  • Silverlight TemplateBinding to RotateTransform

    - by Trog Dog
    I am trying to create the simplest Silverlight templated control, and I can't seem to get TemplateBinding to work on the Angle property of a RotateTransform. Here's the ControlTemplate from generic.xaml: <ControlTemplate TargetType="local:CtlKnob"> <Grid x:Name="grid" RenderTransformOrigin="0.5,0.5"> <Grid.RenderTransform> <TransformGroup> <RotateTransform Angle="{TemplateBinding Angle}"/> <!-- This does not work --> <!-- <RotateTransform Angle="70"/> --> <!-- This works --> </TransformGroup> </Grid.RenderTransform> <Ellipse Stroke="#FFB70404" StrokeThickness="19"/> <Ellipse Stroke="White" StrokeThickness="2" Height="16" VerticalAlignment="Top" HorizontalAlignment="Center" Width="16" Margin="0,2,0,0"/> </Grid> </ControlTemplate> Here's the C#: using System.Windows; using System.Windows.Controls; namespace CtlKnob { public class CtlKnob : Control { public CtlKnob() { this.DefaultStyleKey = typeof(CtlKnob); } public static readonly DependencyProperty AngleProperty = DependencyProperty.Register("Angle", typeof(double), typeof(CtlKnob), null); public double Angle { get { return (double)GetValue(AngleProperty); } set { SetValue(AngleProperty,value); } } } }

  • Silverlight combobox performance issue

    - by Vinzz
    Hi, I'm facing a performance issue with a crowded combobox (5000 items). Rendering of the drop down list is really slow (as if it was computing all items before showing any). Do you have any trick to make this dropdown display lazy? Xaml code: <Grid x:Name="LayoutRoot"> <StackPanel Orientation="Horizontal" Width="200" Height="20"> <TextBlock>Test Combo </TextBlock> <ComboBox x:Name="fooCombo" Margin="5,0,0,0"></ComboBox> </StackPanel> </Grid> code behind: public MainPage() { InitializeComponent(); List<string> li = new List<string>(); int Max = 5000; for (int i = 0; i < Max; ++i) li.Add("Item - " + i); fooCombo.ItemsSource = li; }

  • Bind a SL4 TreeView to an IGrouping using Caliburn

    - by illdev
I am just starting in the SL world and am trying to use the Caliburn NavigationShell as my starting point. I converted the solution to SL4 and use Caliburn from the trunk . To create the basic navigation, I am a bit unsure (well, quite), how I can display the original StackPanel of Buttons as a collapsible Treeview. I changed ITaskBarItem to own a simple GroupName property public interface ITaskBarItem : IEntryPoint { BitmapImage Icon { get; } string DisplayName { get; } string GroupName { get;} } then, I expose this in ShellViewModel to the View: public IEnumerable<IGrouping<string, ITaskBarItem>> TaskBarItems { get { return _taskBarItems.GroupBy(t => t.GroupName); } } How can I do the xaml markup so that I get a simple hierarchy? How can I bind Actions with out the use of Buttons? GroupName DisplayName DisplayName DisplayName GroupName DisplayName DisplayName DisplayName ... Mind, this is MVVM, so I am not going to use code behind or events to do that...

  • Implicit theme error:The property 'Content' was not found in type 'System.Windows.Controls.Control'.

    - by Mark
I have got an error while trying to upgrade our large project to SL4. I didn't write the original theme and my theme knowlege isn't great. In my demo app I have a Label and a LabelHeader(which i have created and is just a derived class from Label with DefaultStyleKey = typeof(LabelHeader); I am styling lthem like this: <Style TargetType="themeControls:LabelHeader"> <Setter Property="Template"> <Setter.Value> <ControlTemplate> <DataInput:Label FontSize="{TemplateBinding FontSize}" FontFamily="{TemplateBinding FontFamily}" Foreground="{TemplateBinding Foreground}" Content="{TemplateBinding Content}"/> </ControlTemplate> </Setter.Value> </Setter> <Setter Property="FontFamily" Value="Tahoma"/> <Setter Property="FontSize" Value="20"/> <Setter Property="Foreground" Value="Red"/> </Style> This works in SL3 but in SL4 I get: Error: Unhandled Error in Silverlight Application Code: 2500 Category: ParserError Message: The property 'Content' was not found in type 'System.Windows.Controls.Control'. File: Line: 9 Position: 168 If I change this: Content="{TemplateBinding Content}" to Content="XXX" Then there is no error but , of course, I get XXX in my label rather than the content I set in XAML on the page Any ideas how I can get this working? Demo project here: http://walkersretreat.co.nz/files/ThemeIssue.zip (Apologies for reposting, I have so far got no answers over here: http://forums.silverlight.net/forums/p/183380/415930.aspx#415930)

