• Google Apps for Mail - MX entry related doubt

  I have signed up for google apps recently for my organisation. The google apps guide says that I need to edit the MX entry for my domain so that the mails get redirected to the google mail servers instead of my default mail server. But, I am having a doubt whether to edit the MX entry on my domain name provider or the hosting server. My domain name provider is godaddy.com and my server is ServInt. And, moreover, what difference does it make if I edit the MX entries on my hosting provider or my domain name provider. Thanks, niting

  Hello I do not have internet connection at my home. So i use "apt-get --print-uris" to list the http's and take it to other PC with internet connection and use wget to download them. I am facing difficulty about how to list the http's that amarok will download from for the extra functionality (like mp3 codecs). KDE deamon is showing me that these packages are needed for extra functionality of amarok but i don't know how to list their http's. "apt-get --print-uris upgrade" does not list http's need for amarok/reqonk.

  Hello, Happy to start contributing to this blog..  The title of the blog is probably deceptively simple and warrants an elaboration. Customized BPM workspaces/user interfaces are a fairly common requirement. One of our marquee customers in the online stock trading business, envisioned this user interaction for their BPM application: User logs in to the internal portal Use will have list of roles which he is granted as a drop down list Once user selects the role, a list of processes which user is part of appear. Logged in user can be part of any swimlane role of the process This can be a fairly common/reasonable user-UI interaction pattern. 1. and 2. are easily achievable and hence the subject matter of this blog is the requirement in 3. Objective: Given a username and a role, list all the BPM processes that the user is part of, in any swimlane of any process. Here is quick overview of the major steps/logic in the code: Intialize workflow/BPM  context as usual Get a handle on InstanceQueryService(getInstanceQueryService), InstanceManagementService,        ProcessMetadataService and ProcessModelService List all Processes for that bpmcontext (listProcessMetadataSumary) and get Granted roles to that user For each of the processes [method  getAccessibleProcesss(ProcessMetadataSummary, Set)]for each of the lanes in the process, check if the role granted to the user, matches the roleName for that swimlane. If so, add to output. Notes: The usual caveats apply including BPM APIs are subject to change.  JDeveloper method introspection is your better friend than API documentation :-)...   After apt-get upgrade this morning, my Ubuntu 12.04 web server does no longer resolve a domain name hosted on it. I also received the error message: "resolvconf: Error: /etc/resolv.conf isn't a symlink, not doing anything." I found this question Network Manager not populating resolv.conf but the solutions provided there did not resolve the problem. Creating the symlink in fact caused websites to load very slowly, so I assume there is some sort of (reverse?) DNS lookup not working, when I create the symlink.

  General This may sound like a typical noob statement, but I’m finding out in a very real way that just because you have a solution to a problem, doesn’t necessarily mean it is the best solution. This was reiterated to me when a friend of mine suggested I look at using Dictionaries instead of Lists for a particular problem – he was right, I have always just assumed that because lists solved my problem I did not need to look elsewhere. So my new manifesto to counter this ageless problem is as follows… Look for a solution that will logically work Once you have a solution look for possible alternatives Decide why your current solution is the best approach compared to the alternatives If it is.. use it till something better comes along, if it isnt…. change What’s the difference between Lists & Dictionaries Both lists and dictionaries are used to store collections of data. Assume we had the following declarations… var dic = new Dictionary<string, long>(); var lst = new List<long>(); long data;   With a list, you simply add the item to the list and it will add the item to the end of the list. lst.Add(data); With a dictionary, you need to specify some sort of key and the data you want to add so that it can be uniquely identified. dic.Add(uniquekey, data);   Because with a dictionary you now have unique identifier, in the background they provide all sort’s of optimized algorithms to find your associated data. What this means is that if you are wanting to access your data it is a lot faster than a List. So when is it appropriate to use either class? For me, if I can guarantee that each item in my collection will have a unique identifier, then I will use Dictionaries instead of Lists as there is a considerable performance benefit when accessing each data item. If I cannot make this sort of guarantee, then by default I will use a list. I know this is all really basic, and I hope I haven’t missed some fundamental principle… If anyone would like to add their 2 cents, please feel free to do so…

