  • How to write an editor that shows the content of a folder in eclipse?

    - by tangens
    Motivation I have written an eclipse plugin that shows me a list of all files and folders with unreviewed content. When selecting a folder, I want an editor to open showing all files and subfolders that this folder contains. It has to work for versioned items, too. So I have to create the content of the editor within my plugin (no backing IResource). What I currently have Right now I'm opening a RemoteFileEditorInput for a versioned file (subclipse) or I'm using IWorkbenchPage.openEditor() for a FileEditorInput. Question What's an easy way to visualize dynamic content (directory listing) inside of an text editor?

  • javascript split() array contains

    - by Mahesha999
    While learning JavaScript, I did not get why the output when we print the array returned of the Sting.split() method (with regular expression as an argument) is as explained below. var colorString = "red,blue,green,yellow"; var colors = colorString.split(/[^\,]+/); document.write(colors); //this print 7 times comma: ,,,,,,, However when I print individual element of the array colors, it prints an empty string, three commas and an empty string: document.write(colors[0]); //empty string document.write(colors[1]); //, document.write(colors[2]); //, document.write(colors[3]); //, document.write(colors[4]); //empty string document.write(colors[5]); //undefined document.write(colors[6]); //undefined Then, why printing the array directly gives seven commas. Though I think its correct to have three commas in the second output, I did not get why there is a starting (at index 0) and ending empty string (at index 4). Please explain I am screwed up here.

  • How to write a custom predicate for multi_index_containder with composite_key?

    - by Titan
    I googled and searched in the boost's man, but didn't find any examples. May be it's a stupid question...anyway. So we have the famous phonebook from the man: typedef multi_index_container< phonebook_entry, indexed_by< ordered_non_unique< composite_key< phonebook_entry, member<phonebook_entry,std::string,&phonebook_entry::family_name>, member<phonebook_entry,std::string,&phonebook_entry::given_name> >, composite_key_compare< std::less<std::string>, // family names sorted as by default std::greater<std::string> // given names reversed > >, ordered_unique< member<phonebook_entry,std::string,&phonebook_entry::phone_number> > > > phonebook; phonebook pb; ... // look for all Whites std::pair<phonebook::iterator,phonebook::iterator> p= pb.equal_range(boost::make_tuple("White"), my_custom_comp()); How should my_custom_comp() look like? I mean it's clear for me then it takes boost::multi_index::composite_key_result<CompositeKey> as an argumen (due to compilation errors :) ), but what is CompositeKey in that particular case? struct my_custom_comp { bool operator()( ?? boost::multi_index::composite_key_result<CompositeKey> ?? ) const { return blah_blah_blah; } }; Thanks in advance.

  • Is there a better loop I could write to reduce database queries?

    - by dmanexe
    Below is some code I've written that is effective, but makes too many database queries. Is there a way I could optimize and reduce the number of queries but have conditional statements still be as effective as below? I pasted the code repeated a few times just for good measure. echo "<h3>Pool Packages</h3>"; echo "<ul>"; foreach ($items as $item): $this->db->where('id', $item['id']); $query = $this->db->get('items')->row(); if ($item['quantity'] > 1 && $item['quantity'] == TRUE && $query->category == "Pool Packages") { $newprice = $item['quantity'] * $query->price; $totals[] = $newprice; } else { $newprice = $query->price; $totals[] = $newprice; } if ($query->category == "Pool Packages") { echo "<li>" . $query->name . " (QTY: " . $item['quantity'] . " x = " . str_ireplace(" ", "", money_format('%(#10n', $newprice)) . ")</li>"; } else { } endforeach; echo "</ul>"; echo "<h3>Water Features</h3>"; echo "<ul>"; foreach ($items as $item): $this->db->where('id', $item['id']); $query = $this->db->get('items')->row(); if ($item['quantity'] > 1 && $item['quantity'] == TRUE && $query->category == "Water Features") { $newprice = $item['quantity'] * $query->price; $totals[] = $newprice; } else { $newprice = $query->price; $totals[] = $newprice; } if ($query->category == "Water Features") { echo "<li>" . $query->name .   • how to write T-SQL to compare and copy data?