  • Context menu event handling error - CS1061

    - by MrTemp
I am still new to c# and wpf This program is a clock with different view and I would like to use the context menu to change between view, but the error says that there is no definition or extension method for the events. Right now I have the event I'm working on popping up a MessageBox just so I know it has run, but I cannot get it to compile. public partial class MainWindow : NavigationWindow { public MainWindow() { //InitializeComponent(); } public void AnalogMenu_Click(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e) { /*AnalogClock analog = new AnalogClock(); this.NavigationService.Navigate(analog);*/ } public void DigitalMenu_Click(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e) { MessageBox.Show("Digital Clicked"); /*DigitalClock digital = new DigitalClock(); this.NavigationService.Navigate(digital);*/ } public void BinaryMenu_Click(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e) { /*BinaryClock binary = new BinaryClock(); this.NavigationService.Navigate(binary);*/ } } and the xaml call if you want it <NavigationWindow.ContextMenu> <ContextMenu Name="ClockMenu" > <MenuItem Name="ToAnalog" Header="To Analog" ToolTip="Changes to an analog clock"/> <MenuItem Name="ToDigital" Header="To Digital" ToolTip="Changes to a digital clock" Click="DigitalMenu_Click" /> <MenuItem Name="ToBinary" Header="To Binary" ToolTip="Changes to a binary clock"/> </ContextMenu> </NavigationWindow.ContextMenu>

  • RelayCommand sender from ItemsControl item

    - by Padu Merloti
I've been using MVVM's RelayCommand with success to bind actions to XAML, but I'm having a small problem with my ItemsControl. <ItemsControl ItemsSource="{Binding Devices}" > <ItemsControl.ItemTemplate> <DataTemplate> <Grid Width="100" Margin="4" > <Button Command="{Binding Path=SelectDeviceCommand}" > <Grid> <Image Source="img_small.png"></Image> <Image Source="{Binding Path=Logo}" /> </Grid> </Button> </Grid> </DataTemplate> </ItemsControl.ItemTemplate> </ItemsControl> In my view model: public RelayCommand SelectDeviceCommand { get; set; } private ObservableCollection<Device> Devices; Devices = CreateListOfDevices(); private void InitializeCommands() { SelectDeviceCommand = new RelayCommand((s) => MessageBox.Show(s.ToString())); } How do I define my SelectDeviceCommand in my view model in order to receive object that is bound to that item? My SelectDeviceCommand is not even being called... (but that I guess is because I need to make my Device a mini-viewmodel and implement the SelectDeviceCommand in it, is that correct?)

  • WPF MVVM Chart change axes

    - by c0uchm0nster
I'm new to WPF and MVVM. I'm struggling to determine the best way to change the view of a chart. That is, initially a chart might have the axes: X - ID, Y - Length, and then after the user changes the view (either via lisbox, radiobutton, etc) the chart would display the information: X - Length, Y - ID, and after a third change by the user it might display new content: X - ID, Y - Quality. My initial thought was that the best way to do this would be to change the bindings themselves. But I don't know how tell a control in XAML to bind using a Binding object in the ViewModel, or whether it's safe to change that binding in runtime? Then I thought maybe I could just have a generic Model that has members X and Y and populate them as needed in the viewmodel? My last thought was that I could have 3 different chart controls and just hide and show them as appropriate. What is the CORRECT/SUGGESTED way to do this in the MVVM pattern? Any code examples would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

