  • A Service specific error occured:1 on trying to start apache 2.0 server.(Windows 7)

    I installed apache on my computer(localhost) and it worked fine. Then I went to download some other stuff and later noticed that the apache server stopped. So I went to command prompt(as administrator) and typed net start apache2. It says The Apache2 Service is starting. But before it finishes, I get the error A Service Specific Error Occurred: 1. It says that you can type in something for more info, but that doesn't help at all. Things I have tried: 1: Quit Google Drive Sync 2: Quit any and all programs using port 80(port my server is on) 3. I even tried changing the port of the server and got same error message, so I don't think it has anything to do with something else being in the port. None of those things have worked. I am confused at why it worked earlier, but now it won't work. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    I'm working my way through the Learning Puppet guide on manifests, and I am stuck on the exercise at the bottom of the page which asks you to install the httpd package and start the httpd service. So far my manifest looks like: package { 'httpd': ensure => present, } service { 'httpd': ensure => running, enable => true, } However, upon trying puppet apply on it, I get: From looking at other examples of similar manifests, I cant quite figure out what the issue is - I presume the attempt at installing the package httpd failed? Unfortunately the error message isn't particularly helpful here. Any assistance anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated. I'm running their VMWare Learning Puppet VM (PE 2.7.0) that was provided for this tutorial.

  • Run 2008 R2 Service under 2000 Domain Account

    I'm trying to get a service to run under a domain account. When I try to add the account, I get the error The account name is invalid or does not exist, or the password is invalid for the account name specified I know the account exists and the password is correct. I am also having trouble adding it manually to the "Log on as a service" setting, I get the error An extended error has occured. Failed to save Local Policy Database After a day of research I'm starting to suspect it has to do with it being a 2008 R2 server trying to use a 2000 domain account. I've tried to change the LAN Manager authentication level and the Minimum session security looks okay per my Google digging. I'm not sure what else I can do?

  • How to restrict windows service to X cores?

    I'm currently trying ot figure out a decent/nice way of determening what core(s) a single service should run on, in Windows Server 2008. I'm aware that for procceses there is two ways to do it: set affinity through task manager after proccess is launched. use "start /AFFINITY 0x1" or similar bitmask However this does not seem to work very well with services. When i try to launch the exe that the service will also run (the one that needs restriction) it just spawns a new commandline (and starts the process) but the process terminates shortly after. Does anyone here know how to do a similar trick for services? It is not important what core it is running on, it just needs to be restricted to only one. And preferably it should be something that can be automated, so we do not have to interfere when there is a server restart.

    I want to build a service on my Linux VPS which listens to a certain UDP port and does something with the (text)message which is captured. This processing consists of appending the message to a locally stored txt-file and send it as http, with a post variable to another server. I've looked into Nginx but as far is can see this server can only be bound to receive http packets. Although it is asynchronous. What is the best way to achieve this listening-service on linux? And which has the capabilities to do the above mentioned processing?

    Hi, I am trying to implement a simple web service provider using Tomcat6, CXF 2.2, Spring 3, and actually the service itself runs fine (I can call web methods using the original WSDL and SoapUI). However, Tomcat returns a blank page on "?wsdl" requests. Also, when I try to manipulate the (would-be) published WSDL by adding a publishedEndpointURL property to the jaxws:endpoint element, Tomcat will issue a XML parse exception (something like property publishedEndpointURL is not allowed in element jaxws:endpoint) <jaxws:endpoint id="service" implementor="org.sample.ServiceImpl" implementorClass="org.sample.ServiceImpl" address="/service" publishedEndpointURL="http://localhost:8080/MyService/service"> I used "contract first" style.     Hi, I installed Tomcat 6.0.18 on Windows 2003 as a service. I try to set the CATALINA_OPTS environment variable but it seems to be ignored by Tomcat. Do I need to use the Tomcat Service Manager (procrun) instead? Is it normal that if I install Tomcat as a service it doesn't see the enviroment variables but it only wotks with procrun? THANKS

  • How to reschedule Alarm Manager on Preference Change

    Hi, I have an Android Service. When a phone boots up, a broadcast receiver receives a notification and it schedules the service to run repeatedly at a gap of X minutes. Henceforth After every X minutes another broadcast receiver gets those notifications and kicks the service off, which does it's job and quits. So far so good. Now I want those X minutes to be configurable. I have a perf.xml similar to what is given at the link below. This XML captures all my preferences along with that of service timer. http://android-journey.blogspot.com/2010/01/for-almost-any-application-we-need-to.html Now when user changes preferences; how can I reschedule the alarm? Is there a way I can set a listener on preferences change? I have used only XML files to speficy preferences screen. Any ideas will be welcome. Cheers

  • How to determine user's language setting from LocalSystem

    I have a Windows system service that needs to communicate string information to an application running under the user's account. The strings will appear to the user so I want to make sure that the strings that the service passes to the application are in the same language as the user account. How can I tell what display language the currently logged in user has from the service code? If I can determine this, I can just load the correct resource file and be done. I don't have to support multiple user's logged in so the service will only communicate with one application instance at a time.

    I have a solution containing asp.net project class library WCF service class library WCF service application I've added a project refference from the asp.net project to the class library project and to the service class library project. I've published the asp.net application, loaded it to the webserver root. all ok. Now for the service, I've created a new folder on the root called WCF, and placed the aplication in there. Is this The way I should deploy the sollution? Are this the steps when you have more than a simple asp.net application? I have a template of the SOAP message from the British Government, and a WSDL file for the service. What I have tried Add a service reference using the WSDL file. I received the following error: URI formats are not supported. Add a Web Reference using the URL of the service.
