  Hi Folks, I am using win Vista, and I am trying to backup some Database under DB2. I am logged in using the Administrator user, and whenever I try to issue the backup command in the "command line processor", I get the following message: SQL1092N "ADMINISTRATOR" does not have the authority to perform the requested command. SQLSTATE=00000 BTW, I have created a username/password pair (db2admin) while installing the DB2 server. So, Will this problem will be get solved if I use the db2admin user? And how to connect to the server (local server BTW) using the db2admin user ?

• Implementing traceback on i386

  Hi, I am currently porting our code from an alpha (Tru64) to an i386 processor (Linux) in C. Everything has gone pretty smoothly up until I looked into porting our exception handling routine. Currently we have a parent process which spawns lots of sub processes, and when one of these sub-processes fatal's (unfielded) I have routines to catch the process. I am currently struggling to find the best method of implementing a traceback routine which can list the function addresses in the error log, currently my routine just prints the the signal which caused the exception and the exception qualifier code. Any help would be greatly received, ideally I would write error handling for all processors, however at this stage I only really care about i386, and x86_64. Thanks Mark

• Selectively parsing log files using Java

  I have to parse a big bunch of log files, which are in the following format. SOME SQL STATEMENT/QUERY DB20000I The SQL command completed successfully. SOME OTHER SQL STATEMENT/QUERY DB21034E The command was processed as an SQL statement because it was not a valid Command Line Processor command. EDIT 1: The first 3 lines (including a blank line) indicate an SQL statement executed successfully, while the next three show the statement and the exception it caused. darioo's reply below, suggesting the use of grep instead of Java, works beautifully for a single line SQL statement. EDIT 2: However, the SQL statement/query might not be a single line, necessarily. Sometimes it is a big CREATE PROCEDURE...END PROCEDURE block. Can this problem be overcome using only Unix commands too? Now I need to parse through the entire log file and pick all occurrences of the pair of (SQL statement + error) and write them in a separate file. Please show me how to do this!

• slow android emulator

  I have a 2.67GHz Celeron Processor, 1.21GBs of RAM on a x86 Windows XP Pro machine. My understanding is that the emulator should start fairly quickly on such a machine, but for me it does not. I have followed all instructions in setting up the IDE, SDKs, JDKs and such and have had some success in staring the emulator quickly but is very particulary. How can I if possible fix this problem. Even if it starts and loads home screen it is very sluggish. Any help would be appreciated guys thanks. I have tried the Eclipse IDE in Galileos, and Ganymede.

• Worried about spiders repeatedly hitting high-demand page

  Due to some rather bizarre architectural considerations I've had to set up something that really ought to run as a console application as a web page. It does the job of writing a large variety of text files and xml feeds from our site data for various other services to pick up so obviously it takes a little while to run and is pretty processor intensive. However, before I deploy it I'm rather worried that it might get hit repeatedly by spiders and the like. It's fine for the data to be re-written but continual hits on this page are going to trigger performance issues for obvious reasons. Is this something I ought to worry about? Or in reality is spider traffic unlikely to be intensive enough to cause problems?

  Hey people! I guess you people know more about this, than the ServerFault-Peps - If I'm wrong please correct me! Maybe you experienced it with the Oracle-Databasesystem too that it could use a hell of processorcapacity but it just takes something arround 10% so the processor is bored and your procedures are as fast as a snail in the desert. Do you know any way to say to the system something like: "Hey! You got a lot of power little database-jedi, so use it!" Thanks for your time and burned out braincells to answer this one!   (Hope to be non OT) Hi, i'm a little exasperated about running vs.net 2008 on an acer aspire with an intel t2350. I know, this hardware is not the "last" and the best we can find on the market. So i'm thinking to buy a new notebook. For your experience, which type of processor i can buy ? I found, here in italy, acer notebook between 350-500 euros with t4400 and 2-3 gb ram. Is it enough to have a good "working experience" with vs (with good i intend not to wait 10-20 seconds when i switch from asp.net design to asp.net source code) ? Any answer is appreciated

Every time one of the threads has completed a task, I'd like to update a status on a table taskID | status I use DataGridView and BindingList in the following way: BindingList<Task> tasks; dataGridView.DataSource = tasks public class Task : INotifyPropertyChanged { ID{get;} Status{get;set;} } Can a background thread safely update a task's status? and changes will be seen in the correct order in the GUI? Second Question: When do I need to call to PropertyChanged? I tried running with and without the call, didn't seem to bother.. Third Question: I've seen on MSDN that dataGridView uses BindingSource as a mediator between DataGridView.DataSource and BindingList Is this really necessary?

