  • Ubuntu 12.10 no network and no graphics

    I recently upgraded Ubuntu 12.04 to 12.10 only to find out that it won't connect to any network, neither wired nor wireless and the graphics is messed up too as in a low screen resolution. For 12.04, my system was running perfectly. I don't know why upgrade messed it up so bad. Reinstalling the OS is an issue because I have set up a lot of development environments that I cannot afford to set it up again.   • Source Control Manager Backend

    Hi Friends, What do you think is a better approach for Source Control Manager Backend. I am weighing File system vs Hosted Subversion service. Hosted Subversion-- (My company already has another group taking care of this) Advantages: * Zero maintenance on our end * Auto-backup and recovery * Reliability by auto-backup and file redundancy. * File history view in built, file merge, file diff On the other hand, while File system does not have the featured mentioned above but is much more simpler. Moreover, if files are hosted on Linux machine, which is backed up, it takes care of file system crash issues. Subversion will need working copies, which are going to be on this same Linux machine, and hence the need to not have an extra layer. Folks, I am looking for stronger reasons why I should take Subversion instead of keeping thing simple and going with File System. Let me know your opinions. Very thanks in advance, Gabriel. PS: I have explored few Commercial Source Manager, and have decide to go this route as it better suits our need.

However in my database, I have the [email protected] correctly saved. When I retrieve my user in the database, I use sefl::$em. If I use the $em in comments, I retrieve the right new email. I don't understand why in my WebTestCase, I can access to the new Entity Manager...

    IT specialists there J Thank you very much for your collective efforts here, and I got huge help reading your professional comments and advices on each questions I have searched so far! This time, I would like to ask for your practical advices or recommendation on what I am struggling on at this moment. I am currently seeking higher education for my career transition from performing art manager and director to “IT software and/or service development and management specialist”. However, as this field is quite new to me, and there are lots of different work positions, I have no idea which grad major I better pursue in order to get qualification. Of course I know this question could sounds wired as it is kind of personal choice. But my lack of understanding on how IT software companies work in general, your practical and experience-based advice will be great help to me, who spent more than two months of self-research on net. OK. Before my question, here is my plan and history, which are quite different from those currently in IT industry I think… 1) Target Firstly, get career transition into IT service or products companies and get experiences. Eventually, pursue IT entrepreneurship in combination with my arts and cultural production and business expertise. 2) Background Career: performing arts director and manager in theatre-based scale opera and musical Art education in youth BA in literature and Chinese studies (Art & Humanities) MA in Cultural & Creative Industries (Art & Humanities) – dissertation with focus on digital prosumption and the lived experience of the prosumer. (a qualitative research on the agents in the digital world) 2) Personally Huge interest in IT hardware and software, and their trend. Skills to build up, repair, tune PCs -of course this is no more than personal hobby, but shows my interests in this field. 4) Problem Encounter a question “So, what do you think you can contribute practically in this position”. This question turn me down everytime I go through job interviews, and I decided more education in the relevant area. Here are my questions. 1) In terms of work positions in IT software companies, I wonder if I can put the comparison of what “Artists” is to “Arts Manager or Director” is what “Developer” is to “Product Manager”. (Of course, this stereotypical division of Artist-Art Manager is out of sense because the domain overlaps to some extent, and is blurring at least in my field, and they are in different contexts, but just speaking easily.) Normally, artist comes with special arts educations, and they live in their own world of artistic inspiration and creation, and they feel alive in practice and on stages. Meanwhile, from the point of staging and managing productions, the role of art manager is critical as well. Our role cares how the production appeals to the audience in effective way, how to make profit and future sustainable management through that, how to set up future strategy in consideration of the external conditions such as political and social circumstances, audience trend and level, other production trends from on-going and historical perspectives, how and what the production make voice to the society from political, economic, humanitarian stances. So, we need keen eyes on economic, political, and societal environment, have to understand human-being and their desires, must know how to make presentation and attract investors, must have sense in managing and fighting over the limited financial resource, how to extend networking and so on. It is common that the two agents create productions in collaboration (normally not in that ideal way but in conflict and fight though J ). So, we need to know each other’s expertise to some extent, for better production. What are the work positions in IT software industries equivalent to the role of “art manager” in performing arts? From my view, considering developers come with special education in the world of computer science, software engineering, or others (self-education sometimes), and they express themselves with the arts of coding, computer languages on the black screen, and make sort of their artistic production online to the audience, I guess there might be someone who collaborate with developers in creating, managing, and launching IT services or products. 2) Which education among CS, SE, HCI, Information Science, is needed for those seeking such work position? Especially for person like me. (At this moment, Information Science has the highest possibility to get in, since I lack Calculus and Math in undergrad educaiton. But please let me know irrespective of this concern, I think there are ways to back it up if CS or SE education needed in my case) 3) Which field between Information Science and HCI can be more practical background regarding job hungting? And which of them have more demands in job market? AS I checked, HCI is more close to CS than IS in its focus of study area.     In one of my projects users are allowed to edit the same file. It is group work and max number of users in group is 4. It is rare that they will be editing at the same time but there is possibility of it. I am using ckeditor which displays the content. how I can lock the content while it is being edited? For the above case what will happen if one users open the content for editing and then never saves and leave window open. Is it possible to save the content, release the lock for editing by another users? If first user comes back to desk they should see the message that "content has been changed, please refresh". I am using php, mysql. Thanks

    I connected TV to my computer, and trying to set dual display. Whatever resolution I choose for my second display (TV) I get message like this: The selected configuration for displays could not be applied required virtual size does not fit available size: requested=(2704, 1050), minimum=(320, 200), maximum=(1680, 1680) How can I fix this? Also, while I was experimenting system went to deadlock, I restarted and after boot monitor just turns off once system is up.   • Check DHCP Option content

