• Class initialization issues loading java.util.logging.LogManager in Android Dalvik VM

  I've done changes in an Android native library and installed a new system.img file but am now getting an unrelated Error on startup. I can get past it by swallowing the error but I wanted to know if anyone can explain what the issue is. The Android implementation of Logger.java claims that it is Forcing the LogManager to be initialized since its class init code performs necessary one-time setup. But this forced initialization results in a NoClassDefFoundError. I'm thinking that it has something to do with the class not having been preloaded by Zygote yet but am not that familiar with the whole class loaders and VM business. • ASP.net FFMPEG video conversion receiving error: "Error number -2 occurred"

  Hello, I am attempting to integrate FFMPEG into my asp.net website. The process I am trying to complete is to upload a video, check if it is .avi, .mov, or .wmv and then convert this video into an mp4 using x264 so my flash player can play it. I am using an http handler (ashx) file to handle my upload. This is where I am also putting my conversion code. I am not sure if this is the best place to put it, but I wanted to see if i could at least get it working. Additionally, I was able to complete the conversion manually through cmd line. The error -2 comes up when i output the standard error from the process I executed. • Need Help with Jquery TableSorter Pager plugin.

  Hi I am using the tablesorter plugin: http://tablesorter.com/docs/ with jquery 1.4.2 Now my problem is this. The user can dynamically add rows to the table. But this seems to mess up the paging. Like first it gets added to the first "page" of rows but if you would go to the second page and you go back to the first page. You newly record is gone. I don't know where it goes but it is just gone. I tried to do this $('#pagerid').unbind('click'); $('#tbl tbody ').append(response.HtmlRow); $('#tbl').trigger('update'); So I tried to unbind the pager click method and do a trigger update but that does not seem to work. • Problem receving in RXTX

  I've been using RXTX for about a year now, without too many problems. I just started a new program to interact with a new piece of hardware, so I reused the connect() method I've used on my other projects, but I have a weird problem I've never seen before. The Problem The device works fine, because when I connect with hyperterminal, I send things and receive what I expect, and Serial Port Monitor(SPM) reflects this. However, when I run the simple hyperterminal-clone I wrote to diagnose the problem I'm having with my main app, bytes are sent, according to SPM, but nothing is received, and my SerialPortEventListener never fires. Even when I check for available data in the main loop, reader.ready() returns false. If I ignore this check, then I get an exception, details below. Edit: something interesting When I open hyperterminal after sending a bunch of commands from java that should have gotten responses, all of the responses appear immediately, as if they had been put in the buffer somewhere, but unavailable. Edit 2: Tried something new, same results I ran the code example found here, with the same results. No data came in, but when I switched to a new program, it came all at once. Edit 3 The hardware is fine, and even a different computer has the same problem. I am not using any sort of USB adapter. I've started using PortMon, too, and it's giving me some interesting results. Hyperterminal and RXTX are not using the same settings, and RXTX always polls the port, unlike HyperTerminal, but I still can't see what settings would affect this. As soon as I can isolate the configuration from the constant polling, I'll post my PortMon logs. Edit 4 Is it possible that some sort of Windows update in the last 3 months could have caused this? It has screwed up one of my MATLAB mex-based programs once. Edit 5 I've also noticed some things that are different between HyperTerminal, RXTX, and a separate program I found that communicates with the device (but doesn't do what I want, which is why I'm rolling my own program) HyperTerminal - set to no flow control, but Serial Port Monitor's RTS and DTR indicators are green Other program - not sure what settings it thinks it's using, but only SPM's RTS indicator is green RXTX - no matter what flow control I set, only SPM's CTS and DTR indicators are on.   I'm writing a Firefox extension and need to notify an iFrame page of certain events. The iFrame page is contained within a sidebar created by the extension, and this iFrame page is controlled by me. When I load the iFrame page, the extension code needs to send a notification and trigger something to happen within the iFrame page. To accomplish this, I'm creating an event from the extension Javascript and firing the event, which the iFrame page is listening to. Unfortunately, when invoking document.createEvent(), this error pops up (copied, with the quotes, straight out of Firebug): Operation is not supported" code: "9 Any clues on the error, or suggestions on how to trigger something in an iFrame page from the extension Javascript? I have tried something like that, but my custom sound does not play, though message is displayed with standart sound. • MSSQL2008: DTC Transaction - Internal abort

