  • Is SHA-1 secure for password storage?

    - by Tgr
    Some people throw around remarks like "SHA-1 is broken" a lot, so I'm trying to understand what exactly that means. Let's assume I have a database of SHA-1 password hashes, and an attacker whith a state of the art SHA-1 breaking algorithm and a botnet with 100,000 machines gets access to it. (Having control over 100k home computers would mean they can do about 10^15 operations per second.) How much time would they need to find out the password of any one user? find out the password of a given user? find out the password of all users? find a way to log in as one of the users? find a way to log in as a specific user? How does that change if the passwords are salted? Does the method of salting (prefix, postfix, both, or something more complicated like xor-ing) matter? Here is my current understanding, after some googling. Please correct in the answers if I misunderstood something. If there is no salt, a rainbow attack will immediately find all passwords (except extremely long ones). If there is a sufficiently long random salt, the most effective way to find out the passwords is a brute force or dictionary attack. Neither collision nor preimage attacks are any help in finding out the actual password, so cryptographic attacks against SHA-1 are no help here. It doesn't even matter much what algorithm is used - one could even use MD5 or MD4 and the passwords would be just as safe (there is a slight difference because computing a SHA-1 hash is slower). To evaluate how safe "just as safe" is, let's assume that a single sha1 run takes 1000 operations and passwords contain uppercase, lowercase and digits (that is, 60 characters). That means the attacker can test 1015*60*60*24 / 1000 ~= 1017 potential password a day. For a brute force attack, that would mean testing all passwords up to 9 characters in 3 hours, up to 10 characters in a week, up to 11 characters in a year. (It takes 60 times as much for every additional character.) A dictionary attack is much, much faster (even an attacker with a single computer could pull it off in hours), but only finds weak passwords. To log in as a user, the attacker does not need to find out the exact password; it is enough to find a string that results in the same hash. This is called a first preimage attack. As far as I could find, there are no preimage attacks against SHA-1. (A bruteforce attack would take 2160 operations, which means our theoretical attacker would need 1030 years to pull it off. Limits of theoretical possibility are around 260 operations, at which the attack would take a few years.) There are preimage attacks against reduced versions of SHA-1 with negligible effect (for the reduced SHA-1 which uses 44 steps instead of 80, attack time is down from 2160 operations to 2157). There are collision attacks against SHA-1 which are well within theoretical possibility (the best I found brings the time down from 280 to 252), but those are useless against password hashes, even without salting. In short, storing passwords with SHA-1 seems perfectly safe. Did I miss something?

  • Convert extended ASCII characters to it's right presentation using Console.ReadKey() method and ConsoleKeyInfo variable

    - by mishamosher
    Readed about 30 minutes, and didn't found some specific for this in this site. Suppose the following, in C#, console application: ConsoleKeyInfo cki; cki = Console.ReadKey(true); Console.WriteLine(cki.KeyChar.ToString()); //Or Console.WriteLine(cki.KeyChar) as well Console.ReadKey(true); Now, let's put ¿ in the console entry, and asign it to cki via a Console.ReadKey(true). What will be shown isn't the ¿ symbol, the ¨ symbol is the one that's shown instead. And the same happens with many other characters. Examples: ñ shows ¤, ¡ shows -, ´ shows ï. Now, let's take the same code snipplet and add some things for a more Console.ReadLine() like behavior: string data = string.Empty; ConsoleKeyInfo cki; for (int i = 0; i < 10; i++) { cki = Console.ReadKey(true); data += cki.KeyChar; } Console.WriteLine(data); Console.ReadKey(true); The question, how to handle this by the right way, end printing the right characters that should be stored on data, not things like ¨, ¤, -, ï, etc? Please note that I want a solution that works with ConsoleKeyInfo and Console.ReadKey(), not use other variable types, or read methods. EDIT: Because ReadKey() method, that comes from Console namespace, depends on Kernel32.dll and it definetively bad handles the extended ASCII and unicode, it's not an option anymore to just find a valid conversion for what it returns. The only valid way to handle the bad behavior of ReadKey() is to use the cki.Key property that's written in cki = Console.ReadKey(true) execution and apply a switch to it, then, return the right values on dependence of what key was pressed. For example, to handle the Ñ key pressing: string data = string.Empty; ConsoleKeyInfo cki; cki = Console.ReadKey(true); switch (cki.Key) { case ConsoleKey.Oem3: if (cki.Modifiers.ToString().Contains("Shift")) //Could added handlers for Alt and Control, but not putted in here to keep the code small and simple data += "Ñ"; else data += "ñ"; break; } Console.WriteLine(data); Console.ReadKey(true); So, now the question has a wider focus... Which others functions completes it's execution with only one key pressed, and returns what's pressed (a substitute of ReadKey())? I think that there's not such substitutes, but a confirmed answer would be usefull. EDIT2: HA! Found the way, for something I used for so many times Windows 98 SE. There are the codepages, the ones responsibles for how's presented the info in the console. ReadLine() reconfigures the codepage to use properly the extended ASCII and Unicode characters. ReadKey() leaves it in EN-US default (codepage 850). Just use a codepage that prints the characters you want, and that's all. Refer to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Code_page for some of them :) So, for the Ñ key press, the solution is this: Console.OutputEncoding = Encoding.GetEncoding(1252); //Also 28591 is valid for `Ñ` key, and others too string data = string.Empty; ConsoleKeyInfo cki; cki = Console.ReadKey(true); data += cki.KeyChar; Console.WriteLine(data); Console.ReadKey(true); Simple :) Now I'm wrrr with myself... how could I forget those codepages!? Question answered, so, no more about this!

