    I will openly admit that I fall on the side of Test Driven Development. I have run into a situation that I would like to test, but I haven't found a good way to do so. I have been working in ASP.NET MVC and I would like to test that the parts of code that I am putting into the view layer (and I know that I need to keep that as minimal as possible). I am looking for an equivalent in .NET to httpunit in Java or something similar.

  • Deploy Xen

    I would like to deploy Xen virtualization, however I definately not sure which way to go. Citrix Xen Server has (AFAIK) better managment tools, but does not provide software raid. Ubuntu / CentOS has Xen installations and support software RAID. Is it worth to go and buy HW RAID or just stick with SW RAID and Xen budnled with linux distribution. Which way would you suggest? Are there any other things I should consider?

However, when I go to the root directory of the website (I can see "httpdocs" and "conf" and other folders), I can't make a new directory or go into the "conf" directory.   • Mounting /var /tmp /var/log to separate partition

    Per DISA hardening requirements for RHEL, I'm supposed to make sure a number of locations on the filesystem are mounted on separate partitions. A few of the locations they specify include /var /tpm /var/log etc. Is it possible to go about doing this on a live machine (without booting a separate OS)? And how would I go about doing that. I've backed up the OS so if I do screw something up I can recover. Thanks!

    I want to forward traffic destined for a specific ip from my internal network via a specific interface. I have two interfaces which are currently load balanced. I need all requests for a certain ip to go out via eth0 otherwise my external ip changes and sessions are dropped. eg. all requests from 10.1.1.1/24 to ip 11.22.33.44 on port 443 must go out via interface eth0. How can I do this with iptables?

  • Word in office 2007 and Windows 7 ultimate cant navigate to folders

    In word 2007 I click office button top left I click open, I get the open box, in the top address bar, I if I click on the down arrow far right (previous Locations) the drop down menu is empty just a box with nothing in it. To go anywhere from here I have to navigate via the left had pane, on all other windows systems this dropdown has enabled me to go to any location on my computer. I'm wondering if because all my word documents are on my D drive that windows 7 doesn't like it.

    I've got several input text fields, and my design requirement is to have gold text on a black background that, when highlighted, is black text on a gold background; however, Flash's default selected text highlight color scheme is white text on a black background and there is no way to change this. Does anyone have any workarounds that are easy to implement and don't require additional classes (the design requests minimal outside classes).

  • .NET WebService IPC - Should it be done to minimise some expensive operations?

    I'm looking at a few different approaches to a problem: Client requests work, some stuff gets done, and a result (ok/error) is returned. A .NET web service definitely seems like the way to go, my only issue is that the "stuff" will involve building up and tearing down a session for each request. Does abstracting the "stuff" out to an app (which would keep a single session active, and process the request from the web service) seem like the right way to go? (and if so, what communication method) The work time is negligible, my concern is the hammering the transaction servers in question will probably get if I create/drop a session for each job. Is some form of IPC or socket based communication a feasible solution here? Thoughts/comments/experiences much appreciated. Edit: After a bit more research, it seems like hosting a WCF service in a Windows Service is probably a better way to go...

    For example, if you want information of PHP functions, you can go to http://www.php.net/ . If you want information of Perl functions you can to to http://www.cpan.org/ and/or use perldoc. If you want information on Java you can go to http://java.sun.com and/or use javadoc. However, if you want information on Javascript methods/functions and their attributes, return values, etc. where do you go? The reason I ask is I was playing with the "focus()" method and wondering if it could be passed any values or if it returned anything when called.     Hi everyone, I'm designing a set of web services to allow our clients to connect from their apps to one of our systems. Our clients have their apps developed in all varieties of frameworks (.NET, Java, PHP, Python and even the occasional all JS app), so obviously WS is the way to go. Investigating a little about truly interop WS I've found that the way to go is to design first the WSDL and XSD and derive the implementations from there. What i'm really looking for is guidance if this is really the way to go. I've read that WCF creates interoperable WS but i'm not a fan of MS creating something standard. Should i use WCF or there is a good set of tools for designing WSDL and XSD without the pain i'm expecting. Thanks in advance
