    What are available resources I should look to in order to write an emulator for iPhoneOS? I'd like to write an emulator to run applications written for MacOS. I understand that I won't be able to use file system and other OS resources. I do have an SDK, XCode and all documentation for those resources, but I wonder if I can find some examples (perhaps similar to the emulator that can run Ninetendo games on iPhone)?

  • Minimum OS version number, iPhone app

    Hi all I've built an iPhone app which is live in the app-store. When originally submitting the app it showed up in App Store as requiring iPhone OS 3.1.3. When later updating the app I made sure my settings in Xcode for the target for the app store build had the Base SDK version set to 3.1.3 and the Deployment Target version set to 3.0, however it still shows up in app store as requiring 3.1.3. From what I've understood the Deployment Target version is the one setting the requirement in app store? Or is there any information concerning this that I should have updated in iTunes Connect when submitting the updated app? Thanks, Michael

What causes this and how can I fix it?

  • Rendering splash screen on the iPhone using Open GL ES

    Hi, I want to render a splash screen on the iPhone whilst using an Open GL view. The iPhone screen as we know is 320x480, which is not a power of 2. Before I enter into the world of chopping the texture up and rendering sub parts, or embedding the screen on another texture page I was wondering if there was another way? Is it possible to overlay another view that I could render to using CoreGraphics functions? Or is it possible to render to a Open GL surface using Core Graphics functions. What would you recommend? My app downloaded the .mp3 file successful and then played it. However, after a few days, I run my app again, the app can't downloaded the .mp3 file. How can I download the .mp3 file all the time?     I have an iPhone/iPad app using Core Data to keep my application data. Sometimes, even though I don't get any error messages, the data is not really saved so when the app starts anew, it's all gone. This problem seems to disappear after physically rebooting the device, but otherwise it's pretty random and hard to track. Has anyone seen a similar issue? Also, it seems to happen more often in the iPhone 1st generation, less so in the 3G/3GS, and seldom in the iPad. Very strange...

    Hi there, I was wondering if it's possible to create a HTML div container with some CSS magic that shows a horizontal scrollbar like the one with the screenshots on the iTunes preview on the web.     Is it possible to use chapters in videos for the iPhone in an application? For example: I have a 3 minutes video to play. I have chapter 1 starting at 0s, chapter 2 at 50s, chapter 3 at 95s. Can I start plating the video at 50s (chapter 2) until the end? Can I make it play just the chapter 2 from 50s to 95s? My question is not about how to add chapters to a video. I want to know if this behaviour is available on the iphone.

    I've seen the answers for opening the Maps app in a native iPhone app, but is there any way to do this in a web app? I've tried changing window.location to http://maps.google.com/maps?q=cupertino for example, to no avail. I've tried using a simple anchor tag linked to http://maps.google.com/maps?q=cupertino, also to no avail. Has anyone gotten this to work before? I'm working on a map-heavy application, and I'd like to provide users with directions at the end. I figured it would be easiest to simply open it up in the Map application. Note: I'm currently testing with just the simulator, could that lead to problems? My iPhone is down for the count at the moment.

  • Maximum executable size on the iPhone?

    Is there a maximum size of executables or executables + shared objects on the iPhone? I've been developing an app that has been crashing on startup or early in execution with SIGSYS. Removing code from the program has helped, though structuring data so the code is simply not executed does not. This could be memory corruption, of some kind, however when I compiled with -Os rather than -O2 or -O3 the size of my executable goes down from 5.15MB to 3.60MB and the application runs perfectly. I also have a bunch of libraries I use, of course. I'm wondering, is there a limit on the size of executable code on the iPhone? Or am I just 'getting lucky' and masking memory corruption when I use -Os?

    I have a simple navigation based iPhone app, in which user can navigate form one view to another view. There is only one view which have 4 tab. Each tab loads a a seperate nib with a corresponding controller. Each nib contains a tableview with some other controls for searching/filtering etc. Apprt from this I dont need tabBar in any view. So for ex: Login View Welcome View (With TabBar) user select Setting tab and select any setting option Setting Detail view(WITHOUT tabbar) Back WelcomView( With Tab Bar) I am confused how to add a tab bar in navigation based template where only one view is using tabBar all other uses Navigation I hope you understand my problem. I am new to iphone so any example/link will help a lot. Thanks

    When I first got my iPhone 4, if I selected a song from the "search iPhone" screen (when you hit home twice), iTunes would start playing a playlist of all my songs, starting with the selected one. I recently updated it to 4.2.1 (I don't remember exactly what I was at before). Now, when I select a song from the "Search iPhone" screen, iTunes starts playing a playlist containing only that song. Is there a way I can get the old behavior back?
