• how to solve nested list programs [closed]

    - by riya
write a function to get most popular car that accepts a car detail as input and returns the most popular car name along with its average rating .Each element of car details list is a sublist that provides the below information about a car (a)name of a car(b)car price (c) list of ratings obtained by car from various agencies.Incase two cars have the same average rating then the car with the lesser price qualifies as most popular car? here's my solution-: (define-struct cardetails ("name" price list of '(ratings)) (define car1 (make-cardetails "toyota" 123 '( 1 2 3))) (define car2 (make-cardetails "santro" 321 '( 2 2 3))) (define car3 (make-cardetails "toyota" 100 '( 1 2 3))) (define cardetailslist(list(car1) (car2)(car 3))) (let loop ((count 0)) (let (len (length cardetailslist)) (if(< count len) (string-ref (string-ref n)0) now please tell me how to find maximum average and display car name.it's not a homework question tomorrow is my test and we have not been taught this concept in class although it is very important from test point of view

  • Core Data data type for just the date - not including time

    - by Jason
I am new at Core Data, and it seems like it is a great way to manage the data store. However I am also very memory-conscious due to the fact that the iPhone doesn't have that much of it. I was a little surprised to see that the data types are so limited - eg. there is a Date type which includes also the time, but no Date type for just the date! All the time information takes up precious bytes of memory, if I just wanted an attribute with the date (e.g. 2/15/2010 rather than 2/15/2010 02:34:48), how could I do this? Is it possible?

  • Little CSS problem with Auto height and nested div's

    - by GeekDrop.com
So I'm finally learning my way around CSS more and have run into a small problem. I have a container div, with a few divs inside of it, one of them is a bit if text (which can be a random height) and an image that will have a MAX height of 200px. I am using a dotted/colored background behind them that needs to auto expand to the height of whichever is the tallest, either the text or the image. Right now when i use height:auto on the container div it works perfect for the random height text: Example Screenshot But it's only adjusting according to the text's height; if the image is taller than the text, the image overflows the bottom of the background dotted/colored box. Example Screenshot The CSS I'm using currently is this: h1 div#like_detailed { margin: 0; font-size: 1.1em; width: 700px; } #details-image img { border: none; clear: left; float: right; margin: -45px 0 0 0; max-height: 200px; padding: 0 7px 0 10px; } #deets-container { background-color: #FEF; border: #190AE7 1px dotted; height: auto; margin-top: 0; margin-bottom: 30px; padding-top: 10px; padding-right: 10px; padding-left: 10px; padding-bottom: 0; } And the HTML for it is this:

(some code)

(some code)

(some code)

(some code) (some code)

(some code)

(some code)

I have a feeling this is pretty easy but I'm running out of time to sort it out on my own. Anyone?

  • error: polymorphic expression with default arguments

    - by 0__
This following bugs me: trait Foo[ A ] class Bar[ A ]( set: Set[ Foo[ A ]] = Set.empty ) This yields <console>:8: error: polymorphic expression cannot be instantiated to expected type; found : [A]scala.collection.immutable.Set[A] required: Set[Foo[?]] class Bar[ A ]( set: Set[ Foo[ A ]] = Set.empty ) ^ It is quite annoying that I have to repeat the type parameter in Set.empty. Why does the type inference fail with this default argument? The following works: class Bar[ A ]( set: Set[ Foo[ A ]] = { Set.empty: Set[ Foo[ A ]]}) Please note that this has nothing to do with Set in particular: case class Hallo[ A ]() class Bar[ A ]( hallo: Hallo[ A ] = Hallo.apply ) // nope Strangely not only this works: class Bar[ A ]( hallo: Hallo[ A ] = Hallo.apply[ A ]) ...but also this: class Bar[ A ]( hallo: Hallo[ A ] = Hallo() ) // ???

  • Unknown attribute xsi:type in XmlSerializer

    - by vanccoon
I am learning XML Serialization and meet an issue, I have two claess [System.Xml.Serialization.XmlInclude(typeof(SubClass))] public class BaseClass { } public class SubClass : BaseClass { } I am trying to serialize a SubClass object into XML file, I use blow code XmlSerializer xs = new XmlSerializer(typeof(Base)); xs.Serialize(fs, SubClassObject); I noticed Serialization succeed, but the XML file is kind of like ... If I use XmlSerializer xs = new XmlSerializer(typeof(Base)); SubClassObject = xs.Deserialize(fs) as SubClass; I noticed it will complain xsi:type is unknown attribute(I registered an event), although all information embedded in the XML was parsed successfully and members in SubClassObject was restored correctly. Anyone has any idea why there is error in parsing xsi:type and anything I did wrong? Thanks

