  • How to launch a web server and point the browser to it when it finishes?

    - by Wing C. Chen
    I am writing a windows batch file to do the following things: Display a picture in the middle of the screen, showing the beautiful icon of my software. Kick of the launch of the web server. Finish displaying the picture. Point the browser to the start page. I have already know how to do it in step 2 and 4. However, I have the following questions in writing the windows batch file: 1. How do I know that the launch of the web server is finished, taking jetty as the example? 2. How do I display a picture and stop displaying it when I want to? Here is what I have got so far: ::here I would like to display the picture start javaw -jar start.jar ::Starting jetty here ::here I would like to stop displaying the picture start http://localhost:8080/myApp ::Pointing the browser to the page Thank you in advance for your help.

  • Relative path in JLabel HTML

    - by kroiz
    Hi, I am trying to make JLabel show an html which is referencing an image using a relative path. But I cannot make JLabel locate the image. It works fine when I am using absolute path. I have tried running the program from the command line or from eclipse and add dialog to show me where is the current working directory but for avail. I have therefor came to the conclusion that the image is not searched in the current directory - which brings me to the point. where is the image looked for? here is a test code that show what I am doing: import javax.swing.*; public class HTMLLabel extends JFrame { public HTMLLabel() { setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE); JOptionPane.showMessageDialog( this, System.getProperty("user.dir")); String html = "<html>\n" + " <body>\n" + " <div style=\"text-align: center;\">\n" + " <img src=\"file://s.png\">\n"+ " </div>\n"+ " </body>\n"+ "</html>"; JLabel label = new JLabel(html); add(label); pack(); setVisible(true); } public static void main(String[] args) { new HTMLLabel(); } }

  • Is context:annotation-config an alternative to @AutoWired?

    - by Antacid
    Is it correct that I can put context:annotation-config in my XML config and it will automatically inject the bean class without needing any annotations? So instead of using these annotation types: public class Mailman { private String name; @Autowired private Parcel Parcel; public Mailman(String name) { this.name = name; } @Autowired public void setParcel(Parcel Parcel) { this.Parcel = Parcel; } @Autowired public void directionsToParcel(Parcel Parcel) { this.Parcel = Parcel; } } I would just need to write this: <beans ... > <bean id="mailMan" class="MailMan"> <constructor-arg value="John Doe"/> </bean> <bean id="parcel" class="Parcel" /> <context:annotation-config /> </beans> and then my MailMan class would look a lot simpler without the need for annotations: public class Mailman { private String name; private Parcel Parcel; public Mailman(String name) { this.name = name; } }

  • Algorithm for redirecting the traffic

    - by TechGeeky
    I was going through the interview questions and found out the below question which I am not able to answer it. Can anyone provide some sort of algorithm for this problem how can I solve it? There are a cluster of stateless servers all serving the same pages. The servers are hosting 5 web pages- p1.html, p2.html, p3.html, p4.html and p5.html p1.html just redirects users to the other 4 pages Requests to p1.html should result in 10% of users being redirected to p2.html, 5% of users redirected to p3.html, 20% of users redirected to p4.html, and 65% of users redirected to p5.html. Users do not need to stick to the page they are first redirected to. They could end up on a different page with every request to p1.html Write a function/pseudocode that would be invoked with every request to p1.html and redirect the correct percentage of users to the correct page. Any suggestions will be of great help.

  • Is it against best practice to throw Exception on most JUnit tests?

    - by Chris Knight
    Almost all of my JUnit tests are written with the following signature: public void testSomething() throws Exception My reasoning is that I can focus on what I'm testing rather than exception handling which JUnit appears to give me for free. But am I missing anything by doing this? Is it against best practice? Would I gain anything by explicitly catching specific exceptions in my test and then fail()'ing on them?

  • Can I assign a maven dependency to a specific repo?

    - by mds
    So I have several large projects that use up to 8 different external repos, all specified in settings.xml rather than in poms. A lot of our internal dependencies are snapshots, so this obviously causes a lot of checking for updates across several external repos, when they are all in our internal repo. So my question is, is there a way to setup a profile/filter or anything similar where I can ensure that an update will only be checked for in a specific repo(s)? This is all in the spirit of better/quicker builds. Thanks!

