  • SQL Server 2008 2mb Limit for XML??

    I am trying to output a long XML result from SMSS. When I right click on the results and 'save results as...', I can only get a 2mb file? I have changed the settings in SMSS via Tools - Options - Query Results - SQL Server - Results to Grid, for XML data to be unlimited. Forever, it still seems to be truncating my XML results? So, how can I bypass this problem and output my XML result to a file? Thanks

It seems I can only create a new project or open a solution file, but not set the working directory to the folder I want and start work on existing project. I want to have several instances on a single form, be able to move them around and then sample those points, obviously returning the color of the pixel at the center of the crosshair, is there already a tool that will do this, before I go and write one? My output is unexpected. The array mysteriously grows in size, in between. If you change the code so that the variable sizeOfInput is changed to sizeOfInputt, it gives the expected results! A search done at Microsoft Visual C++ Developer Center doesn't give any results for "sizeOfInput". I am not a C/C++ expert, and am curious to find out why this happens - any C/C++ experts who can "shed some light" on this? Unrelated note: I seriously thought of rewriting the whole code to use quicksort or merge sort before posting it here. But, after all, it is not Stooge sort...

  • Firewall configuration. (Windows server 2008)

    Hello. I'm having a little problem with configuring the firewall on my server. I only want a specific range of IPs to be able to access specific ports. For example, I'm having alot of password attempts to some of my servers, so I want to make it more safe by only allowing incoming connections from a specific range of domain. Example: My IP is usually adsl-324-4.somecompany.com so I want to allow *.somecpompany.com to connect, as my IP is dynamic. That would get rid of alot of attempts to hack into my servers. But I have no idea how to mask a domain like that for the firewall. How could I for example allow all incoming connections from *.is? Thanks.

  • How do I view the parameters of currently running procs in SQL Server 2008

    I am trying to troubleshoot an issue that is popping up on our new SQL Server. While viewing the running processes (sp_who2) I can't tell what parameters a proc was started with. I can find the name of the proc using: DBCC INPUTBUFFER (spid) I can even find some additional info, but I can't see a way to show the parameters. (http://sqlserverpedia.com/blog/sql-server-bloggers/sql-server-%E2%80%93-get-last-running-query-based-on-spid/) I know I can see the parameters if I do a trace, but that doesn't help in this case.

    When the deubgger is attached to a process on remote server - What locations are searched for the pdb? In what order? (e.g. is it searched on the remote server (debuggee) or on the local client (deubger)) When I use the deubgger to manually load pdb file from specific location - is the deubbger looking for the file locally or is it the remote debugger monitor looking for the file on the? Is there any article that describes that process?

    What is the type that sql server assigns to the numeric literal: 2. , i.e. 2 followed by a dot? I was curious because: select convert(varchar(50), 2.) union all select convert(varchar(50), 2.0) returns: 2 2.0 which made me ask what's the difference between 2. and 2.0 type wise? Sql server seems to assign types to numeric literals depending on the number itself by finding the minimal storage type that can hold the number. A value of 1222333 is stored as int while 1152921504606846975 is stored as big int. thanks

  • How can I get Virtual Server 2005 R2 running on Windows Server 2008 R2?

    For various reasons (old VT-less hardware, and .vhd support) we need to still run Virtual Server 2005 R2. It's just for lab/demo work but we'd like to run the host on the newest Windows OS possible. It's documented and at least partially supported to run the old Virtual Server 2005 R2 SP1 on Windows Server 2008 (non-R2). I've done that before. I'm wondering if anyone has gotten the scenario in the title above to work.     We have a new Dell R710 server that came with the following storage configuration: 8 x 146GB SAS 10k 6Gbps disks 1 x Perc H700 Integrated Controller (2 x 4 disks - 2 ports each supporting 4 disks) What would be the optimal configuration if we were just after performance? What would be the optimal configuration if we were after performance but wanted data resilience. As per 2 above but with a hot standby disk? We plan to run Windows 2008 R2 and SQL Server 2008 R2. Maximising storage capacity isn't a prime concern.

    One week ago Microsoft SQL Server 2012 finally debuted with a virtual launch event and you can find many intro sessions there (20 minutes each). There is a lot of new content available if you want to learn more about SQL 2012 and in this blog post I’d like to provide a few link to sessions, documents, bits and courses that are available now or very soon. First of all, the release of Analysis Services 2012 has finally released PowerPivot 2012 (many of us called it PowerPivot v2 before this official name) and also the new Data Mining Add-in for Microsoft Office 2010, now available also for Excel 64bit! And, of course, don’t miss the Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Feature Pack, there are a lot of upgrades for both DBAs and developers. I just discovered there is a new LocalDB version of SQL Express that can run in user mode without any setup. Is this the end of SQL CE? But now, back to Analysis Services: if you want some tutorial on Tabular, the Microsoft Virtual Academy has a whole track dedicated to Analysis Services 2012 but you will probably be interested also in the one about Reporting Services 2012. If you think that virtual is good but it’s not enough, there are plenty of conferences in the coming months – these are just those where I and Alberto will deliver some SSAS Tabular presentations: SQLBits X, London, March 29-31, 2012: if you are in London or want a good reason to go, this is the most important SQL Server event in Europe this year, no doubts about it.   • Why won't my Windows 7 KMS key work on my Server 2008 KMS server?

    Our Microsoft volume licensing site was recently updated to include our Windows 7 and Server 2008 R2 KMS keys. We have an existing KMS server running on Server 2008 (not R2). In an attempt to be proactive about supporting the new OSes in our environment, I unregistered the old KMS key with slmgr.vbs and tried registering the new key. The registration failed with Error 0xC004F050. The description for that error was "The Software Licensing Service reported that the product key is invalid." What's wrong? I've checked and double checked that for typos against what is listed on the Volume Licensing website.

  • Is Sql Server 2008 R2 unsupported by Operations Manager (SCOM) 2007 R2?

    Hey all, I'm performing a test configuration of System Center Operations Manager 2007 R2, on a system prepared with Sql Server 2008 R2. Unfortunately, the Scom 2007 R2 prerequisites verification program seems to be detecting exact versions of Sql Server, and not simply a minimum version, like it claims: "System Center Operations Manager 2007 R2 requires SQL Server 2005 Standard or Enterprise Edition with SP1 and above or SQL Server 2008 Standard or Enterprise edition with SP1 and above. Note: Operations Manager 2007 R2 does not support a 32-bit Operations Manager Operations database, Reporting Server data warehouse or Audit Collection database on a 64-bit operating system." I had hoped that this was just a helper tool that was assisting in getting me off the ground, but unfortunately it seems as if it's actually used as a gate for the installation to proceed. Has anyone encountered this? If so, is there a way to fool the installer into thinking that it has a proper version, or otherwise alert it to my valid configuration?