  Suppose I have a list of #defines in a header file for an external library. These #defines represent error codes returned from functions. I want to write a conversion function that can take as an input an error code and return as an output a string literal representing the actual #define name. As an example, if I have #define NO_ERROR 0 #define ONE_KIND_OF_ERROR 1 #define ANOTHER_KIND_OF_ERROR 2 I would like a function to be able to called like int errorCode = doSomeLibraryFunction(); if (errorCode) writeToLog(convertToString(errorCode)); And have convertToString() be able to auto-convert that error code without being a giant switch-case looking like const char* convertToString(int errorCode) { switch (errorCode) { case NO_ERROR: return "NO_ERROR"; case ONE_KIND_OF_ERROR: return "ONE_KIND_OF_ERROR"; ... ... ... • Hard drive randomly sppeeding up

  Having a weird issue with my hard drive. Running Windows 7 with an I5 processor. At random times the hard drive will start running at top speed and gradually return to normal over the next two minutes or so. Going to Resource Monitor it shows a variety of things with high read or write numbers. Log files NTFS volume log, Windows prefetch, System/user/appdata, and Program data Norton are the usual top ones listed. This just started about three months ago although the computer is about 3 years old. Have run in safe mode with internet over the weekend going to all of my usual sites with no such speed up. Question 1 - what can be causing this? Question 2 - how can I find out where data is being sent(especially if over the net)? Thank you.

• Why doesn't a 32bit .deb package install on 64bit Ubuntu?

  My .deb package, built on 32-bit Ubuntu and containing executables compiled with gcc, won't install on the 64-bit version of the OS (the error message says 'Wrong architecture i386'). This is confusing to me because I thought that in general 32-bit software worked on 64-bit hardware, but not vice-versa. Will it be possible for me to produce a .deb file that I can install on a 64-bit OS, using my 32-bit machine? Is it just a matter of using the appropriate compiler flags to produce the executables (and if so what are they), or is the .deb file itself somehow specific to one processor architecture?

  I've heard from various people that programmable Ethernet cards exist and are easily available. However I have yet to be able to track down one of these mythical devices so I'm wondering if they're just that - a myth. Such a programmable card has a gigabit Ethernet interface, has a programmable CPU and connects to the host system via PCI Express. The problem area these cards address are low latency network applications where the card itself does the work and "reports back" to the operating system. Basically the card acts as a co-processor and handles all the low latency requirements on the card, thus avoiding the issues of writing low latency code in user-land - think 0.4ms - 0.5ms response times. So my question is, do these cards really exist and if so, where can I get my hands on one?

  How can I use jQuery for messing with a particular div, but not in the current document - in a variable, that contains HTML? The point is that I want to show a preview of a page (a piece of it's content) in a modal window, when the link to this page is clicked. Well, onClick I load this whole HTML into a variable via JSON and then... how would I find a particular div I need in it? It's gonna be almost impossible to parse it with PHP before converting it into JSON and giving back to jQuery processor because of a deep hierarchy. Basically, is it even possible to do smth like $( 'div#some-id' ).blabla(); not for the current document, but for the document, stored in a variable? Thx everyone in advance.

