  • php security holes POCs

    - by Flavius
    Hi Please provide examples for all of these: XSS, CSRF, SQL injection with both the source code and the attack steps for each. Other attack vectors are welcome. The most complete answer gets a accepted. The configuration is a fairly standard one, as of PHP 5.3.2, core settings: allow_call_time_pass_reference => Off => Off allow_url_fopen => On => On allow_url_include => Off => Off always_populate_raw_post_data => Off => Off arg_separator.input => & => & arg_separator.output => & => & asp_tags => Off => Off auto_append_file => no value => no value auto_globals_jit => On => On auto_prepend_file => no value => no value browscap => no value => no value default_charset => no value => no value default_mimetype => text/html => text/html define_syslog_variables => Off => Off disable_classes => no value => no value disable_functions => no value => no value display_errors => STDOUT => STDOUT display_startup_errors => On => On doc_root => no value => no value docref_ext => no value => no value docref_root => no value => no value enable_dl => Off => Off error_append_string => no value => no value error_log => syslog => syslog error_prepend_string => no value => no value error_reporting => 32767 => 32767 exit_on_timeout => Off => Off expose_php => On => On extension_dir => /usr/lib/php/modules/ => /usr/lib/php/modules/ file_uploads => On => On highlight.bg => <font style="color: #FFFFFF">#FFFFFF</font> => <font style="color: #FFFFFF">#FFFFFF</font> highlight.comment => <font style="color: #FF8000">#FF8000</font> => <font style="color: #FF8000">#FF8000</font> highlight.default => <font style="color: #0000BB">#0000BB</font> => <font style="color: #0000BB">#0000BB</font> highlight.html => <font style="color: #000000">#000000</font> => <font style="color: #000000">#000000</font> highlight.keyword => <font style="color: #007700">#007700</font> => <font style="color: #007700">#007700</font> highlight.string => <font style="color: #DD0000">#DD0000</font> => <font style="color: #DD0000">#DD0000</font> html_errors => Off => Off ignore_repeated_errors => Off => Off ignore_repeated_source => Off => Off ignore_user_abort => Off => Off implicit_flush => On => On include_path => .:/usr/share/pear => .:/usr/share/pear log_errors => On => On log_errors_max_len => 1024 => 1024 magic_quotes_gpc => Off => Off magic_quotes_runtime => Off => Off magic_quotes_sybase => Off => Off mail.add_x_header => On => On mail.force_extra_parameters => no value => no value mail.log => no value => no value max_execution_time => 0 => 0 max_file_uploads => 20 => 20 max_input_nesting_level => 64 => 64 max_input_time => -1 => -1 memory_limit => 128M => 128M open_basedir => no value => no value output_buffering => 0 => 0 output_handler => no value => no value post_max_size => 8M => 8M precision => 14 => 14 realpath_cache_size => 16K => 16K realpath_cache_ttl => 120 => 120 register_argc_argv => On => On register_globals => Off => Off register_long_arrays => Off => Off report_memleaks => On => On report_zend_debug => Off => Off request_order => GP => GP safe_mode => Off => Off safe_mode_exec_dir => no value => no value safe_mode_gid => Off => Off safe_mode_include_dir => no value => no value sendmail_from => no value => no value sendmail_path => /usr/sbin/sendmail -t -i => /usr/sbin/sendmail -t -i serialize_precision => 100 => 100 short_open_tag => Off => Off SMTP => localhost => localhost smtp_port => 25 => 25 sql.safe_mode => Off => Off track_errors => Off => Off unserialize_callback_func => no value => no value upload_max_filesize => 2M => 2M upload_tmp_dir => no value => no value user_dir => no value => no value user_ini.cache_ttl => 300 => 300 user_ini.filename => .user.ini => .user.ini variables_order => GPCS => GPCS xmlrpc_error_number => 0 => 0 xmlrpc_errors => Off => Off y2k_compliance => On => On zend.enable_gc => On => On

  • How to parse japanese char (utf8?) from imap_fetchbody?

