  • How to: Searchlogic and Tags

    I have installed searchlogic and added will_paginate etc. I currently have a product model that has tagging enabled using the acts_as_taggable_on plugin. I want to search the tags using searchlogic. Here is the taggable plugin page: http://github.com/mbleigh/acts-as-taggable-on Each product has a "tag_list" that i can access using Product.tag_list or i can access a specific tag using Product.tags[0] I can't find the scope to use for searching however with search logic. Here is my part of my working form. <p> <%= f.label :name_or_description_like, "Name" %><br /> <%= f.text_field :name_or_description_like %> </p> I have tried :name_or_description_or_tagged_with_like and :name_or_description_or_tags_like and also :name_or_description_or_tags_list_like to try and get it to work but I keep have an error that says the options i have tried are not found (named scopes not found). I am wondering how I can get this working or how to create my own named_scope that would allow me to search the tags added to each product by the taggable plugin. Thanks!

    In the context of C# 4, ASP.NET MVC 2, and NHibernate; I've got the following scenario: Let's assume an entity Product that have an association to ProductType. In a product edit view; how do I implement that only a sub-set of the product's properties are shown in an elegant and DRY way? Use a product view model builder, and from different view models automagically generate the view with my own Html.EditorForModel() (including drop-downs and other stuff not out-of-the-box)? Attribute the properties of one view model and use the Html.EditorForModel() way aforementioned? Use one model, but implement different web controls (view strategies) (can it be done DRY?)? Something else entirely?

  • Rails routes question. Always find by name and remove /class_name/ from route

Category has_many products and Product belongs_to Category I want my routes to be like this: /:category_type/:category_name/ opens Product#index /:category_type/ opens Category#show / opens Category#index Is there a way to achieve that with resources?   • mysql fulltext search as level2 index

    lets say I have a table with product details. one of the fields is category (integer). I want to do fulltext search on product name in specific category. Unfortunately Mysql does not allow me to specify index that includes category and product name as fulltext. It looks like I can use fulltext only on product_name and theefore any fulltext search will search product names in all categories. Is there any way to solve this (allow fulltext search/index only on products in category)?

    I have a database table with e.g. a weight value e.g. CREATE TABLE product ( id SERIAL NOT NULL, product_name item_name NOT NULL, . . weight NUMERIC(7,3), -- the weight in kg . . CONSTRAINT PK_product PRIMARY KEY (id) ); This results is the model: class Product(models.Model): . weight = models.DecimalField(max_digits=7, decimal_places=3, blank=True, null=True) . I store the weight in kg's, i.e. 1 kg is stores as 1, 0.1 kg or 100g is stored as 0.1 To make it easier for the user, I display the weight in the Admin list display in grams by specifying: def show_weight(self): if self.weight: weight_in_g = self.weight * 1000 return '%0f' % weight_in_g So if a product weighs e.g. 0.5 kg and is stored in the database as such, the admin list display shows 500 Is there also a way to alter the number shown in the 'Change product' window. This window now shows the value extracted from the database, i.e. 0.5. This will confuse a user when I tell him with the help_text to enter the number in g, while seeing the number of kgs. Before saving the product I override save as follows: def save(self): if self.weight: self.weight = self.weight / 1000 This converts the number entered in grams to kgs.

    I was browsing my teacher's code when I stumbled across this: Order* order1 = NULL; then order1 = order(customer1, product2); which calls Order* order(Customer* customer, Product* product) { return new Order(customer, product); } This looks like silly code. I'm not sure why, but the teacher initialized all pointers to NULL instead of declaring them right away(looking at the code it's entirely possible, but he chose not to). My question is: is this good or acceptable code? Does the function call have any benefits over calling a constructor explicitely? And how does new work in this case? Can I imagine the code now as kind of like: order1 = new Order(customer, product);

