  • Logging a specific package in log4j programmatically

    Hi there, here is the thing, I have to deploy a web app and the the log4j.properties file is created by the client so I dont have control over it. Their properties file is like this: log4j.rootCategory= FILE !-----------FILE--------------! log4j.category.FILE=DEBUG log4j.appender.FILE=org.apache.log4j.RollingFileAppender log4j.appender.FILE.File=${catalina.base}/logs/rcweb.log log4j.appender.FILE.MaxFileSize=1024KB log4j.appender.FILE.MaxBackupIndex=10 log4j.appender.FILE.layout=org.apache.log4j.PatternLayout log4j.appender.FILE.layout.ConversionPattern=%-2d{dd/MM/yyyy HH:mm:ss} [%t] %5p %c:%L - %m%n And in my classes I do something like this: private static final Logger LOG = Logger.getLogger(MaterialController.class); LOG.info("my log"); But the log file has never been created. I did the test and changed the log4j.properties file and deployed in my computer adding the following line: log4j.logger.br.com.golive.requisicaoCompras=DEBUG This works, but I cant use the file like this.     From the javadoc for Session it states: A Session object is a single-threaded context for producing and consuming messages. So I understand that you shouldn't use a Session object from two different threads at the same time. What I'm unclear on is if you could use the Session object (or children such as a Queue) from a different thread than the one it created. In the case I'm working on, I'm considering putting my Session objects into a pool of available sessions that any thread could borrow from, use, and return to the pool when it is finished with it. Is this kosher? (Using ActiveMQ BTW, if that impacts the answer at all.)

  • Migration solution for singletons in an OSGI environment

    I'm working in a JEE Environment in which each application is in a war file of its own. In the WEB-INF/lib of each application war file there is a common jar that is shared by all applications. This common jar contains several Singletons which are accessed from many points in the code. Because of the war-file boundaries each application has its own instances of the Singletons. Which is how we operate today, since we want to configure some of the singletons differently in each application. Now we are moving towards an OSGi environment, where this solution will no longer work since each bundle has its own class loader, so if I try to access MySingleton which resides in bundle "common.jar" from bundle "appA.jar" or from bundle "appB.jar" I will get the same instance. Remember I "want" a different instance of a singleton per bundle. (as ironic as it sounds) Now I realize the ideal solution would be to fix the code to not rely on those singletons, however due to a tight schedule I was wondering if you guys can suggest some sort of a migration solution that would allow me to use bundle-wide singletons so each of them could be configured per bundle.

    This may be a long shot question.. I am working on an application that is based on JSP/Javascript only (without a Web framework!) Is there a way to have depencency injection for JSP beans? By jsp beans I mean beans defined like this <jsp:useBean id="cart" scope="session" class="session.Carts" /> Is there a way/library/hack to intercept the bean creation so that when "cart" is referenced for the first time, some some of injection takes place? Can I define somewhere a "listener" for JSP beans (like you can do for JSF beans for example)? I am free to do anything I want in the back-end, but I cannot add a web framework in the front-end (Don't ask!)

However, if I am not wrong, looks like in the example the mappedBy is actually specified on the owning side of the association, rather than the non-owning side.   • Redirecting to a Facelet is not working when extending FaceletViewHandler

    I'm overriding the handleRenderResponse method defined in com.sun.facelets.FaceletViewHandler: protected void handleRenderException(FacesContext context, Exception ex) I'm overriding this method so I can redirect the user to a custom error page (which contain the desired look and feel and other stuff). This is the way I'm trying to String errorPage = "/error.xhtml"; String contextPath = context.getExternalContext().getRequestContextPath(); String errorPagePath = contextPath+errorPage; context.getExternalContext().redirect(errorPagePath); The previous code is what I'm using to perform the redirect to this custom error page. Anyway, when I perform the redirect I'm prompted with a download dialog (this is with Internet Explorer, in Firefox the page does not display properly or as I would expect). I tried changing "/error.xhtml" to "/error.jsf" but in that case I get a 404 error. Somehow I think that the XHTML file is not being handled to the Facelets ViewHandler after the redirect, if I open the downloaded xhtml file I can see that the EL expressions were not resolved and the the ui tags were not handled. I don't have problems with other pages in my application, only when doing the redirect programatically. Important data from my web.xml: facelets.VIEW_MAPPINGS is set to *.xhtml javax.faces.DEFAULT_SUFFIX is set to .xhtml servlet-mapping for the "Faces Servlet" is ".jsf" and "/faces/"

    I have the url of an image. What i need to do is launch the default image viewer for images using an intent. I tried launching it by using: Uri uri = Uri.parse("http://www.google.com/intl/en_ALL/images/srpr/logo1w.png"); Intent it = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_VIEW); it.setDataAndType(uri, "image/*") startActivity(it); But it doesn't work. If I do not specify the type of data, the intent launches the browser since the data is a url. It works basically (since you can see the image on the browser) but what I would like is to have the gallery display the image for me. I can also download the image into a Bitmap but I would still not know how to display the Bitmap using the gallery (if that's even possible). Any ideas?

    I understand what an InterruptedException does and why it is thrown. However in my application I get it when waiting for SwingUtilities.invokeAndWait() on a thread that is only known by my application, and my application never class Thread.interrupt() on any thread, also it never passes the reference of the thread on to anyone. So my question is: Who interrupts my thread? Is there any way to tell? Is there a reason why the InterruptedException doesn't contain the name of the Thread that requests the interrupt? I read that it could be a framework or library that does this, we use the following, but I can't think of reason for them to interrupt my thread: Hibernate Spring Log4J Mysql connector

Why isn't the System.out.println (" ") ; creating a line break? Here is an example of what the output winds up being: Northwest Territory, Alberta, Kamchatka, hidavid-names-macbook-pro:~ davidname$ EDIT: the problem was that this method was never being invoked. A different one which i was replacing was. All is well.

    I am trying to build something "portlet server"-ish on the google app engine. (as open source) I'd like to use the JSR168/286 standards, but I think that the restrictions of the app engine will make it somewhere between tricky and impossible. Has anyone tried to run jetspeed or an application that uses pluto internally on the google app engine? Based on my current knowledge of portlets and the google app engine I'm anticipating these problems: A war file with portlets is from the deployment standpoint more or less a complete webapp (yes, I know that it doesn't really work without a portal server). The war file may contain it's own web.xml etc. This makes deployment on the app engine rather difficult, because the apps are not visible to each other, so all portlet containing archives need to be included in the war file of the deployed "app engine based portal server". The "portlets" are (at least in liferay) started as permanent servlet processes, based on their portlet.xmls and web.xmls which is located in the same spot for every portlet archive that is loaded. I think this may be problematic in the app engine, because everything is in one big "web app", so it may be tricky to access the portlet.xmls from each archive. This prevents a 100% compatibility in my opinion. Is here anyone who has any experience with the combination of portlets and the app engine? Do you think it's feasible to modify jetspeed, pluto or any other portlet container to be able to run it on the app engine?

I put some logger, I found that, the code is hanging with exporter.exportReport(); after this line code is not executing . Please suggest me for how to print from client side using jasper
