    Is there a way to make SSH port not get sent through VPN so when my computer is connected to a VPN, it can still be remoted in via SSH from its non-VPN IP? I am using Mint Linux 13. Thank you for your help! This is the instructions I followed to setup the VPN: Open Terminal Type: sudo apt-get install network-manager-openvpn Press Y to continue. Type: sudo restart network-manager Download BTGuard certificate (CA) by typing: sudo wget -O /etc/openvpn/btguard.ca.crt http://btguard.com/btguard.ca.crt Click on the Network Manager icon, expand VPN Connections, and choose Configure VPN A Network Connections window will appear with the VPN tab open. Click Add. 8. A Choose A VPN Connection Type window will open. Select OpenVPN in the drop-down menu and click Create.. . In the Editing VPN connection window, enter the following: Connection name: BTGuard VPN Gateway: vpn.btguard.com Optional: Manually select your server location by using ca.vpn.btguard.com for Canada or eu.vpn.btguard.com for Germany. Type: select Password User name: username Password: password CA Certificate: browse and select this file: /etc/openvpn/btguard.ca.crt Click Advanced... near the bottom of the window. Under the General tab, check the box next to Use a TCP connection Click OK, then click Apply. Setup complete! How To Connect Click on the Network Manager icon in the panel bar. Click on VPN Connections Select BTGuard VPN The Network Manager icon will begin spinning. You may be prompted to enter a password. If so, this is your system account keychain password, NOT your BTGuard password. Once connected, the Network Manager icon will have a lock next to it indicating you are browsing securely with BTGuard.

  • ASP.NET MVC Html.ValidationSummary(true) does not display model errors

    I have some problem with Html.ValidationSummary. I don't want to display property errors in ValidationSummary. And when I set Html.ValidationSummary(true) it does not display error messages from ModelState. When there is some Exception in controller action on string MembersManager.RegisterMember(member); catch section adds an error to the ModelState: ModelState.AddModelError("error", ex.Message); But ValidationSummary does not display this error message. When I set Html.ValidationSummary(false) all messages are displaying, but I don't want to display property errors. How can I fix this problem?   • Can't clone gitosis-admin.git local from my snow leopard server running gitosis

    I've installed gitosis as described here: http://gist.github.com/264304 One of the things that I had to adjust was to give my git user permissions to use ssh (which I did trough server admin - access - ssh and added the 'git' user). When I ssh from my local machine (mac osx) as the git user, I get this response: PTY allocation request failed on channel 0 bash: gitosis-serve: command not found Connection to 10.0.0.108 closed. Which I think is normal, because in Pro GIT the author says you should get something like this if you try ssh'ing to the server using your git user: PTY allocation request failed on channel 0 fatal: unrecognized command 'gitosis-serve schacon@quaternion' Connection to gitserver closed. So far so good, I think? Now when I try to clone my gitosis-admin.git repository using this command: $git clone [email protected]:gitosis-admin.git I get this: Initialized empty Git repository in /Users/joggink/gitosis-admin/.git/ bash: gitosis-serve: command not found fatal: The remote end hung up unexpectedly So after doing some searching, I found an answer here on serverfault claiming I should use ssh:// as protocol for my git clone (which I thought is the default git protocol?) However, when I try: $git clone ssh://[email protected]:gitosis-admin.git This is the response: The authenticity of host ' (::1)' can't be established.   • Active directory integration not working properly with winbind and samba

    I'm trying to get my linux box to use active directory authentication. I believe I have almost everything setup correctly. I'm able to issue wbinfo -g and wbinfo -u and see all the groups and users respectively. Brief intro to my setup: The username I use on my linux box to do admin things is nick. My active directory username is nwalke. They have two different passwords. I am able to log in to the box with nick and that user's password and I'm also able to login as nwalke with nwalke's password. The curious bit: Upon creating the active directory user's home directory, I run a script that requires root access. This is to setup some system wide things like a samba share for them. When I log in as nwalke, I enter my nwalke password and it succeeds. I'm then greeted with [sudo] password for nick:. If I enter my nwalke password here, it says Sorry, try again.. If I enter nick's password, it says Sorry, user nick is not allowed to execute scriptname as root. If I do groups as nwalke, I see that magically my user has been given the group nick. Now, I accidentally thought that nick had a UID of 100, not 1000. So originally in my smb.conf I had idmap uid 1000-10000. The only thing I can think of, is that I logged in with nwalke while that was still set and now I'm just being presented with a UID of 1000 forcing linux to think I'm nick. I'm not really sure where to go from here. Like I said, I'm fairly certain active directory is communicating with my server properly, but something must not be mapped right on the linux side. Any thoughts? Here is my smb.conf: [global] security = ads netbios name = hostname realm = COMPANY.COM password server = adshost.company.com workgroup = COMPANY idmap uid = 10000-90000 idmap gid = 10000-90000 winbind separator = + winbind enum users = no winbind enum groups = no winbind use default domain = yes template homedir = /home/%D/%U template shell = /bin/bash client use spnego = yes domain master = no load printers = no printing = bsd printcap name = /dev/null disable spoolss = yes Let me know if more information about something is required.

