• Outgoing Emails (Git Patches) Blocked by Windows Live

  Just recently I dove into the VideoLAN open source project. This was my first time using git, and when sending in my first patch (using git send-email --to [email protected] patches), I was sent the following message from my computer's local mail in the terminal (I'm on OSX 10.6 by the way): Mail rejected by Windows Live Hotmail for policy reasons. We generally do not accept email from dynamic IP's as they are not typically used to deliver unauthenticated SMTP e-mail to an Internet mail server. http:/www.spamhaus.org maintains lists of dynamic and residential IP addresses. If you are not an email/network admin please contact your E-mail/Internet Service Provider for help. Email/network admins, please visit http://postmaster.live.com for email delivery information and support They must think I'm a spammer. I have a dynamic IP and my ISP (Charter) won't let me get a static one, so I tried editing git preferences: git config --global user.email "[email protected]" to my gmail account. However I got the exact same message again. My guess is that it has something to do with the native mail's preferences, but I have no idea how to access them or modify them. Anybody have any ideas for solving this? Thanks!

• iframe created dynamically with javascript not reloading parent URL

  I can't seem to reload the parent page from within an iframe even though the domain for my iframe and the parent page appear to be the same. The IFRAME was created dynamically, rather than in the HTML page source, so could that be the problem? The iframe I'm working with is here http://www.avaline.com/ R3000_3 once you log in. You may use user:[email protected] pass: test03 Once logged in, hit the "order sample" button, and then hit "here" where it says "Your Third Party Shipper Numbers (To enter one, click here.)". I tried using javascript statements window.top.location.reload(),window.parent.location.reload(),window.parent.location.href=window.parent.location.href but none of those worked in FF 3.6 so I didn't move on to the other browsers although I am shooting for a cross-browser solution. I put the one-line javascript statements inside setTimeout("statement",2000) so people could read the content of the iframe before the redirect happens, but that shouldn't affect the execution of the statements... I wish I could test and debug the statements with the Firebug console from within the Iframe.

• Django Interrupted system call when sending email

  Hi, Sometimes, when submitting a form (pretty much any form on my site that sends me an email), I get the following error: File "/usr/lib/python2.5/smtplib.py", line 603, in starttls (resp, reply) = self.docmd("STARTTLS") File "/usr/lib/python2.5/smtplib.py", line 378, in docmd return self.getreply() File "/usr/lib/python2.5/smtplib.py", line 352, in getreply line = self.file.readline() File "/usr/lib/python2.5/socket.py", line 381, in readline data = self._sock.recv(self._rbufsize) error: (4, 'Interrupted system call') My code is sending email via gmail. I am also using django contact-form which does the same thing. The problem doesn't always happen. It seems very random. At one point today it got so bad that it displayed the error every time I submitted a form. Restarting apache fixes the problem for one submission and then it does it again. I have checked the RAM and there is plenty available (about 350MB available). Can someone lead me in the right direction? What does this error mean? What can I do to prevent this. Thanks.

  I have a contact manager program and I would like to offer the feature to import csv files. The problem is that different data sources order the fields in different ways. I thought of programming an interface for the user to tell it the field order and how to handle exceptions. Here is an example line in one of many possible field orders: "ID#","Name","Rank","Address1","Address2","City","State","Country","Zip","Phone#","Email","Join Date","Sponsor ID","Sponsor Name" "Z1234","Call, Anson","STU","1234 E. 6578 S.","","Somecity","TX","United States","012345","000-000-0000","[email protected]","5/24/2010","z12343","Quantum Independence" Notice that in one data field "Name" there is a comma to separate last name and first name and in another there is not. My plan is to have a line for each field (ie ID, Name, City etc.) and a statement "import to" and list box with options like: Don't Import, BusinessJoin Date, First Name, Zip and the program recognizes those as properties of an object... I'd also like the user to be able to record preset field orders so they can re-use them for csv files from the same download source. Then I also need it to check if a record all ready exists (is there a record for Anson Call all ready?) and allow the user to tell it what to do if there is a record (ie mailing address may have changes, so if that field is filled overwrite it, or this mailing address is invalid, leave the current data untouched for this person, overwrite the rest). While I'm capable of coding this...i'm not very excited about it and I'm wondering if there's a tool or set of tools out there to all ready perform most of this functionality... I hope this makes sense...

