    Is the recent movement towards anonymous methods/functions by mainstream languages like perl and C# something important, or a weird feature that violates OO principles? Are recent libraries like the most recent version of Intel's Thread Building Blocks and Microsofts PPL and Linq that depend on such things a good thing, or not? Are languages that currently reject anonymous methods/functions, like Java, making wise choices in sticking with a purely OO model, or are they falling behind by lacking a fundamental programming feature?

If Multiple Inheritance is a feature then why don't languages like C#, VB.NET, java etc. support multiple inheritance? But those languages are considered as strongly supported OOPS language. Can anyone address this question?

I'd like this functionality for other languages as well, apart from the basics that Doxygen supports (C++, C, Java, Objective-C, Python, VHDL, PHP, C#). I'm currently looking for tools that support JavaScript, ActionScript 2 and ActionScript 3/Flex. I'm also interested in tools that have a wider language support than Doxygen. I know it can be done from a Java environment, but I am wondering about the opportunities with modern web languages like Ruby or Python. The latter is considered to be "more scientific" (at least used in that environment), but using Google there seems to be a preliminary ProLog implementation for both.     Hi, I am getting the user preferred language from the below code: NSUserDefaults* defs = [NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults]; NSArray* languages = [defs objectForKey:@"AppleLanguages"]; NSString *language = [languages objectAtIndex:0]; This will return something like 'en' for 'English', or 'de' for 'Deutsch'. It feels like standard coding style debates that have been raging since programming began like "put the bracket on the following line" or "properly indent your (" are no longer essential. I realize in languages where white space matters the diff will have to consider it but for languages where the style is a personal preference is there really a need to worry about it anymore?

    Hello It seems the most common aproach to web design is to use HTML/XHTML & CSS in conjunction with other technologies or languages like Javascript or PHP. On a theoretical level, I'm interested to know what other languages or technologies could be used to build an entire site without using a single HTML tag or CSS style for styling/positioning? Could a website be made only using XML or PHP alone, including actual styling and positioning? Presumably Flash sites are till embedded in HTML tags? Thanks

    I ask this question because the international standardization subcommittee for programming languages, or ISO/IEC JTC1/SC22 Programming languages, states on this page: http://www.open-std.org/JTC1/SC22/WG14/www/standards that Technical Corrigendum 3, the latest one, was published in 2007. Now I take it that this means the C language it self was changed and that the books and tutorials pre-2007 may contain outdated information. Please correct me if I am wrong. Thanks, Adam

    As far as I can see the key advantage of dynamic languages like Ruby or Python over Java/Scala/C# etc is "hot" applying of your changes to source code to the running application. What are the frameworks for JVM or .NET that support the same workflow - apply changes to configuration and source code on the fly? Can they also watch changes to custom configurations and notify application? Note: Frameworks for dynamic languages on JVM/.NET like Grails or Compojure are out of scope here.