  • DataTrigger inside ControlTemplate doesn't update

    - by kennethkryger
    I have a ListBox that is bound to a list of CustomerViewModel-objects, that each has two dependency properties: - Name (string) - Description (string) - IsVisible (bool) (the IsVisible property is True by default and is reversed via the ToggleVisibility Command on the CustomerViewModel) I would like to display the Name and Description to the right of a Border-control, that is has a Transparent background when the IsVisible property is True and Green when the False. My problem is that the DataTrigger part of the code below doesn't work the way I want, because the Setter-part isn't triggered when the IsVisible is changed. What am I doing wrong? Here's my code: <UserControl.Resources> <Style x:Key="ListBoxStyle" TargetType="{x:Type ListBox}"> <Setter Property="Margin" Value="-1,-1,0,0" /> <Setter Property="BorderThickness" Value="0" /> <Setter Property="Background" Value="Transparent" /> <Setter Property="ItemContainerStyle" Value="{DynamicResource ListboxItemStyle}" /> <Setter Property="ScrollViewer.HorizontalScrollBarVisibility" Value="Disabled" /> </Style> <Style x:Key="ListboxItemStyle" TargetType="{x:Type ListBoxItem}"> <Setter Property="Background" Value="Transparent" /> <Setter Property="FocusVisualStyle" Value="{x:Null}" /> <Setter Property="Template"> <Setter.Value> <ControlTemplate TargetType="{x:Type ListBoxItem}"> <Grid> <Border x:Name="border" Background="{TemplateBinding Background}" BorderBrush="#FFD4D6D5" BorderThickness="0,0,0,1"> <Grid Height="70" Margin="0,0,10,0"> <Grid.RowDefinitions> <RowDefinition Height="10" /> <RowDefinition Height="Auto" /> <RowDefinition /> <RowDefinition Height="10" /> </Grid.RowDefinitions> <Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <ColumnDefinition Width="Auto" /> <ColumnDefinition /> </Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <Border x:Name="visibilityColumn" Grid.Row="0" Grid.Column="0" Grid.RowSpan="4" Background="Transparent" Width="4" Margin="0,0,4,0" /> <TextBlock x:Name="customerName" Grid.Row="1" Grid.Column="1" Foreground="#FF191919" FontWeight="Bold" Text="{Binding Name}" VerticalAlignment="Top" /> <TextBlock Grid.Row="2" Grid.Column="1" VerticalAlignment="Stretch" Text="{Binding Description}" TextWrapping="Wrap" Foreground="#FFB4B4B4" TextTrimming="CharacterEllipsis" /> </Grid> <Border.ContextMenu> <ContextMenu> <MenuItem Header="Edit..." /> <MenuItem Header="Visible" IsCheckable="True" IsChecked="{Binding IsVisible}" Command="{Binding ToggleVisibility}"/> </ContextMenu> </Border.ContextMenu> </Border> </Grid> <ControlTemplate.Triggers> <Trigger Property="IsMouseOver" Value="True"> <Setter Property="Background" Value="#FFEEEEEE" /> </Trigger> <Trigger Property="IsSelected" Value="True"> <Setter Property="Background" Value="#FFF5F5F5" /> <Setter TargetName="customerName" Property="Foreground" Value="Green" /> </Trigger> <DataTrigger Binding="{Binding IsVisible}" Value="False"> <!--If Value="True" the customerName Border shows up green!--> <Setter Property="Background" Value="Green" /> </DataTrigger> </ControlTemplate.Triggers> </ControlTemplate> </Setter.Value> </Setter> </Style> </UserControl.Resources> <ListBox Style="{StaticResource ListBoxStyle}" ItemsSource="{Binding CustomerViewModels}" />

  • WPF DataTemplateKey can not find ListBox key

    - by Ryan
    I am fairly new to WPF and am having trouble getting the DataTemplateKey to find my ListBox. <Window.Resources> <ControlTemplate x:Key="FocusTemplate" > <Rectangle Fill="Azure" Width="290" Height="55" /> </ControlTemplate> <Style x:Key="FocusStyle" TargetType="{x:Type Control}"> <Setter Property="Template" Value="{StaticResource FocusTemplate}"/> </Style> <Style TargetType="ListBoxItem"> <EventSetter Event="GotFocus" Handler="ListItem_GotFocus"></EventSetter> </Style> <DataTemplate DataType="{x:Type TextBlock}"> </DataTemplate> <DataTemplate x:Key="CustomListData" DataType="{x:Type ListBox}"> <Border BorderBrush="Black" BorderThickness="1" Margin="-2,0,0,-1"> <Grid> <Grid.RowDefinitions> <RowDefinition Height="55*" /> </Grid.RowDefinitions> <Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <ColumnDefinition Width="Auto" /> <ColumnDefinition Width="*" /> </Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <Grid.RenderTransform> <TransformGroup> <ScaleTransform ScaleX="1" ScaleY="1"/> <SkewTransform AngleX="0" AngleY="0"/> <RotateTransform Angle="0"/> <TranslateTransform X="0" Y="0"/> </TransformGroup> </Grid.RenderTransform> <!--<ScrollViewer x:Name="PART_ContentHost" />--> <TextBox Width="290" TextAlignment="Left" VerticalContentAlignment="Center" BorderThickness="0" BorderBrush="Transparent" Foreground="#FF6FB8FD" FontSize="18" FocusVisualStyle="{StaticResource FocusStyle}" Name="editingBox" TextWrapping="Wrap" Text="{Binding .}" Grid.Column="1" Grid.Row="1" MinHeight="55" Cursor="Hand" IsReadOnly="True" > <TextBox.Background> <LinearGradientBrush EndPoint="0,1" StartPoint="0,0"> <LinearGradientBrush.RelativeTransform> <TransformGroup> <ScaleTransform CenterX="0.5" CenterY="0.5"/> <SkewTransform CenterX="0.5" CenterY="0.5"/> <RotateTransform Angle="0" CenterX="0.5" CenterY="0.5"/> <TranslateTransform/> </TransformGroup> </LinearGradientBrush.RelativeTransform> <GradientStop Color="#FF2D4984"/> <GradientStop Color="#FF182D56" Offset="0.042"/> </LinearGradientBrush> </TextBox.Background> </TextBox> </Grid> </Border> </DataTemplate> <Style TargetType="{x:Type ListBox}"> <Setter Property="ItemTemplate" Value="{StaticResource CustomListData }" /> <Setter Property="ScrollViewer.HorizontalScrollBarVisibility" Value="Disabled" /> </Style> </Window.Resources> <Window.DataContext> <ObjectDataProvider ObjectType="{x:Type local:ImageLoader}" MethodName="LoadImages" /> </Window.DataContext> <ListBox ItemsSource="{Binding}" Width="320" Background="#FF021422" BorderBrush="#FF1C4B79"> <ListBox.Resources> <SolidColorBrush x:Key="{x:Static SystemColors.HighlightBrushKey}">Transparent</SolidColorBrush> </ListBox.Resources> </ListBox> The following code will find a TextBlock var key = new System.Windows.DataTemplateKey(typeof(TextBlock)); var r = (DataTemplate)this.FindResource(key); However, when I change the type to ListBox, the key can not be found. What have I missed? Thanks Ryan