  We have Exchange Server 2007 using our domain ddd.com. We created an isolated network with a firewall/gateway and installed a DC and Exchange Server 2010 using a demo/test domain (ddd.loc). We opened all the needed ports in the firewall (10.10.2.88) to the Exchange Server 2010. In our main Domain Controller (10.10.2.3) we defined the domain ddd.loc with IP 10.10.2.88 (firewalls). We also we defined MX records to the same IP (10.10.2.88) We did that so when we send email from my email [email protected] it will go to the Exchange Server 2010. Anyways, all the pings test from to any servers are OK. But we are not able to send or receive emails. Between these Exchange Servers we can not send any email from the 2010 to any email in general (emails are pending). Also, in Exchange 2007 we are getting error #550 5.1.1 RESOLVER.ADR.RecipNotFound; not found ##

• Can I create a DC without a DNS Server?

  So as the title says, I need to promote a standalone Win2008R2 server to a Domain Controller, and I don't a DNS Server (I think), as there will be no clients connected to the domain, it will be only used for Remote Desktop Services. Yes, I know, it's considered bad practice to install other roles on the DC, but in this case, it's necessary. Do I need to install the DNS Server, and if I do, how to make it as transparent as possible? EDIT: Seems that I need to install the DNS Server, so I can I configure it not to mess up my entire domain? For example: The server I need to promote is rdc.mydomain.com, and it has an A entry to it's IP in the current DNS, while other servers under mydomain.com are running Linux and don't need to know anything about this Windows box. The domain uses a third-party DNS and all edits and updates need to be done via a separate web page, our servers don't have write/update access.

  Within a DDD and CQRS context, a query result is displayed as table rows. Whenever new rows are inserted or deleted, their positions must be calculated by comparing the previous query result with the most recent one. This is needed to visualize with an animation new or deleted rows. The model of my view contains an array of the displayed query results. But I need a place to compare its contents against the latest query. Right now I consider my model view part of my application layer, but the comparison of two query result sets seems something that must be done within the domain layer. Which component should cache a query result and which one compare them? Are view models (and their cached contents) supposed to be in the application layer?

How should it be sorted - alphabetically or by timezone offset? What information should each item contain - offset, location, long name (like Europe/Zurich) or short name (like CET)? Should I display information about DST or only current offset? Let's say I can't right now do something like fancy maps OS configuration dialogs display, so the list is the only option. However I want to make the list look nice. Any best practices how it's done?

  I am new to this. Here is the situation and wondering if someone can suggest best solution to it. I have domain "www.mydomain.com" where I have magento website running, we are in development stage so I did URL forwarding "www.mydomain.com" to "www.mydomain.net" and we have under-construction page on "www.mydomain.net'. Because we do not want to show development. I also have subdomain "beta.mydomain.com" which I pointed to "www.mydomain.com/index.php" which works fine. But how can I show this without changing URL in browser from "beta.mydomain.com" to "www.mydomain.com/index.php" this we want to show our development to management.

• What is the best method to determine an account through DNS A record configuration?

  I apologize if my description of the problem is unclear. I am working for an online CMS that allows external domains to be used similar to Tumblr or Flavors.me. I noticed both of these services simply require you to add an A record to your domain's DNS. When trying this, I added an A record for a blank name and "www" both leading to my webserver's IP. While this successfully routes to my server, it doesn't retain the used domain. This leaves me without any idea of what account they're attempting to reach at the application layer. I'm using nginx as my webserver. I have changed all the nameservers for a domain before, and that works properly, however that causes complications with other issues such as mail and isn't feasible on a scaled solution. What should I be doing here? Is the A record the correct method of accomplishing this? How are sites like Tumblr and Flavors.me determining which account is being referenced by the domain?