  • Bind a subclass to property

    - by Neir0
Hi i have a simple question. Ofcourse it has many answers but i cannt choose right keywords to google. How i can bind a subclass to my wpf control? for example: It's my class. public class SiteFieldInfo<T> { public string Name { get; set; } public T Value { get; set; } public List<string> PositiveXPathExpressions { get; set; } public List<string> NegativeXPathExpressions { get; set; } } public class SiteInfo { public SiteFieldInfo<string> Author { get; set; } public SiteFieldInfo<DateTime> Date { get; set; } public SiteFieldInfo<string> Source { get; set; } } And i want to bind property Value from SiteFieldInfo to Text property of TextBox control. c# code: stackPanel1.DataContext = SiteInfoInstance; xaml code: <StackPanel Name="stackPanel1"> <TextBlock Text="Author" Grid.Row="0" Grid.Column="0" /> <TextBox Grid.Row="0" Grid.Column="1" Text="{Binding Path=Author.Value}" /> </StackPanel> It's not working. What is right syntax or any alternatives?

  • Draw a column graph with no space between columns

    - by Andrew Shepherd
I am using the WPF toolkit, and am trying to render a graph that looks like a histogram. In particular, I want each column to be right up against each other column. There should be no gaps between columns. There are a number of components that you apply when creating a column graph. (See example XAML below). Does anybody know if there is a property you can set on one of the elements which refers to the width of the white space between columns? <charting:Chart Height="600" Width="Auto" HorizontalAlignment="Stretch" Name="MyChart" Title="Column Graph" LegendTitle="Legend"> <charting:ColumnSeries Name="theColumnSeries" Title="Series A" IndependentValueBinding="{Binding Path=Name}" DependentValueBinding="{Binding Path=Population}" Margin="0" > </charting:ColumnSeries> <charting:Chart.Axes> <charting:LinearAxis Orientation="Y" Minimum="200000" Maximum="2500000" ShowGridLines="True" /> <charting:CategoryAxis Name="chartCategoryAxis" /> </charting:Chart.Axes> </charting:Chart>

  • Synchronize DataGrid and DataForm in Silverlight 3

    - by SpiralGray
I've been banging my head against the wall for a couple of days on this and it's time to ask for help. I've got a DataGrid and DataForm on the same UserControl. I'm using an MVVM approach so there is a single ViewModel for the UserControl. That ViewModel has a couple of properties that are relevant to this discussion: public ObservableCollection<VehicleViewModel> Vehicles { get; private set; } public VehicleViewModel SelectedVehicle { get { return selectedVehicle; } private set { selectedVehicle = value; OnPropertyChanged( "SelectedVehicle" ); } } In the XAML I've got the DataGrid and DataForm defined as follows: <data:DataGrid SelectionMode="Single" ItemsSource="{Binding Vehicles}" SelectedItem="{Binding SelectedVehicle, Mode=TwoWay}" AutoGenerateColumns="False" IsReadOnly="True"> <dataFormToolkit:DataForm CurrentItem="{Binding SelectedVehicle}" /> So as the SelectedItem changes on the DataGrid it should push that change back to the ViewModel and when the ViewModel raises the OnPropertyChanged the DataForm should refresh itself with the information for the newly-selected VehicleViewModel. However, the setter for SelectedVehicle is never being called and in the Output window of VS I'm seeing the following error: System.Windows.Data Error: ConvertBack cannot convert value 'xxxx.ViewModel.VehicleViewModel' (type 'xxxx.ViewModel.VehicleViewModel'). BindingExpression: Path='SelectedVehicle' DataItem='xxxx.ViewModel.MainViewModel' (HashCode=31664161); target element is 'System.Windows.Controls.DataGrid' (Name=''); target property is 'SelectedItem' (type 'System.Object').. System.MethodAccessException: xxxx.ViewModel.MainViewModel.set_SelectedVehicle(xxxx.ViewModel.VehicleViewModel) It sounds like it's having a problem converting from a VehicleViewModel to an object (or back again), but I'm confused as to why that would be (or even if I'm on the right track with that assumption). Each row/item in the DataGrid should be a VehicleViewModel (because the ItemsSource is bound to an ObservableCollection of that type), so when the SelectedItem changes it should be dealing with an instance of VehicleViewModel. Any insight would be appreciated.

