  • Row selection based on subtable data in MySQL

    I've been struggling with this selection for a while now, I've been searching around StackOverflow and tried a bunch of stuff but nothing that helps me with my particular issue. Maybe I'm just missing something obvious. I have two tables: Measurements, MeasurementFlags "Measurements" contain measurements from a device, and each measurement can have properties/attributes attached to them (commonly known as "flags") to signify that the measurement in question is special in some way or another (for instance, one flag may signify a test or calibration measurement). Note: One record per flag! Right, so a record from the "Measurements" table can theoreticly have an unlimited amount of MeasurementFlags attached to it, or it can have none. Now, I need to select records from "Measurements", that have an attached "MeasurementFlag" valued "X", but it must also NOT have a flag valued "Y" attached to it. We're talking about a fairly large database with hundreds of millions of rows, which is why I'm trying to keep all of this logic within one query. Splitting it up would create too many queries, however if it's not possible to do in one query I guess I don't have a choise. Thanks in advance.

I want to remove the hyperlinks, but only specific ones. e.g. I start with this: This is text <a href="link/to/somewhere">Link to Remove</a> and more text with another link <a href="/link/to/somewhere/else">Keep this link</a> I want to have: This is text and more text with another link <a href="/link/to/somewhere/else">Keep this link</a> I have this RegEx expression, <a\s[^>]*>.*?</a> ... but it matches ALL of the links. What do I need to add to that expression to match only the links with the link-text 'Remove' (for example) in it? thanks in advance.

What is more flexible and "right" to work with one huge DataTable in Cache with whole data from all users and then loop thought DataTable to find certain user data or to cache each user ie. cacheObj + userID... User can filter his own results by dates and types which is why i need flexible and reliable solution thanks...

    I have a gridview with edit option at the start of the row. Also I maintain a seperate table called Permission where I maintain user permissions. I have three different types of permissions like Admin, Leads, Programmers. These all three will have access to the gridview. Except admin if anyone tries to edit the gridview on clicking the edit option, I need to give an alert like This row has important validation and make sure you make proper changes. When I edit, the action with happen on table called Application. The table has a column called Comments. Also the alert should happen only when they try to edit rows where the Comments column have these values in them.     I've been trying to create a Compound Control in Android 1.5 (as described here) but havn't been able to find any good examples on how to do this using an XML file to specify a layout. I'm fine with creating an Activity and then loading an xml file using the following in the constructor: setContentView(R.layout.main); However, I want to do this in subclass of LinearLayout - so I can use this compound component in other XML layouts.     The Compare method in Linq lets you find by an IEqualityComparer, but I can't find a counterpart method that allows you retrieve an item by the same comparer. Is this really the best way to do it?   • Joining Tables Based on Foreign Keys

    I have a table that has a lot of fields that are foreign keys referencing a related table. I am writing a script in PHP that will do the db queries. When I query this table for its data I need to know the values associated with these keys not the key. How do most people go about this? A 101 way to do this would be to query this table for its data including the foreign keys and then query the related tables to get each key's value. This could be a lot of queries (~10). Question 1: I think I could write 1 query with a bunch of joins. Would that be better? This approach also requires the querying script to know which table fields are foreign keys. Since I have many tables like this but all with different fields, this means writing nice generic functions is hard. MySQL InnoDB tables allow for foreign constraints. I know the database has these set up correctly. Question 2: What about the idea of querying the table and identifying what the constraints are and then matching them up using whatever process I decide on from Question 1. I like this idea but never see it being used in code. Makes me think its not a good idea for some reason. I would use something like SHOW CREATE TABLE tbl_name; to find what constraints/relationships exist for that table. Thank you for any suggestions or advice.

    I need start off with code because I am not sure what terminology to use. What are some other approaches one can take to avoid code such as this?     Hi, I would like to be able to send a string of emails at a determined interval to different recipients. I assign to each Contact this series of Emails called a Campaign, where Campaign has Email1, Email2, etc. Each Contact has a Contact.start_date. Each Email has email.days which stores the number of days since a Contact's start-date to send the email. For example: Email1.days=5, Email2.days=7, Email3.days=11. Contact1.start_date = 4/10/2010; contact2.start_date = 4/08/2010 IF today is 4/15, then Contact1 receives Email 1 (4/15-4/10 = 5 days) IF today is 4/15, then Contact2 received Email 2 (4/15 - 4/8 = 7 days). What's a good action to run every day using a cron job that would then follow these rules to send out emails using ActionMailer? Thanks.

I don't want this. I want the textfields to be a certain size, and the text area to be a certain size. I've put stuff in there to set the size of them but they aren't working. How do I go about actually setting a strict size for either the components or the JPanel.

    I have a few webcombo boxes that are hierachial: Continent Country When the form loads everything works fine, when I change the continent the first time, the country repopulates correctly. However if I change the continent a second time I receive an error: Specified argument was out of the range of valid values.Parameter name: The DataValueField of ValueField was not found in the Columns collection.   • Firefox 17 and CSS borders based triangles = crap

    Like many front-end devs, I've been using the border trick to render triangles in CSS. http://apps.eky.hk/css-triangle-generator/ this generator helps with the technique. Today, like every week (almost), the Firefox team released a new version without any clear changelog on the rendering engine. Now we can see an ungraceful gray border around those triangles. I haven't found a trick to get rid of it yet. On top of that, before Firefox 17, when people were complaining about how aliased those triangles looked, an additional trick was to set the border-style property to "dashed" instead of solid. Using firebug on the triangle generator, you can quickly see how it shows up now, and cry yourself to death. I hope a more brillant front-end dev than myself will find a fix for this and share it here. Thanks

    Imagine the UI passes back an XMl node as such: <properties> <type> Source </type> <name> Blooper </name> <delay> <type> Deterministic </type> <parameters> <param> 4 </param> </parameters> <delay> <batch> <type> Erlang </type> <parameters> <param> 4 </param> <param> 6 </param> </parameters> <batch> And behind the scene what it is asking that you instantiate a class as such: new Source("blooper", new Exp(4), new Erlang(4,6); The problem lies in the fact that you don't know what class you will need to processing, and you will be sent a list of these class definitions with instructions on how they can be linked to each other. I've heard that using a BeanFactoryPostProcessor might be helpful, or a property editor/convertor. However I am at a loss as to how best to use them to solve my problem. Any help you can provide will be much appreciated.