  • Constructor type not found

    - by WaffleTop
Hello, What I am doing: I am taking the Microsoft Enterprise Library 4.1 and attempting to expand upon it using a few derived classes. I have created a MyLogEntry, MyFormatter, and MyTraceListener which derive from their respective base classes when you remove the "My" from their names. What my problem is: Everything compiles fine. When I go to run a test using Logger.Write(logEntry) it errors right after it initializes MyTraceListener with an error message: "The current build operation (... EnterpriseLibrary.Logging.LogWriter, null]) failed: Constructor on type 'MyLogging.MyFormatter' not found. (Strategy type ConfiguredObjectStrategy, index 2) I figured it was something to do with the constructor so I tried removing it, add it, and adding a call to the base class LogFormatter. Nothing has worked. Does anyone have insight into this problem? Is it maybe a reference issue? Bad App.config configuration? Thank you in advance

  • better way of handling nested list

    - by laspal
    Hi, I have list my_list = [ [1,2,3,4,5,6], [1,3,4],[34,56,56,56]] for item in my_list: var1,var2,var3,var4,var5,var6 = None if len(item) ==1: var1 = item[0] if len(item) == 2: var1 = item[0] var2 = item[1] if len(item) == 3: var1 = item[0] var2 = item[1] var3 = item[2] if len(item) == 4: var1 = item[0] var2 = item[1] var3 = item[2] var4 = item[3] fun(var1,var2,var3,var4,var5,var6) I have a function def fun(var1, var2 = None, var3 = None, var4 = None, var5=None, var6= None) Depending upon the values in my inner list. I am passing it to function. I hope I made it clear. Thanks

  • Getting field of type bytea in helper table when using GenerationType.IDENTITY

    - by dtrunk
    I'm creating my db scheme using Hibernate. There's a Table called "tbl_articles" and another one called "tbl_categories". To have a n-n relationship a helper table ("tbl_articles_categories") is needed. Here are all necessary Entities: @Entity @Table( name = "tbl_articles" ) public class Article implements Serializable { private static final long serialVersionUID = 1L; @Id @Column( nullable = false ) @GeneratedValue( strategy = GenerationType.IDENTITY ) private Integer id; // other fields... public Integer getId() { return id; } public void setId( Integer id ) { this.id = id; } // other fields... } @Entity @Table( name = "tbl_categories" ) public class Category implements Serializable { private static final long serialVersionUID = 1L; @Id @Column( nullable = false ) @GeneratedValue( strategy = GenerationType.IDENTITY ) private Integer id; // other fields public Integer getId() { return id; } public void setId( Integer id ) { this.id = id; } // other fields... } @Entity @Table( name = "tbl_articles_categories" ) @AssociationOverrides({ @AssociationOverride( name = "pk.article", joinColumns = @JoinColumn( name = "article_id" ) ), @AssociationOverride( name = "pk.category", joinColumns = @JoinColumn( name = "category_id" ) ) }) public class ArticleCategory { private ArticleCategoryPK pk = new ArticleCategoryPK(); public void setPk( ArticleCategoryPK pk ) { this.pk = pk; } @EmbeddedId public ArticleCategoryPK getPk() { return pk; } @Transient public Article getArticle() { return pk.getArticle(); } public void setArticle( Article article ) { pk.setArticle( article ); } @Transient public Category getCategory() { return pk.getCategory(); } public void setCategory( Category category ) { pk.setCategory( category ); } } @Embeddable public class ArticleCategoryPK implements Serializable { private static final long serialVersionUID = 1L; @ManyToOne @ForeignKey( name = "tbl_articles_categories_fkey_article_id" ) private Article article; @ManyToOne @ForeignKey( name = "tbl_articles_categories_fkey_category_id" ) private Category category; public ArticleCategoryPK( Article article, Category category ) { setArticle( article ); setCategory( category ); } public ArticleCategoryPK() { } public Article getArticle() { return article; } public void setArticle( Article article ) { this.article = article; } public Category getCategory() { return category; } public void setCategory( Category category ) { this.category = category; } } Now, I'm getting a serial type what I wanted in my articles table as well as in my categories table. But looking into my helper table, there aren't the expected fields article_id and category_id each of type integer - instead there are article and category of type bytea. What's wrong here? EDIT: Sorry, forgot to mention that I'm using PostgreSQL.