  • NullPointerException in ItemizedOverlay.getIndexToDraw

    - by lyricsboy
    I have a relatively simple MapActivity that I'm trying to make display a list of "camps" within a given map region. I've created a custom subclass of OverlayItem called CampOverlayItem, a custom ItemizedOverlay called CampsOverlay that returns CampOverlayItems, and of course a MapActivity subclass that populates the map. I'm pulling the overlay data from a database using an AsyncTask as created in my activity. The AsyncTask is triggered from a ViewTreeObserver.OnGlobalLayoutListener attached to the MapView. In the onPostExecute method of the AsyncTask, I create a new instance of my CampsOverlay class and pass it a list of the camps returned from the database (which are fetched in doInBackground). I then call: mapView.getOverlays().add(newOverlay); where newOverlay is the CampsOverlay I just created. All of this code runs without error, but when the Map tries to draw itself, I get a NullPointerException with the following stack trace: java.lang.NullPointerException at com.google.android.maps.ItemizedOverlay.getIndexToDraw(ItemizedOverlay.java: 211) at com.google.android.maps.ItemizedOverlay.draw(ItemizedOverlay.java:240) at com.google.android.maps.Overlay.draw(Overlay.java:179) at com.google.android.maps.OverlayBundle.draw(OverlayBundle.java: 42) at com.google.android.maps.MapView.onDraw(MapView.java:476) at android.view.View.draw(View.java:6274) at android.view.ViewGroup.drawChild(ViewGroup.java:1526) at android.view.ViewGroup.dispatchDraw(ViewGroup.java:1256) at android.view.ViewGroup.drawChild(ViewGroup.java:1524) at android.view.ViewGroup.dispatchDraw(ViewGroup.java:1256) at android.view.View.draw(View.java:6277) at android.widget.FrameLayout.draw(FrameLayout.java:352) at android.view.ViewGroup.drawChild(ViewGroup.java:1526) at android.view.ViewGroup.dispatchDraw(ViewGroup.java:1256) at android.view.ViewGroup.drawChild(ViewGroup.java:1524) at android.view.ViewGroup.dispatchDraw(ViewGroup.java:1256) at android.view.ViewGroup.drawChild(ViewGroup.java:1524) at android.view.ViewGroup.dispatchDraw(ViewGroup.java:1256) at android.view.ViewGroup.drawChild(ViewGroup.java:1524) at android.view.ViewGroup.dispatchDraw(ViewGroup.java:1256) at android.view.ViewGroup.drawChild(ViewGroup.java:1524) at android.view.ViewGroup.dispatchDraw(ViewGroup.java:1256) at android.view.View.draw(View.java:6277) at android.widget.FrameLayout.draw(FrameLayout.java:352) at android.view.ViewGroup.drawChild(ViewGroup.java:1526) at android.view.ViewGroup.dispatchDraw(ViewGroup.java:1256) at android.view.View.draw(View.java:6277) at android.widget.FrameLayout.draw(FrameLayout.java:352) at com.android.internal.policy.impl.PhoneWindow $DecorView.draw(PhoneWindow.java:1883) at android.view.ViewRoot.draw(ViewRoot.java:1332) at android.view.ViewRoot.performTraversals(ViewRoot.java:1097) at android.view.ViewRoot.handleMessage(ViewRoot.java:1613) at android.os.Handler.dispatchMessage(Handler.java:99) at android.os.Looper.loop(Looper.java:123) at android.app.ActivityThread.main(ActivityThread.java:4203) at java.lang.reflect.Method.invokeNative(Native Method) at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Method.java:521) at com.android.internal.os.ZygoteInit $MethodAndArgsCaller.run(ZygoteInit.java:791) at com.android.internal.os.ZygoteInit.main(ZygoteInit.java:549) at dalvik.system.NativeStart.main(Native Method) Because it seems particularly relevant, here is the code for my ItemizedOverlay subclass: public class CampsOverlay extends ItemizedOverlay<CampOverlayItem> { private ArrayList<Camp> camps = null; public CampsOverlay(Drawable defaultMarker, ArrayList<Camp> theCamps) { super(defaultMarker); this.camps = theCamps; } @Override protected CampOverlayItem createItem(int i) { Camp camp = camps.get(i); CampOverlayItem item = new CampOverlayItem(camp); return item; } @Override protected boolean onTap(int index) { // TODO Auto-generated method stub return super.onTap(index); } @Override public int size() { return camps.size(); } } Does anyone have any idea what could be happening here? I've attempted to verify that everything I have control over is non-null. I can provide more code if necessary.

  • ASP.NET MVC 2 "value" in IsValid override in DataAnnotation attribute passed is null, when incorrect

    - by goldenelf2
    Hello to all! This is my first question here on stack overflow. i need help on a problem i encountered during an ASP.NET MVC2 project i am currently working on. I should note that I'm relatively new to MVC design, so pls bear my ignorance. Here goes : I have a regular form on which various details about a person are shown. One of them is "Date of Birth". My view is like this <div class="form-items"> <%: Html.Label("DateOfBirth", "Date of Birth:") %> <%: Html.EditorFor(m => m.DateOfBirth) %> <%: Html.ValidationMessageFor(m => m.DateOfBirth) %> </div> I'm using an editor template i found, to show only the date correctly : <%@ Control Language="C#" Inherits="System.Web.Mvc.ViewUserControl<System.DateTime?>"%> <%= Html.TextBox("", (Model.HasValue ? Model.Value.ToShortDateString() : string.Empty))%> I used LinqToSql designer to create my model from an sql database. In order to do some validation i made a partial class Person to extend the one created by the designer (under the same namespace) : [MetadataType(typeof(IPerson))] public partial class Person : IPerson { //To create buddy class } public interface IPerson { [Required(ErrorMessage="Please enter a name")] string Name { get; set; } [Required(ErrorMessage="Please enter a surname")] string Surname { get; set; } [Birthday] DateTime? DateOfBirth { get; set; } [Email(ErrorMessage="Please enter a valid email")] string Email { get; set; } } I want to make sure that a correct date is entered. So i created a custom DataAnnotation attribute in order to validate the date : public class BirthdayAttribute : ValidationAttribute { private const string _errorMessage = "Please enter a valid date"; public BirthdayAttribute() : base(_errorMessage) { } public override bool IsValid(object value) { if (value == null) { return true; } DateTime temp; bool result = DateTime.TryParse(value.ToString(), out temp); return result; } } Well, my problem is this. Once i enter an incorrect date in the DateOfBirth field then no custom message is displayed even if use the attribute like [Birthday(ErrorMessage=".....")]. The message displayed is the one returned from the db ie "The value '32/4/1967' is not valid for DateOfBirth.". I tried to enter some break points around the code, and found out that the "value" in attribute is always null when the date is incorrect, but always gets a value if the date is in correct format. The same ( value == null) is passed also in the code generated by the designer. This thing is driving me nuts. Please can anyone help me deal with this? Also if someone can tell me where exactly is the point of entry from the view to the database. Is it related to the model binder? because i wanted to check exactly what value is passed once i press the "submit" button. Thank you.