    - by timh
    I am pulling down an email which has english, chinese and japanese in the email. I was using PHP/EZComponents to do this, but a certain japanese char was just not coming through so I am switching to php imap_* funcs to see if they will work. This is what I have below, and the output I am getting. I need to decode this somehow... I know this has been well (read:overly/chaotically) documented all over the web, but I dont have time to earn a PHD in this right now. Any help is greatly appreciated. $hn='{imap.gmail.com:993/imap/ssl}INBOX'; $inbox = imap_open($hn,$username,$password,CL_EXPUNGE); foreach($emails as $email_number) { $ov = imap_fetch_overview($inbox,$email_number,0); $msg = imap_fetchbody($inbox,$email_number,2); var_dump($msg); // doesnt work... .. but right idea? // var_dump( utf8_decode($msg) ); } PARTIAL OUTPUT: <font face=3D"Arial"><span lang=3D"EN-US" style=3D"font-size:10.5pt"><br></= span></font><font color=3D"navy" face=3D"MS Gothic"><span lang=3D"JA" style= =3D"font-size:10.5pt">=CC=EC=9A=DD=A4=AC=A4=A4=A4=A4=A4=AB=A4=E9=A1=A2</spa= n></font></p><p style=3D"margin-right:0pt;margin-bottom:12pt;margin-left:0p= t"> <font color=3D"navy" face=3D"MS Gothic"><span lang=3D"JA" style=3D"font-siz= e:10.5pt"><br></span></font></p><p style=3D"margin-right:0pt;margin-bottom:= 12pt;margin-left:0pt"><font color=3D"navy" face=3D"MS Gothic"><span lang=3D= "JA" style=3D"font-size:10.5pt">xxend</span></font></p>

  • Regular Expression doesn't match

    - by dododedodonl
    Hi All, I've got a string with very unclean HTML. Before I parse it, I want to convert this: <TABLE><TR><TD width="33%" nowrap=1><font size="1" face="Arial"> NE </font> </TD> <TD width="33%" nowrap=1><font size="1" face="Arial"> DEK </font> </TD> <TD width="33%" nowrap=1><font size="1" face="Arial"> 143 </font> </TD> </TR></TABLE> in NE DEK 143 so it is a bit easier to parse. I've got this regular expression (RegexKitLite): NSString *str = [dataString stringByReplacingOccurrencesOfRegex:@"<TABLE><TR><TD width=\"33%\" nowrap=1><font size=\"1\" face=\"Arial\">(.+?)<\\/font> <\\/TD>(.+?)<TD width=\"33%\" nowrap=1><font size=\"1\" face=\"Arial\">(.+?)<\\/font> <\\/TD>(.+?)<TD width=\"33%\" nowrap=1><font size=\"1\" face=\"Arial\">(.+?)<\\/font> <\\/TD>(.+?)<\\/TR><\\/TABLE>" withString:@"$1 $3 $5"]; I'm no an expert in Regex. Can someone help me out here? Regards, dodo

  • How to set the size of a wx.aui.AuiManager Pane that is centered?

    - by aF
    Hello, I have three panes with the InfoPane center option. I want to know how to set their size. Using this code: import wx import wx.aui class MyFrame(wx.Frame): def __init__(self, parent, id=-1, title='wx.aui Test', pos=wx.DefaultPosition, size=(800, 600), style=wx.DEFAULT_FRAME_STYLE): wx.Frame.__init__(self, parent, id, title, pos, size, style) self._mgr = wx.aui.AuiManager(self) # create several text controls text1 = wx.TextCtrl(self, -1, 'Pane 1 - sample text', wx.DefaultPosition, wx.Size(200,150), wx.NO_BORDER | wx.TE_MULTILINE) text2 = wx.TextCtrl(self, -1, 'Pane 2 - sample text', wx.DefaultPosition, wx.Size(200,150), wx.NO_BORDER | wx.TE_MULTILINE) text3 = wx.TextCtrl(self, -1, 'Main content window', wx.DefaultPosition, wx.Size(200,150), wx.NO_BORDER | wx.TE_MULTILINE) # add the panes to the manager self._mgr.AddPane(text1, wx.CENTER) self._mgr.AddPane(text2, wx.CENTER) self._mgr.AddPane(text3, wx.CENTER) # tell the manager to 'commit' all the changes just made self._mgr.Update() self.Bind(wx.EVT_CLOSE, self.OnClose) def OnClose(self, event): # deinitialize the frame manager self._mgr.UnInit() # delete the frame self.Destroy() app = wx.App() frame = MyFrame(None) frame.Show() app.MainLoop() I want to know what is called when we change the size of the panes. If you tell me that, I can do the rest by myself :)