  • How do I compress a Json result from ASP.NET MVC with IIS 7.5

    - by Gareth Saul
I'm having difficulty making IIS 7 correctly compress a Json result from ASP.NET MVC. I've enabled static and dynamic compression in IIS. I can verify with Fiddler that normal text/html and similar records are compressed. Viewing the request, the accept-encoding gzip header is present. The response has the mimetype "application/json", but is not compressed. I've identified that the issue appears to relate to the MimeType. When I include mimeType="*/*", I can see that the response is correctly gzipped. How can I get IIS to compress WITHOUT using a wildcard mimeType? I assume that this issue has something to do with the way that ASP.NET MVC generates content type headers. The CPU usage is well below the dynamic throttling threshold. When I examine the trace logs from IIS, I can see that it fails to compress due to not finding a matching mime type. <httpCompression directory="%SystemDrive%\inetpub\temp\IIS Temporary Compressed Files" noCompressionForProxies="false"> <scheme name="gzip" dll="%Windir%\system32\inetsrv\gzip.dll" /> <dynamicTypes> <add mimeType="text/*" enabled="true" /> <add mimeType="message/*" enabled="true" /> <add mimeType="application/x-javascript" enabled="true" /> <add mimeType="application/json" enabled="true" /> </dynamicTypes> <staticTypes> <add mimeType="text/*" enabled="true" /> <add mimeType="message/*" enabled="true" /> <add mimeType="application/x-javascript" enabled="true" /> <add mimeType="application/atom+xml" enabled="true" /> <add mimeType="application/xaml+xml" enabled="true" /> <add mimeType="application/json" enabled="true" /> </staticTypes> </httpCompression>

  • Binding Data to a TextBlock using Domain Data Source

    - by TFisher
I have a map with hotspots for each state (done in Expression Blend). I capture each MouseEnter of the state (1 thru 50). I pass that into my Domain Data Source: Dim activebox As Path = TryCast(sender, Path) activebox.Fill = mouseOverColor Dim StateID As Integer = CInt(Right(activebox.Name, 2)) Dim _StateContext As New StateContext myDataGrid.ItemsSource = _StateContext.States _StateContext.Load(_StateContext.GetStateByStateIDQuery(StateID.Text)) The above works fine for a datagrid, listbox and even a dataform. But I created a popup with a stackpanel that has textblocks. popupStatesBox.DataContext = ?????????????? popupStatesBox.IsOpen = True 'popup does open but has no data -- popupStatesBox.xaml <Popup x:Name="popupStatsBox" Margin="8,35,0,8" DataContext="{Binding}" IsOpen="false" Width="268" HorizontalAlignment="Left"> <StackPanel x:Name="Layout" Background="Black"> <TextBlock x:Name="tbState" Text="{Binding StateName /> <TextBlock x:Name="tbAbbrev" Text="{Binding Abbreviation}" /> </StackPanel> </Popup> How do I get the textblocks to display the values from the _StateContext. StackPanel has DataContext but no ItemsSource. What am I missing?

  • Problem with a chart with a polyline and a LinearGradientBrush

    - by Maurizio Reginelli
I have a graph with a polyline contained into a canvas. I would like to set the stroke of the polyline starting from a color at the bottom and ending to another color on top. I tried with this xaml: <Polyline StrokeThickness="2"> <Polyline.Stroke> <LinearGradientBrush StartPoint="0.5,1" EndPoint="0.5,0"> <GradientStop Color="Blue" Offset="0" /> <GradientStop Color="Cyan" Offset="1" /> </LinearGradientBrush> </Polyline.Stroke> </Polyline> In this way it works but the height of the gradient is equal to the height of the polyline. I mean, if I have a polyline which goes from the bottom of the canvas to its top, the gradient is applied over the entire height of the canvas. If I have instead a horizontal polyline, the gradient is applied to its thickness. I would like to have a gradient height equal to the canvas height, independently from the polyline height. How can I achieve this?