  • Custom links in RichTextBox

    Suppose I want every word starting with a # to generate an event on double click. For this I have implemented the following test code: private bool IsChannel(Point position, out int start, out int end) { if (richTextBox1.Text.Length == 0) { start = end = -1; return false; } int index = richTextBox1.GetCharIndexFromPosition(position); int stop = index; while (index >= 0 && richTextBox1.Text[index] != '#') { if (richTextBox1.Text[index] == ' ') { break; } --index; } if (index < 0 || richTextBox1.Text[index] != '#') { start = end = -1; return false; } while (stop < richTextBox1.Text.Length && richTextBox1.Text[stop] != ' ') { ++stop; } --stop; start = index; end = stop; return true; } private void richTextBox1_MouseMove(object sender, MouseEventArgs e) { textBox1.Text = richTextBox1.GetCharIndexFromPosition(new Point(e.X, e.Y)).ToString(); int d1, d2; if (IsChannel(new Point(e.X, e.Y), out d1, out d2) == true) { if (richTextBox1.Cursor != Cursors.Hand) { richTextBox1.Cursor = Cursors.Hand; } } else { richTextBox1.Cursor = Cursors.Arrow; } } This handles detecting words that start with # and making the mouse cursor a hand when it hovers over them. However, I have the following two problems: If I try to implement a double click event for richTextBox1, I can detect when a word is clicked, however that word is highlighted (selected), which I'd like to avoid. I can deselect it programmatically by selecting the end of the text, but that causes a flicker, which I would like to avoid. What ways are there to do this? The GetCharIndexFromPosition method returns the index of the character that is closest to the cursor. This means that if the only thing my RichTextBox contains is a word starting with a # then the cursor will be a hand no matter where on the rich text control it is. How can I make it so that it is only a hand when it hovers over an actual word or character that is part of a word I'm interested in? The implemented URL detection also partially suffers from this problem. If I enable detection of URLs and only write www.test.com in the rich text editor, the cursor will be a hand as long as it is on or below the link. It will not be a hand if it's to the right of the link however. I'm fine even with this functionality if making the cursor a hand if and only if it's on the text proves to be too difficult. I'm guessing I'll have to resort to some sort of Windows API calls, but I don't really know where to start. I am using Visual Studio 2008 and I would like to implement this myself. Update: The flickering problem would be solved if I could make it so that no text is selectable through double clicking, only through dragging the mouse cursor. Is this easier to achieve? Because I don't really care if one can select text or not by double clicking in this case.

  • Win32: IProgressDialog will not disappear until you mouse over it.

    - by Ian Boyd
    i'm using the Win32 progress dialog. The damnest thing is that when i call: progressDialog.StopProgressDialog(); it doesn't disappear. It stays on screen until the user moves her mouse over it - then it suddenly disappers. The call to StopProgressDialog returns right away (i.e. it's not a synchronous call). i can prove this by doing things after the call has returned: private void button1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { //Force red background to prove we've started this.BackColor = Color.Red; this.Refresh(); //Start a progress dialog IProgressDialog pd = (IProgressDialog)new ProgressDialog(); pd.StartProgressDialog(this.Handle, null, PROGDLG.Normal, IntPtr.Zero); //The long running operation System.Threading.Thread.Sleep(10000); //Stop the progress dialog pd.SetLine(1, "Stopping Progress Dialog", false, IntPtr.Zero); pd.StopProgressDialog(); pd = null; //Return form to normal color to prove we've stopped. this.BackColor = SystemColors.Control; this.Refresh(); } The form: starts gray turns red to show we've stared turns back to gray color to show we've called stop So the call to StopProgressDialog has returned, except the progress dialog is still sitting there, mocking me, showing the message: Stopping Progress Dialog Doesn't Appear for 10 seconds Additionally, the progress dialog does not appear on screen until the System.Threading.Thread.Sleep(10000); ten second sleep is over. Not limited to .NET WinForms The same code also fails in Delphi, which is also an object wrapper around Window's windows: procedure TForm1.Button1Click(Sender: TObject); var pd: IProgressDialog; begin Self.Color := clRed; Self.Repaint; pd := CoProgressDialog.Create; pd.StartProgressDialog(Self.Handle, nil, PROGDLG_NORMAL, nil); Sleep(10000); pd.SetLine(1, StringToOleStr('Stopping Progress Dialog'), False, nil); pd.StopProgressDialog; pd := nil; Self.Color := clBtnFace; Self.Repaint; end; PreserveSig An exception would be thrown if StopProgressDialog was failing. Most of the methods in IProgressDialog, when translated into C# (or into Delphi), use the compiler's automatic mechanism of converting failed COM HRESULTS into a native language exception. In other words the following two signatures will throw an exception if the COM call returned an error HRESULT (i.e. a value less than zero): //C# void StopProgressDialog(); //Delphi procedure StopProgressDialog; safecall; Whereas the following lets you see the HRESULT's and react yourself: //C# [PreserveSig] int StopProgressDialog(); //Delphi function StopProgressDialog: HRESULT; stdcall; HRESULT is a 32-bit value. If the high-bit is set (or the value is negative) it is an error. i am using the former syntax. So if StopProgressDialog is returning an error it will be automatically converted to a language exception. Note: Just for SaG i used the [PreserveSig] syntax, the returned HRESULT is zero; MsgWait? The symptom is similar to what Raymond Chen described once, which has to do with the incorrect use of PeekMessage followed by MsgWaitForMultipleObjects: "Sometimes my program gets stuck and reports one fewer record than it should. I have to jiggle the mouse to get the value to update. After a while longer, it falls two behind, then three..." But that would mean that the failure is in IProgressDialog, since it fails equally well on CLR .NET WinForms and native Win32 code.

  • How to access a PHP Web Service from ASP.Net?

    I am trying use a web service in a C# ASP.Net Web Application. The service is built in php and is located on some remote server not under my control so i cant modify it to add meta data or something else into it. • Persistence classes in Qt