  Hi all, I write a small own replication - a trigger which fires an DTC INSERT to another server (one reason for my own "replication": while trigger is running it calculates some data, another: it works from an express version to an express version). When I do the initial insert from the same Host with the windows authentification it works fine. But there is a webserver on another host, which uses the sqlserver login (for testing sa). When this Host do the initial insert I get a Internal abort after the entlisting and creating phase in the DTCTransaction EventClass (Profiler). The magic is: When I first fire it from the same Host with the windows authentification, I can fire it from the webserver and it works fine. But I just have to wait some minutes and it won't work. Where is my error in reasoning... Thanks!   Hey guys I had a question regarding scalability for my RoR application. We have been optimizing our application over the last few days and after running blitz.io, notice that our application times out after maybe 1000 hits in 30 seconds we experienced massive timeouts. In the 1 minute test apparently 74% of users would have timed out. Look at the performance of my website: http://blitz.io/report/1c8eb2f395a5eadeabd62fd831ada9e5 Not saying that our website will in any way experience this now, but I wish to design the infrastructure to handle this. What is normally done in this situation? Currently we have one web server and one database server. Would load balancing be the route to go?

• Java Audit table logging, MySQL equivalent of CONTEXT_INFO.

  Hi, I am looking for the MySQL equivalent of CONTEXT_INFO that is present in SQL Server. Or any other session variable like thing using which I can pass the username to the trigger. I am currently working on logging table data for audit. I need to pass the username of the logged in user to the delete trigger. Any ideas? We are deleting the rows from the table in a few cases and marking them as deleted in others. Any alternate solutions are welcome. I thought of using AOP but it could prove problematic when deleting a cascade. I want to look into Hibernate Interceptors, not sure at this point if that works. If I can find the MySQL equivalent of CONTEXT_INFO, my job is done and elegant as well. Thanks, Julia.

  Does Xeon westmere ep (xeon 56xx series) have vt-d (=iommy / direct io) or does intel TXT (Intel® Trusted Execution Technology) include vt-d? I'm at a loss. I've been researching current processors for an important project for some time now. I need to know, if the xeon 5600s (Westmere EP) include vt-d (iommu/directed io/pci passing) because the system will run virtualized guests. This enables direct hardware access eg. pci passthrough, in xen for example. It seems that the 5600s TXT should incorporate vt-d and that xeon 5600s should include vt-d as they are ramped up 5500s, but there is no conclusive answer anywhere. Intel's processor comparison only states that 5500s have vt-d and no TXT and 5600s have no vt-d but TXT. I'd be really grateful if anybody could clear this up and possibly even provide a citation. I have to stop the service, start my application that uses the service in debug mode (Visual studio 2008), start the service, attach to the service process and then navigate in my Asp.Net application to trigger the service. I basically have the service running in the background, waiting for a task. The web application will trigger a task to be picked up by the service. What I would like to do is to have a console application that fires the service in an effort for me to debug. Is there any simple demo that anybody knows about? Thank you Jack

• Objective-C : Trouble with file download

  I ran in a bit of trouble downloading files with Objective-C. I use the download decideDestinationWithSuggestedFilename from Apples documentation page. http://developer.apple.com/mac/library/documentation/cocoa/conceptual/URLLoadingSystem/Tasks/UsingNSURLDownload.html As long as I want to download just one file it works fine but I want to download an array for files one by one. The problem starts with the second file. Right now my code will trigger the next download itself from the downloadDidFinish Method. Then I will get an unrecognized selector sent to instance error. For me it looks like the NSURLDownload that just finished the download is still in use somehow. Release is called but the must be a problem. If I just put an NSBeep in the downloadDidFinished Method and trigger the next file download manually it works fine. Looks like I have to wait a while till I can start the next download. I know this question is a bit vague but maybe someone got an idea.