  • For Qt 4.6.x, how to auto-size text to fit in a specified width?

    - by darenchow
    Inside of my QGraphicsRectItem::paint(), I am trying to draw the name of the item within its rect(). However, for each of the different items, they can be of variable width and similarly names can be of variable length. Currently I am starting with a maximum font size, checking if it fits and decrementing it until I find a font size that fits. So far, I haven't been able to find a quick and easy way to do this. Is there a better, or more efficient way to do this? Thanks! void checkFontSize(QPainter *painter, const QString& name) { // check the font size - need a better algorithm... this could take awhile while (painter->fontMetrics().width(name) > rect().width()) { int newsize = painter->font().pointSize() - 1; painter->setFont(QFont(painter->font().family(), newsize)); } }

  • Can I set JFrame's normal size while it is maximized?

    - by icza
    I'd like to set the normal size of a visible JFrame while it is in Frame.MAXIMIZED_BOTH state (by normal size i mean the size of frame when it is in Frame.NORMAL state) . The reason I want to do this is so that when the user un-maximizes the frame, it will have the proper size I want it to be. But if I do so, the window will switch to normal state. If I set the size first, then switch to MAXIMIZED_BOTH state, then I will see a disturbing blink or resize (which I don't want to). I've also tried setting the size first, then changing state to MAXIMIZED_BOTH, and then making it visible, but the state change is deferred if the window is not visible (and will only be executed once it is made visible, also resulting in a visual resize). So what can I do if I want my frame to have a predefined normal size, but I want it to appear maximized?

  • How can the font size be changed in Notepad++?

    - by Peter Mortensen
    How can the font size be changed in Notepad++? I just downloaded and installed Notepad++ v5.4.5 (I have been using UltraEdit for the last 11.5 years) and can not find a menu command for changing the screen font. I want to change it to Lucida Console 18pt. Other notes: to download Notepad++ go directly to the SourceForce download page for Notepad++.

  • Virtual PC on Windows 7 doesn't have adjustment for video card size?

    - by Jian Lin
    The current VirtualBox has a place where the video card size can be set by the user. It seems that Win 7's Virtual PC doesn't have one? Will it auto adjust -- but what if the screen size is 800 x 600 and the user resize it to 1600 x 1200, then the original video size may not be enough and will that cause any issue? I do sometimes see blinking random pixel region showing on the VPC's screen... maybe it is cause by not enough video RAM size?

