  • Publish/Subscribe/Request for exchange of big, complex, and confidential data?

    I am working on a project where a website needs to exchange complex and confidential (and thus encrypted) data with other systems. The data includes personal information, technical drawings, public documents etc. We would prefer to avoid the Request-Reply pattern to the dependent systems (and there are a LOT of them), as that would create an awful lot of empty traffic. On the other hand, I am not sure that a pure Publisher/Subscriber pattern would be apropriate -- mainly because of the complex and bulky nature of the data to be exchanged. For that reason we have discussed the possibility of a "publish/subscribe/request" solution. The Publish/Subscribe part would be to publish a message to the dependent systems, that something is ready for pickup. The actual content is then picked up by old-school Request-Reply action.   • Google Contacts/Calendars + Address Book + iCal: built-in sync (problems) or Exchange sync?

    (I've looked at a few other questions related to this, but I've only found old questions with people saying that they're having problems, or anticipating Snow Leopard fixing them; no recent updates.) I'm looking to sync my Google Contacts & Calendars, and Gmail, with my Mac & iPhone. The iPhone I have currently set up thus: IMAP for Mail Exchange (Google Sync) for Contacts & Calendars The Mac: Address Book: built-in sync iCal: CalDAV, configured as a Google account I haven't been syncing Gmail to Apple Mail, because I was having weird IMAP glitches every so often that just got to annoying. Will Exchange / Google Sync work for this at all? Any suggestions there? Here are the other problems I'm having. Address Book only syncs certain fields (for example, Birthdays don't sync at all). I believe this is a list of the information that's synced. Address Book's "Synchronize with Google" checkbox doesn't stay checked when I quit Address Book. I think iCal is working fine, for the most part. Any suggestions on how to improve this setup? Why doesn't Address Book / Google Contacts sync stay enabled? Could I use Exchange for it like I am on the iPhone? Will that sync all the fields, including Birthdays, etc.? Thanks in advance!

    I am have trouble with a summary not showing up. I am supposed to modify a previous Java assignment by by adding an array of objects. Within the loop, instantiate each individual object. Make sure the user cannot keep adding another Foreign conversion beyond your array size. After the user selects quit from the menu, prompt if the user want to display a summary report.     the TCP/IP stack is smashed, thats why no LAN-Connections are running. I want to download the LAN drivers from another computer and uninstall and reinstall the LAN devices on this system. Hopefully that should recreate the stack. But what to download? What uninstall? How to install? Windows Vista is protected against such changes, so how to achieve that job? please help. Update per 2011-03-11: I found all the tipps and hints about "TCP/IP Repair, LSP Fix, and WinSock Fix" according to windows vista but nothing helped to bring back network access. What can i do as next step or which opportunities are left?

    What's current best practice to capture full kernel stack traces on a Linux system (RHEL 5.x, kernel 2.6.18) that occasionally panics in a device driver? I'm used to the "old" SunOS way of doing things - crash dumps get written to swap, and on reboot the dump gets retrieved in the local file system. man 8 crash refers to diskdump, but that appears to be unsupported. and/or deprecated. I've played with kdump, but it's unclear whether I can get a stack trace from that. Triggering a panic via Magic SysRq didn't create one. It also seems wasteful to reserve so much memory (128MB) just for a kexec crash recovery kernel.
