    Hi. I want to render this data structure as an unordered list. menu = [ [1, 0], [2, 1], [3, 1], [4, 3], [5, 3], [6, 5], [7,1] ] [n][0] is the key [n][1] references the parent key The desired output is: <ul> <li>Node 1</li> <ul> <li>Node 2</li> <li>Node 3</li> <ul> <li>Node 4</li> <li>Node 5</li> <ul> <li>Node 6</li> </ul> </ul> <li>Node 7</li> </ul> </ul> I could probably do this without recursion but that would be no fun. Unfortunately, I am having problems putting it all together. I don't have much experience with recursion and this is proving to be very difficult for me to build and debug. What is the most efficient way to solve this problem in Python? Thanks!

    Hello, I have the following: Class 1 (Text, State, Level) Class 2 (Text, State, Level, Ident) Is there a way for me to cast an object of Class 2 into into Class 1, and not having to do the usual cast code (Text = c.Text, State = c.State etc.)? Possibly by identifying the property names of each class and copying the value over?

  • How to make "int" parse blank strings?

    I have a parsing system for fixed-length text records based on a layout table: parse_table = [\ ('name', type, length), .... ('numeric_field', int, 10), # int example ('textc_field', str, 100), # string example ... ] The idea is that given a table for a message type, I just go through the string, and reconstruct a dictionary out of it, according to entries in the table. Now, I can handle strings and proper integers, but int() will not parse all-spaces fields (for a good reason, of course). I wanted to handle it by defining a subclass of int that handles blank strings. This way I could go and change the type of appropriate table entries without introducing additional kludges in the parsing code (like filters), and it would "just work". But I can't figure out how to override the constructor of a build-in type in a sub-type, as defining constructor in the subclass does not seem to help. I feel I'm missing something fundamental here about how Python built-in types work. How should I approach this? I'm also open to alternatives that don't add too much complexity.

  • Reference table values in a war against magic numbers

    This question bugged me for years now and can't seem to find good solution still. I working in PHP and Java but it sounds like this maybe language-agnostic :) Say we have a standard status reference table that holds status ids for some kind of entity. Further let's assume the table will have just 5 values, and will remain like this for a long time, maybe edited occasionally with addition of a new status. When you fetch a row and need to see what status it is you have 2 options(as I see it at least) - put it straight ID values(magic numbers that is) or use a named constant. Latter seem much cleaner, the question though is where those named constants should leave? In a model class? In a class that uses this particular constant? Somewhere else?

    My application have a configuration xml-file. That file contains more than 50 program settings. At the present time I read and save each program setting separately. I guess It is not effi?iently for such tasks. I need something that can auto-generate a code for load and save my program settings using predefined xml-schema. I found a dataset in Add New Item dialog. Unfortunately, i cannot add new code to dataset1 such as events in set-accessors of properties because of this // Changes to this file may cause incorrect behavior and will be lost if // the code is regenerated. Maybe, there is a tool that allows a user to generate a wrapper for accesing a xml-file ? Such as DataSet1, but with availability to add events.

  • Java technologies for web-development.

    Hello. I'm PHP-programmer, but I'm extremely interested in learning Java. So I decided to change speciality from PHP to Java. At the moment I have an opportunity to try to make quite simple web-application (it should contain 2-3 forms, several pages with information from the database and authorization module) and also I have a chance to choose any technology I want. Besides I have about 3 months for this task. I've decided to develop site with Java technologies for the purpose of studying. I've already read a book about Java ("Java2 Complete Reference" by P.Naughton) and currently I'm reading "Thinking in Java" by B.Eckel. I clearly understand it's not enough for efficient development, but I want, at least, to try. I would be very appreciated for the advises, which framework (for example) or technology to choose (Spring, Grails etc.) and what primary aspects and technologies of Java should I pay attention to?   • Is it so bad to have heaps of elements in your DOM?

    I am making a real estate non interactive display for their shop window. I have kicked jCarousel into doing what I want: Add panels per AJAX Towards the end of the current set, go and AJAX some new panels and insert them This works fine, but it appears calling jQuery's remove() on the prior elements cause an ugly bump. I'm not sure if calling hide() will free up any resources, as the element will still exist (and the element will be off screen anyway). I've seen this, and tried carousel.reset() from within a callback. It just clears out all the elements. This will be running on Google Chrome on Windows XP, and will solely by displaying on LCD televisions. I am wondering, if I can't find a reasonable solution to remove the extra DOM elements, will it bring my application to a crawl, or will Chrome do some clever garbage collecting? Or, how would you solve this problem? Thanks

I can choose "show all files" on the speedbar mode, but then every .cs file shows up with a '[?]' next to the name. How do I properly configure speedbar so it shows up with .cs files by default? How do I get the '[+]' next to each file so I can navigate inside the file?

  • Javascript code plagiarism checker

    I was wondering if there was any tool available that detects code plagiarism and works well with Javascript. I want to test assignment submissions for homework I'm going to hand out. The only tool that I know of that can do this is MOSS, but, from what I've heard, it's pretty poor for anything else than C. Unfortunately, I can't test it yet because I don't have submissions :).

    Wordpress wraps images with captions in a div with a class of .wp-caption. I'm looking for a way to select images that don't have this div so I can wrap them in different div.     I have the following TVF for fulltext search: FUNCTION [dbo].[Fishes_FullTextSearch] (@searchtext nvarchar(4000), @limitcount int) RETURNS TABLE AS RETURN SELECT * FROM Fishes INNER JOIN CONTAINSTABLE(Fishes, *, @searchtext, @limitcount) AS KEY_TBL ON Fishes.Id = KEY_TBL.[KEY] When I'm using this TVF, it doesn't return a collection of objects of type Fish (which I want!) - instead LINQ creates a new result type which includes all "Fish" fields and the fields Key and Rank. In another question, it was suggested that I rewrite this TVF into a stored procedure for it to return Fish objects only. Can someone help me do this please? Also, it needs to be ordered by Rank. Thank you!