  • using PixelBender to double the size of a bitmap

    - by jedierikb
    I have a performance question about pixel bender. I want to enlarge many BitmapData (double their size into new BitmapData). I was doing this with as3, but wanted to use pixel bender to get better performance. On my machines, I get great comparative performance out of many pixel bender demonstrations. To my surprise (or bad coding / understanding), I am getting much worse performance out of pixel bender -- 2 seconds to do 3000 scalings vs .5 seconds! I expected to get at least the same performance as as3. What am I doing wrong? I got the straightforward pixel bender code here (and it is included below for easy reference). package { import aCore.aUtil.timingUtils; import flash.display.BitmapData; import flash.display.Shader; import flash.display.ShaderJob; import flash.display.Sprite; import flash.display.StageAlign; import flash.display.StageScaleMode; import flash.events.Event; import flash.geom.Matrix; public class flashFlash extends Sprite { [Embed ( source="pixelbender/bilinearresample.pbj", mimeType="application/octet-stream" ) ] private static var BilinearScaling:Class; public function flashFlash( ):void { stage.align = StageAlign.TOP_LEFT; stage.scaleMode = StageScaleMode.NO_SCALE; addEventListener( Event.ENTER_FRAME, efCb, false, 0, true ); } private function efCb( evt:Event ):void { removeEventListener( Event.ENTER_FRAME, efCb, false ); traceTime( "init" ); var srcBmd:BitmapData = new BitmapData( 80, 120, false, 0 ); var destBmd:BitmapData = new BitmapData( 160, 240, false, 0 ); var mx:Matrix = new Matrix( ); mx.scale( 2, 2 ); for (var i:uint = 0; i < 3000; i++) { destBmd.draw( srcBmd, mx ); } traceTime( "scaled with as3" ); // create and configure a Shader object var shader:Shader = new Shader( ); shader.byteCode = new BilinearScaling( ); shader.data.scale.value = [2]; shader.data.src.input = srcBmd; for (var j:uint = 0; j < 3000; j++) { var shaderJob:ShaderJob = new ShaderJob( ); shaderJob.shader = shader; shaderJob.target = destBmd; shaderJob.start( true ); } traceTime( "scaled with pixel bender bilinearresample.pbj" ); } private static var _lastTraceTime:Number = new Date().getTime(); public static function traceTime( note:String ):Number { var nowTime:Number = new Date().getTime(); var diff:Number = (nowTime-_lastTraceTime); trace( "[t" + diff + "] " + note ); _lastTraceTime = nowTime; return diff; } } } And the pixel bender code: <languageVersion : 1.0;> kernel BilinearResample < namespace : "com.brooksandrus.pixelbender"; vendor : "Brooks Andrus"; version : 1; description : "Resizes an image using bilinear resampling. Constrains aspect ratio - divide Math.max( input.width / output.width, input.height / output.height ) and pass in to the scale parameter"; > { parameter float scale < minValue: 0.0; maxValue: 1000.0; defaultValue: 1.0; >; input image4 src; output pixel4 dst; void evaluatePixel() { // scale should be Math.max( src.width / output.width, src.height / output.height ) dst = sampleLinear( src, outCoord() * scale ); // bilinear scaling } }

  • Delphi - Using DeviceIoControl passing IOCTL_DISK_GET_LENGTH_INFO to get flash media physical size (Not Partition)