    - by zarzych
    Hi, I'm porting a medium-sized CRUD application from .Net to Qt and I'm looking for a pattern for creating persistence classes. In .Net I usually created abstract persistence class with basic methods (insert, update, delete, select) for example: public class DAOBase<T> { public T GetByPrimaryKey(object primaryKey) {...} public void DeleteByPrimaryKey(object primaryKey) {...} public List<T> GetByField(string fieldName, object value) {...} public void Insert(T dto) {...} public void Update(T dto) {...} } Then, I subclassed it for specific tables/DTOs and added attributes for DB table layout: [DBTable("note", "note_id", NpgsqlTypes.NpgsqlDbType.Integer)] [DbField("note_id", NpgsqlTypes.NpgsqlDbType.Integer, "NoteId")] [DbField("client_id", NpgsqlTypes.NpgsqlDbType.Integer, "ClientId")] [DbField("title", NpgsqlTypes.NpgsqlDbType.Text, "Title", "")] [DbField("body", NpgsqlTypes.NpgsqlDbType.Text, "Body", "")] [DbField("date_added", NpgsqlTypes.NpgsqlDbType.Date, "DateAdded")] class NoteDAO : DAOBase<NoteDTO> { } Thanks to .Net reflection system I was able to achieve heavy code reuse and easy creation of new ORMs. The simplest way to do this kind of stuff in Qt seems to be using model classes from QtSql module. Unfortunately, in my case they provide too abstract an interface. I need at least transactions support and control over individual commits which QSqlTableModel doesn't provide. Could you give me some hints about solving this problem using Qt or point me to some reference materials? Update: Based on Harald's clues I've implemented a solution that is quite similar to the .Net classes above. Now I have two classes. UniversalDAO that inherits QObject and deals with QObject DTOs using metatype system: class UniversalDAO : public QObject { Q_OBJECT public: UniversalDAO(QSqlDatabase dataBase, QObject *parent = 0); virtual ~UniversalDAO(); void insert(const QObject &dto); void update(const QObject &dto); void remove(const QObject &dto); void getByPrimaryKey(QObject &dto, const QVariant &key); }; And a generic SpecializedDAO that casts data obtained from UniversalDAO to appropriate type: template<class DTO> class SpecializedDAO { public: SpecializedDAO(UniversalDAO *universalDao) virtual ~SpecializedDAO() {} DTO defaultDto() const { return DTO; } void insert(DTO dto) { dao->insert(dto); } void update(DTO dto) { dao->update(dto); } void remove(DTO dto) { dao->remove(dto); } DTO getByPrimaryKey(const QVariant &key); }; Using the above, I declare the concrete DAO class as following: class ClientDAO : public QObject, public SpecializedDAO<ClientDTO> { Q_OBJECT public: ClientDAO(UniversalDAO *dao, QObject *parent = 0) : QObject(parent), SpecializedDAO<ClientDTO>(dao) {} }; From within ClientDAO I have to set some database information for UniversalDAO. That's where my implementation gets ugly because I do it like this: QMap<QString, QString> fieldMapper; fieldMapper["client_id"] = "clientId"; fieldMapper["name"] = "firstName"; /* ...all column <-> field pairs in here... */ dao->setFieldMapper(fieldMapper); dao->setTable("client"); dao->setPrimaryKey("client_id"); I do it in constructor so it's not visible at a first glance for someone browsing through the header. In .Net version it was easy to spot and understand. Do you have some ideas how I could make it better?

  • Drawing a TextBox in an extended Glass Frame w/o WPF

    - by Lazlo
    I am trying to draw a TextBox on the extended glass frame of my form. I won't describe this technique, it's well-known. Here's an example for those who haven't heard of it: http://www.danielmoth.com/Blog/Vista-Glass-In-C.aspx The thing is, it is complex to draw over this glass frame. Since black is considered to be the 0-alpha color, anything black disappears. There are apparently ways of countering this problem: drawing complex GDI+ shapes are not affected by this alpha-ness. For example, this code can be used to draw a Label on glass (note: GraphicsPath is used instead of DrawString in order to get around the horrible ClearType problem): public class GlassLabel : Control { public GlassLabel() { this.BackColor = Color.Black; } protected override void OnPaint(PaintEventArgs e) { GraphicsPath font = new GraphicsPath(); font.AddString( this.Text, this.Font.FontFamily, (int)this.Font.Style, this.Font.Size, Point.Empty, StringFormat.GenericDefault); e.Graphics.SmoothingMode = SmoothingMode.HighQuality; e.Graphics.FillPath(new SolidBrush(this.ForeColor), font); } } Similarly, such an approach can be used to create a container on the glass area. Note the use of the polygons instead of the rectangle - when using the rectangle, its black parts are considered as alpha. public class GlassPanel : Panel { public GlassPanel() { this.BackColor = Color.Black; } protected override void OnPaint(PaintEventArgs e) { Point[] area = new Point[] { new Point(0, 1), new Point(1, 0), new Point(this.Width - 2, 0), new Point(this.Width - 1, 1), new Point(this.Width -1, this.Height - 2), new Point(this.Width -2, this.Height-1), new Point(1, this.Height -1), new Point(0, this.Height - 2) }; Point[] inArea = new Point[] { new Point(1, 1), new Point(this.Width - 1, 1), new Point(this.Width - 1, this.Height - 1), new Point(this.Width - 1, this.Height - 1), new Point(1, this.Height - 1) }; e.Graphics.FillPolygon(new SolidBrush(Color.FromArgb(240, 240, 240)), inArea); e.Graphics.DrawPolygon(new Pen(Color.FromArgb(55, 0, 0, 0)), area); base.OnPaint(e); } } Now my problem is: How can I draw a TextBox? After lots of Googling, I came up with the following solutions: Subclassing the TextBox's OnPaint method. This is possible, although I could not get it to work properly. It should involve painting some magic things I don't know how to do yet. Making my own custom TextBox, perhaps on a TextBoxBase. If anyone has good, valid and working examples, and thinks this could be a good overall solution, please tell me. Using BufferedPaintSetAlpha. (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms649805.aspx). The downsides of this method may be that the corners of the textbox might look odd, but I can live with that. If anyone knows how to implement that method properly from a Graphics object, please tell me. I personally don't, but this seems the best solution so far. To be honest, I found a great C++ article, but I am way too lazy to convert it. http://weblogs.asp.net/kennykerr/archive/2007/01/23/controls-and-the-desktop-window-manager.aspx Note: If I ever succeed with the BufferedPaint methods, I swear to s/o that I will make a simple DLL with all the common Windows Forms controls drawable on glass.

