  • HTML to Text Conversion

    - by JSS
    Internet Explorer has an option to save a web page as a text file, with all the tags removed. I need a way to batch process that stuff for a project at work. Or there any command line utilities or libraries that can do the same thing for me? COM-interop with IE(not my first choice!)? It doesn't have to format exactly like IE, just give me plain text.

  • PHP HTML table is too wide

    - by typoknig
    I have a table that I cannot get to size correctly. The table populates with information from a database via a loop. Sometimes if the data is too long the table extends past where it should. When the data is that long I want the data to wrap in the cells so the table stays where it should. I have tried the normal table data but it isn't working. Any ideas? <?php echo "<table> <tr> <th>id</th> <th>700-number</th> <th>First name</th> <th>Last name</th> <th>Email</th> <th>Response</th> <th>Created On</th> </tr>"; $num = mysql_num_rows($result); for ($i = 0; $i < $num; $i++) { $row = mysql_fetch_array($result); $id = $row['id']; $school_id = $row['school_id']; $fname = $row['first_name']; $lname = $row['last_name']; $email = $row['email']; $attending = ($row['attending'] == 0) ? 'No' : 'Yes'; $date = $row['created_on']; $class = (($i % 2) == 0) ? "td2" : "td1"; echo "<tr>"; echo "<td class=" . $class . ">$id</td>"; echo "<td class=" . $class . ">$school_id</td>"; echo "<td class=" . $class . ">$fname</td>"; echo "<td class=" . $class . ">$lname</td>"; echo "<td class=" . $class . ">$email</td>"; echo "<td class=" . $class . ">$attending</td>"; echo "<td class=" . $class . ">$date</td>"; echo "</tr>"; } ?> </table>

  • Embed external images for use in HTML canvas?

    - by Philipp Lenssen
    I'm using JavaScript to load an image into my Canvas element in Firefox. This works fine for local images, but throws a security exception for external images. Is there any way to avoid this security exception, one that does not involve my server having to act as proxy to load the image locally (because that would stress my server)? PS: The current code is similar to this: var img = new Image(); var contextSource = canvasSource.getContext('2d'); contextSource.drawImage(img, 0, 0); // get image data to do stuff with pixels var imageDataSource = contextSource.getImageData(0, 0, width - 1, height - 1);

  • HTML form requirements specification

    - by Peder
    I am building a framework that will validate forms both client-side (javascript) and server-side based on a form requirements specification written in json. The purpose is to get rid of logically equivalent code on the server and client to make the code more maintainable, faster to write, and less buggy. The specification format may look something like: { '&lt;field_name>' : ['&lt;validation_function>', 'req', ['&lt;requirement>', &lt;param>], ...], ... } ( the requirement list is ordered so that the user can get most basic error messages first, the 'req' requirement must come first if it exists and means that the field is required) e.g.) { 'name' : ['string', 'req', ['min',6], ['max',150], ['match', /^[\sa-z0-9ÅÄÖåäö&]$/i], ['not_match', /^tmp_/]], 'email' : ['email', 'req'], 'email_confirm' : ['same_as', 'email'], 'password' : ['string', 'req', ['min', 6], ['max', 64], ['match', /^[a-z0-9\!@#\$%^&*_+.]$/i] ], } Does anyone know of a similar technology? I think the Rails validation framework solves the problem on the wrong level because I have found that forms often operate on more than one model.

  • Best practice to structure large html-based project

    - by AntonAL
    I develop Rails based website, enjoying using partials for some common "components" Recently, i faced a problem, that states with CSS interference. Styles for one component (described in css) override styles for another components. For example, one component has ... <ul class="items"> ... and another component has it too. But that ul's has different meaning in these two components. On the other hand, i want to "inherit" some styles for one component from another. For example: Let, we have one component, called "post" <div class="post"> <!-- post's stuff --> <ul class="items"> ... </ul> </div And another component, called "new-post": <div class="new-post"> <!-- post's stuff --> <ul class="items"> ... </ul> <!-- new-post's stuff --> <div class="tools">...</div> </div Post and new-post have something similar ("post's stuff") and i want to make CSS rules to handle both "post" and "new-post" New post has "subcomponents", for example - editing tools, that has also: <ul class="items"> This is where CSS rules starting to interfer - some rules, targeted for ul.items (in post and new-post) applies subcomponent of new-post, called "tools" On the one hand - i want to inherit some styles On the other hand, i want to get better incapsulation What are the best practices, to avoid such kind of problems ?