    - by George2
    Hello everyone, I have two SQL Server 2008 Enterprise databases (on two machines), and one of the databases is master database and another database is slave database. I want to transfer update from a table in source database to a table in destination database (two tables are of the same schema, both of them are using a single column as unique primary key). The transfer rule is (in short, the rule is keeping the destination database the same as source database because of the update of the source database), if there is a new row in source database but not in destination database, insert the row in destination database; if a row not exists in source database but exists in destination database, delete the row in destination database; if a row's content (i.e. columns other than primary key columns) changes in source database, update the new content into destination database. thanks in advance, George

  • C++ STL: How to write wrappers for cout, cerr, cin and endl?

    - by Ashwin
    I do not like using namespace std, but I am also tired of having to type std:: in front of every cout, cin, cerr and endl. So, I thought of giving them shorter new names like this: // STLWrapper.h #include <iostream> #include <string> extern std::ostream& Cout; extern std::ostream& Cerr; extern std::istream& Cin; extern std::string& Endl; // STLWrapper.cpp #include "STLWrapper.h" std::ostream& Cout = std::cout; std::ostream& Cerr = std::cerr; std::istream& Cerr = std::cin; std::string _EndlStr("\n"); std::string& Endl = _EndlStr; This works. But, are there any problems in the above which I am missing? Is there a better way to achieve the same?

  • How to write to an XML file from the iPad OS?

    - by user345474
    I am developing an app for IPad, and I need to modify several attributes in a XML file at runtime. I found the class NSXMLDocument, http://developer.apple.com/mac/library/documentation/cocoa/reference/foundation/Classes/NSXMLDocument_Class/Reference/Reference.html But I haven't been able to import it to my project. Is this class not available for IPhone/IPad development? Is there some other approach I can consider? I read about libxml library. Is it my answer or there is a better approach?

  • How to write a Python 2.6+ script that does gracefully fail with older pyhton?

    - by Sorin Sbarnea
    I'm using the new print from Python 3.x and I observed that the following code does not compile due to the end=' '. from __future__ import print_function import sys if sys.hexversion < 0x02060000: raise Exception("py too old") ... print("x",end=" ") # fails to compile with py24 How can I continue using the new syntax but make the script fails nicely? Is it mandatory to call another script and use only safe syntax in this one?

  • How do I hook into a game and write a script to manipulate it?

    - by Ethan
    Hey SO, I know this is a pretty open question but I was wondering how people go about writing scripts that will "play" a game, or manipulate it in some way. I had been thinking that I'd try to get a working AI to play a game for fun, but don't even really know where to start. Are there any good resources to learn this? What are good languages to use? Once I have the language, how do I get my script hooked into the game? I was thinking of just trying simple flash games, if that helps. Thanks a bunch!

  • Facebook page linking to external site sign-up process, capture permission to write to wall in process?

    - by steve
    Hi all, Have had a good hunt through the archive but can't find anyone trying to do this... hope someone familiar with the facebook API can confirm if it's possible? Basically I have a client who wants to replicate their membership sign up process in a tab on their facebook page. The form would still submit to their own website to process, we'd just be replicating the form fields. As an additional requirement they want to capture peoples facebook user ID and get permission to post back to a users wall at the same time... The idea being that once the user is a member we can post back to their wall so their friends see that they've signed up... Basically after a sanity check that: 1) these things are possible to do; 2) the best method to build the form in a FB page - I'm guessing using JS to create all fields & ajax to submit to the external site? Thanks Steve

  • Can knowing C actually hurt the code you write in higher level languages?

    - by Jurily
    The question seems settled, beaten to death even. Smart people have said smart things on the subject. To be a really good programmer, you need to know C. Or do you? I was enlightened twice this week. The first one made me realize that my assumptions don't go further than my knowledge behind them, and given the complexity of software running on my machine, that's almost non-existent. But what really drove it home was this Slashdot comment: The end result is that I notice the many naive ways in which traditional C "bare metal" programmers assume that higher level languages are implemented. They make bad "optimization" decisions in projects they influence, because they have no idea how a compiler works or how different a good runtime system may be from the naive macro-assembler model they understand. Then it hit me: C is just one more abstraction, like all others. Even the CPU itself is only an abstraction! I've just never seen it break, because I don't have the tools to measure it. I'm confused. Has my mind been mutilated beyond recovery, like Dijkstra said about BASIC? Am I living in a constant state of premature optimization? Is there hope for me, now that I realized I know nothing about anything? Is there anything to know, even? And why is it so fascinating, that everything I've written in the last five years might have been fundamentally wrong? To sum it up: is there any value in knowing more than the API docs tell me? EDIT: Made CW. Of course this also means now you must post examples of the interpreter/runtime optimizing better than we do :)

  • How can I write a file on an sftp-server with PHP?