  • Chain of DataBinding

    - by Neir0
    Hello I am trying to do follow DataBinding Property -> DependencyProperty -> Property But i have trouble. For example, We have simple class with two properties implements INotifyPropertyChanged: public class MyClass : INotifyPropertyChanged { private string _num1; public string Num1 { get { return _num1; } set { _num1 = value; OnPropertyChanged("Num1"); } } private string _num2; public string Num2 { get { return _num2; } set { _num2 = value; OnPropertyChanged("Num2"); } } public event PropertyChangedEventHandler PropertyChanged; public void OnPropertyChanged(string e) { PropertyChangedEventHandler handler = PropertyChanged; if (handler != null) handler(this, new PropertyChangedEventArgs(e)); } } And TextBlock declared in xaml: <TextBlock Name="tb" FontSize="20" Foreground="Red" Text="qwerqwerwqer" /> Now lets trying to bind Num1 to tb.Text: private MyClass _myClass = new MyClass(); public MainWindow() { InitializeComponent(); Binding binding1 = new Binding("Num1") { Source = _myClass, Mode = BindingMode.OneWay }; Binding binding2 = new Binding("Num2") { Source = _myClass, Mode = BindingMode.TwoWay }; tb.SetBinding(TextBlock.TextProperty, binding1); //tb.SetBinding(TextBlock.TextProperty, binding2); var timer = new Timer(500) {Enabled = true,}; timer.Elapsed += (sender, args) => _myClass.Num1 += "a"; timer.Start(); } It works well. But if we uncomment this string tb.SetBinding(TextBlock.TextProperty, binding2); then TextBlock display nothing. DataBinding doesn't work! How can i to do what i want?

  • WPF - Grid - updating Row and Column number attached properties on child controls each time a new Ro

    - by ig105
    I have a WPF Grid with a XAML similar to this: <Grid width=200 Height=200 > <Grid.ColumnDefinitions > <ColumnDefinition Width="1*" /> <ColumnDefinition Width="2*" /> </Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <Grid.RowDefinitions> <RowDefinition Height="Auto" /> <RowDefinition Height="Auto" /> <RowDefinition Height="Auto" MinHeight="24" /> </Grid.RowDefinitions> <TextBlock Text="Name" Grid.Row="0" Grid.Column="0"/> <TextBox Grid.Row="0" Grid.Column="1" /> <TextBlock Text="Age" Grid.Row="1" Grid.Column="0"/> <TextBox Grid.Row="1" Grid.Column="1" /> </Grid> I need to add a new row in between existing 2 rows of data, but my worry is that when I add a new row, I will need to manually update Grid.Row attached property in each of the controls that appear in rows below the newly added row. Is there a smarter way of doing this? may be to set Row/Column numbers relative to adjacent Rows/Columns ? Cheers.

  • WPF - expander Collapsed event being triggered by child controls with validation

    - by Shaboboo
I have an expander that contains an ItemsControl. The items in the itemsControl are templated, some have textboxes in them, others have checkboxes. Both have bindings that cause validation. The styling and validation is working as expected. The problem is when I first expand the expander and cause a change to either control, the expander collapses again, this is not what I want. If I repeat this a second time this does not happen. I'm not sure what is triggering this strange behaviour. I've tried setting the focus to the itemsControl when the expander expands with no luck. What is differnt the second time it's expanded? Could it be the validation? Any Ideas? XAML: <Expander Header="{Binding SubSectionName}" Padding="0" > <ItemsControl ItemsSource="{Binding ConfigSubSectionSettings}" ItemTemplateSelector="{StaticResource Settings_Selector}" /> </Expander> <!-- Templates selected by the ItemTemplateSelector --> <DataTemplate x:Key="subSection_Bool"> <StackPanel Orientation="Horizontal"> <TextBlock x:Name="lbl" Text="{Binding SubSectionName}" > <CheckBox x:Name="chk" IsChecked="{Binding BoolValue, ValidatesOnDataErrors=True}" VerticalAlignment="Center" Margin="2" > </StackPanel > </DataTemplate> <DataTemplate x:Key="subSection_Text"> <StackPanel Orientation="Horizontal"> <TextBlock x:Name="lbl" Text="{Binding SubSectionName}" /> <TextBox x:Name="txt" VerticalAlignment="Center" Text="{Binding StringValue, ValidatesOnDataErrors=True}" /> </StackPanel> </DataTemplate>

