  • LINQ query for tag system: Matching any of several tags?

    I am just getting started with LINQ. I am creating an Entity Framework app that uses the canonical Post and Tag model. A Post contains an ID, Text, and Tags, and a Tag contains an ID, a Name, and Posts. A previous thread on StackOverflow showed me how to query for a Post that matches all Tag objects (A and B and C) in a search list. But how would I query for a Post that matches any Tag (A or B or C) in the list? Thanks for your help.

    is there a good way to do a Linq GroupBy where the grouping key is determined at runtime? e.g. I want the grouping key to be built from a user-selected list of fields - can you do this? I know I can do it easily if I convert everything to a table of strings, but I was wondering if there was an elegant or clever way to accomplish this otherwise. class Item { public int A, B; public DateTime D; public double X, Y, Z; } I have a List<Item> called data. I want to do things like retrieve the sum of X grouped by A, or the sums of X, Y, and Z, grouped by A and B. but what fields go into the grouping should be able to be specified at runtime in some way.

    The following works, but I figured - since it is all based on IEnumerable, Linq can come handy here is well. By the way, is there an equivalent to Directory.GetFiles() which would return an IEnumerable instead of the array? If it exists, then would it make the code run any faster? Any suggestions I could use to make consistent, readable linq blocks?

Do I need to manually loop through the collection to pull out the column I want to compare against, or is there a generic way to handle this? That is to say the first row in the matrix {10,23,16,20,2,4} has 4 numbers from arr, this array should be grouped with the rest of the rows with 4 numbers from arr. better to use linq, thank you very much!

Now the question, is it possible to build the query from a text the user has entered at runtime? Like var q = QueryFromText("from a in data where a.X > 20 select new {a.Y, a.Z}"); The point being, that the user (having programming skills) can dynamically and freely select the displayed data.

    I have an an offer, that can be in any number of categories. I don't however want that offer to then appear twice or however more. I was wondering if its possible to have a where clause that ascertains whether that offer already exists in that select statement and if so obviously to ignore it. I have been doing this so far for each table, but with more than 70 of these it becomes cumbersome and boring to do. Is there a way to generate the following code dynamically, And swap out the hardcoded tablenames with the values from the parameterlist?     Hi, Yesterday, I post a question regarding how to clone a git repository from 1 of my machine to another. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2808177/how-can-i-git-clone-from-another-machine/2809612#2809612 I am able to successfully clone a git repository from my src (192.168.1.2) to my dest (192.168.1.1). But when I did an edit to a file and then do a 'git commit -a -m "test"' and then do a git push.   • Web development scheme for staging and production servers using Git Push

    I am using git to manage a dynamic website (PHP + MySQL) and I want to send my files from my localhost to my staging and development servers in the most efficient and hassle-free way. I am currently convinced that the best way for me to approach this problem is to use this git branching model to organize my local git repo. From there, I will use the release branches to push to my staging server for testing. Once I am happy that the release code works on the staging server, I can then merge with my master branch and push that to my production server. Pushing to Staging Server: As noted in many introductory git posts, I could run into problems pushing into a non-bare repo, so, as suggested in this response, I plan to push the release branch to a bare repo on the server and have a post-receive hook that clones the bare repo to a non-bare repo that also acts as the web-hosted directory. Pushing to Production Server: Here's my newest source of confusion... In the response that I cited above, it made me curious as to why @Paul states that it's a completely different story when pushing to a live, development server. I guess I don't see the problem. Would it be safe and hassle-free to follow the same steps as above, but for the master branch? Where are the potential pit-falls? Config Files: With respect to configuration files that are unique to each environment (.htaccess, config.php, etc), it seems simplest to .gitignore each of those files in their respective repos on their respective servers. Can you see anything immediately wrong with this? Better solutions? Accessing Data: Finally, as I initially stated, the site uses MySQL databases to store data. How would you suggest I access that data (for testing purposes) from the staging server and localhost? I realize that I may have asked way too many questions for a single post, but since they're all related to the best way to set up this development scheme, I thought it was necessary.

    I would like to know if there's a known algorithm or best practice way to do the following: I have a collection with a subcollection, for example: R1 R2 R3 -- -- -- M M M N N L L A What i need is an algorithm to get the following result: R1, R2: M N L R2: A R3: M This is -not- what i want, it has more repeating values for R than the above: R1, R2, R3: M R1, R2: N L R2: A I need to group in way that i get the most optimized groups of R. The least amount of groups of R the better so i get the largest sub collections.