  Hi, I'm trying to send emails through localhost (XAMPP Windows 1.7.3 installation), but I've been trying for hours with no success. • Best practice- How to team-split a django project while still allowing code reusal

  I know this sounds kind of vague, but please let me explain- I'm starting work on a brand new project, it will have two main components: "ACME PRODUCT" (think Gmail, Meebo, etc), and "THE SITE" (help, information, marketing stuff, promotional landing pages, etc lots of marketing-induced cruft). So basically the url /acme/* will load stuff in the uber cool ajaxy application, and every other URI will load stuff in the other site. Problem: "THE SITE" component is out of my hands, and will be handled by a consultants team that will work closely with marketing, And I and my team will work solely on the ACME PRODUCT. Question: How to set up the django project in such a way that we can have: Seperate releases. (They can push new marketing pages and functionality without having to worry about the state of our code. Maybe even separate Subversion "projects") Minimize impact (on our product) of whatever flying-unicorns-hocus-pocus the other team codes into the site. Still allow some code reusal. My main concern is that the ACME product needs to be rock solid, and therefore needs to be somewhat isolated of whatever mistakes/code bloopers the consultants make in their marketing side of the site. How have you handled this? Any ideas? Thanks!

I'll also add that I've seen other mails in those clients that are working fine, so they are supporting html mails. What am I doing wrong?

• How do I import facebook friends from another website

  I am looking for a way to connect to facebook by allowing the user to enter in their username and password and have our app connect to their account and get their contacts so that they can invite them to join their group on our site. I have written a facebook app before, but this is not an app as much as it is a connector so that they can invite all their friends or just some to the site we are working on. I have seen several other sites do this and also connect to Yahoo, Gmail and Hotmail contacts. I dont think they are using Facebook Connect to do this since it is so new, but they may be. Any solution in any language is fine as I can port whatever example to use C#. I cannot find anything specifically on Google or Facebook to address this specific problem. Any help is appreciated. I saw a first answer get removed that had suggested i might need to scrape the friends page. The more I look around, this might be what i need to do. Any other way i think will require the person to add it as an app. I am wondering how a answer can get removed, maybe that user deleted it.

• Sending Email to a specific address without requiring user to specify their mail server details

  Can anyone recommend a simple and reliable method of sending email notifications and possibly log files attachments from a C# program without requiring the installer or the user to configure the program by specifying server details and email addresses etc. (Mainly because they won't know the details, but also because they could change) The program will normally be run as a service of a Windows Server, but can be run on a client. I tried connecting to our own mail server and sending a email to myself, but some ISP's are blocking Port 25 on all servers but their own, so that method isn't working reliably. Tried sending email through gmail but that was less successful as the port they used was blocked by firewalls. Ditto webservices connecting on weird ports. Trying to use the local smptservice but did not work either. It would be nice, but not essential if it was not dependant on my own Internet connection/Servers. (Don't mind them being delayed, but prefer them not to get lost). Are there any webservices on http/https that allow you to do this sort of thing? TIA

• Mechanize form submit not going to the correct response page, no errors as to why. Something I'm doing?

