  • Weblogic is slow to start (11mins) under VM (VirtualBox and VMware)

    (SOLVED! BY FAKING SYSTEM RANDOM GENERATOR, SEE BELOW) I'm setting up a VM image for my dev/build team. Inside that VM a Weblogic domain should be running. I use Ububtu server distro, WLS 9.2MP3 + ALSB. Everything works OK, quite fast, but at the start time the WLS stops twice for a measurable amounts of time. Two stops in total amount to about 10 minutes delay. For tasks where deployment requires server restart it's very annoying. :-( Sleeping time is not constant, sometimes the server starts very fast, sometimes so-so, sometimes 10 minutes or more. Interesting that if I press Enter while looking at the stopped server, it wakes up much faster, sometimes after a few seconds. WLST (Weblogic Jython shell) is also hanging for quite a time when executed in VM. It doesn't react to Enter though. Here must be some developers who run WLS with a VM. I wonder if others have the same problem? Was someone able to solve it?     I have PKCS#12 keystore that I've sucessfully imported in my browser for accessing a server that needs 2-way SSL authentication. Works perfectly reaching any https URL there. However, I'm unable to access an URL in the same server, and from the same host when using Axis 1.4. The given Axis faultString is: javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshakeException: sun.security.validator.ValidatorException: PKIX path building failed: sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target My javax.net.ssl.{keyStore,keyStorePassword,keyStoreType} properties seem to be set up fine. How can I solve this?

  • Comparison of the multiprocessing module and pyro?

    I use pyro for basic management of parallel jobs on a compute cluster. I just moved to a cluster where I will be responsible for using all the cores on each compute node. (On previous clusters, each core has been a separate node.) The python multiprocessing module seems like a good fit for this. I notice it can also be used for remote-process communication. If anyone has used both frameworks for remote-process communication, I'd be grateful to hear how they stack up against each other. The obvious benefit of the multiprocessing module is that it's built-in from 2.6. Apart from that, it's hard for me to tell which is better.

The applet can't open the HTTPS connection - it returns the following exception: javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshakeException: sun.security.validator.ValidatorException: PKIX path building failed: sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target So the problem is that I need to add the certificate as "trusted" for Java. I read that I should use the following command: keytool -import -alias abc -file ABCCA.cer Am I correct? How do I retrieve the *.cer file? The server is running Debian 5. I'm using Windows 7 and Java 6 on the client machine.

  • How get Tomahawk functionality with JSF 2.0 (Glassfish V3)

    I've started to upgrade an existing application written with JSF 1.1 and MyFaces Tomahawk 1.1 to JSF 2.0 to get facelets etc. I've now run into the snag that apparently Tomahawk is not JSF 2.0 compatible as it expects the stand-alone version of Facelets instead of the built-in to JSF 2.0 with the following error: org.apache.catalina.LifecycleException: com.sun.faces.config.ConfigurationException: CONFIGURATION FAILED! com.sun.facelets.tag.jsf.ComponentHandler (it appears to be placed in javax.faces.view.facelets now). I have looked around and there doesn't seem to be a JSF 2.0 facelet compatible version of Tomahawk. I only believe I need t:updateActionListener (inside t:dataTable) and the rowSpan facility of t:panelGroup. Is all this functionality available in JSF 2.0 directly, or must I locate a new library giving this? Any suggestions?

    Hi everybody. I'm working with gwtai to integrate a java applet into my gwt - project. Basic communication from my main application to the applet (such as invoking simple methods that return int or boolean values) works. But the main reason why I need to integrate this applet is, that I need it to connect to another server and receive a answer and pass it to my gwt-application. So there's one basic method in the applet: public String SendAndReceive(String host, int sendPort, int receivePort, String query) that connects to the server, receives an answer and returns this answer as a string. When I now try to invoke this method like this: applet.SendAndReceive("0.0.0.0", 9099, 2000, "show streams;"); I constantly run into following error (full error message at the end): com.google.gwt.core.client.JavaScriptException: (String): Error calling method on NPObject! I also read something about browser's Single Origin Policy, what would point in the same direction...up to now I have never worked with java applets.     I have a scenario where I have single entry point Servlet and further Servlets that requests are forwarded to that undertake heavy processing. I am looking at options to distribute this load and I would like to know if it is possible using Tomcat or another platform to forward requests between Servlets sitting on different servers using a cluster type configuration or similar. The reason why I am asking this is because I have a jar file for a server application.     Hi, I'm using cvKMeans2 for clustering, but I'm not sure, how it works in general - the part of choosing clusters. I thought that it set the first positions of clusters from given samples. So it means that in the end of clustering process would every cluster has at least one sample - in the output array of cluster labels will be full range of numbers (for 100 clusters - numbers 0 to 99). But as I checked output labels, I realised that some labels weren't used at all and only some were used. So, does anyone know, how it works? Or how should I use the parameters of cvKMeans2 to do what I want (cause I'm not sure if I use them right)? I'm using cvKMeans2 function also with optional parameters: cvKMeans2(descriptorMat, N_CLUSTERS, clusterLabels, cvTermCriteria( CV_TERMCRIT_EPS+CV_TERMCRIT_ITER, 10, 1.0), 1, 0, 0, clusterCenters, 0) Thanks for any advices!

  • odd problem with jni interacting with dll's - not sure why a change to gc ergonomics fixes it

    We were having a problem with our Tomcat jvm blowing up and giving us an hs_* dump at random times but always in the same spot, that wasn't very informative other than saying we had an EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION Commenting out various parts of the java that called particular jni functions just made it blow consistently in another spot. By changing our jvm options from: set PAF_OPTS=-Xms1024m -Xmx32000m -server -XX:+UseParallelGC -XX:+UseParallelOldGC -XX:+DisableExplicitGC -XX:+UseCompressedOops -Djava.library.path="%CATALINA_HOME%"\jni -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote TO set PAF_OPTS=-Xms1024m -Xmx32000m -server -XX:+DisableExplicitGC -XX:+UseCompressedOops -Djava.library.path="%CATALINA_HOME%"\jni -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote The problem went away. The solution does not give me a warm and fuzzy however and am wondering anyone might understand what's going on under the covers here. Environment: jdk1.6, 64 bit OS and Java, Tomcat, Windows