  • Trouble binding WPF Menu to ItemsSource

    - by chaiguy
I would like to avoid having to build a menu manually in XAML or code, by binding to a list of ICommand-derived objects. However, I'm experiencing a bit of a problem where the resulting menu has two levels of menu-items (i.e. each MenuItem is contained in a MenuItem): My guess is that this is happening because WPF is automatically generating a MenuItem for my binding, but the "viewer" I'm using actually already is a MenuItem (it's derived from MenuItem): <ContextMenu x:Name="selectionContextMenu" ItemsSource="{Binding Source={x:Static OrangeNote:Note.MultiCommands}}" ItemContainerStyleSelector="{StaticResource separatorStyleSelector}"> <ContextMenu.ItemTemplate> <DataTemplate> <Viewers:NoteCommandMenuItemViewer CommandParameter="{Binding Source={x:Static OrangeNote:App.Screen}, Path=SelectedNotes}" /> </DataTemplate> </ContextMenu.ItemTemplate> </ContextMenu> (The ItemContainerStyleSelector is from http://bea.stollnitz.com/blog/?p=23, which allows me to have Separator elements inside my bound source.) So, the menu is bound to a collection of ICommands, and each item's CommandParameter is set to the same global target (which happens to be a collection, but that's not important). My question is, is there any way I can bind this such that WPF doesn't automatically wrap each item in a MenuItem?

  • How to determine if an item is the last one in a WPF ItemTemplate?

    - by Mike
Hi everyone, I have some XAML <ItemsControl Name="mItemsControl"> <ItemsControl.ItemTemplate> <DataTemplate> <TextBox Text="{Binding Mode=OneWay}" KeyUp="TextBox_KeyUp"/> </DataTemplate> </ItemsControl.ItemTemplate> </ItemsControl> that's bound to a simple ObservableCollection private ObservableCollection<string> mCollection = new ObservableCollection<string>(); public MainWindow() { InitializeComponent(); this.mCollection.Add("Test1"); this.mCollection.Add("Test2"); this.mItemsControl.ItemsSource = this.mCollection; } Upon hitting the enter key in the last TextBox, I want another TextBox to appear. I have code that does it, but there's a gap: private void TextBox_KeyUp(object sender, KeyEventArgs e) { if (e.Key != Key.Enter) { return; } TextBox textbox = (TextBox)sender; if (IsTextBoxTheLastOneInTheTemplate(textbox)) { this.mCollection.Add("A new textbox appears!"); } } The function IsTextBoxTheLastOneInTheTemplate() is something that I need, but can't figure out how to write. How would I go about writing it? I've considered using ItemsControl.ItemContainerGenerator, but can't put all the pieces together. Thanks! -Mike

