  • How to use mount points in MilkShape models?

    I have bought the Warriors & Commoners model pack from Frogames and the pack contains (among other formats) two animated models and several non-animated objects (axe, shield, pilosities, etc.) in MilkShape3D format. I looked at the official "MilkShape 3D Viewer v2.0" (msViewer2.zip at http://www.chumba.ch/chumbalum-soft/ms3d/download.html) source code and implemented loading the model, calculating the joint matrices and everything looks fine. In the model there are several joints that are designated as the "mount points" for the static objects like axe and shield. I now want to "put" the axe into the hand of the animated model, and I couldn't quite figure out how. I put the animated vertices in a VBO that gets updated every frame (I know I should do this with a shader, but I didn't have time to do this yet). I put the static vertices in another VBO that I want to keep static and not updated every frame. I now tried to render the animated vertices first, then use the joint matrix for the "mount joint" to calculate the location of the static object. I tried many things, and what about seems to be right is to transpose the joint matrix, then use glMatrixMult() to transform the modelview matrix. For some objects like the axe this is working, but not for others, e.g. the pilosities. Now my question: How is this generally implemented when using bone/joint models, and especially with MilkShape3D models? Am I on the right track?

    Hi at all, I'm having a issue trying to get working a JPA nativeQuery. I'm having a org.hibernate.MappingException: No Dialect mapping for JDBC type: 2002 when a try to do a nativeQuery and get a geometry field type. I use oracle and org.hibernatespatial.oracle.OracleSpatial10gDialect.   • Installing flex on Mac Parallels

    Hello folks, I am trying to install Flex 3 on my Windows 7 Virtual machine (parallels desktop) on my Mac Pro. The problem seems to be some sort of conflict between the copy of Flex 3 Builder installed on Mac OS X. The installer tries to install Flex in x:/Program Files/Adobe/Flex Builder 3/ but since Parallels Desktop connects all directories, there resides the Flex Builder 3 installation of MAC.   • Having problems building Cairo on x64 CentOS

    I've done this many times on 32 bit CentOS and everything went ok without a hitch. But now, on x64 CentOS, I can't get cairo to find pixman. Pixman 0.18.0 is installed in /usr/local/lib (which I believe is the usual location). Configure for Cairo 1.8.10 can't find it: checking for cairo's image surface backend feature... checking for pixman... no no checking whether cairo's image surface backend feature could be enabled... no (requires pixman-1 >= 0.12.0 http://cairographics.org/releases/) configure: error: mandatory image surface backend feature could not be enabled I've tried setting environment variable pixman_LIBS=/usr/local/lib but wihtout any luck. Any idea what is going wrong? Is it possible for me to see where is cairo's configure looking for pixman? Search paths or something like that?

    I have a query that runs in less than 1 ms: SELECT product_to_value.category AS category, features.name AS featurename, featurevalues.name AS valuename FROM product_to_value, features, featurevalues WHERE product_to_value.category IN(:int, :bla, :bla1) AND product_to_value.feature = features.int AND product_to_value.value = featurevalues.int LIMIT 10 However, when I combine it with another query using INTERSECT, the query now takes more than 250ms: SELECT product_to_value.category AS category, features.name AS featurename, featurevalues.name AS valuename FROM product_to_value, features, featurevalues WHERE product_to_value.category IN(:int, :bla, :bla1) AND product_to_value.feature = features.int AND product_to_value.value = featurevalues.int INTERSECT SELECT product_to_value.category AS category, features.name AS featurename, featurevalues.name AS valuename FROM product_to_value, features, featurevalues WHERE product_to_value.category IN(:int, :bla, :bla1) AND product_to_value.feature = features.int AND product_to_value.value = featurevalues.int LIMIT 10 This can't be right. I've tried several index combinations, for example an index on all columns I use in my query, but to no avail. I've tried compound indexes as well, but they only slow things down even more. I have read a few things about SQLite and how it treats indexes. I know SQLite is capable of delivering sick performance, and surely I must be overlooking something.

    Hello, Say I have 50 million features, each feature comes from disk. At the beggining of my program, I handle each feature and depending on some conditions, I apply some modifications to some. A this point in my program, I am reading a feature from disk, processing it, and writing it back, because well I don't have enough ram to open all 50 million features at once. Now say I want to sort these 50 million features, is there any optimal algorithm to do this as I can't load everyone at the same time? Like a partial sorting algorithm or something like that?

  • Code reviews for larger MVC.NET team using TFS

    I'm trying to find a good code review workflow for my team. Most questions similar to this on SO revolve around using shelved changes for the review, however I'm curious about how this works for people with larger teams. We usually have 2-3 people working a story (UI person, Domain/Repository person, sometimes DB person). I've recommended the shelf idea but we're all concerned about how to manage that with multiple people working the same feature. How could you share a shelf between multiple programmers at that point? We worry it would be clunky and we might easily have unintended consequences moving to this workflow. Of course moving to shelfs for each feature avoids having 10 or so checkins per feature (as developers need to share code) making seeing the diffs at code review time painful. Has anyone else been able to successfully deal with this? Are there any tools out there people have found useful aside from shelfs in TFS (preferably open-source)?