  • Spring MVC - JSP - Place to Store Environment Specific Constants

    - by jboyd
    Where in the Spring-MVC/JSP application would you store things that need to be accessed by both the controllers and views such as environment specific base_url's, application ids to be used in javascript and so on? I've tried creating an application scoped bean and then at the top of my JSPs, but that doesn't seem to be working. <!-- Environment --> <bean id="myEnv" class="com.myapp.MyAppEnvironment" scope="application"> <property name="baseUrl" value="http://localhost:8080/myapp/"/> <property name="videoPlayerId" value="234346565"/> </bean> And using it in the following manner <jsp:useBean id="myEnv" scope="application" type="com.myapp.MyAppEnvironment"/>

  • how to Solve the "Digg" problem in MongoDB

    - by user193116
    A while back,a Digg developer had posted this blog ,"http://about.digg.com/blog/looking-future-cassandra", where the he described one of the issues that were not optimally solved in MySQL. This was cited as one of the reasons for their move to Cassandra. I have been playing with MongoDB and I would like to understand how to implement the MongoDB collections for this problem From the article, the schema for this information in MySQL : CREATE TABLE Diggs ( id INT(11), itemid INT(11), userid INT(11), digdate DATETIME, PRIMARY KEY (id), KEY user (userid), KEY item (itemid) ) ENGINE=InnoDB DEFAULT CHARSET=utf8; CREATE TABLE Friends ( id INT(10) AUTO_INCREMENT, userid INT(10), username VARCHAR(15), friendid INT(10), friendname VARCHAR(15), mutual TINYINT(1), date_created DATETIME, PRIMARY KEY (id), UNIQUE KEY Friend_unique (userid,friendid), KEY Friend_friend (friendid) ) ENGINE=InnoDB DEFAULT CHARSET=utf8; This problem is ubiquitous in social networking scenario implementation. People befriend a lot of people and they in turn digg a lot of things. Quickly showing a user what his/her friends are up to is very critical. I understand that several blogs have since then provided a pure RDBMs solution with indexes for this issue; however I am curious as to how this could be solved in MongoDB.

  • Custom annotations to configure tests

    - by ace
    First of al let me start off by saying I think custom annotations can be used for this but i'm not totally sure. I would like to have a set of annotations that I can decorate some test classes with. The annotations would allow me to configure the test for different environments. Example: public class Atest extends BaseTest{ private String env; @Login(environment=env) public void testLogin(){ //do something } @SignUp(environment=env) public void testSignUp(){ //do something } } The idea here would be that the login annotation would then be used to lookup the username and password to be used in the testLogin method for testing a login process for a particular environment. So my question(s) is this possible to do with annotations? If so I have not been able to find a decent howto online to do something like this. Everything out there seems to be your basic here's how to do your custom annotations and a basic processor but I haven't found anything for a situation like this. Ideas?

  • log4j relative file path

    - by Bob
    Hi, I'd like my web app to log into files with this path: webapp/logs/ I can set the absolute path in the log4j.properties file, but the production environment's directory structure will be different. Is there any way I could do it? Here is how I do: log4j.appender.f=org.apache.log4j.RollingFileAppender log4j.appender.f.layout=org.apache.log4j.PatternLayout log4j.appender.f.layout.ConversionPattern=%d{ABSOLUTE} %5p %c{1}:%L - %m%n log4j.appender.f.File=log.out log4j.appender.f.MaxFileSize=100KB This is printing logs into a file named log.log in my eclipse directory (c://eclipse). I'm using Tomcat 6.

  • How can I remove a JPanel from a JFrame?