  • WPF Designer has bug with parsing generic control with overrided property

    - by Ivan Laktyunkin
I've created a generic lookless control with virtual property: public abstract class TestControlBase<TValue> : Control { public static readonly DependencyProperty ValueProperty; static TestControlBase() { ValueProperty = DependencyProperty.Register("Value", typeof(TValue), typeof(TestControlBase<TValue>)); } protected TestControlBase() { Focusable = false; Value = default(TValue); } public virtual TValue Value { get { return (TValue)GetValue(ValueProperty); } set { SetValue(ValueProperty, value); } } } Then I've made a control derived from it and overrided Value property: public class TestControl : TestControlBase<int> { public override int Value { get { return base.Value; } set { base.Value = value; } } } So I use it in a Window XAML: <TestControls:TestControl /> When I open window in designer all is OK, but when I put mouse cursor to this line, or to this control in designer I receive exception: Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation. at System.RuntimeMethodHandle._InvokeMethodFast(Object target, Object[] arguments, SignatureStruct& sig, MethodAttributes methodAttributes, RuntimeTypeHandle typeOwner) at System.RuntimeMethodHandle.InvokeMethodFast(Object target, Object[] arguments, Signature sig, MethodAttributes methodAttributes, RuntimeTypeHandle typeOwner) at System.Reflection.RuntimeMethodInfo.Invoke(Object obj, BindingFlags invokeAttr, Binder binder, Object[] parameters, CultureInfo culture, Boolean skipVisibilityChecks) at System.Delegate.DynamicInvokeImpl(Object[] args) at System.Windows.Threading.ExceptionWrapper.InternalRealCall(Delegate callback, Object args, Boolean isSingleParameter) at System.Windows.Threading.ExceptionWrapper.TryCatchWhen(Object source, Delegate callback, Object args, Boolean isSingleParameter, Delegate catchHandler) Ambiguous match found. at System.RuntimeType.GetPropertyImpl(String name, BindingFlags bindingAttr, Binder binder, Type returnType, Type[] types, ParameterModifier[] modifiers) at System.Type.GetProperty(String name) at MS.Internal.ComponentModel.DependencyPropertyKind.get_IsDirect() at MS.Internal.ComponentModel.DependencyPropertyKind.get_IsAttached() at MS.Internal.ComponentModel.APCustomTypeDescriptor.GetProperties(Attribute[] attributes) at MS.Internal.ComponentModel.APCustomTypeDescriptor.GetProperties() at System.ComponentModel.TypeDescriptor.TypeDescriptionNode.DefaultExtendedTypeDescriptor.System.ComponentModel.ICustomTypeDescriptor.GetProperties() at System.ComponentModel.TypeDescriptor.GetPropertiesImpl(Object component, Attribute[] attributes, Boolean noCustomTypeDesc, Boolean noAttributes) at System.ComponentModel.TypeDescriptor.GetProperties(Object component) at MS.Internal.Model.ModelPropertyCollectionImpl.GetProperties(String propertyNameHint) at MS.Internal.Model.ModelPropertyCollectionImpl.<GetEnumerator>d__0.MoveNext() at MS.Internal.Designer.PropertyEditing.Model.ModelPropertyMerger.<GetFirstProperties>d__0.MoveNext() at MS.Internal.Designer.PropertyEditing.PropertyInspector.UpdateCategories(Selection selection) at MS.Internal.Designer.PropertyEditing.PropertyInspector.OnSelectionChangedIdle() Who know this problem? • WPF TextBlock Binding to DependencyProperty

    - by Bill Campbell
Hi, I have what I believe to be about one of the most simple cases of attempting to bind a view to a dependencyproperty in the view model. It seems that the initial changes are reflected in the view but other changes to the DP do not update the view's TextBlock. I'm probably just missing something simple but I just can't see what it is. Please take a look... My XAML has a status bar on the bottom of the window. I want to bind to the DP "VRAStatus". <StatusBar x:Name="sbar" Grid.Column="0" Grid.Row="2" Grid.ColumnSpan="2" VerticalAlignment="Bottom" Background="LightBlue" Opacity="0.4" DockPanel.Dock="Bottom" > <StatusBarItem> <TextBlock x:Name="statusBar" Text="{Binding VRAStatus}" /> </StatusBarItem> <StatusBarItem> <Separator Style="{StaticResource StatusBarSeparatorStyle}"/> </StatusBarItem> </StatusBar> My viewmodel has the DP defined: public string VRAStatus { get { return (string)GetValue(VRAStatusProperty); } set { SetValue(VRAStatusProperty, value); } } // Using a DependencyProperty as the backing store for VRAStatus. public static readonly DependencyProperty VRAStatusProperty = DependencyProperty.Register("VRAStatus", typeof(string), typeof(PenskeRouteAssistViewModel),new PropertyMetadata(string.Empty)); Then, in my code I set the DP: VRAStatus = "Test Message..."; Is there something obvious here that I am missing? • How to make a grid in a DataTemplate for a ItemTemplate auto-size to ListBox width?