    - by SuicideClutchX2
    Alright this is the result of a couple of other questions. It appears I was doing something wrong with the suggestions and at this point have come up with an error when using the suggested API to get the media size. Those new to my problem I am working at the physical disk level, not within the confines of a partition or file system. Here is the pastebin code for the main unit (Delphi 2009) - http://clutchx2.pastebin.com/iMnq8kSx Here is the application source and executable with a form built to output the status of whats going on - http://www.mediafire.com/?js8e6ci8zrjq0de Its probably easier to use the download, unless your just looking for problems within the code. I will also paste the code here. unit Main; interface uses Windows, Messages, SysUtils, Variants, Classes, Graphics, Controls, Forms, Dialogs, StdCtrls; type TfrmMain = class(TForm) edtDrive: TEdit; lblDrive: TLabel; btnMethod1: TButton; btnMethod2: TButton; lblSpace: TLabel; edtSpace: TEdit; lblFail: TLabel; edtFail: TEdit; lblError: TLabel; edtError: TEdit; procedure btnMethod1Click(Sender: TObject); private { Private declarations } public { Public declarations } end; TDiskExtent = record DiskNumber: Cardinal; StartingOffset: Int64; ExtentLength: Int64; end; DISK_EXTENT = TDiskExtent; PDiskExtent = ^TDiskExtent; TVolumeDiskExtents = record NumberOfDiskExtents: Cardinal; Extents: array[0..0] of TDiskExtent; end; VOLUME_DISK_EXTENTS = TVolumeDiskExtents; PVolumeDiskExtents = ^TVolumeDiskExtents; var frmMain: TfrmMain; const FILE_DEVICE_DISK = $00000007; METHOD_BUFFERED = 0; FILE_ANY_ACCESS = 0; IOCTL_DISK_BASE = FILE_DEVICE_DISK; IOCTL_VOLUME_BASE = DWORD('V'); IOCTL_DISK_GET_LENGTH_INFO = $80070017; IOCTL_VOLUME_GET_VOLUME_DISK_EXTENTS = ((IOCTL_VOLUME_BASE shl 16) or (FILE_ANY_ACCESS shl 14) or (0 shl 2) or METHOD_BUFFERED); implementation {$R *.dfm} function GetLD(Drive: Char): Cardinal; var Buffer : String; begin Buffer := Format('\\.\%s:',[Drive]); Result := CreateFile(PChar(Buffer),GENERIC_READ Or GENERIC_WRITE,FILE_SHARE_READ,nil,OPEN_EXISTING,0,0); If Result = INVALID_HANDLE_VALUE Then begin Result := CreateFile(PChar(Buffer),GENERIC_READ,FILE_SHARE_READ,nil,OPEN_EXISTING,0,0); end; end; function GetPD(Drive: Byte): Cardinal; var Buffer : String; begin If Drive = 0 Then begin Result := INVALID_HANDLE_VALUE; Exit; end; Buffer := Format('\\.\PHYSICALDRIVE%d',[Drive]); Result := CreateFile(PChar(Buffer),GENERIC_READ Or GENERIC_WRITE,FILE_SHARE_READ,nil,OPEN_EXISTING,0,0); If Result = INVALID_HANDLE_VALUE Then begin Result := CreateFile(PChar(Buffer),GENERIC_READ,FILE_SHARE_READ,nil,OPEN_EXISTING,0,0); end; end; function GetPhysicalDiskNumber(Drive: Char): Byte; var LD : DWORD; DiskExtents : PVolumeDiskExtents; DiskExtent : TDiskExtent; BytesReturned : Cardinal; begin Result := 0; LD := GetLD(Drive); If LD = INVALID_HANDLE_VALUE Then Exit; Try DiskExtents := AllocMem(Max_Path); DeviceIOControl(LD,IOCTL_VOLUME_GET_VOLUME_DISK_EXTENTS,nil,0,DiskExtents,Max_Path,BytesReturned,nil); If DiskExtents^.NumberOfDiskExtents > 0 Then begin DiskExtent := DiskExtents^.Extents[0]; Result := DiskExtent.DiskNumber; end; Finally CloseHandle(LD); end; end; procedure TfrmMain.btnMethod1Click(Sender: TObject); var PD : DWORD; CardSize: Int64; BytesReturned: DWORD; CallSuccess: Boolean; begin PD := GetPD(GetPhysicalDiskNumber(edtDrive.Text[1])); If PD = INVALID_HANDLE_VALUE Then Begin ShowMessage('Invalid Physical Disk Handle'); Exit; End; CallSuccess := DeviceIoControl(PD, IOCTL_DISK_GET_LENGTH_INFO, nil, 0, @CardSize, SizeOf(CardSize), BytesReturned, nil); if not CallSuccess then begin edtError.Text := IntToStr(GetLastError()); edtFail.Text := 'True'; end else edtFail.Text := 'False'; CloseHandle(PD); end; end. I placed a second method button on the form so I can write a different set of code into the app if I feel like it. Only minimal error handling and safeguards are there is nothing that wasn't necessary for debugging this via source. I tried this on a Sony Memory Stick using a PSP as the reader because I cant find the adapter for using a duo in my machine. The target is an MS and half of my users use a PSP for a reader half dont. However this should work fine on SD cards and that is a secondary target for my work as well. I tried this on a usb memory card reader and several SD cards. Now that I have fixed my attempt I get an error returned. 50 ERROR_NOT_SUPPORTED The request is not supported. I have found an application that uses this API as well as alot of related functions for what I am trying todo. I am getting ready to look into it the application is called DriveImage and its source is here - http://sourceforge.net/projects/diskimage/ The only thing I have really noticed from that application is there use of TFileStream and using that to get a handle on the physical disk.

