• I reinstalled OS X and the system was the same as before

  Strange thing happened. I want so sell my old Macbook and therefore used a disk image of the Snow Leopard DVD that I restored onto an external drive. I booted off the drive and went through the installation steps. Now I really would like to perform "archive and install", as there might be some files that I need later, but I didn't see the option. The only options for installation I had, were, including others, optional printer drivers and Rosetta. So I just clicked through and I wasn't given any other option. After about 45 minutes, my system booted again, and voila, there was my old system. Nothing changed. How should I proceed to actually reset the system? All I have is that Snow Leopard DVD image.

  I have two partitions, one for windows the other for Mac OS X. Recently, my Mac OS X crashed and my partition rendered unbootable. When I insert Mac OS X's installation CD everything seems normal from startup, to choosing whether to boot from Windows or CD, until the CD boots. The screen flickers and it becomes extremely dark can barely see anything but I can see that it is booted correctly. I tried increasing brightness but that did not work. After hours of trying to read what is on the screen and guessing where to click the installation did not go through... It took more than a couple of hours so I restarted. Now the partition is accessible through Windows but is not bootable. TL;DR Is it possible to install Mac OS X on a visible partition without the CD through Windows XP?... Thanks

Wizard"), I get to a point where it the window reads: MySQL Server Instance Configuration (bold header) Choose the configuration for the server instance. Ready to execute... o Prepare configuration o Write configuration file o Start service o Apply security settings (this line is greyed out) Please press [Execute] to start the configuration. [ Back ] [ Execute ] [ Cancel ] So I press execute, and then a red X appears in the second step: Write configuration file and at the bottom, where it originally said: Please press [Execute] to start the configuration. It now says: The template configuration file cannot be found at C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.0\bin\my-template.cnf I'm unsure what it means, but I canceled the config wizard and looked in the directory that had been created (C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.0).   I have been stuck on a netbook since last year due to budget constraints, but finally managed to get a decent laptop from a very generous person. Now my ubuntu installation in the netbook has all my development tools, libraries, personal mediawiki, other servers and things that I'm only reminded when the command line complains. I can always ssh into my netbook, but don't want to carry both the computers all the time. Is it possible to create an image from my netbook Ubuntu and use it out of the box in a Vmware player in the new laptop?

  Hello Experts, I installed Flash media server 3.5 in windows 7 home basic.it installed properly. When i try to open the media server,and not showing in its FMS ADMIN CONSOLE there. I have beeen checking the windows services, it shows flash media server is running.i have installed FMS in Default port (1935,1111).i have MCAFEE Antivirus.1st time it blocks the My FMs then i Allowed it & after that there is no issue.i am not getting what is the problem,is anything blocking the FMS.Even I am not able to start/see the control panel of FMS (Flash media server). I am guessing it is a port problem,Is it or any firewall issue?Please Suggest.

  I was recently installing Microsoft Windows SDK for Windows 7 and .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 to create my build server on a VM (Windows 2003 R2 Std), I was wondering that it would be nice to specify the temporary folder for the files being extracted by MSI for use during the installation. This should ideally work for any MSIs. I have some more virtual hard disks I have attached to this VMs, to point the temporary folder for MSI to one of these virtual hard disks would be quite productive since I can remove/discard this virtual hard disk later. Compacting the C drive VHD is a pain, and does not always reclaim space correctly. I tried changing the %temp% and tmp environment variable with no effect?   I have an somewhat older Notebook with an original Windows XP Professional License Sticker underneath. This Notebook was erased completely once and now I want to install a new Windows XP Professional System on it using the key that's on the sticker. But there seems to be one problem: I am using an Windows XP Professional SP3 image I got from my university (thanks to MSDNAA). But somehow I cannot use the license key on the sticker with this installation. It keeps saying that this key is invalid. What can I do? Is this because I try to install a Win XP Professional with SP3 directly? Do I need another image to install this?

• HP Printer scrolls "printing" forever - but nothing happens

  I got a used HP Officejet 7130 all-in-one printer. I tried printing a text document, and it shows up in the queue (and says "printing"), and the printer display says "Printing" "Press Cancel to cancel job." - and it cyles that text forever, but nothing ever happens (after a couple of initial quiet noises.) I tried to print a test page from the printer, and I get the same "printing" message. I checked the hp website, and this problem is not on their list. (They are expecting a queue problem, error message, etc.) I did initially get a message that it needs new ink cartridges, but I pressed to get past that. It's supposed to try to print anyway. I don't want to buy ink cartridges for a printer that is broken. When I press it cancels correctly.

  I've seen threads on similar topics - such as this one - but the answers never seem to solve how to make it bootable. I have Win 7 64-bit on a PC installed on a 2tb MBR volume. The motherboard is UEFI compatible. I just installed a secondary internal 3TB drive which will be partitioned as GPT. Is there a relatively easy way to clone my installation over to the new drive and have that drive be bootable? I have used EaseUS Partition Master to clone the C volume to the D volume, but that would not boot and I assume the issue is that one is MBR and one is GPT. Is there a process to do this?

However, if I use my laptop through my company network, I can load the page bbc.co.uk normally. Then, I though maybe my ADSL at home blocks that web address. However, I tried another laptop with my home ADSL and it can load the page bbc.co.uk very fast. Now I do not know what could be the problem. Can anyone tell me please? Thank you.