  • JAXB marshals XML differently to OutputStream vs. StringWriter

    - by Andy
    I apologize if this has been answered, but the search terms I have been using (i.e. JAXB @XmlAttribute condensed or JAXB XML marshal to String different results) aren't coming up with anything. I am using JAXB to un/marshal objects annotated with @XmlElement and @XmlAttribute annotations. I have a formatter class which provides two methods -- one wraps the marshal method and accepts the object to marshal and an OutputStream, the other just accepts the object and returns the XML output as a String. Unfortunately, these methods do not provide the same output for the same objects. When marshaling to a file, simple object fields internally marked with @XmlAttribute are printed as: <element value="VALUE"></element> while when marshaling to a String, they are: <element value="VALUE"/> I would prefer the second format for both cases, but I am curious as to how to control the difference, and would settle for them being the same regardless. I even created one static marshaller that both methods use to eliminate different instance values. The formatting code follows: /** Marker interface for classes which are listed in jaxb.index */ public interface Marshalable {} /** Local exception class */ public class XMLMarshalException extends BaseException {} /** Class which un/marshals objects to XML */ public class XmlFormatter { private static Marshaller marshaller = null; private static Unmarshaller unmarshaller = null; static { try { JAXBContext context = JAXBContext.newInstance("path.to.package"); marshaller = context.createMarshaller(); marshaller.setProperty(Marshaller.JAXB_FORMATTED_OUTPUT, true); marshaller.setProperty(Marshaller.JAXB_ENCODING, "UTF-8"); unmarshaller = context.createUnmarshaller(); } catch (JAXBException e) { throw new RuntimeException("There was a problem creating a JAXBContext object for formatting the object to XML."); } } public void marshal(Marshalable obj, OutputStream os) throws XMLMarshalException { try { marshaller.marshal(obj, os); } catch (JAXBException jaxbe) { throw new XMLMarshalException(jaxbe); } } public String marshalToString(Marshalable obj) throws XMLMarshalException { try { StringWriter sw = new StringWriter(); marshaller.marshal(obj, sw); } catch (JAXBException jaxbe) { throw new XMLMarshalException(jaxbe); } } } /** Example data */ @XmlType @XmlAccessorType(XmlAccessType.FIELD) public class Data { @XmlAttribute(name = value) private String internalString; } /** Example POJO */ @XmlType @XmlRootElement(namespace = "project/schema") @XmlAccessorType(XmlAccessType.FIELD) public class Container implements Marshalable { @XmlElement(required = false, nillable = true) private int number; @XmlElement(required = false, nillable = true) private String word; @XmlElement(required = false, nillable = true) private Data data; } The result of calling marshal(container, new FileOutputStream("output.xml")) and marshalToString(container) are as follows: Output to file <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes"?> <ns2:container xmlns:ns2="project/schema"> <number>1</number> <word>stackoverflow</word> <data value="This is internal"></data> </ns2:container> and Output to String <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes"?> <ns2:container xmlns:ns2="project/schema"> <number>1</number> <word>stackoverflow</word> <data value="This is internal"/> </ns2:container>

  • XmlException - inserting attribute gives "unexpected token" exception

    - by Anders Svensson
    Hi, I have an XmlDocument object in C# that I transform, using XslTransform, to html. In the stylesheet I insert an id attribute in a span tag, taking the id from an element in the XmlDocument. Here is the template for the element: <xsl:template match="word"> <span> <xsl:attribute name="id"><xsl:value-of select="@id"></xsl:value-of></xsl:attribute> <xsl:apply-templates/> </span> </xsl:template> But then I want to process the result document as an xhtml document (using the XmlDocument dom). So I'm taking a selected element in the html, creating a range out of it, and try to load the element using XmlLoad(): wordElem.LoadXml(range.htmlText); But this gives me the following exception: "'598' is an unexpected token. The expected token is '"' or '''. Line 1, position 10." And if I move the cursor over the range.htmlText, I see the tags for the element, and the "id" shows without quotes, which confuses me (i.e.SPAN id=598 instead of SPAN id="598"). To confuse the matter further, if I insert a blank space or something like that in the value of the id in the stylesheet, it works fine, i.e.: <span> <xsl:attribute name="id"><xsl:text> </xsl:text> <xsl:value-of select="@id"></xsl:value-of></xsl:attribute> <xsl:apply-templates/> </span> (Notice the whitespace in the xsl:text element). Now if I move the cursor over the range.htmlText, I see an id with quotes as usual in attributes (and as it shows if I open the html file in notepad or something). What is going on here? Why can't I insert an attribute this way and have a result that is acceptable as xhtml for XmlDocument to read? I feel I am missing something fundamental, but all this surprises me, since I do this sort of transformations using xsl:attribute to insert attributes all the time for other types of xsl transformations. Why doesn't XmlDocument accept this value? By the way, it doesn't matter if it is an id attribute. i have tried with the "class" attribute, "style" etc, and also using literal values such as "style" and setting the value to "color:red" and so on. The compiler always complains it is an unvalid token, and does not include quotes for the value unless there is a whitespace or something else in there (linebreaks etc.). I hope I have provided enough information. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Basically, what I want to accomplish is set an id in a span element in html, select a word in a webbrowser control with this document loaded, and get the id attribute out of the selected element. I've accomplished everything, and can actually do what I want, but only if I use regex e.g. to get the attribute value, and I want to be able to use XmlDocument instead to simply get the value out of the attribute directly. I'm sure I'm missing something simple, but if so please tell me. Regards, Anders

  • Python - Bitmap won't draw/display

    - by Wallter
    I have been working on this project for some time now - it was originally supposed to be a test to see if, using wxPython, I could build a button 'from scratch.' I've gotten the staticBitmap(...) to display one, but it won't move, resize, or anything for that matter... - it's only in the top left corner of the frame? Note: the frame is 400pxl X 400pxl - and the "/home/wallter/Desktop/Mouseover.bmp"

  • MVC keeping the PartialView in its own context - ignore the main view holding the partial view

    - by Mike
    I'm looking at the partialview components of the MVC Framework. i want my partial view to be handled in its own action and for the rest of the view to handle itself, but i'm getting an exception because the main page is not getting its view fired. Am i going around this the wrong way? My Main View (Jobs/Index.aspx): <%@ Page Title="" Language="C#" MasterPageFile="~/Views/Shared/Site.Master" Inherits="System.Web.Mvc.ViewPage<MvcApplication3.Models.JobViewModel>" %> <asp:Content ID="Content2" ContentPlaceHolderID="MainContent" runat="server"> <% Html.RenderPartial("JobListing", Model.Jobs); %> </asp:Content> The partialview (Jobs/JobListing.ascx): <%@ Control Language="C#" Inherits="System.Web.Mvc.ViewUserControl<List<MvcApplication3.Models.Job>>" %> <table> <tr> <td> Job Title </td> <td> Job Location</td> </tr> <% foreach (var job in Model) { %> <tr> <td> <%= job.Title %> </td> <td> <%= job.Location %> </td> </tr> <% } %> <% Html.BeginForm("DoSomeStuff", "Job", null, FormMethod.Post); %> <%= Html.TextBox("SomeInfo") %> <button type="submit" id="submit" /> <% Html.EndForm(); %> The main controller for both the main view (Index) and the partialview (DoSomeStuff()) public class JobController : Controller { public ActionResult Index() { JobProvider provider = new JobProvider(Session); JobViewModel vm = new JobViewModel(); vm.Jobs = provider.GetJobs(); return View(vm); } public PartialViewResult DoSomeStuff() { return PartialView("JobListing"); } } As you can see in the partial view, it has its own form that posts to the Action called DoSomeStuff(). i want this action to handle any data submitted from that form. but when the form is submitted the main action (Index) does not fire and then i get an exception as the Model (.Models.JobViewModel) is not passed to the view that the partialview (JobListings) lives in. basically what im saying is, if i have a myview.aspx with lots of html.RenderPartialView('apartialview') that have forms in them, can i get it so these forms post to their own actions and the main view (with what ever model it inherits) is handled as well. Rather then having all the form submitting code in the main action for the view. am i do this wrong?

