• Needing to copy properties before validation

  I have a farily complex model needing to be validated, the problem is that this model is used on two different places, one where you register your customer and one where you simply add addresses. Some fields on the address are simply not visible on the register customer form. So when i check if ModelState.IsValid i get false of course since eg. the name is not entered on the billing address, but it is on the customer. That is why i want to before validation occurs, copy a couple of fields to the model, and then validate. I am somewhat lost though and i need help. My action looks something like this: public ActionResult Register(WebCustomer customer) { customer.CopyProperties(); if(TryUpdateModel(customer)) { ... } ... But it always returns false, and ModelState.IsValid continues to be false.

• jQuery fading in an element - not working exactly as i want it to...

  Anybody see what's wrong? Doesn't seem to do anything. If i replace $(this, '.inner').stop(true, false).fadeIn(250); with $(.fadeInOnHover .inner').stop(true, false).fadeIn(250); then all the .inner elements on the page will fade in (which isn't really what i want, as i have ~10 of them). I know it's possible to achieve what i want to do, but i don't know how in this case.   Profiling of some code showed that about 65% of the time I was inside the following code. What it does is use the Data.Binary.Get monad to walk through a bytestring looking for the terminator. If it detects 0xff, it checks if the next byte is 0x00. If it is, it drops the 0x00 and continues. If it is not 0x00, then it drops both bytes and the resulting list of bytes is converted to a bytestring and returned. Any obvious ways to optimize this? • Parsing boolean from configuration section in web.config

  I have a custom configuration section in my web.config. One of my classes is grabbing from this: <myConfigSection LabelVisible="" TitleVisible="true"/> I have things working for parsing if I have true or false, however if the attribute is blank I am getting errors. When the config section tries to map the class to the configuration section I get an error of "not a valid value for bool" on the 'LabelVisible' part. How can I parse "" as false in my myConfigSection class? I have tried this: [ConfigurationProperty("labelsVisible", DefaultValue = true, IsRequired = false)] public bool? LabelsVisible { get { return (bool?)this["labelsVisible"]; } But when I try and use what is returned like so: graph.Label.Visible = myConfigSection.LabelsVisible; I get an error of: 'Cannot implicitly convert type 'bool?' to 'bool'. • jQuery Cluetip not activated until after hover or click event

  I'm not sure what is causing this, but I am using cluetip and binding it to a live event (either click or mouseenter), but in each situation the cluetip isn't firing until after one click or hover event. I am using the live event for ajax loaded content, but I'm also having this issue with non-Ajax loaded content. I'm not sure why this is happening - can anyone see where I might be going wrong? Everything works perfect, but i'm not able to retrieve the array of tags that I added.   I checked the relevant thread but still can't solve this problem. • C#: Check if administrator has write access to a file

  The Problem: I need to check if a user (local user or domain user, either one is possible) has write access to a file (if you're curious, %windir%\system32\inetsrv\applicationHost.config. This file is protected by Windows and you need to be an administrator to write to it.) My Solution: The general construct is: using (Impersonator impersonator = new Impersonator(domain, username, password)) { try { using (FileStream fs = File.OpenWrite(appHostConfigPath)) { return true; } catch { return false; } } As you can imagine, the Impersonator class is an IDisposible which uses native interop to call LogonUser. Nothing too creative, and it works. Where I am stuck: On Windows OSs with UAC enabled, this function always return false even if the user specified by username is an administrator. Even though my program is running elevated as an administrator, I suspect what's happening is that the impersonated code is running as a limited administrator. Hence, the method is returning false. I don't have any creative solutions to this. Can anyone help?