My problem is that when I have finished to type my login and change the focus to the password field, there is a cursor on the login field and on the password field, but the focus is on the password field, so my question is, how can I make the cursor disappear on the login field ? Also, I have tryed to setup mysql on independant Linux Server but kept getting errors. When, I found the solution. Wouldn't work, so I decided to try Windows. These is the questions, I have been asking and researching to debug this issue Is it because I am using Linux for magento and Windows for Database. I have had no luck in finding a reason why this wouldn't work There must be something, I am missing I also researched the difference between linux sql databases and windows sql databases but have not come to conclusion, if installing Mysql on windows would make a difference in syntax and coding. I have spent a lot of time looking into this and need some help with direction on how to complete my project. Any type of help would be appreciated.

  • PHPMyAdmin works with https Only (not http)

    Hi I've been having a problem getting phpmyadmin to work consistently on my XP desktop and laptop computers for months now. When I type into Chrome's browser on both machines, localhost/phpmyadmin, I kept getting Error #1045 Access Denied for user at root@localhost (using password yes). Eventually, I realized that I had two (2) versions of mysql installed (XAMPP and MySQL Server 5.1) on both machines. So I uninstalled the MySQL Server 5.1I from the desktop and phpmyadmin worked. But when I uninstalled MySQL Server 5.1 from my laptop, it did not work. But I realized I could still get into MySQL Commandline Client using my password and that my databases were still intact. So I uninstalled and reinstalled XAMPP on the laptop and phpmyadmin worked after that. Now I have a new problem. On phpMyAdmin's home page has a message at the bottom: Your configuration file contains settings (root with no password) that correspond to the default MySQL privileged account. Your MySQL server is running with this default, is open to intrusion, and you really should fix this security hole by setting a password for user 'root'. And now it only works using https. I would really like to settle all my phpmyadmin problems once and for all so here are my questions: 1. Why does my laptop only access phpmyadmin via https? 2.     Hello. I have a website running on IIS and using Windows Authentication. All users that are configured to get access to the site are form a AD domain (not local users). In the properties of a Website, I have set to use the AD domain as the realm. Now, when using Firefox, Safari or Chrome - Everything is fine. When the user tries to open the site, he get's the login box. he enters simply "username" and "password" (let's pretend that it's an actual login and password :P) and he get's into the site. When using IE, however, things get nasty. When the user tries to open the site - he get's the login box. User enters the "username" and "password" again, but those get rejected! And when the second time login box pops up - it has the username filled in as "web-server-domain-name\username" which is wrong, because web-server-domain-name is not the domain where all users reside (it's "ad-domain"). I've spent days trying to figure out what's going on... Note, that if I manually enter "ad-domain\username" - I get accepted into the site without problems. So, my guess is that IE sends wrong username if domain is not specified. Anyway, IE is the only browser that triggers this behavior! Is it possible to do a server-side fix? Maybe it's possible to somehow auto-map the users to AD users? If it's not solvable server-side - is there a client-side fix for this? Thank you. PS: I'm more of a programmer than a sys-admin, so configuring servers isn't the strong side of mine... :P UPDATE: @Evan: Yes, "Digest authentication for Windows domain servers" is also enabled. @Eric: IIS version is 6.0. The authentication methods enabled are: Integrated and digest - all other methods are disabled. As for the security log. I looked at it, when doing "username" and "password" login in Chrome/Firefox and when doing "ad-domain\username" and "password" login from IE - the generated log messages are the same (I see no difference, anyway). When entering "username" and "password" I don't see any errors in the security (or any other) log, so can't tell what method it's trying to use. UPDATE 2: As suggested by Eric in the comments - I played around with Fiddler... While playing with it, I noticed, that when "username" and "password" is entered in FF and IE - the "Authorization" header value (encrypted) sent by IE is longer (almost two times) than one sent by FF. I tried to disable Windows Integrated authentication and only leave the Digest enabled - that fixed the problem (meaning, IE used the right realm just like other browsers), but that caused bazillion other problems with my site, because with Digest - user impersonation on the server doesn't work (that causes problems, when connecting to database etc). Any ideas?

  • Using GET Method to Maintain Variables After Logging In

    Hello, I am using a login system. When I navigate to comments/index.php without logging in, some variables get passed along using the GET method just fine. Then, if I log in while I am on this page, these variables disappear. The variables that disappear are $submission, $submissionid, and $url. I thought I could use the GET method to keep them live after logging in by appending ?submission='.$submission.'&submissionid='.$submissionid.'&url='.$url.' to the URL of the login form action as seen below. But the variables still disappeared after I made this addition. The relevant code I am trying to use is below. Any idea what I can do to make it do what I want?     Because IE won't do document.getElementById(ID).setAttribute('type','password') I've re-engineered the way the password field woirks on this site: http://devdae.dialanexchange.com/Default.aspx so it works in accordance with this idea: http://www.folksonomy.org/2009/01/12/changing-input-type-from-text-to-password-in-internet-explorer-hack/ It works fine in IE8 and FF3. It breaks in IE7 just as you click into the password field. I'm now tearing my hair out. Can anyone give me a clue what's wrong as IE7's diagnosis is just "Object expected, code 0"?