  • Is this PHP/MySQL login script secure?

    - by NightMICU
    Greetings, A site I designed was compromised today, working on damage control at the moment. Two user accounts, including the primary administrator, were accessed without authorization. Please take a look at the log-in script that was in use, any insight on security holes would be appreciated. I am not sure if this was an SQL injection or possibly breach on a computer that had been used to access this area in the past. Thanks <?php //Start session session_start(); //Include DB config require_once('config.php'); //Error message array $errmsg_arr = array(); $errflag = false; //Connect to mysql server $link = mysql_connect(DB_HOST, DB_USER, DB_PASSWORD); if(!$link) { die('Failed to connect to server: ' . mysql_error()); } //Select database $db = mysql_select_db(DB_DATABASE); if(!$db) { die("Unable to select database"); } //Function to sanitize values received from the form. • developing maven plugin, how to exclude bitkeeper files

    - by Denali
    Hi There, I am trying to write my first maven plugin. I'd like to exclude all the java files related to the source repository I'm using, which is BitKeeper. These files live in directories called SCCS. I can't for the life of me figure out how to do this. When I add the maven-compile-plugin with excludes data, it works (the bk files are excluded) if I specify mvn compiler:compile. But this is not binding to the compile phase. So that when I run mvn compile, it blows up trying to compile a source control specific java file. Any help or pointers appreciated. Another thing to note: Everything works perfectly if I change the packaging from "maven-plugin" to "jar", which of course, I can't do permanently since this is a maven plugin I am trying to write. I'm sorry if this is answered elsewhere. I've looked around for several hours here and through the maven docs, but everything on this topic seems to be related to writing code which will be packaged in jars, not maven plugins. Here's my pom.xml: <project> <modelVersion>4.0.0</modelVersion> <groupId>com.mycomp.mygroup</groupId> <artifactId>special-persistence-plugin</artifactId> <packaging>maven-plugin</packaging> <version>1.0-SNAPSHOT</version> <name>Special Persistence Plugin</name> <dependencies> <dependency> <groupId>org.apache.maven</groupId> <artifactId>maven-plugin-api</artifactId> <version>2.0</version> </dependency> </dependencies> <build> <plugins> <plugin> <artifactId>maven-compiler-plugin</artifactId> <configuration> <source>1.6</source> <target>1.6</target> <encoding>UTF-8</encoding> <excludes> <exclude>**/SCCS/**/*.java</exclude> </excludes> <phase>compile</phase> <goals> <goal>compiler:compile</goal> </goals> </configuration> </plugin> </plugins> </build> </project> Thank you to anyone with ideas about this, -Denali

  • How to query with the datetime value using LINQ to XML ?

    - by Shailesh Jaiswal
    I am developing window phone 7 application in silverlight. I am new to the silverlight. I am also new to LINQ to XML. In my application the user select the date & submit some transaction details into the application. The details gets stored in XML File. I am using the custom date control in my application for the date selection as follows private void DatePicker_ValueChanged(object sender, DateTimeValueChangedEventArgs e) { AppObj = Application.Current as App; AppObj.date = (DateTime)EntryDate.Value; } Then the value of AppObj.date gets stored in the XML file. Sometimes I use the DateTime.Now to store the date in the XML File. Now I want to generate the report of submitted transaction details by querying through LINQ to XML. I want to generate the report for today's date, current week & current month. For this purpose I am using the following code public void GetTransactionObjects(String strXMLFile, DateTime VDateTime) { XDocument doc = null; XMLFileManager XMLDocObj = new XMLFileManager(); doc = XMLDocObj.LoadXMLFile(strXMLFile); var vTransaction = from s in doc.Descendants("Transaction") .Where(x => x.Element("Current_Date").Value == VDateTime.ToShortDateString()) select new Transaction(s); this.Clear(); AddRange(vTransaction); } The Transaction class contains the following constructor. public Transaction(XElement xElement) { Transaction_ID = Convert.ToInt32(xElement.Element("Transaction_ID").Value.ToString()); TransactionType_ID = Convert.ToInt32(xElement.Element("TransactionType_ID").Value.ToString()); Alphabet_ID = Convert.ToInt32(xElement.Element("Alphabet_ID").Value.ToString()); ID = Convert.ToInt32(xElement.Element("ID").Value.ToString()); SubCategory_ID = Convert.ToInt32(xElement.Element("SubCategory_ID").Value.ToString()); Item_ID = Convert.ToInt32(xElement.Element("Item_ID").Value.ToString()); Currency_ID = Convert.ToInt32(xElement.Element("Currency_ID").Value.ToString()); InputTypeMethod_ID = Convert.ToInt32(xElement.Element("InputTypeMethod_ID").Value.ToString()); Principle = Convert.ToInt32(xElement.Element("InputTypeMethod_ID").Value.ToString()); Interest = Convert.ToInt32(xElement.Element("Interest").Value.ToString()); ROI = Convert.ToInt32(xElement.Element("InputTypeMethod_ID").Value.ToString()); Amount = Convert.ToInt32(xElement.Element("InputTypeMethod_ID").Value.ToString()); Current_Date = Convert.ToDateTime(xElement.Element("Current_Date").Value.ToString()); } In the XML File the value gets stored for date & time. The value gets stored as follows 0 0 3 0 0 0 3 0 0 0 0 5000 2010-12-31T18:08:23.433+05:30 Look at the node <Current_Date>2010-12-31T18:08:23.433+05:30</Current_Date> The date format is yyyy-mm-dd. Now how should I write the following query to get all the submitted transaction details for today's date ? var vTransaction = from s in doc.Descendants("Transaction") .Where(x => x.Element("Current_Date").Value == VDateTime.ToShortDateString()) select new Transaction(s); Similarly how should I write the query to get all the transaction details for the current week & current month? Can you please provide me any code or link through which I can resolve the above issue ? If I am doing anything wrong then please guide me.

  • How to write specs with MSpec for code that changes Thread.CurrentPrincipal?