    - by Daniel
    Hi, I hope someone here could help me, because I couldn't find any solution with Google. What I have to do is to generate a XML-string (that works) an save that directly into a file on an sftp-server. So far, so good... I used the following code with ftp and it works to, but not with ftps. So I either need another options-configuration for the stream or a different way to solve that task. Here my current code: $host = 'ftp.example.com'; $port = 22; $user = 'xxxxxx'; $pass = 'xxxxxx'; $file = 'test_' . time() . '.txt'; $ftpPath = sprintf('ftp://%s:%s@%s:%d/%s', $user, $pass, $host, $port, $file); $context = stream_context_create(array('ftp' = array('overwrite' = true))); file_put_contents($ftpPath, 'test', 0, $context);

  • Need a cleaner way, which avoids too many 'if statements', to write this method for inputing data in

    - by indiehacker
    What is the best way to reference datastore model attributes without using the four 'if statements' I have in the below sample code, which seem messy and inefficient. For real-world code I may have a situation of 100 attributes such as self.var1, self.var2, ... self.varN that I want to some how reference with just an integer (or strings) as an argument to some method. class PixelObject(db.Model): zoom0 = db.ListProperty(int) zoom1 = db.ListProperty(int) zoom2 = db.ListProperty(int) zoom3 = db.ListProperty(int) zoom4 = db.ListProperty(int) def inputZoomData(self, zoomInteger, input_data): """input_data goes to specified attribute based on if 0,1,2,3,or 4 is argument""" if zoomInteger == 0: self.zoom0 = input_data if zoomInteger == 1: self.zoom1 = input_data if zoomInteger == 2: self.zoom2 = input_data if zoomInteger == 3: self.zoom3 = input_data if zoomInteger == 4: self.zoom4 = input_data

  • how to write floating value accurately to a bin file.

    - by user319873
    Hi I am trying to dump the floating point values from my program to a bin file. Since I can't use any stdlib function, I am thinking of writting it char by char to a big char array which I am dumping in my test application to a file. It's like float a=3132.000001; I will be dumping this to a char array in 4 bytes. Code example would be:- if((a < 1.0) && (a > 1.0) || (a > -1.0 && a < 0.0)) a = a*1000000 // 6 bit fraction part. Can you please help me writting this in a better way.

  • What is the XSLT to write certain node attributes one-to-a-line?

    - by Scott Stafford
    I want an XML stylesheet (XSLT) that will put the attributes of a few, specific, child nodes one-to-a-line. What is the XSLT for this? I recently asked a related question that someone offered a stylesheet to solve but their stylesheet didn't work for some reason, and I am curious why -- the attributes simply didn't end up one-per-line. By way of example, my XML might look like this: <MyXML> <NodeA> <ChildNode value1='5' value2='6' /> </NodeA> <NodeB> <AnotherChildNode value1='5' value2='6' /> </NodeB> <NodeC> <AnotherChildNode value1='5' value2='6' /> </NodeC> </MyXML> And I want a stylesheet that will expand all NodeA's and NodeB's but not NodeCs and make it look like this: <MyXML> <NodeA> <ChildNode value1='5' value2='6' /> </NodeA> <NodeB> <AnotherChildNode value1='5' value2='6' /> </NodeB> <NodeC> <AnotherChildNode value1='5' value2='6' /> </NodeC> </MyXML>

  • Best ways to write a method that updates two objects in a multithreaded java environment?

    Suppose we have a class called AccountService that manages the state of accounts. AccountService is defined as interface AccountService{ public void debit(account); public void credit(account); public void transfer(Account account, Account account1); } Given this definition, what is the best way to implement transfer() so that you can guarantee that transfer is an atomic operation. I'm interested in answers that reference Java 1.4 code as well as answers that might use resources from java.util.concurrent in Java 5

  • How do I write raw binary data in Python?

    - by Chris B.
    I've got a Python program that stores and writes data to a file. The data is raw binary data, stored internally as str. I'm writing it out through a utf-8 codec. However, I get UnicodeDecodeError: 'charmap' codec can't decode byte 0x8d in position 25: character maps to <undefined> in the cp1252.py file. This looks to me like Python is trying to interpret the data using the default code page. But it doesn't have a default code page. That's why I'm using str, not unicode. I guess my questions are: How do I represent raw binary data in memory, in Python? When I'm writing raw binary data out through a codec, how do I encode/unencode it?
