• How to create my own certificate chain?

  I would like to setup my own OCSP Responder (just for testing purposes). This requires me to have a root certificate and a few certificates generated from it. I've managed to create a self-signed certificate using openssl. I want to use it as the root certificate. The next step would be to create the derived certificates. I can't seem to find the documentation on how to do this however. Does anyone know where I can find this information?

• Change Management Software

  I manage an 80,000 user CIS application written in Uniface. Every form in the application, and many of its processes, are represented by .frm files. We have hundreds of these files and 5 instances of the application. Instances include multiple production installations which must be kept sync'd. We do not get MD5 from our vendor for files that are released to us as patches. We have been using a spreadsheet to track changes, but this is far from ideal. Is there a commercial application that can be purchased that will allow us to track changes to the instances? Thank you all! EDIT: Patches are released as zip files with either FRM files in them or SQL files or a mix of both. SQL files will contain statements that need to be run in Oracle. Patches are also assigned unique patch numbers.

• built in "Offer Remote Assistance" not working because of permissions

  I'm trying to enable permissions for a user on a Windows7 machine to use the built in feature called "Offer Remote Assistance" or "Windows Remote Assistance". This feature works fine if the user is added to the "domain admins" security group, but for security reasons, I cannot leave him in that group. This is within a SBS2003 Domain. I have added the user and also a group that he is apart of to the Small Business Server Remote Assistance Policy, after following some documentation I was able to find, but this has not worked. • Why BSNL 3G not opening some websites ? [closed]

  I am Sarang Dave from India. I am using BSNL 3G prepaid wireless broad band. When I have purchased it, it could open the website : http://stackoverflow.com But, now from last 2 months, I am unable to open this website. :( I have changed my DNS server to 8.8.8.8 & Alternate server to 8.8.4.4. This both are the free google dns servers. But, still facing the same problem. For reference : http://code.google.com/speed/public-dns/docs/using.html I am getting following error after loading : The server at stackoverflow.com is taking too long to respond.   I'm trying to implement dns service discovery in my application (no, I'm not asking for a programmatic answer). What I believe is one of my big pain points is generating the query. I know I need to send out a multicast broadcast on port 5353 and want to look for devices of type _ipp._tcp and _print._tcp, but I don't know what the question section needs to look like. For example, in SSDP I sent out a query that looks like the following: "M-SEARCH * HTTP/1.1\r\n" "HOST: 239.255.255.250:1900\r\n" + "MAN: \"ssdp:discover\"\r\n" "ST: urn:schemas-upnp-org:device:Printer:1\r\n" "MX: 5000\r\n\r\n" From what I know about a DNS query I need to send something like: "_ipp.tcp,all,all" but I know there needs to be more. Any pointers to documentation, etc would be greatly appreciated! update rfc1035 appears to contain promising information re the message structure.

• How to manage credentials on multiserver environment

  I have a some software that uses its own encrypted file for password storage ( such as ftp, web and other passwords to login to external systems, there is no way to use certificates ). On each server I've several instances of this software, each instance has its own password file. At the moment number of servers is permanently growing and it's getting harder and harder to manage all passwords on all instances up to date. Unfortunately, some servers are in cegregated network and there is no access from them to some centralized storage, but it works vice versa. My first idea was to create a git repository, encrypt each password with gpg and store it there and deliver it within deployment system, but security team was not satisfied with this idea and as it is insecure to store passwords in repository even in encrypted view ( from their words ). Nothing similar comes to my mind. Is there any way to implement safe and secure password storage with minimal effort to manage all passwords up-to-date? ps. if that matters I've red hat everywhere.

• MySQL dump, output each table row on a new line whilst using --extended-insert

  I'm having an issue, where for ease of use, I'd like to be able to format a command line MySQL dump so that each row of a given table is on a new line when using the --extended-insert option. Usually when using --extended-insert, every row of a given table is outputted on one line, and as far as I am aware there's no way to change this, other than post-processing the dump with perl or such like. The format I'm looking for is: -- -- Dumping data for table `ww_tbCountry` -- INSERT INTO `ww_tbCountry` (`iCountryId_PK`, `vCountryName`, `vShortName`, `iSortFlag`, `fTax`, `vCountryCode`, `vSageTaxCode`) VALUES (22, 'Albania', 'AL', 1, 0.00, '8', 'T9'), (33, 'Austria', 'AT', 1, 15.00, '40', 'T9'), (40, 'Belarus', 'BY', 1, 0.00, '112', 'T9'), (41, 'Belgium', 'BE', 1, 15.00, '56', 'T9'), (51, 'Bulgaria', 'BG', 1, 15.00, '100', 'T9' However, when I dump a database using Phpmyadmin, using --extended-insert, each row is dumped on a new line (as shown by the example above). • Aruba Wireless Controller 200 and AP70 manual

  I have an Aruba wireless system that is currently in use but there is no documentation from the previous person in charge. I have no manuals or login information for the wireless controllers and APs. I checked the Aruba website and you need to register to access the support information but registration isn't instant and takes several days. I've waited for quite a while now and have tried googling and checking the Aruba forums but have found no indication of a manual. What I really need is the ability to reset the controller and APs so I can access the device with the default username and password. There is no reset button on this device so I have no idea how you go about resetting the controller and APs. Hm it seems I can't create a new tag as a new user. If possible can someone add an "Aruba" tag?