    - by Dan Jensen
    I've been converting some old specs to MSpec (were using NUnit/SpecUnit). The specs are for a view model, and the view model in question does some custom security checking. We have a helper method in our specs which will setup fake security credentials for the Thread.CurrentPrincipal. This worked fine in the old unit tests, but fails in MSpec. Specifically, I'm getting this exception: "System.Runtime.Serialization.SerializationException: Type is not resolved for member" It happens when part of the SUT tries to read the app config file. If I comment out the line which sets the CurrentPrincipal (or simply call it after the part that checks the config file), the error goes away, but the tests fail due to lack of credentials. Similarly, if I set the CurrentPrincipal to null, the error goes away, but again the tests fail because the credentials aren't set. I've googled this, and found some posts about making sure the custom principal is serializable when it crosses AppDomain boundaries (usually in reference to web apps). In our case, this is not a web app, and I'm not crossing any AppDomains. Our pincipal object is also serializable. I downloaded the source for MSpec, and found that the ConsoleRunner calls a class named AppDomainRunner. I haven't debugged into it, but it looks like it's running the specs in different app domains. So does anyone have any ideas on how I can overcome this? I really like MSpec, and would love to use it exclusively. But I need to be able to supply fake security credentials while running the tests. Thanks! Update: here's the spec class: [Subject(typeof(CountryPickerViewModel))] public class When_the_user_makes_a_selection : PickerViewModelSpecsBase { protected static CountryPickerViewModel picker; Establish context = () => { SetupFakeSecurityCredentials(); CreateFactoryStubs(); StubLookupServicer<ICountryLookupServicer>() .WithData(BuildActiveItems(new [] { "USA", "UK" })); picker = new CountryPickerViewModel(ViewFactory, ViewModelFactory, BusinessLogicFactory, CacheFactory); }; Because of = () => picker.SelectedItem = picker.Items[0]; Behaves_like<Picker_that_has_a_selected_item> a_picker_with_a_selection; } We have a number of these "picker" view models, all of which exhibit some common behavior. So I'm using the Behaviors feature of MSpec. This particular class is simulating the user selecting something from the (WPF) control which is bound to this VM. The SetupFakeSecurityCredentials() method is simply setting Thread.CurrentPrincipal to an instance of our custom principal, where the prinipal has been populated will full-access rights. Here's a fake CountryPickerViewModel which is enough to cause the error: public class CountryPickerViewModel { public CountryPickerViewModel(IViewFactory viewFactory, IViewModelFactory viewModelFactory, ICoreBusinessLogicFactory businessLogicFactory, ICacheFactory cacheFactory) { Items = new Collection<int>(); var validator = ValidationFactory.CreateValidator<object>(); } public int SelectedItem { get; set; } public Collection<int> Items { get; private set; } } It's the ValidationFactory call which blows up. ValidationFactory is an Enterprise Library object, which tries to access the config.

  • Javascript/ajax/php question: sending from server to client works, sending from client to server fai

    - by Jeroen Willemsen
    Hey All, Sorry for reposting(Admins, please delete the other one!). since you guys have been a great help, I was kinda hoping that you could help me once again while having the following question: I am currently trying to work with AJAX by allowing a managerclass in PHP to communicate via an XmlHttpobject with the javascript on the clientside. However, I can send something to the client via JSON, but I cannot read it at the clientside. In fact I am getting the error that the "time" is an undefined index in Session. So I was wondering: what am I doing wrong? The javascriptcode for Ajax: <script type="text/javascript"> var sendReq = GetXmlHttpObject(); var receiveReq = GetXmlHttpObject(); var JSONIn = 0; var JSONOut= 0; //var mTimer; //function to retreive xmlHTTp object for AJAX calls (correct) function GetXmlHttpObject() { var xmlHttp=null; try { // Firefox, Opera 8.0+, Safari xmlHttp=new XMLHttpRequest(); } catch (e) { // Internet Explorer try { xmlHttp=new ActiveXObject("Msxml2.XMLHTTP"); } catch (e) { xmlHttp=new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP"); } } return xmlHttp; } //Gets the new info from the server function getUpdate() { if (receiveReq.readyState == 4 || receiveReq.readyState == 0) { receiveReq.open("GET", "index.php?json="+JSONIn+"&sid=$this->session", true); receiveReq.onreadystatechange = updateState; receiveReq.send(null); } } //send a message to the server. function sendUpdate(JSONstringsend) { JSONOut=JSONstringsend; if (sendReq.readyState == 4 || sendReq.readyState == 0) { sendReq.open("POST", "index.php?json="+JSONstringsend+"&sid=$this->session", true); sendReq.setRequestHeader('Content-Type','application/x-www-form-urlencoded'); alert(JSONstringsend); sendReq.onreadystatechange = updateCycle; sendReq.send(JSONstringsend); } } //When data has been send, update the page. function updateCycle() { getUpdate(); } function updateState() { if (receiveReq.readyState == 4) { // JSONANSWER gets here (correct): var JSONtext = sendReq.responseText; // convert received string to JavaScript object (correct) alert(JSONtext); var JSONobject = JSON.parse(JSONtext); // updates date from the JSONanswer (correct): document.getElementById("dateview").innerHTML= JSONobject.date; } //mTimer = setTimeout('getUpdate();',2000); //Refresh our chat in 2 seconds } </script> The function that actually uses the ajax code: //datepickerdata $(document).ready(function(){ $("#datepicker").datepicker({ onSelect: function(dateText){ var JSONObject = {"date": dateText}; var JSONstring = JSON.stringify(JSONObject); sendUpdate(JSONstring); }, dateFormat: 'dd-mm-yy' }); }); </script> And the PHP code: private function handleReceivedJSon($json){ $this->jsonLocal=array(); $json=$_POST["json"]; $this->jsonDecoded= json_decode($json, true); if(isset($this->jsonDecoded["date"])){ $_SESSION["date"]=$this->jsonDecoded["date"]; $this->useddate=$this->jsonDecoded; } if(isset($this->jsonDecoded["logout"])){ session_destroy(); exit("logout"); } header("Last-Modified: " . gmdate( "D, d M Y H:i:s" ) . "GMT" ); header("Cache-Control: no-cache, must-revalidate" ); header("Pragma: no-cache" ); header("Content-Type: text/xml; charset=utf-8"); exit($json); }

  • Choosing a VS project type (C++)

    - by typoknig
    Hi all, I do not use C++ much (I try to stick to the easier stuff like Java and VB.NET), but the lately I have not had a choice. When I am picking a project type in VS for some C++ source I download, what project type should I pick? I had just been sticking with Win32 Console Applications, but I just downloaded some code (below) that will not work right even when it compiles with out errors. I have tried to use a CLR Console Application and an empty project too, and have changed many variables along the way, but I cannot get this code to work. I noticed that this code does not have "int main()" at its beginning, does that have something to do with it? Anyways, here is the code, got it from here: /* Demo of modified Lucas-Kanade optical flow algorithm. See the printf below */ #ifdef _CH_ #pragma package <opencv> #endif #ifndef _EiC #include "cv.h" #include "highgui.h" #include <stdio.h> #include <ctype.h> #endif #include <windows.h> #define FULL_IMAGE_AS_OUTPUT_FILE #define cvMirror cvFlip //IplImage *image = 0, *grey = 0, *prev_grey = 0, *pyramid = 0, *prev_pyramid = 0, *swap_temp;