    - by Robert Iagar
    So I have the following DataTemplate for a ListBox.ItemTemplate: <DataTemplate x:Key="Tweet"> <Grid> <Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <ColumnDefinition Width="50"/> <ColumnDefinition Width="Auto"/> </Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <Image Grid.Column="0" Source="{Binding ProfileImageURL}" Width="50" Height="50"/> <Grid Grid.Column="1"> <Grid.RowDefinitions> <RowDefinition Height="Auto"/> <RowDefinition Height="Auto"/> <RowDefinition Height="Auto"/> </Grid.RowDefinitions> <TextBlock Grid.Row="0" FontSize="15" FontWeight="Bold" Text="{Binding User}"/> <TextBlock Grid.Row="1" TextWrapping="Wrap" Text="{Binding Status}"/> <DockPanel Grid.Row="2"> <TextBlock DockPanel.Dock="Left" FontSize="10" TextWrapping="WrapWithOverflow" Text="{Binding TimeAgo}" TextAlignment="Justify"/> <TextBlock DockPanel.Dock="Left" FontSize="10" TextWrapping="Wrap" Text="{Binding Source}"/> </DockPanel> </Grid> </Grid> </DataTemplate> The problem is that it doesn't auto-size to the ListBox. The text gets clipped: TwitBy preview How to fix it? Here's the listBox XAML definition: <ListBox x:Name="tweetsListBox" Margin="3,0" Grid.Row="1" Background="{x:Null}" Grid.IsSharedSizeScope="True" ItemsSource="{Binding}" ScrollViewer.HorizontalScrollBarVisibility="Disabled" ItemTemplate="{DynamicResource Tweet}"/> Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

  • Silverlight 4 seems like starving of memory

    - by Marco
I have been playing a bit with Silverlight and try to port my Silverlight 3.0 application to Silverlight 4.0. My application loads different XAP files and upon a user request create an instance of a Xaml user control and adds it to the main container, in a sort of MEF approach in order I can have an extensible and pluggable application. The application is pretty huge and to keep acceptable the performances and the initial loading I have built up some helper classes to load in the background all pages and user controls that might be used later on. On Silverlight 3.0 everything was running smoothly without any problem so far. Switching to SL 4.0 I have noticed that when the process approaches to create the instances of the user controls the layout freezes unexpectedly for a minute and sometimes for more. Looking at the task manager the memory usage of IE jumps from 50MB to 400MB and sometimes up to 1.5 GB. If the process won't take that much the layout is rendered properly even though the memory usage is still extremely high. Otherwise everything crashes due to out of memory exception. Running the same application compiled in SL3, the memory used is about 200MB when all the usercontrols are loaded. Time spent to load the application in SL3 is about 10 seconds, while it takes up to 3 mins in SL4 There are no transparencies, no opacities set, no effects and animations in the layout. User controls are instantied on the fly and added or removed in the visual tree on purpose when the user switches from one screen to another. The resources are all cleaned properly when a usercontrol is removed from the visual tree to allow the GC to operate in the background. I may do something wrong but I could not figure out where exactly nail out the source of this problem. As far as I know there is no memory profiler in SL4 that can help me out to find where to look at. But again I could not be updated on new debugging tools available.

  • Set the caret/cursor position to the end of the string value WPF textbox

    - by Zamboni
    I am try to set the caret/cursor position to the end of the string value in my WPF textbox when I open my window for the first time. I use the FocusManager to set the focus on my textbox when my window opens. Nothing seems to work. Any ideas? Note, I am using the MVVM pattern, and I included only a portion of the XAML from my code. <Window FocusManager.FocusedElement="{Binding ElementName=NumberOfDigits}" Height="400" Width="800"> <Grid> <Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <ColumnDefinition/> </Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <Grid.RowDefinitions> <RowDefinition/> <RowDefinition/> </Grid.RowDefinitions> <TextBox Grid.Column="0" Grid.Row="0" x:Name="NumberOfDigits" IsReadOnly="{Binding Path=IsRunning, Mode=TwoWay}" VerticalContentAlignment="Center" Text="{Binding Path=Digits, Mode=TwoWay, UpdateSourceTrigger=PropertyChanged}"/> <Button Grid.Column="0" Grid.Row="1" Margin="10,0,10,0" IsDefault="True" Content="Start" Command="{Binding StartCommand}"/> </Grid> </Window>