    - by Roman
    Recently I asked here how to add a new JPanel to JFrame. The answer helped me to get a working code. But not I have a related question: "How can I remove an old JPanel". I need that because of the following problem. A new JPanel appears appears when I want (either time limit is exceeded or user press the "Submit" button). But in several seconds some element of the old JPanel appears together with the component of the new JPanel. I do not understand why it happens. I thought that it is because I have to other threads which update the window. But the first thread just add the old panel once (so, it should be finished). And in the second thread I have a loop which is broken (so, it also should be finished). Here is my code: private Thread controller = new Thread() { public void run() { // First we set the initial pane (for the selection of partner). SwingUtilities.invokeLater(new Runnable() { public void run() { frame.getContentPane().add(generatePartnerSelectionPanel()); frame.invalidate(); frame.validate(); } }); // Update the pane for the selection of the parnter. for (int i=40; i>0; i=i-1) { final int sec = i; SwingUtilities.invokeLater(new Runnable() { public void run() { timeLeftLabel.setText(sec + " seconds left."); } }); try {Thread.sleep(1000);} catch (InterruptedException e) {} if (partnerSubmitted) {break;} } // For the given user the selection phase is finished (either the time is over or form was submitted). SwingUtilities.invokeLater(new Runnable() { public void run() { frame.getContentPane().add(generateWaitForGamePanel()); frame.invalidate(); frame.validate(); } }); } };

  • Problem at JUnit test with generics

    - by Tom Brito
    In my utility method: public static <T> T getField(Object obj, Class c, String fieldName) { try { Field field = c.getDeclaredField(fieldName); field.setAccessible(true); return (T) field.get(obj); } catch (Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); fail(); return null; } } The line return (T) field.get(obj); gives the warning "Type safety: Unchecked cast from Object to T"; but I cannot perform instanceof check against type parameter T, so what am I suppose to do here?

  • How can I retrieve the value of a PASTE (copy-pasta) event in a GWT TextBox?

    - by dominicbri7
    Hello fellow SO members, I want to prevent the user from copy-pasting values in my TextBox IF AND ONLY IF the values do not respect a certain condition. For instance, I created a DigitsOnlyTextBox which will be used for phone numbers. I already made it so only Character.isDigit characters can be typed into the box, and the user cannot copy-paste values into it, using : this.sinkEvents(Event.ONPASTE); and public void onBrowserEvent(Event event) { super.onBrowserEvent(event); // Permet d'empêcher le copier-coller, donc d'entrer des caractères non-numériques if (event.getTypeInt() == Event.ONPASTE) { event.stopPropagation(); event.preventDefault(); } } But I'd like to verify if the copy-pasted String is "digits only" and if so, let the event happen (therefore the text added). tl;dr : see title Thank you for your time. Sincerely.

  • Clean way to combine multiple jars? Preferably using ant

    - by Jacob
    I have runtime dependencies on some external jars that I would like to "rejar" into a single jar. These external dependencies are stored in a external_jars directory, and I'd like to be able to not have to list each one out (e.g., to not need to change my build scripts if my dependencies change). Any thoughts? Google gave me a good answer on how to do this if you don't mind listing out each jar you want as a dependency: http://markmail.org/message/zijbwm46maxzzoo5 Roughly, I want something along the lines of the following, which would combine all jars in lib into out.jar (with some sane overwrite rules). jar -combine -out out.jar -in lib/*.jar

  • Multi-Column Join in Hibernate/JPA Annotations

    - by bowsie
    I have two entities which I would like to join through multiple columns. These columns are shared by an @Embeddable object that is shared by both entities. In the example below, Foo can have only one Bar but Bar can have multiple Foos (where AnEmbeddableObject is a unique key for Bar). Here is an example: @Entity @Table(name = "foo") public class Foo { @Id @Column(name = "id") @GeneratedValue(generator = "seqGen") @SequenceGenerator(name = "seqGen", sequenceName = "FOO_ID_SEQ", allocationSize = 1) private Long id; @Embedded private AnEmbeddableObject anEmbeddableObject; @ManyToOne(targetEntity = Bar.class, fetch = FetchType.LAZY) @JoinColumns( { @JoinColumn(name = "column_1", referencedColumnName = "column_1"), @JoinColumn(name = "column_2", referencedColumnName = "column_2"), @JoinColumn(name = "column_3", referencedColumnName = "column_3"), @JoinColumn(name = "column_4", referencedColumnName = "column_4") }) private Bar bar; // ... rest of class } And the Bar class: @Entity @Table(name = "bar") public class Bar { @Id @Column(name = "id") @GeneratedValue(generator = "seqGen") @SequenceGenerator(name = "seqGen", sequenceName = "BAR_ID_SEQ", allocationSize = 1) private Long id; @Embedded private AnEmbeddableObject anEmbeddableObject; // ... rest of class } Finally the AnEmbeddedObject class: @Embeddable public class AnEmbeddedObject { @Column(name = "column_1") private Long column1; @Column(name = "column_2") private Long column2; @Column(name = "column_3") private Long column3; @Column(name = "column_4") private Long column4; // ... rest of class } Obviously the schema is poorly normalised, it is a restriction that AnEmbeddedObject's fields are repeated in each table. The problem I have is that I receive this error when I try to start up Hibernate: org.hibernate.AnnotationException: referencedColumnNames(column_1, column_2, column_3, column_4) of Foo.bar referencing Bar not mapped to a single property I have tried marking the JoinColumns are not insertable and updatable, but with no luck. Is there a way to express this with Hibernate/JPA annotations? Thank you.