  I threw this all in one controller for testing purposes. My code fills out the form correctly for adding a new address to your Amazon account. There are two buttons that submit this form, one takes you to add a new address which is what I don't want, and the other is just a Save & Continue input/image. When I submit the form via that button, as I do below, the form is still on the page, filled out as I have with my code. Inspecting the page titles, they're the same. There are no discernible errors that Mechanize or Amazon spit back. • HTML5 Drag and Drop styles not displaying on Windows Server 2003

  I'm working on a file upload utility based on Valum's Ajax-Uploader. The idea is similar to the Gmail attachment process. The user should be able to drag a file from the desktop into the browser window and onto the file upload area to get it to upload. This works fine in the browsers that support this functionality (Firefox 3.6+, Chrome 7+). The problem I'm running into are the styles that should be re-drawn when the user: Drags the file anywhere in the browser Drags the file into the upload area I have tested in the exact same browser versions on WinXP, Vista, and Win7. The appropriate styles are redrawn. However, in Windows Server 2003, they do not. In Win2003, when I inspect the div that should be redrawn via Firebug, the "drop-area" and "drop-area-active" classes are applied correctly. Firebug even shows the correct style declarations, but the changes are never visible. The only difference between FF and Chrome that I'm able to spot is that in Chrome, the "drop-area-active" style is displayed for a split second when the user drops the file. I'm not positive that it is a Windows2003 issue, but that's the only OS in which I'm able to recreate the bug.

• Ways to prevent multiple email notification with php&mysql

  My 1st post, but i got many great answers and tips from stackoverflow so far. This one was a close call- How does facebook, gmail send the real time notification? but not exactly, so let brainstorm this together. I have CMS system with mail notification when a change is made on the site. Everything wotk very well but i want to prevent multiple notification if somene make another quick change to, let say, fix a typo. Using php mail(), obviously. I've tough of 2 ways, one simple, and one.... let just say, pretty heavy... cough. the 3rd one was inspired by Implementing Email Notification but really doesn't look appealing to me to send bunch of email at once. Use a timestamp to check if another change was made in the 'let say' last 5 minutes. Record the last change, and compare it to the new one. Could be usefull for backup at the same time since i'll have to save the change somewhere, but text can be long and making an sql search would be painfull. Wouldn't it? Use cron to send changes every x minutes... convince me if you ythink it is a suitable solution. Any ideas, comment or suggestion of your own?   Is it possible to write C# code as below and send email using my home network? I have a valid user name and password on that exchange server. Is there any configuration that I can set to achieve this? BTW this code blow works when I run it within office network. I want this code to work when run from any network. • postfix cannot getting my domain name?

  Hi I'm trying to setup webmin+postfix+dovecot+roundcube, for this moment I want things be as simple as possible so I'm using linux users as email accounts. I can send/receive from the same domain, I mean [email protected] can send/receive to/from [email protected] I tested smtp/imap with outlook and says no problem. if I send a mail from gmail it reject with error of: Technical details of temporary failure: The recipient server did not accept our requests to connect. when I login with roundcube the email address display in the right corner is something like user1@com and I get this error message from logs: [11-Nov-2012 07:39:03 +0400]: IMAP Error: Login failed for user1 from 187.150.xx.xx. Could not connect to com:143: php_network_getaddresses: getaddrinfo failed: Name or service not known in /var/www/webmail/program/include/rcube_imap.php on line 191 (POST /webmail/?_task=login&_action=login) it says Could not connect to com:143 looks like it cannot read the domain name. I used http://mxtoolbox.com/ to check the mx record and it says it can find the server of mail.mydomain.com. • SMTP authentication error using PHPMailer

  I am using PHPMailer to send a basic form to an email address but I get the following error: SMTP Error: Could not authenticate. Message could not be sent. Mailer Error: SMTP Error: Could not authenticate. SMTP server error: VXNlcm5hbWU6 The weird thing is that if I try to send it again, IT WORKS! Every time I submit the form after that first error it works. But if I leave it for a few minutes and then try again I get the same error again. The username and password have to be right as sometimes it works fine. Any idea why this is happening? Thanks! ***UPDATED 02/06/2012 I've been doing some tests. The results: I tested the script in an IIS server and it worked fine. The error seems to happen only in the Linux server. Also, if I use the gmail mail server it works fine in both, IIS and Linux. Could it be a problem with the configuration of my Linux server??