  • How to obtain a random sub-datatable from another data table

    - by developerit
    Introduction In this article, I’ll show how to get a random subset of data from a DataTable. This is useful when you already have queries that are filtered correctly but returns all the rows. Analysis I came across this situation when I wanted to display a random tag cloud. I already had the query to get the keywords ordered by number of clicks and I wanted to created a tag cloud. Tags that are the most popular should have more chance to get picked and should be displayed larger than less popular ones. Implementation In this code snippet, there is everything you need. ' Min size, in pixel for the tag Private Const MIN_FONT_SIZE As Integer = 9 ' Max size, in pixel for the tag Private Const MAX_FONT_SIZE As Integer = 14 ' Basic function that retreives Tags from a DataBase Public Shared Function GetTags() As MediasTagsDataTable ' Simple call to the TableAdapter, to get the Tags ordered by number of clicks Dim dt As MediasTagsDataTable = taMediasTags.GetDataValide ' If the query returned no result, return an empty DataTable If dt Is Nothing OrElse dt.Rows.Count < 1 Then Return New MediasTagsDataTable End If ' Set the font-size of the group of data ' We are dividing our results into sub set, according to their number of clicks ' Example: 10 results -> [0,2] will get font size 9, [3,5] will get font size 10, [6,8] wil get 11, ... ' This is the number of elements in one group Dim groupLenth As Integer = CType(Math.Floor(dt.Rows.Count / (MAX_FONT_SIZE - MIN_FONT_SIZE)), Integer) ' Counter of elements in the same group Dim counter As Integer = 0 ' Counter of groups Dim groupCounter As Integer = 0 ' Loop througt the list For Each row As MediasTagsRow In dt ' Set the font-size in a custom column row.c_FontSize = MIN_FONT_SIZE + groupCounter ' Increment the counter counter += 1 ' If the group counter is less than the counter If groupLenth <= counter Then ' Start a new group counter = 0 groupCounter += 1 End If Next ' Return the new DataTable with font-size Return dt End Function ' Function that generate the random sub set Public Shared Function GetRandomSampleTags(ByVal KeyCount As Integer) As MediasTagsDataTable ' Get the data Dim dt As MediasTagsDataTable = GetTags() ' Create a new DataTable that will contains the random set Dim rep As MediasTagsDataTable = New MediasTagsDataTable ' Count the number of row in the new DataTable Dim count As Integer = 0 ' Random number generator Dim rand As New Random() While count < KeyCount Randomize() ' Pick a random row Dim r As Integer = rand.Next(0, dt.Rows.Count - 1) Dim tmpRow As MediasTagsRow = dt(r) ' Import it into the new DataTable rep.ImportRow(tmpRow) ' Remove it from the old one, to be sure not to pick it again dt.Rows.RemoveAt(r) ' Increment the counter count += 1 End While ' Return the new sub set Return rep End Function Pro’s This method is good because it doesn’t require much work to get it work fast. It is a good concept when you are working with small tables, let says less than 100 records. Con’s If you have more than 100 records, out of memory exception may occur since we are coping and duplicating rows. I would consider using a stored procedure instead.

As a matter of fact, Windows consistently ranks as the #1 development platform in our surveys, and now also ranks higher than any Linux distribution as a deployment platform among MySQL Community Edition users.   We've made various technical resources available in our MySQL on Windows Resource Center including articles, whitepapers and archived webinars. MySQL users are also sharing their experiences and writing how-to articles, and it's great to see former MySQL/Sun/Oracle employees still contributing! Thanks Anders for a recent step-by-step part 1 article on working with MySQL on Windows.   We also got feedback from customers wishing to get higher-level information about MySQL on Windows, to help them and others in their organizations better understand:   ·       Why is the world's most popular open source database so popular on Windows?   ·       What are the applications for which one should consider MySQL on Microsoft's platform?   ·       How should Windows shops relying on Microsoft databases get going with MySQL?   Those are the questions we aim to answer in our guide "MySQL on Windows - Why, Where and How", that you can download here.