  • GWT: What is the way to handle Click on GWT FlowPanel

    - by shaman.sir
    May be a dumb question, but GWT FlowPanel (raw div element) does not provides something to handle a mouseclick/mousemovement on it. Overriding onBrowserEvent do not works either. If setting onclick event using native JavaScript (need to specify positive height before, 'div' have a height of 0 if not specified), then catching these events is working properly. Is there a way to do it without using JSNI?

  • why it throws index out of bounds exception??

    - by Johanna
    Hi I want to use merge sort for sorting my doubly linked list.I have created 3 classes(Node,DoublyLinkedList,MergeSort) but it will throw this exception for these lines: 1.in the getNodes method of DoublyLinkedList---> throw new IndexOutOfBoundsException(); 2.in the add method of DoublyLinkedList-----> Node cursor = getNodes(index); 3.in the sort method of MergeSort class------> listTwo.add(x,localDoublyLinkedList.getValue(x)); 4.in the main method of DoublyLinkedList----->merge.sort(); this is my Merge class:(I put the whole code for this class for beter understanding) public class MergeSort { private DoublyLinkedList localDoublyLinkedList; public MergeSort(DoublyLinkedList list) { localDoublyLinkedList = list; } public void sort() { if (localDoublyLinkedList.size() <= 1) { return; } DoublyLinkedList listOne = new DoublyLinkedList(); DoublyLinkedList listTwo = new DoublyLinkedList(); for (int x = 0; x < (localDoublyLinkedList.size() / 2); x++) { listOne.add(x, localDoublyLinkedList.getValue(x)); } for (int x = (localDoublyLinkedList.size() / 2) + 1; x < localDoublyLinkedList.size(); x++) { listTwo.add(x, localDoublyLinkedList.getValue(x)); } //Split the DoublyLinkedList again MergeSort sort1 = new MergeSort(listOne); MergeSort sort2 = new MergeSort(listTwo); sort1.sort(); sort2.sort(); merge(listOne, listTwo); } public void merge(DoublyLinkedList a, DoublyLinkedList b) { int x = 0; int y = 0; int z = 0; while (x < a.size() && y < b.size()) { if (a.getValue(x) < b.getValue(y)) { localDoublyLinkedList.add(z, a.getValue(x)); x++; } else { localDoublyLinkedList.add(z, b.getValue(y)); y++; } z++; } //copy remaining elements to the tail of a[]; for (int i = x; i < a.size(); i++) { localDoublyLinkedList.add(z, a.getValue(i)); z++; } for (int i = y; i < b.size(); i++) { localDoublyLinkedList.add(z, b.getValue(i)); z++; } } } and just a part of my DoublyLinkedList: private Node getNodes(int index) throws IndexOutOfBoundsException { if (index < 0 || index > length) { throw new IndexOutOfBoundsException(); } else { Node cursor = head; for (int i = 0; i < index; i++) { cursor = cursor.getNext(); } return cursor; } } public void add(int index, int value) throws IndexOutOfBoundsException { Node cursor = getNodes(index); Node temp = new Node(value); temp.setPrev(cursor); temp.setNext(cursor.getNext()); cursor.getNext().setPrev(temp); cursor.setNext(temp); length++; } public static void main(String[] args) { int i = 0; i = getRandomNumber(10, 10000); DoublyLinkedList list = new DoublyLinkedList(); for (int j = 0; j < i; j++) { list.add(j, getRandomNumber(10, 10000)); MergeSort merge = new MergeSort(list); merge.sort(); System.out.println(list.getValue(j)); } } PLEASE help me thanks alot.