  In the spirit of type safety associated with the CriteriaQuery JPA 2.0 also has an API to support Metamodel representation of entities. Is anyone aware of a fully functional implementation of this API (to generate the Metamodel... as opposed to creating the metamodel classes manually)? It would be awesome if someone also knows the steps for setting this up in Eclipse (I assume it's as simple as setting up an annotation processor, but you never know).   Hi, I'm trying to evaluate an xpath varable I'm building dynamically based on the position of the node. I can create the xpath string in a variable but when I select the value of this just get the string and not the node set I need. I use the following to create the xpath <xsl:variable name="xpathstring" select="normalize-space(concat(&quot;//anAttribute[@key='pos&quot;,position(),&quot;']&quot;))"/> and try to output the value with the following. <xsl:value-of select="$xpathstring"/> If I execute the xpath in my debugger I get the nodeset but in my xml output only get the xpath string which looks like this //anAttribute[@key='pos1'] I had a look at exslt dyn:evaluate which seems to enable this but this seems to be only supported by certain processors and doesn't provide a standalone implementation or at least as far as I could see (currently using the standard .net 2.0 xslt whihc is only xslt 1.0 as far as I recall) Is there anyway to handle this without changing processor? • Performance optimization for mssql: decrease stored procedures execution time or unload the server?

  Hello everybody! We have a web service which provides search over hotels. There is a problem with performance: a single request to the service takes around 5000 ms. Almost all of the time is spent in database by executing storing procedures. During the request our server (mssql2008) consumes ~90% of the processor time. When 2 requests are made in parallel the average time grows and is around 7000 ms. When number of request is increasing, the average time of response is increasing as well. We have 20-30 requests per minute. Which kind of optimization is the best in this case having in mind that the goal is to provide stable response time for the service: 1) Try to decrease the stored procedures execution time 2) Try to find the way how to unload the server It is interesting to hear from people who deal with booking sites. • Python - Why ever use SHA1 when SHA512 is more secure?

  I don't mean for this to be a debate, but I'm trying to understand the technical rationale behind why so many apps use SHA1, when SHA512 is more secure. Perhaps it's simply for backwards compatibility. Besides the obvious larger size (128 chars vs 40), or slight speed differences, is there any other reason why folks use the former? Also, SHA-1 I believe was first cracked by a VCR's processor years ago. Has anyone cracked 512 yet (perhaps with a leaf blower), or is it still safe to use without salting?

  Assume I have a cooperative scheduler in an embedded environment. I have many processes running. I want to utilize the watchdog timer so that I can detect when a process has stopped behaving for any reason and reset the processor. In simpler applications with no RTOS I would always touch the watchdog from the main loop and this was always adequate. However, here, there are many processes that could potentially hang. What is a clean method to touch the watchdog timer periodically while ensuring that each process is in good health? I was thinking that I could provide a callback function to each process so that it could let another function, which oversees all, know it is still alive. The callback would pass a parameter which would be the tasks unique id so the overseer could determine who was calling back.

• Speed of running a test suite in Rails

  I have 357 tests (534 assertions) for my app (using Shoulda). The whole test suite runs in around 80 seconds. Is this time OK? I'm just curious, since this is one of my first apps where I write tests extensively. No fancy stuff in my app. Btw.: I tried to use in memory sqlite3 database, but the results were surprisingly worse (around 83 seconds). Any clues here? I'm using Macbook with 2GB of RAM and 2GHz Intel Core Duo processor as my development machine.

• Help getting PHP sessions to persist after being taken off-site

  Hi, we're working on a payment gateway system with PHP. We use sessions to store the shopping cart data. The system takes you off-site to the payment processor's site, and then return you to your site. On most hosts, we have no issues when we arrive back at our site and having the session data still be there. On those with an issue, turning off the PHP session referer_check has worked in the past. We don't really want to have to include the PHPSESSID as a GET variable, and hope to avoid that. What I'm looking for is what other server configurations would cause the session to be killed, and any other workarounds there might be. Thanks for your help.

  Hi, I want to develope a graphicintensive application. It should be hardwareaccelerated with DirectX. Also it must looking good, so I use a LayeredWindow for nice shadoweffects. But now I have a big problem, because I cannot draw with DX on a LayeredWindow. So I search for a possibility to render with DX into a bitmap, so I can use it for the layeredwindow. I found a way to get a stream of the rendersurface, but this brings up my processor to 100%, because I must render the layeredwindow up to 75 times per second. Thank you, if you can help me, or you know a better way to draw with DirectX a Window with unregular Border and Shadows.