    Is it possible DHCP client check the contents of an option ? I need provisioning a Linux server with DHCP option 140 (option-140). But the server behaves as if the DHCP did not contain the information. In the file /var/lib/dhcp/dhclient.eth0.leases I do not see advanced DHCP options (option-140, option-141, option-142). How can I manually request the DHCP server to give me the contents of an option (to control the content) ? Bests Regards, Nathan

  • Unable to use "Manage Content and Structure" after removing Project server form the SharePoint farm

    We're no longer using Office Project Server, and I've removed it from the farm in which it was installed. However, now that it's been removed, I am unable to access the "Manage Content and Structure" link on some of our SharePoint sites. I get an error indicating that SharePoint Failed to find the XML file at location '12\Template\Features\PWSCommitments\feature.xml' Anyone have an idea how to fix this?

This set up was performing better than just having apache. but suddenly some change caused images getting blocked for like 2-3sec before actually downloading with apache+nginx setup. It doesnt happen with apache only set up? Any idea why it is happening with nginx? this was happening even i removed all external js from the page

This suggests a (10.4 only?) solution, but although i have the developer tools installed i don't have /Library/Spotlight/SourceCode.mdimporter. Is there a different procedure for Snow Leopard or did i miss something?

  • Override Expires header for proxied content in Apache

    Hi, I am serving proxied content with Apache that already contains an Expires header. Using mod_expires' ExpireDefault to override the already present Expires header does not work, the old header is left untouched. Is there another way to override the Expires header? I tried using mod_headers, but it seems I cannot do date calculation there. I also must override the Expires header, I cannot use Cache-Control with max-age for this. Regards, Jochen

  • Adobe Reader not loading form content

    We have an FDL file which is used to offer an online application possibility. The FDL is filled out and sent to a mailbox. When I open the received file, Adobe Reader starts, loads the document in Internet Explorer (had to change my default browser because it doesn't work in chrome - the customer uses IE as default) and displays a warning that Adobe Reader has blocked the connection to the server where the initial document is saved: I can then click on "Trust this document once" (translated by me!) or "Add this host to trusted hosts" (also translated by me!). The second option doesn't work at all. The first option works but is a little bit annoying. I looked into Adobe Readers options (Edit - "Voreinstellungen" in german / the last option - Security (advanced)) and found the possibility to add hosts, files and directories or allow Adobe Reader to use the "Trusted Websites" list from Internetoptions. When I add the website either to Trusted Websites or the trusted list in Adobe Readers options, the warning doesn't pop up but the content in the prefilled (by the applicant) input boxes of the document doesn't show up on Windows 7 but it does show up on Windows XP. This Screenshot shows the settings window described in the last paragraph. The big input box at the bottom normally holds the trusted files/directories/hosts list. System Information: Windows 7 Enterprise x64 Adobe Reader X multiple IE versions (mine is latest but there's also IE 7 or 8) How do I get Adobe Reader to load the content of the form? This behaviour can be reproduced on a PC. When opening an fdf from a command line the form fields are blank even though there is data in the fdf and the pdf is located in a mnaully entered trsuted folder. Steps to reproduce: Clean install a Windows 7 PC (or use a virtual box) Map a network drive to a shared folder with a subfolder e.g. c:\test\docs becomes m:\docs Set security permissions to allow full control to everyone Add an fdf and a matching pdf file in the subfolder Manually add m:\docs to each of the trusted folders in the trust manager registry settings Ensure that Enhanced Security is on Run a command line to open the fdf file Expected result: pdf is opened in Adobe Reader with form fields filled out with data Actual results: pdf is opened with blank fields 'Yellow bar' appears asking to add document to trusted locations It appears that Adobe Reader XI is ignoring the privileged locations entries in the registry. Adding the document via the 'yellow bar' adds the individual document, with the same folder, to the privileged locations but means that the process has to be repeated for every document that needs to be opened from the folder.

    YSlow always tells me my content is not served from a CDN no matter what value(s) I put in about:config extensions.yslow.cdnHostnames. I've tried entering my.cdn.com, http://my.cdn.com/folder1/a/b/, http://my.cdn.com basically every variation I could think of and no matter what values I configure it never acknowledges it's hosted on a CDN. Is this just a giant bug in YSlow or is there some kind of specified format that's not explained anywhere that it wants?

    I am trying to use wget and http to download all contents from folderAA below to directory /root/sstest wget -r --directory-prefix="/root/sstest" -o /root/sstest2.log http://site.com/folder1/folder2/folderAA/ When I submit the above command nothing is downloaded. If I submit a wget request for a specific file from folderAA the file is actually downloaded to /root/sstest: wget -r --directory-prefix="/root/sstest" -o /root/sstest2.log http://site.com/folder1/folder2/folderAA/file.txt Can someone tell me why I cannot download all file content from folderAA at once using the first wget request?

  • Best Way to Load Streaming Media Content in Intranet

    Hello, What would be the best way to deal with large streaming media content in Intranet. We have a 50 MB file that is to be loaded to our Intranet site. Currently we have just pointed it to a file location instead of using a Data Streaming Server. This will download to each client when selected and is obviously not a good approach to accessing streaming media when accessing from overseas offices. Any suggestions? Cheers, Magic

Is it possible somehow to define a domain name(s) for which (only for 1 domain! not every page) some regexps should be looked for? To be clear: How to replace "Google"-"garbage" in page source only for host host.example.org? May be other content filtering system can do this? Then which one?
