  • apache2 VirtualHost in Mac OS X home directory

    I am running Macports apache2 on Mac OS X 10.5. Whenever I configure a virtual host in the default folder, it works, however when I configure the virtual host in my home directory I get a "403 Forbidden" error. How do I configure a vhost in my home directory?     We're evaluating using SharePoint 2010 as our project management tool. Specifically, the system needs to satisfy the following: Discussion groups Project management (simple issue tracking, no complex workflows or vcs integrations) News feed for the project(s) File sharing based on authorization/user-roles Custom homepage Custom forms using MS SQL Server as a backend and contents of old forms searchable from the user interface. Now, I think [1-5] is possible using SharePoint (Comments are always welcome :)). I'm not sure about [6]. Is it possible? For instance, can an admin or a user of the SharePoint portal, create a custom form (without any programming) that uses MS SQL Server as a backend and publish it to the portal so that other users can also perform data entry? If it can be done (be it with or without some programming), can users perform text search on form data using the SharePoint interface?

  • CHM to EPUB Converter

    I recently bought an iriver ebook reader but it doesn't support chm files. I have bought a bunch of O'Reilly books and with them have the soft copy as well. Some books convert quite well using calibre. However, there is one book I have that just won't convert. So I used HH to decompile it and now I have a bunch of html files. These html files contain references to images in folders. How can I now join them all into a single document which Calibre can read and properly convert into an epub or am I going about this the wrong way? I've read this question but it removes the images and the images are quite important to the content.

  • Hide users from Mac OS X Snow Leopard logon screen.

    Somehow, I managed to set a passwd for my _postgres user on my OS instead of setting it on the postgres role I have as my superuser / root. Anyways since this, I've been struggling with that user showing up in the account section and login screen, which I really would like to avoid. I've read through some docs about this, and setting the password to * should be all that is needed to fix this. But after several attempts doing this with and without dscl to no avail, I'm gotten to a point where I don't know what to do anymore. I didn't think it would be even hard doing this, but clearly I'm missing something, so how do you do this?

  • Why does my motherboard go through an endless reboot cycle when 8 GB of memory is attempted vs 6 GB?

    I never got an answer in my googling to this about a year ago and have an extra stick of memory I'd like to be able to use. When is inserted the computer starts, and then reboots immediately in an endless reboot cycle. As soon as the 4th stick is removed, the computer works fine. Right now I have 6 GB of my 8 GB installed. Is there a solution that I am missing to enabling this motherboard to actually boot up with all 8 GB (it supports it). Right now it won't even boot up to BIOS with the 4 sticks... only 3?   • Google Talk Video Chat with Gmail and 3rd Party App

    Google Talk video chat only works in Gmail (because that makes sense, right?); however, other IM apps (I'm using Empathy specifically) support video chat over Google Talk. But can you use video chat outside your 'client'? Can someone on Gmail video chat with someone on Empathy? I'm having problems doing that, and suspect it may because of an older (but certainly not that old) version of Empathy. But before I start troubleshooting I just wanted to make sure ti's possible. Because I believe at one time, it wasn't - correct?

    At this point, I'm thinking of just using CSS 3, esp. since I'm a programmer, but I'd like to do this with Photoshop because I think it's nicer since I'm working with images anyway, among other reasons... Before I move on, my first question is: Is there a place like SuperUser for designers (or for Photoshop-like or questions)? What I Want: I want the icons on http://www.mattdipasquale.com/ to look like those on http://about.me/mattdipasquale. About.me has an outdated Twitter icon and does not have icons for GitHub, StackOverflow, etc. So, although I like the look of their icons, I want to be able to create these icons myself instead of using their versions. What I Have: I have different iphone icons, like the Facebook iPhone icon, Twitter iPhone icon, etc., that I got from iTunes, using Firebug to find the URL of the background image. I opened them up in Photoshop and pressed option + command + i to reduce the image size to 32px x 32px with Bicubic Sharper (best for reduction). I now have a square icon layer. Closing the Gap: In addition to the icon layer, I want to have a clipping-mask layer that will apply the 5px rounded-corners, 1px stroke, and 1px bevel. (Note: I just want to apply effects to the edges of the icon because the gloss and other effects are already encoded in the iTunes image. Also, I'm just guessing about the pixel values, but I want it to look good, like the icons on about.me.) What settings should I use for the blend options to make the icons look good, like iphone icons or those used by about.me? Why a Clipping Mask? The reason I want to use a clipping mask is that I want ease of reproducibility. I want to be able to apply the same styling to other square icon layers by simply replacing the square icon layer and then saving for web. If there is a better way to achieve such ease of reproducibility, please suggest it. I've seen Photoshop iPhone icon templates, but I couldn't figure out how to use them with my own images. Thanks!     I am looking for a way to capture a click on a standard toolbar tool in Excel with VBA. The primary need is to capture any Copy, Cut, and Paste request by the user. I can capture the hot keys for these functions, but I can't find a way to capture the same functions when the user clicks on the icon on the standard toolbar or when the user uses the menu to select the function.