• Using Subversion with SQL Server Management Studio

  I am a member of a team with 3 developers. We have started using Redmine here for project management and issue tracking and LOVE it. I have seen elsewhere how nicely Redmine can work when a back-end repository is set up for a project. There is nice integration all around. This shop is currently .Net and SQL Server 2005. I am thinking about recommending a move to Subversion for our VCS (so that we can integrate with Redmine). I have seen a product called VisualSVN which will make it possible to use Visual Studio with Subversion, so that covers .Net. But the other big question is if it is possible to configure SQL Server Management Studio to somehow use Subversion for its VCS. Has anyone done this? This shop is currently using Sourcegear Fortress.

• How to get top command output to show rake arguments?

  In the past, all of our servers have automatically shown command arguments passed to rake when we view them in top. For example: But on this particular server, we get this instead (picture is top running, showing the rake command, but not showing any of the arguments that had been passed to rake): Both servers are running Ubuntu (though the server without rake commands is a newer flavor of ubuntu). Both run rake through ruby enterprise edition (as powered by rvm). Can't seem to find any documentation on how top chooses what to show in the "command" column, other than the obvious "more data/less data" toggle (all screenshots are shown with the extra data enabled. Anyone encountered anything similar to this?

• I am unable to find login page for phpmyadmin

  I was using phpmyadmin(in Wamp) without a password for root. I thought to set a password for root and goto Privileges page and set a password for root. Now whenever I go to localhost/phpmyadmin page it gives me the following error. MySQL said: Documentation #1045 - Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: NO) phpMyAdmin tried to connect to the MySQL server, and the server rejected the connection. You should check the host, username and password in your configuration and make sure that they correspond to the information given by the administrator of the MySQL server. I don't know that what is the problem. It is not showing me a login type page to enter a username and password. Any idea that what is the problem ? Thanks

• CLI way of uninstalling a Windows update?

  Basically, what can be achieved by going to Control Panel Uninstall a Program View Installed Updates Right Click Uninstall, but through the command line? Looking for a way that works across the Windows platform but if (and according to my reading, most likely) it's version dependent so be it. Maybe something like: C:\command /uninstall "Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2705219)" Looks like using the KB would be great but wusa.exe works for the above example update but not for say "Security Update for Silverlight (KBXXXXXXXX)". Not much consistency. I'm really surprised there isn't much documentation on this. How does an app like WUInstall do it? Follow up question is how is that list of "View Installed Updates" populated? I've searched the registry like crazy hoping for an "UninstallString" or equivalent but only found references to the regular Add/Remove Programs list. Thought I would reference a StackOverflow question for another perspective.

• Git version control with multiple users

  Hello, i am a little bit lost with this issue, let me explain you my problem: I want to setup a git repository, three of four users will contribute, so they need to download the code and shall be able to upload their changes to the server or update their branch with the latest modifications. So, i setup a linux machine, install git, setup the repository, then add the users in order to enable the acces throught ssh. Now my question is, What's next?, the git documentation is a little bit confusing, i.e. when i try from a dummy user account to clone the repository i got: xxx@xxx-desktop:~/Documentos/git/test$ git clone -v ssh://[email protected]/pub.git Initialized empty Git repository in /home/xxx/Documentos/git/test/pub/.git/ [email protected]'s password: fatal: '/pub.git' does not appear to be a git repository fatal: The remote end hung up unexpectedly is that a problem of privileges? need any special configuration? i want to avoid using git-daemon or gitosis, sorry, maybe my question sound silly but git is powerfull but i admit not so user friendly.   What does mean the plus sign before */dyn in the :version command's output, e.g.: +python/dyn +python3/dyn +ruby/dyn +tcl/dyn I didn't find any useful documentation on it. When I run :echo has('python3') Vim returns 0. When I run :python3 print('hi') it says E370: Could not load library python31.dll meaning I should install python (as I understand). So I just can't see the difference between -*/dyn and +*/dyn. What does plus sign give to us? Also what's the difference from dyn-less feature, e.g. +python?

• Nginx user subdomains, should I proxy_pass?

  I am trying to setup user subdomains, serving content from specific folders: www.example.com/username served from username.example.com (just like github pages). I've looked at Nginx rewrites, but I don't want the browser to redirect--I want the domain to be username.example.com. Anyway, a comment on this question says that I cannot rewrite host, only proxy to it. I tried to setup a proxy_pass, but all of the documentation and examples show it being used to (obviously) proxy to a service on another host or port, but in my case I want to just proxy to another location on the same host and port. Is this the appropriate way to tackle this problem, and if so, what is the right Nginx config syntax?

