• Stop jQuery animation prematurely

  Hi, I'm trying to fadeIn and fadeOut a transparent png using JQuery. Of course, it looks slick in Firefox, but significantly less than acceptable in IE (7 and 8). It's a known bug with IE, and unfortunately there doesn't seem to be much of a workaround. Basically what I'm doing is place a semi-transparent white rectangle over an image to make the image appear 'in the background'. I want to do this smoothly, and that's where fadeIn comes in. Because of the IE bug, however, I've been forced to fadeIn a completely opaque white rectangle over the image instead, making it unfortunately disappear. While this looks significantly better and is ALMOST what I'm looking for, it's still not acceptable. The user needs to be able to see SOME image on the page, albeit in the background. So my question is this: Is there a way to stop the fadeIn function (or any jquery animation, really) after animating for 75% of its expected animation time? This would leave my image 75% mixed the white rectangle, and I wouldn't have to deal with IE's nasty transparent png bug. Thanks!

  So this might be a fairly specific issue but I figured I'd post it since I spent hours struggling with it before I was able to determine the cause. <asp:GridView ID="gvAttachments" DataKeyNames="UploadedID" AutoGenerateColumns="false" OnSelectedIndexChanged="gvAttachments_SelectedIndexChanged" runat="server"> <EmptyDataTemplate>There are no attachments associated to this email template.</EmptyDataTemplate> <Columns> <asp:TemplateField ItemStyle-Width="100%"> <ItemTemplate> <asp:LinkButton CommandName="Select" runat="server"><img src="/images/icons/trashcan.png" style="border: none;" /></asp:LinkButton> </ItemTemplate> </asp:TemplateField> </Columns> In the ItemTemplate of the TemplateField of the GridView I have a LinkButton with an image inside of it. Normally I do this when I have an image with some text next to it but this time, for whatever reason, I just have the image. This causes the UpdatePanel to always do a full postback. • Why is my addSubview: method causing a leak?

  Okay, so I have done a ton of research on this and have been pulling my hair out for days trying to figure out why the following code leaks: [UIApplication sharedApplication].networkActivityIndicatorVisible = YES; UIImage *comicImage = [self getCachedImage:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@%@%@",@"http://url/",comicNumber,@".png"]]; self.imageView = [[[UIImageView alloc] initWithImage:comicImage] autorelease]; [self.scrollView addSubview:self.imageView]; self.scrollView.contentSize = self.imageView.frame.size; self.imageWidth = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%f",imageView.frame.size.width]; [UIApplication sharedApplication].networkActivityIndicatorVisible = NO; Both self.imageView and self.scrollView are @propety (nonatomic, retain) and released in my dealloc.. imageView isn't used anywhere else in the code. This code is also run in a thread off of the main thread. If I run this code on my device, it will quickly run out of memory if I continually load this view. • Firefox Sprite Sheet Image Not Showing Up

  I'm trying to create a chat room with emoticons. When a user types an emoticon such as :) in the chatroom, the CSS takes the proper image off the sprite sheet. But my code only seems to work in Opera and IE (odd combination). It doesn't show in Firefox or Chrome (if you manage to hone in exactly where the image should be, you can find the image blank.gif which is used as the stand-in to place the background-url over). Does anyone know what might cause this in Firefox/Chrome? • CCLabelAtlas setString doesn't update label

  Hello! I have a CCLabelAtlas that I have on a layer to display the current score within my game...the problem that I am having with it is that it does not update when I use [scoreLabel setString:]. Here's how I have it laid out: In the header: @interface GameScene : CCLayer { ... CCLabelAtlas* scoreLabel; } And in the init: scoreLabel = [[CCLabelAtlas alloc] initWithString:@"0" charMapFile:@"scoreCharMap.png" itemWidth:6 itemHeight:8 startCharMap:'.']; [scoreLabel setPosition:ccp(105, 414)]; [self addChild:scoreLabel z: 6]; scoreCharMap.png is a custom map that includes ./0123456789 of my desired font. When the score is changed, I attempt to do this to get the label to update with the current score: NSString* str = [[NSString alloc] initWithFormat:@"%d", [[GameRunner sharedInstance] currentScore]]; [scoreLabel setString: str]; [str release]; [scoreLabel draw]; Problem is that it doesn't ever update - it just sits there and displays 0. I know for a fact due to breakpoints and debugging that setString is being called, and that the string that it should be displaying is correct - but it just doesn't update. Hard-coding the value and saying [scoreLabel setString:@"1234"] does nothing, either. What am I doing wrong here? I am using Cocos2d 0.99 - thanks in advance!