  • Charging a laptop battery, without a laptop.

    I have an old-ish laptop that only works on AC power because the battery is old and no longer holds a charge. I live in Christchurch New Zealand where there has recently been a number of very large earthquakes. During one of these earthquakes my laptop was thrown from my desk to the floor and now does not respond at all when the AC adapter is connected. Given that the laptop is not responding to power, is there another way I could charge a replacement battery for it as I don't currently have funds to repair the AC adapter on the box. My research would suggest that this isn't possible as chargers need to take into account the specifics of the model of battery being charged

  • Google Talk chat status permanently available

    I logged into google talk from the blackberry talk application and it set the status as available. Now google talk shows me as being permanently available even though I have logged out of every possible place I can think of (including the phone). I have used the gmail feature that allows one to log out of all other locations. I have logged out and uninstalled the blackberry app. Showing status as online isn't such a problem if the chats weren't being eaten by this unknown app as well. I primarily use google chat from gmail, so if there is a way to get my chat requests properly routed to the gmail window, please let me know.

    The installation notes (git://gitorious.org/python-markdown/mainline.git) say in the file using_as_module.txt One of the parameters that you can pass is a list of Extensions. Extensions must be available as python modules either within the markdown.extensions package or on your PYTHONPATH with names starting with mdx_, followed by the name of the extension. Thus, extensions=['footnotes'] will first look for the module markdown.extensions.footnotes, then a module named mdx_footnotes. See the documentation specific to the extension you are using for help in specifying configuration settings for that extension. I put the folder "extensions" to ~/bin/python/ such that my PYTHONPATH is the following export PYTHONPATH=/Users/masi/bin/python/:/opt/local/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.6/ The instructions say that I need to import the addons such that import markdown import <module-name> However, I cannot see any module in my Python. This suggests me that the extensions are not available as "python modules - - on [my] PYTHONPATH with names starting with mdx_ - -." How can you get Markdown's extensions to work? 2nd attempt I run at ~/bin/markdown git clone git://gitorious.org/python-markdown/mainline.git python-markdown cd python-markdown python setup.py install I put the folder /Users/masi/bin/markdown/python-markdown/build to my PATH because the installation message suggests me that is the new location of the extensions. I have the following in a test markdown -document [TOC] -- headings here with # -format --- However, I do not get the table of contents. This suggests me that we need to somehow activate the extensions when we compile by the markdown.py -script. **The problem returns to my first quoted text which I is rather confusing to me.

The the file is displayed, but the text is truncated (not rectangular, just after some character limit). How to display the whole file?   • Unusual Restart

    I am currently running Windows XP Professional on my computer. My configuration is Intel Dual Core 3.00 GHz, 512 MB RAM, 160 GB HDD. Sometimes, the computer just restarts without any particular reason. After restarting, I get an error report, "Windows has just recovered from a serious error." Such incidents happen once in 5-6 days. I don't face any other problems apart from this. Also, I don't face this problem in Ubuntu Karmic Koala though.

  • Configure a wireless network that accepts any WPA2-PSK network key

    I recently bought a UART WiFi module ( this one ) and configured it with right SSID but wrong password( and I don't know what it is ). The problem is that I can't reset this module to its manufacture settings and I can't connect to this module via serial port to configure it with some wire or cable. But I'm sure that my module is trying to connect my access point but with wrong network key ( because in logs of my access point I can see my module that trying to connect but it can't ) So, I wonder to know is there any way to create or configure a network (using some access point or something else) based on WPA2 Personal security that accepts any WPA2-PSK passwords ? Or is there any other solution for this problem ? If no, is there anyway to see what password this module using to connect to that network ? ( If yes, then I can change password of my network to that password and access to this module's admin panel ) I tried create an open network ( without any security key ) but my module just searches for WPA2 based networks ( I think ).

  • Use Sony HDR line of camcorders as webcam?

    I have a Sony HDR-XR200 HD camcorder. I'd like to see if I can use it as a webcam as well. It only has USB and HDMI outputs (no DV/firewire). Is there any way to make such a device function as a webcam on Windows Vista? Almost all camcorder-to-webcam software seems to work with DV inputs.