• Messages released from MailScanner quarantine are marked as DUPLICATEDELIVER in Exchange 2007

  I have installed Postfix with MailScanner on CentOS 5.4 as a smarthost for Exchange 2007. When a message gets quarantined and I later release it (http://wiki.mailscanner.info/doku.php?id=documentation%3Aconfiguration%3Amta%3Apostfix%3Ahow%5Fto%3Arelease%5Fquarantined%5Fmail), it gets delivered to the Exhcange box but does not appear in a user's mailbox. Exchange message tracking log shows the message is marked as DUPLICATEDELIVER and therefore dropped. How can I work around this situation? Maybe changing a message ID somehow while at the Postfix box or some other way? Thanks.

  Is there any way to create a desired topology of EC2 instances? For example, can I create a 3 node topology of nodes A, B, C where C gets the public IP address and B and A are connected to it. Something like: Internet <-- C <-- B <-- A B and A only get private IP addresses and there is no way for the traffic to reach A before hitting B and C. This means I can install whatever I want to install on C and B to filter, cache etc. I'm going through EC2 documentation but so far I have not seen anything that talks about it. I will really appreciate if anyone knows how to do this on EC2

• Squid 3 reloading makes it stop serving requests

  So, we use Squid 3 here (3.0.STABLE8-3+lenny4), pretty standard configuration (no dansguardian or similar) + NTLM authentication with LDAP background, circa 1000 users on a busy day, and our acls reference some external files (allowed/blocked sites/ip addresses). On Squid 2.X we used to be capable of reloading it's configuration (to add or sites or addresses to rules, etc) and squid would not stop serving during the reload. Since we changed to 3.0, that seems to be impossible: everytime we use reload (or -k reconfigure) it stop serving requests for as long as 2 minutes, and clients receive a Configured proxy is not accepting connections message. I checked the documentation and got nothing about it, does anyone else suffer from this problem or is it a isolated case on my setup? Also, if you have Squid 3.0 and doesn't suffer from this problem, how is your squid configured?

• OSSEC agent behind NAT

  I am working on an OSSEC deployment where I will have multiple agents behind 1 public IP. Below is an example of the setup Private Network OSSEC-Agent1 (192.168.1.10) OSSEC-Agent2 (192.168.50.33) OSSEC-Agent3 (10.10.10.1) Those IPs NAT to 1 public IP (1.1.1.1) Then 1.1.1.1 talks to the public OSSEC server on 2.2.2.2 I've read some OSSEC documentation talking about NAT here, but it doesn't tell me exactly what I need to know. Their example is using an entire /24 subnet and mine will mainly have multiple agents to only 1 public IP. With the setup so far, I brought Agent1 online fine and it is communicating to the OSSEC server. However Agent2 continues to fail trying to connect to 2.2.2.2. Even though when I added the key, I had the correct name for it, so I know it talked to the portal at least once for that information. I'm assuming it's just getting confused with the multiple keys to 1 public IP. I basically want to know if this is possible and/or if I'm just overlooking something simple. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

• Run a MongoDB configuration server without 3GB of journal files

  For a production sharded MongoDB installation we need 3 configuration servers. According to the documentation "the config server mongod process is fairly lightweight and can be ran on machines performing other work". However, in the default configuration, they all have journalling enabled, and with preallocation this takes up 3 GB of disk space. I assume that the actual data and transaction volume of a config server is quite small, so that this seems a bit too much. Is there a way to (safely!) run these config servers with much less disk use for the journal? Do I need journalling at all on config servers? Can I set the journal size to be smaller?

  for a project there will be me and one more programmer to develop a web service. i wonder how the development environment should be like. cause we need central storage (documents, pictures, business materials etc), file version handling, lamp (testing the web service) etc. i have never set up an environment for this before and want to have suggestions from experienced people which tools to use for effective collaboration. what crossed my mind: seperate applications: - google wave (for communication forth and back, setting up guide lines, other information) - team viewer (desktop sharing) - skype (calling) vps (ubuntu server): - svn (version tracking) - ftp (central storage) - lamp (testing the web service) - ssh (managing the vps) is this an appropriate programming environment? and regarding the vps, is it best practice to use ONE vps for all tasks listed up there? all suggestions and feedbacks are welcome!

  Nuget feed by team city is working perfectly but there is a strange problem. Using the same credentials, no matter what we try we get 401. The server VPN ip is whitelisted in internet explorer intranet settings. Any ideas? Basically HTTP authentication is failing for the VPN although it shouldn't, since the browser works fine!

• Multiple Schedule/Task Views (devs, customer, etc) in MS Project (or other)

  Is there a way to configure multiple views/filters in MS Project for the same set of tasks? I want to have a view that is configured for customer's only, for example. So, it would have large milestone tasks only, and hide all of the details that are there for the benefit of the team members. If MS Project doesn't do this, is there any project management software that does? A free/open source version would be preferable. Edit: Apparently, "filter" was the word I needed in my Google searches. I found how to mark a task as a Milestone and use the pre-made Milestone filter. However, that still doesn't hide non-Milestone tasks the way I want it to. I haven't figured out how to make a true custom filter.