  • Survey Probes the Project Management Concerns of Financial Services Executives

Being able to answer this question can provide important insight and value of good project management practices for your organization. According to 400 senior executives who participated in a new survey conducted by the Economist Intelligence Unit and sponsored by Oracle, unrealistic project goals is the main reason for roadblocks to success Other common stumbling blocks are poor alignment between project and organizational goals, inadequate human resources, lack of strong leadership, and unwillingness among team members to point out problems. This survey sample also had a lot to say about the impact of regulatory compliance on the overall portfolio management process. Thirty-nine percent acknowledged that regulations enabled efficient functioning of their businesses. But a similar number said that regulations often require more financial resources than were originally allocated to bring projects in on time. Regulations were seen by 35 percent of the executives as roadblocks to their ability to invest in the organization’s growth and success. These revelations among others are discussed in depth in a new on-demand Webcast titled “Too Good to Fail: Developing Project Management Expertise in Financial Services” now available from Oracle. The Webcast features Brian Gardner, editor of the Economist Intelligence Unit, who presents these findings from this survey along with Guy Barlow, director of industry strategy for Oracle Primavera. Together, they analyze what the numbers mean for project and program managers and the financial services industry. Register today to watch the on-demand Webcast and get a full rundown and analysis of the survey results. Take the Economist Intelligence Unit benchmarking survey and see how your views compare with those of other financial services industry executives in ensuring project success.  Read more in the October Edition of the quarterly Information InDepth EPPM Newsletter

Local regulations and currencies, contingent labor, hybrid public/private funding sources, and more threaten project budgets and schedules. According to Mike Sicilia, senior vice president and general manager for the Oracle Primavera Global Business Unit, there will be trillions of dollars invested in industrial projects around the globe between 2012 and 2016. But even with so much at stake, project leads don’t always have time to look for new and better enterprise project portfolio management (EPPM) software solutions to manage large-scale capital initiatives across the enterprise. Oracle’s recent acquisition of Skire, a leading provider of capital program management and facilities management applications available both in the cloud and on premises, gives customers outstanding new EPPM options. By combining Skire’s cloud-based solutions for managing capital projects, real estate, and facilities with Oracle’s Primavera EPPM solutions, project managers can quickly get a solution running that is interoperable across an extended enterprise. Staff can access the EPPM solution within days, rather than waiting for corporate IT to put technology in place. “Staff can access the EPPM solution within days, rather than waiting for corporate IT to put technology in place,” says Sicilia. This applies to a problem that has, according to Sicilia, bedeviled project managers for decades: extending EPPM functionality into the field. Frequently, large-scale projects are remotely located, and the lack of communications and IT infrastructure threatened the accuracy of project reporting and scheduling. JBO-27122: SQL error during statement preparation. Statement: SELECT AxEO.A_ID, AxEO.B_ID, AxEO.C_ID, ByEO.A_ID, ByEO.B_ID, ByEO.C_ID, Cz.A_ID, Cz.B_ID, Cz.C_ID FROM ABC_x AxEO, ABC_y ByEO, ABC_z CzEO WHERE AxEO.A_ID = ByEO.A_ID AND  CzEO.A_ID = :Bind_PId I copied and pasted the query on SQL worksheet, replaced :Bind_PId with a valid id, and executed the query. The query worked alright, implying the query was alright. I tried to connect to different DBs but the issue persisted, meaning it was not a DB issue either. Finally, the root cause was found to be in the concerned VO; one of the bind variables (say Bind_TId) was marked "Required". De-selecting the Required check-box resolved the issue. In retrospect, the issue looks to be rather straight-forward. However, the error message is not very helpful, if not misleading. Besides, it's counter-intuitive to think that a bind variable which is not being used in a query can cause error while statement preparation. The other bind variable - Bind_TId - was being used in other view criteria, not the view criteria involved in the given query. Still, it was required.