  • Ruby on Rails: restrict file type with Paperclip using a flash uploader

    - by aperture
I have a pretty basic Paperclip Upload model that is attached to a User model through has_many, and am using Uploadify to do the actual uploading. Flash sends all files with the content type of "application/octet-stream" so using validates_attachment_content_type rejects all files. In my create action, I am able to get the mime-type from the original file name, but only after it's been saved, with: def coerce(params) h = Hash.new h[:upload] = Hash.new h[:upload][:attachment].content_type = MIME::Types.type_for(h[:upload][:attachment].original_filename).to_s ... end and def create diff_params = coerce(params) @upload = Upload.new(diff_params[:upload]) ... end What would be the best way of white listing file types? I am thinking a before_validation method, but I'm not sure how that would work. Any ideas would be welcome.

  • determine which value produced a hit in SOLR multivalued field type

    - by harschware
If I have a multiValued field type of text, and I put values [cat, dog, green, blue] in it. Is there a way to tell when I execute a query against that field for dog, that it was in the 1st element position for that multiValued field? Assumption: client does not have any pre-knowledge of what the field type of the field being queried is. (i.e. Solr must provide the answer and the client can't post process the return doc to figure it out because it would not know how SOLR matched the query to the result). Disclosure: I posted to solr-user list and am getting no traction so I post here now.

  • Nested Data XML design

    - by esryl
Looking to nest (to unlimited levels) elements in XML. Like so: <items>

</items> However. While browsing for a solution I noticed in the comments of: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/988139/weird-nesting-in-xml while the above is well formed it would not validate against any sinsible DTD. Two things, what is a better way of nesting similar elements, and secondly what would be the design of the DTD. UPDATE: Would prefer to validate against an XML Schema rather than DTD.

  • Closure and nested lambdas in C++0x

  • ASP.NET request extension type

    - by Krishna
Hello, I am working on a large web application which I have recently shelved tons of .aspx pages from the project. To avoid page not found error, I added these entities in the xml which came around 300+ in count. I wrote a http module that checks the request url in the xml entities and if they are found, my module is going to redirect the request to respective new pages. Everything works great, but my collection is getting iterated for all the requests, I mean for each and every .jpg, .css, .js, .ico, .pdf etc. Is there any object or property in .net that can tell the type of request that user requested for like HttpContext.request.type. So that I can avoid checking the request for all unwanted file types.

  • Best approach to limit users to a single node of a given content type in Drupal

    - by Chaulky
I need to limit users to a single node of a given content type. So a user can only create one node of TypeX. I've come up with two approaches. Which would be better to use... 1) Edit the node/add/typex menu item to check the database to see if the user has already created a node of TypeX, as well as if they have permissions to create it. 2) When a user creates a node of TypeX, assign them to a different role that doesn't have permissions to create that type of node. In approach 1, I have to make an additional database call on every page load to see if they should be able to see the "Create TypeX" (node/add/typex). But in approach 2, I have to maintain two separate roles. Which approach would you use?

  • What are nested/unnested package in Scala 2.8?

    - by retronym
In Scala 2.7, I could write: package com.acme.bar class Bar . package com.acme.foo class Foo { new bar.Bar } This doesn't compile in Scala 2.8 -- however this does: package com.acme package bar class Bar . package com.acme package foo class Foo { new bar.Bar } What was the motivation for this? What is the precise meaning, with regards to scope and visibility? When should I use one form over the other?

  • Maps with a nested vector

    - by wawiti
For some reason the compiler won't let me retrieve the vector of integers from the map that I've created, I want to be able to overwrite this vector with a new vector. • Can't detect MIME type when using Zend Zend_File_Transfer_Adapter_Http !

    - by mrblue
Hi all, I am writing a small script to upload and detect MIME type, using Zend Framework. For the design purpose, I can't use Zend_Form but normal instead. And I simply apply from the manual : $adapter = new Zend_File_Transfer_Adapter_Http(); $files = $adapter-getFileInfo(); $mime = $files-getMimeType(); But the system inform that the funcion getMimeType() does not existed. Then, I tried: $adapter = new Zend_File_Transfer(); $files = $adapter-getFileInfo(); $mime = $files-getMimeType(); This time, it didn't work either. So, how can I get the MIME type ? Thank you so much for your help

  • Imploding nested arrays

    - by Alex Zylman
Hey guys, If I have an array structured like this: $array[index]['first_name'] $array[index]['last_name'] Is there an easy way to implode it into something like first_name last_name,first_name last_name, etc. for all the indices? Implode didn't seem to do what I wanted for something like this. Currently I'm just looping over the whole thing, but it's a SIGNIFICANT bottleneck.