  So I am trying to access a jquery soundmanager variable from one script (wpaudio.js – from the wp-audio plugin) inside of another (init.js – my own javascript). I am creating an alternate pause/play button higher up on the page and need to resume the current soundID, which is contained as part of a class name in the DOM. Here is the code that creates that class name in wpaudio.js: function wpaButtonCheck() { if (!this.playState || this.paused) jQuery('#' + this.sID + '_play').attr('src', wpa_url + '/wpa_play.png'); else jQuery('#' + this.sID + '_play').attr('src', wpa_url + '/wpa_pause.png'); } Here is the output: where wpa0 would be the sID of the sound I need. My current script in init.js is: $('.mixesSidebar #currentSong .playBtn').toggle(function() { soundManager.pauseAll(); $(this).addClass('paused'); }, function() { soundManager.resumeAll(); $(this).removeClass('paused'); }); I need to change resumeAll to "resume(this.sID)", but I need to somehow store the sID onclick and call it in the above function. Alternately, I think a regular expression that could get the class name of the current play button and either parse the string up to the "_play" or use a trim function to get rid of "_play"– but I'm not sure how to do this. • Aliasing Resources (WPF)

  I am trying to alias a resource in XAML, as follows: <UserControl.Resources> <StaticResourceExtension x:Key="newName" ResourceKey="oldName"/> </UserControl.Resources> oldName simply refers to a resource of type Image, defined in App.xaml. As far as I understand, this is the correct way to do this, and should work fine. However, the XAML code gives me the superbly unhelpful error: "The application XAML file failed to load. Fix errors in the application XAML before opening other XAML files." This appears when I hover over the StaticResourceExtension line in the code (which has a squiggly underline). Several other errors are generated in the actual Error List, but seem to be fairly irrelevant and nonsenical (such messages as "The name 'InitializeComponent' does not exist in the current context"), as they all disappear when the line is removed. I'm completely stumped here. Why is WPF complaining about this code? Any ideas as to a resolution please? Note: I'm using WPF in .NET 3.5 SP1. Update 1: I should clairfy that I do receive compiler errors (the aforementioned messages in the Error List), so it's not just a designer problem. Update 2: Here's the relevant code in full... • What is the proper way to align UITableViewCells when only some have an imageView?

  Hello all, I am new to iPhone programming and working on my first real application (i.e. one not written in a book or online) and I've run into a small problem which I could solve a multitude of ways, but feel like there should be a good solution that perhaps I am just missing. Here is the scenario: I have a UITableView with a bunch of standard UITableViewCells in it. What I want to do is toggle a green check mark when the cell is selected and I have that part working (note: I'm already using the accessoryType for something else, so I can't use it for the checkmark...besides, it's not as pretty). Unfortunately, when I toggle the checkmark like so: if (...) { cell.imageView.image = [UIImage imageNamed:@"checkmark.png"]; } else { cell.imageView.image = nil; } It makes the cell's label bounce back and forth depending on whether it is checked or not. What is the proper way to align the cell's text (set via cell.textLabel.text) regardless of whether or not it has an image set? The solutions I have come up with are: Create a blank 40x40 png image in Photoshop and set the unchecked to that Create a blank 40x40 image solely in code Set some setting that I don't know about that will align it for me Create a subclass of UITableCellView that does what I need (which would be stupid, I'd just go with option 1...) Suggestions? Thoughts? Comments? Thank you very much :-) P.S. I'd like the solution to work with OS 3.0 and 4.0 if that makes any sort of difference.

  Hi, I'm trying to show a different image when the button is disabled. Should be easy with triggers, right?! For some reason, I have not been able to get the images to switch.   I'm running dozens of map reduce jobs for a number of different purposes using disco. My data has grown enormous and I thought I would try using DDFS for a change rather than standard txt files. I've followed the DISCO map/reduce example Counting Words as a map/reduce job, without to much difficulty and with the help of others, Reading JSON specific data into DISCO I've gotten past one of my latest problems. I'm trying to read data in/out of ddfs to better chunk and distribute it but am having a bit of trouble. If i turn off "display:table-cell;" style in Firebug and then turn it back on, it fixes that menu node. any ideas? p.s.: i don't want to mess with the menu itself, since it's a part of a DNN Forum 4.4.3. I'd rather fix the CSS to make it show correctly.

The onClick event adds a margin-top of 6px to give the impressions of a button depress. I'm then using PHP to detect which page the user is visiting to add an .active class to the relevant menu item. The question, the .active class should remain in place until the user hovers over a different menu item. At which point the .active class should be removed from this element - As the .active class is reused on the .hover events.   Some time ago I made a script that takes some text and returns it as an image, and worked flawlessly. But I'm not sure since when a weird bug started to happen. The letters that have a (my apologies to the font geeks) "glyph" on the left get pushed to the right so the letter starts on it, but leaves space only for the main letter, hehe, I think an example should do it. • How can I get the dimensions of a drawn string without padding?

  I'm trying to create an image with some text on it and I want the image's size to match the size of the rendered text. When I use System.Windows.Forms.TextRenderer.MeasureText(...) to measure the text, I get dimensions that include font padding. When the text is rendered, it seems to use the same padding. Is there any way to determine the size of a string of text and then render it without any padding?   My datasource has an Rating dataItem contains an integer from 0 to 5. I'd like to print stars accordignly. It is weird, because when I used <%# DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem, "Name")%> a line before, it worked great. Is it clever to include loops in my aspx page? I think it's not very convenient. What's my alternatives? What's that # means? Thank you very much.

• Background Image not showing up in IE8

  So I have a tiny header image that repeats on the x axis, but for some reason it won't show up in IE8. Anyone know a work around?