Is there any way that i can install even python 2.7 , mod_wsgi etc and all that inside the virtual environment folder so that i can just copy paste that folder in my live server and i don't need to mess with mos_wsgi , python 2.7 and other issues.   I have downloaded Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS 32 bit, burned it on DVD and tried to install it on my PC. My PC is running in Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit mounted on the C: drive. Now I want install Ubuntu along with my Windows 7. When I boot Ubuntu through the CD, It boots and the Ubuntu install windows opens It offers "Try Ubuntu" and "Install Ubuntu". I choose "Install Ubuntu" Then I go on to install Ubuntu with Windows(First Option)-install It shows some blank screen with some lines, and says "Please Remove installation media and close tray and press enter" Then the PC restarts and runs Windows 7 same as before normally. But Ubuntu is not installed. How to solve this problem and install Ubuntu on my PC properly? Note: I am an Android Developer. So I need to install Ubuntu for my Android Development purpose.

  Just now installed whm/cpanel, created some accounts, created mail account in one of them and entered squirrelmail to check the mail. • Adding Ubuntu installation to VIsta boot loader

  Hi, I had a Vista partition and created a partition and installed Ubuntu 9.10. During the Ubuntu installation I unchecked "Install Boot Loader" so it didn't install the GRUB bootloader. I wanted to keep Vistas boot loader so I could manage it within Vista as I know you can - Ive just forgot where in the Control Panel you do it! Anyway for some reason I incorrectly assumed that the Ubuntu entry would be added to the Vista boot loader. How do enable to choose which OS to use during booting up the computer as at the moment it just automatically loads Vista? Apologies if I'm technically incorrect - what I explained is what I thought was going on!! Thanks.

  So I'm trying to run remote desktop on my laptop to connect to my home desktop. I have a problem where this works fine if I connect my laptop with an ethernet cable, but fails when I try to use wireless internet access (which works fine for normal internet surfing). I've experienced this problem at home with my wireless router, and at work with the wireless network they have there, so I'm inclined to believe that its a setting local to my machine rather than the router blocking the requests... but I'm not sure where to look. Any suggestions?

• MacBook: Can't boot into Linux partition after installation.

  Hello I just installed Ubuntu. I created a partition in MacOSx using Disk utility, then deleted the partition and installed Ubuntu on the free space created. After the installation, Ubuntu said it would reboot. I hang on shutdown (which is normal, as google told me), so I used the power button to turn the MacBook off. Now I want to boot into Ubuntu. Pressing option/alt on startup only shows me the MacOSx and Windows partition. Also, the Linux partition isn't showing up on my MacOSx desktop. And in Disk Utility, I can see 3 grayed out partitions: "disk0s4", "disk0s5" and "Linux Swap". What can I do to boot into Ubuntu without losing my other partitions? Thank you for your help.

• Unable to create system partition or locate existing system partition during Windows-7 installation

  I have Windows XP 32-bit installed on an ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe with 2x 500gb drives in RAID1 using the NV RAID controller. On this there are 3 partitions (XP, XP backup and DATA) There are also 4x 500gb drives in RAID10 using the Silicon Image 3114R RAID controller. I just purchased a Windows 7 64-bit as an ISO download upgrade version which I promptly burned to DVD and attempted to perform an upgrade installation. Here is the error message I am getting: Firstly, where are these "Setup log files" located? Second, does this mean I need to find compatible (64-bit?) drivers for the Mainboard and put them on floppy? EDIT: As suggested on another forum, I tried downloading the nVidia Mainboard RAID drivers for Windows 2003 64-bit. I loaded the drivers successfully using the Load Driver button, but pressing NEXT still returns this error.

  I am trying to automate an Ubuntu (12.04.1 64bit) installation using ubiquity & preseed on a desktop live cd. It almost works fine. I edited the txt.cfg and added label unattended menu label ^Unattended installation kernel /casper/vmlinuz append file=/cdrom/preseed/custom.seed boot=casper initrd=/casper/initrd.lz quiet splash noprompt -- This is my custom.seed file The problem is that the installer shows the keyboard layout chooser and I have to click next. The correct language & keyboard layout (german) are already preselected. What am I missing, or what's wrong in my custom.seed file, to automate the next click?

• What could explain my partitions disappearing on a new SSD with Windows 7?

  So this morning, I had a fresh install of Windows 7 pro, on a new SSD (Patriot TorqX 128gb), which I just put in to a new Dell Studio XPS 9000. Everything was fine. I booted to windows, no problem. I go to work. 8 hours later, I come home, and I'm greeted by my boot screen complaining about no bootable devices. Windows repair from the Windows 7 pro disk says it can't fix the problem. It doesn't see any windows installs. I boot up GParted, and my SSD is completely unallocated. No space used, no partitions. Perhaps this is related to allowing windows 7 to create a utility partition when I installed? Only thing I can think of. Is there some kind of known hardware issue that can result in an SSD completely wiping itself?

• Computer Flashes Out?

  We have a strange problem with our computers at my school. They are all Latitude 2100 Netbooks. At random points (I can't seem to find a pattern) the screen will turn a single color (red, green, black, brown, etc.) To fix this, the computer must be put to sleep, and brought back up. They have integrated graphics, but I can't imagine that if it was a bug with the computer itself, that every single computer would do this. Is there any way I could find out the problem that's causing this. Some diagnostic tool? Thanks. Edit: Forgot, they all have windows.