  • How to handle redirects while parsing HTML? - Python

    - by RadiantHex
    Hi folks, I'm trying to submit a few forms through a Python script, I'm using the mechanized library. This is so I can implement a temporary API. The problem is that before after submission a blank page is returned informing that the request is being processed, after a few seconds the page is redirected to the final page. I understand if it might sound a bit generic, but I'm not sure what is going on. :) Any ideas?

  • New to php and need to format a php page from html statement

    - by Peter D
    My problem is the page shows a vertical line of options. I want to put them into a 4 column table to display instead of just down lhs of page. The code I want to change is as follows: </tr> <tr> <td>{LOOP: JOBTYPE} IF("{JOBTYPE.parent_id}"!="0"){&nbsp; {:IF} IF("{JOBTYPE.catcount}"=="0"){<input type="checkbox" name="jobtype[{JOBTYPE.id}]" value="{JOBTYPE.id}" {JOBTYPE.selected}>{JOBTYPE.title}<br>{:IF} IF("{JOBTYPE.catcount}"!="0"){<strong>{JOBTYPE.title}</strong><br>{:IF} {/LOOP: JOBTYPE}</td> </tr> <tr> <td>&nbsp;</td> </tr> As you can see I have another column there and can split cell further but i would like the job list to be displayed accross the page not vertically. Thank you in advance, Peter

  • HTML: How to get a child element to show behind (lower z-index) than its parent

    - by dclowd9901
    I need for a certain dynamic element to always appear on top of another element, no matter what order in the DOM tree they are. Is this possible? I've tried z-index (with position: relative), and it doesn't seem to work. I hate to be vague, but this is the simplest way I can think of asking this question without explaining its purpose ad nauseum. So, to recap, I need <div class="a"> <div class="b"></div> </div> <div class="b"> <div class="a"></div> </div> To display exactly the same when rendered. And for flexibility purposes (I'm planning on distributing a plugin that needs this functionality), I'd really like to not have to resort to absolute or fixed positioning.

  • html form using input as a submit button

    - by Mike
    Hello onlookers, A web site I've been using has some interesting behavior... There is a form, but there is no button for submission. Instead, there is an input: <input id="ctl00_pageContent_loginButton" type="image" style="border-width: 0px;" alt="Login" src="images/btn_login.gif" name="ctl00$pageContent$loginButton"/> and when you hover over it the cursor turns into a hand, like an anchor tag -- however I do not see any css (in firebug) showing that the input should have a hover attribute. Further, the input does not have any sign of being an actual link/submission button. I'm stumped -- would love to know how they were able to do this. The web page is: https://my.sa.ucsb.edu/gold/Login.aspx Thank you!