  • Automatic Standby Recreation for Data Guard

    - by pablo.boixeda(at)oracle.com
    Hi,Unfortunately sometimes a Standby Instance needs to be recreated. This can happen for many reasons such as lost archive logs, standby data files, failover, among others.This is why we wanted to have one script to recreate standby instances in an easy way.This script recreates the standby considering some prereqs:-Database Version should be at least 11gR1-Dummy instance started on the standby node (Seeking to improve this so it won't be needed)-Broker configuration hasn't been removed-In our case we have two TNSNAMES files, one for the Standby creation (using SID) and the other one for production using service names (including broker service name)-Some environment variables set up by the environment db script (like ORACLE_HOME, PATH...)-The directory tree should not have been modified in the stanby hostWe are currently using it on our 11gR2 Data Guard tests.Any improvements will be welcome! • Spotlight on a career path: Paul, Business Development Consultant

    - by Maria Sandu
    I came to work for Oracle in November 2012 as a Customer Intelligence Representative and since then I was promoted to a Business Development Consultant, for Commercial Industries in the UK, based in Dublin. My background was primarily in Logistics, working for such companies as Indaver Ireland, Wincanton and P&O. I spent 10 years working in this industry and gained experience in negotiating with customers and suppliers in order to meet the needs of both, monitoring the quality and quantity of goods as well as the efficiency and organisation of the movement and storage of products. I decided to move from my logistics career in 2009 to study Information Technology in D.I.T. This was a challenge for me to move my career path; however the lectures at the college helped me significantly with the ability to understand how IT can have an effect on how businesses operate. Following on from college I came to work for Oracle. This also presented challenges but the training I received and the encouragement from management helped me understand that the same business rules apply no matter what background you come from. I have also learnt that using my past experience in working with customers and suppliers in Logistics has helped me understand how to meet customer’s needs. Oracle has offered me excellent training such as Sandler Sales Techniques and John Costigan. I continue to get all the training that I need to develop my career. • SSAS deployment error: Internal error: Invalid enumeration value. Please call customer support! is not a valid value for this element.

    - by Kevin Shyr
    The first search on this error yielded some blog posts that says to check SQL server version.  It suggested that I couldn't deploy a SSAS project originally set for SSAS 2008 to a SSAS 2008 R2, which didn't make sense to me.  Combined with the fact that the error message was telling me to call customer support.  Why do I need to call customer support unless something catastrophic happened?Turns out that one of the file on the SQL server is corrupt.  I could simply delete the database on the SSAS server and re-run deployment.  Problem solved.SSAS errors in visual studio: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-priority:99; mso-style-qformat:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0in; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:11.0pt; font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif"; mso-ascii-font-family:Calibri; mso-ascii-theme-font:minor-latin; mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-theme-font:minor-fareast; mso-hansi-font-family:Calibri; mso-hansi-theme-font:minor-latin; mso-bidi-font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-bidi-theme-font:minor-bidi;} Error      10           Internal error: Invalid enumeration value. • Projected Results: Sound project management practices, combined with a complete technology platform, have an immediate and lasting impact on an organization’s bottom line.

It’s no secret that complex, large-scale projects need close management controls to ensure that they’re delivered on time and on budget. But now there’s growing evidence that failing to meet these goals can have far-reaching consequences, not only for the reputations and value of individual organizations but also for the tenure of their top executives. Government watchdogs forced one large contractor to suspend a multibillion-dollar defense program—and delay payment receipts—until a better management system was launched to more accurately track spending, project milestones, and other fundamental metrics. Significant delays in the opening of the £4.3 billion Terminal 5 at Heathrow Airport impaired an airline’s operations and contributed to a drop in its share prices. These real-world examples are noteworthy because of the huge financial risks they created. They’re also far from being isolated cases. Research by the Economist Intelligence Unit found that only 11 percent of companies claimed they delivered expected ROI on major capital projects 90 percent of the time or more. In addition, 12 percent of respondents said they achieved planned ROI less than half the time. According to Phil Thornton, lead consultant at the analyst firm Clarity Economics, the numbers demonstrate obvious challenges related to managing risks, accurately predicting ROI, and consistently delivering bottom-line growth for major capital investments “Portfolio management is a path to improve your organization’s competitive advantage. It helps make sure your organization is investing in the right things and not spending its time on things that are not delivering the intended results for the firm.” Read the full article here