    Hello, I've usually have difficulties with return types when it comes to linq. I'll explain by the following examples. Let's say I have a Table Products with ProductID, Name, Category, and Price as columns : 1) IQueryable<Product public IQueryable<Product> GetChildrenProducts() { return (from pd in db.Products where pd.Category == "Children" select pd); } 2) Product public Product GetProduct(int id) { return (from pd in db.Products where pd.ProductID == id select pd).FirstOrDefault(); } Now, if I decide to select, for instance, only one column (Price or Name) or even 2 or 3 columns (Name and Price), but in any case, less than the 4 columns, what's going to be the return type? I mean this: public returnType GetSomeInformation() { return (from pd in db.Products select new { pd.Name, pd.Price } } What SHOULD BE the returnType for the GetSomeInformation()? Thanks for helping

    I realise it is possible to create a crosstab within sqlite, but is it possible to dynamically determine the relevant categories/columns at runtime rather than hardcoding them? Given the following example, it can get rather tedious ...   • Adding childs to list of parents with jquery /mvc2

    Hi, I have a table of products on my page, each product has zero or more colors, the colors are shown as a list beneath the product. After the colors I have a button to add a color. The button will do an ajax call with the parent product id to a controller which will return a JSON object with color information. My problem is where to store the product id in the DOM, should I put it in a hidden field and use jquery in the click event of the "add color" to get to it? What is the best way to do this? TIA, John EDIT: The page is initially rendered on the server so I don't want to use jquery to add the id's to the page.

  • file_column not creating files, just empty tmp directory

    Up to the end of December 2009 everything worked fine, so i assume that after some upgrades on servers (Ubuntu 8.10 and second Ubuntu 9.10) something stopped working. Model: class Product < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :category file_column :thumbnail, :magick = { :geometry = "150x100" } there is of course table 'products' in database, and it has column 'thumbnail' what's interesting that File actually is uploaded to server, it goes to the /tmp directory under RackMultipartXXXX-0 name, and it is unmodified image. The problem is, that then this file is not moved to 'tmp' dir under RAILS_ROOT/public/product/ nor the 'XX' (where xx means ID of a product) under public/product also. i don't know what to do, i spend few HOURS trying different versions of file_column, also trying to make new, test rails application only from scaffold, but then, in this new application problem was the same

Nothing special, - the shopping cart has many line_items - each line_item has_one product associated and a quantity with it class Cart < ActiveRecord::Base attr_accessible :line_items has_many :line_items, :dependent => :destroy end class LineItem < ActiveRecord::Base attr_accessible :quantity, :product belongs_to :cart has_one :product end I'm trying to use RSpec to test this association, but i'm doing something wrong as I'm getting an error that says: DEPRECATION WARNING: You're trying to create an attribute 'line_item_id'. Writing arbitrary attributes on a model is deprecated, and I'm not sure why. In my factories.rb file I'm defining the line_item factory as follows: factory :line_item do quantity { Random.rand(1..5) } product end factory :cart do factory :cart_with_two_line_items do ignore do line_item_count 2 end after(:create) do |cart, evaluator| FactoryGirl.create_list(:line_item, evaluator.line_item_count, cart_id: cart) end end end Any pointers where I'm going wrong, it's probably something basic, but I'm still quite new to Rspec. There is a quantity field(nonmodel) where the user can enter the quantity While adding a new product if the user enters: type: soda quantity: 3 Then there 3 records should be created in product model with type= soda like the following. id type 2 soda 3 soda 4 soda If user enters location: aisle4 quantity: 2 Then id location 5 ailse4 6 ailse4 Can you tell me how to pass the nonmodel field 'quantity' to the rails(model or controller) and how use it to add the products in groups as mentioned above? or should I create a column called quantity in my product table? Will the history be updated too for all these new records with after_create filter which I already have ? Is there any good tutorial or book which shows how to pass such nonmodel html/javascript fields from view to rails and then back to the view? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

  • How do I get a full Magento session in an external script? (Specifically, Catalog Rules)

    I'm running an external script that loads up a Magento session. Within that script, I'm loading products and grabbing a bunch of properties. The one issue is that getFinalPrice() does not apply the catalog rules that apply to the product. I'm doing everything I know to set the session, even a bunch of stuff that I think is superfluous. Nothing seems to get these rules applied. When I create a new post in it and view it, the link is something like this: "http://localhost/wordpress/product/a-product-title" This page views as expected but when I try to go to the supposed parent page: "http://localhost/wordpress/product/" I get a 404 error page.