  • PHP statements, HTML and RSS

    - by poindexter
    Alrighty, I've got another little bit of code that I'm wrestling through. I'm building a conditional sidebar. The goal is to only show blog related stuff when posts in the "blog" category are being viewed. I've got part of it working, but the part where I'm trying to bring in an RSS feed of the category into the sidebar to show as recent posts. It doesn't work, and since I'm a php newb I'm not entirely sure why. Any suggestions or pointers are much appreciated. I'll post the problem section first, and then the entire php file second, so you all can see the context for the section that I'm having issues with. Problem Section: echo '<div class="panel iq-news">'; echo '<h4><span><a href="/category/blog/feed"><img src="/wp-content/themes/iq/images/rss-icon.gif" alt="Subscribe to our feed"/></a></span>IQNavigator Blog</h4>'; <?php query_posts('category_name=Blog&showposts=2'); if (have_posts()) : ?> echo '<ul>'; <?php while (have_posts()) : the_post(); ?> echo '<li><a href="<?php the_permalink();?>"><?php the_title();?> </a></li>'; <?php endwhile;?> echo '</ul>'; <?php endif;?> echo '<div class="twitter">'; echo '<p id="twitter-updates">'; <?php twitter_updates();?> echo '</p>'; echo '<p class="text-center"><a href="http://twitter.com/iqnavigator">Follow us on twitter</a></p>'; echo '</div>'; echo '</div>'; The whole darn long statement, for context reasons: <div class="sidebar"> <?php if (!is_search() && !is_page('Our Clients') && !is_archive()){ if($post->post_parent) { $children = wp_list_pages("title_li=&child_of=".$post->post_parent."&echo=0&depth=1&exclude=85,87,89,181,97,184"); } else { $children = wp_list_pages("title_li=&child_of=".$post->ID."&echo=0&depth=1&exclude=85,87,89,181,97,184"); } if ($children) { ?> <div class="panel links subnav"> <h3>In This Section</h3> <ul class="subnav"> <?php echo $children; ?> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> </div> <?php } } if(is_page('Our Clients') || in_category('Our Clients') || is_category('Our Clients')) { echo '<div class="panel links subnav">'; echo '<h3>In This Section</h3>'; echo '<ul class="subnav">'; wp_list_categories('child_of=21&title_li='); echo '</ul>'; echo '<p>&nbsp;</p>'; echo '</div>'; } else if (in_category('Blog')) { //PUT YOUR CODE HERE // echo get_page_content(34); echo '<div class="panel featured-resource">'; echo '<h4>Blog Contributors</h4>'; echo '<ul class"subnav">'; echo '<li><a href="/company/executive-team/john-f-martin/">John Martin</a></li>'; echo '<li><a href="/company/executive-team/kieran-brady/">Kieran Brady</a></li>'; echo '<li><a href="/company/executive-team/art-knapp/">Art Knapp</a></li>'; echo '</ul>'; echo '</div>'; echo '<div class="panel iq-news">'; echo '<h4><span><a href="/category/blog/feed"><img src="/wp-content/themes/iq/images/rss-icon.gif" alt="Subscribe to our feed"/></a></span>IQNavigator Blog</h4>'; <?php query_posts('category_name=Blog&showposts=2'); if (have_posts()) : ?> echo '<ul>'; <?php while (have_posts()) : the_post(); ?> echo '<li><a href="<?php the_permalink();?>"><?php the_title();?> </a></li>'; <?php endwhile;?> echo '</ul>'; <?php endif;?> echo '<div class="twitter">'; echo '<p id="twitter-updates">'; <?php twitter_updates();?> echo '</p>'; echo '<p class="text-center"><a href="http://twitter.com/iqnavigator">Follow us on twitter</a></p>'; echo '</div>'; echo '</div>'; //END CODE HERE } if (!is_page('Resources')) { ?> <div class="panel featured-resource"> <h4>Featured Resource</h4> <div class="embed"> <?php $custom_fields = get_post_custom(); $featured_video_code = $custom_fields['Featured Video Code']; if($featured_video_code) { foreach ( $featured_video_code as $key => $value ) { $the_code = $value; } $featured_video_link = $custom_fields['Featured Video Link']; foreach ( $featured_video_link as $key => $value ) { $the_link = $value; } $featured_video_text = $custom_fields['Featured Video Text']; foreach ( $featured_video_text as $key => $value ) { $the_text = $value; } if($the_code) { echo $the_code; } if($the_text) { echo '<ul>'; echo '<li>'; if($the_link) { echo '<a href="' . $the_link .   • How to transform html anchor <a> to WordML

    - by Monomachus
    Hi, I need to transform an anchor tag to WordML without using relationships. Is it possible? I found the w: anchor property but seems it refers only to internal document anchors and not to links or URLs. <w:hyperlink w:anchor="chapter3"> <w:r> <w:t>Go to Chapter Three</w:t> </w:r> </w:hyperlink> So it would be great if something similar would be possible to do without making an Id in relationship document and than referring this id from w:hyperlink. Anyone knows something like that?

  • HTML: adjusting the font size according to the screen size

    - by Mike
    I am building an intranet website that is intended to be seen by mobile phones using one of the following resolutions: 240x320, 320x240, 360x640 and 800x352. All content is to be seen covering the full screen. No scroll should be necessary. I have developed, initially for 360x640. When this content is seen on 240x320 or 320x240 the letter is too big and the user has to scroll to see all content. Is there any way to scale the letters down or up automatically, so the content will fit on every screen size? I mean, adjusting the text font size according to the current screen resolution? thanks for any help.

  • Outputting an HTML entity character from a helper function

    - by morpheous
    I am using Symfony 1.3.2 on Ubuntu. I have written a little helper function (statsfoo) that prints out summary statistics about an item. I am using the helper function in my template like this: // In StatsHelper.php <?php function statsfoo($some_param) { return "<div class=\"sfoo\">&9830; the stats number for item is 42</div>" } //In showStatsSuccess.php <?php use_helper(Stats); <?php echo statsfoo($foobar, ESC_ENTITIES); I tried both ESC_ENTITIES and ESC_RAW. In both instances, the raw number (&9830) was displayed in the page. I want to display the diamond instead. What am I doing wrong and how can I fix this?