    I added the authlogic_facebook_connect plugin to my project and I'm now having problem running my cucumber test because of a NoMethodError. undefined method `set_facebook_session' for nil:NilClass (NoMethodError) In authlogic_facebook_connect/Session.rb the method "authenticating_with_facebook_connect?" is called as some sort of callback and the controller is defined but is missing the 'set_facebook_session' method. def authenticating_with_facebook_connect? controller.set_facebook_session attempted_record.nil? && errors.empty? && controller.facebook_session end I don't understand why the cucumber test is not loading the controller with this method. I also test the app in development and cucumber environments and everything works perfect. Here is the full cucumber output.     I have just installed the lastest RC of VS2010, which for me represents a shift from VS2008. A new comment formatting feature that I was looking forward to appears to be missing. About 6 months ago I read a Scott Gu blog post that mentioned a new VS2010 feature that would format /// style method comment blocks into more readable formatted regions inline with other code. The Scott Gu blog did not provide a screen shot but I was expecting the VS2010 editor to remove the XML tags from the /// method comment block and render just the essential text comment. Was this feature pulled during the Beta, or is there an option switch urking somewhere?

  • Is it possible to drag windows between workspaces when using Compiz?

    When I used Metacity, I could drag windows between workspaces using the small icon view of my workspaces. I recently started using Compiz for all the cool desktop effects, however this drag and drop feature isn't working. I use the cube effect for switching workspaces, but I noticed the wall effect doesn't allow it either. Is this just a missing feature from Compiz or is there a setting somewhere that I can enable it? I know that I can enable dragging windows across edges to the next workspace, and the expose feature to drag windows between workspaces. However, the drag and drop on the icon view is really powerful, and I would love to have it back along with all the great Compiz special effects.

    I am aware of this question, but not to sure how to map it to my current situation. (Rebase is scary, undoing rebase is double scary!) I started out with several different feature branches of my master: master x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x \ \ \ FeatureA 1-2-3 \ \ FeatureB A-B \ FeatureC X-Y-Z I wanted to merge them all together and check they worked before merging back onto the top of master, so I did a: git checkout FeatureB git rebase FeatureA git mergetool //etc git rebase --continue Then git checkout FeatureC git rebase FeatureB git mergetool //hack hack git rebase --continue Which leaves me with master x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x \ FeatureA 1-2-3 \ FeatureB A'-B' \ FeatureC X'-Y'-Z' Then I corrected some bits that didn't compile properly, and got the whole feature set to an acceptable state: master x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x \ FeatureA 1-2-3 \ FeatureB A'-B' \ FeatureC X'-Y'-Z'-W My problem is that my colleagues tell me that we're not ready for FeatureA. Is there any way for me to keep all my work, but also revert to a situation where I can just rebase FeatureC on to Feature B?

  • Explaining training method for AdaBoost algorithm

    Hi, I'm trying to understand the Haar feature method used for the training step in the AdaBoost algorithm. I don't understand the math that well so I'd appreciate more of a conceptual answer (as much as possible, anyway). Basically, what does it do? How do you choose positive and negative sets for what you want to select? Can it be generalized? What I mean by that is, can you choose it to find any kind of feature that you want no matter what the background is? So, for example, if I want to find some kind of circular blob - can I do that? I've also read that it is used on small patches for the images around the possible feature - does that mean you have to manually select that image patch or can it be automated to process the entire image? Is there matlab code for the training step? Thanks for any help...

However he only demonstrates how to use the feature with the ScriptManager on the same page. I'd like to use this feature on a site where the scriptmanager is on the master page but can't figure out how to add the scripts I need for each page programmatically to the manager.     Hi all, I've installed HTTP Activation and Non-HTTP Activation IIS's features for Framework.NET 3.0 under WCF Activation feature. I'm trying to remove http and https bindings (under default Web Site) from IIS Manager and leave others (net.tcp, net.msmq, etc.) but if I close and re-open IIS manager I not found any icons in the right panel (Feature View). The only feature I see is IIS Manager Permissions. It's right I don't see them? I hope you can help me. Thank you in advance!

    Hello all, Wer'e developing an ASP.NET C# application, which will contain an authentication system that authenticates users in multiple levels (user, admin, super-admin, etc.). Our idea is NOT to use the built in ASP.NET forms authentication feature. Our plan is to create a whole 'new' system for it- based on the Session object, and SQL database contains users' info such as username & password. Is there any SERIOUS different between our idea to the Forms authentication feature? What security risks do we take? How do we solve them?
