• ASP.NET Ajax partial postback and jQuery problem

  A control contains some HTML and some jQuery to handle a fancy tooltip to display when you click an image within a div. The control is then used on several different pages, sometimes within an updatePanel, sometimes not. I have the following code to handle loading the jQuery after a partial postback when the control is displayed within an update panel. Do I need a second function that's triggered outside of the EndRequestHandler?

• Is there a way to set the minHeight of the scroll bar thumb in Flex 3

  In my project we needed to make the scollbars look like Windows scrollbars. Therefore I have a thumbIcon on the thumb of a vertical scrollbar, but if I get too many items in the combobox, the scrollbar gets fiddly. This is because the margin between the thumbIcon and the border of the thumbSkin is too small. Is there a way to set the minimum height of the thumbSkin so that I can ensure there is always a margin there and it always looks good, even if there are too many items? Image above, see the thumb? By the thumbIcon I mean the 3 horizontal lines. The top and bottom margin between this icon and the border of the thumb itself is too small. This is the normal scroll bar, the thumbIcon and the borders of the thumb have enough margin, which make the scroll bar look a lot better.

• Should Marketing departments have basic HTML skills?

  Working within an organisation as part of the in-house site development team, a lot of my team's throughput is driven by the colouring-in (marketing) department. It is their responsibility to provide approved content and imagery for the features or enhancements that we include on each iteration of the company site. One thing I've noticed in this job and several previous ones is that the Marketing department is extremely particular about wording and presentation, but has little to no understanding of the actual medium with which they're working - the web. I find that my team is constantly making best guesses for various HTML attributes like image alt text, titles, rel tags, blockquote cite attributes and the like. How reasonable is it to expect that marketing departments have a strong understanding of the purpose of HTML metadata? Should it be the developer's job to remind and inform each time or are marketing departments falling behind the technology they're working with? What could I reasonably expect our marketing department to understand and provide every time with each new work request?

  Hi, I am trying to include jpeg files in latex \includegraphics[width=57.6mm, height=43.2mm]{../../results2/html/zerooneloss_stumps.jpg} With specified the width and height and compiled with pdflatex, however, it produces the error: ! LaTeX Error: Cannot determine size of graphic in ../../results2/html/zerooneloss_stumps.jpg (no BoundingBox). The true size of the image is 576x432 in pixels. Have I specified the size correctly in the latex file? Anyway to use the default setting without need to specify the width and height? If I don't specify the them in the latex file, \includegraphics[]{../../results2/html/zerooneloss_stumps.jpg} I still get the same no BoundingBox error. Thanks and regards!

• Float Issue in IE

  Ok I am making a simulated OS type interface. It should open up windows and have a drag handle. This all works perfectly. Then I added a image for an exit button I floated to the right... this made IE mad and IE screwed with the sizing and positioning =[ I've tried a crap load of things. None of which work. • Flex 3 give DataGrid Data to function

  Hey Guys, i have a Problem to send a value from the DataGrid to a function- this is my function: private function browseLoc( location:String ):void { Alert.show(location,'Information'); } Now i have my DataGrid which receives Information from an XML File. Everything works fine. All Information is shown correctly with that Tags: <mx:Image x="10" y="346" width="157" height="107" scaleContent="true" source="{codeworxx.pages.page[selectedPageIndex].preview}"/> <mx:Label x="10" y="492" width="157" fontWeight="bold" text="{codeworxx.pages.page[selectedPageIndex].visible}"/> <mx:Text x="10" y="513" width="157" text="{codeworxx.pages.page[selectedPageIndex].description}"/> <mx:Button x="10" y="461" label="Visit Website" width="159" click="browseLoc('{codeworxx.pages.page[selectedPageIndex].url}')"/> except the Button. • Problem w/ Paperclip, MacPorts, ImageMagick & Snow Leopard

  I'm attempting to use ImageMagick along w/ Paperclip to handle the images on my rails app. The problem is whenever I try to upload an image I get the following in the terminal: [paperclip] An error was received while processing: #<Paperclip::NotIdentifiedByImageMagickError: /var/folders/go/goZ833AaFaqyvv5RnLqQmE+++TM/-Tmp-/stream20110107-6356-1xfs9j1-0.jpg is not recognized by the 'identify' command.> I have added the following to my environments/development.rb file: Paperclip.options[:command_path] = "/usr/local/bin" If I try to interact w/ ImageMagick in the terminal by using "convert" or something similar I get: dyld: Library not loaded: /opt/local/lib/libltdl.7.dylib Referenced from: /usr/local/bin/convert Reason: Incompatible library version: convert requires version 10.0.0 or later, but libltdl.7.dylib provides version 9.0.0 Trace/BPT trap I've already tried updating everything w/ port but the problem still persists. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

• Python Daemon Subprocess not working at boot

  I am attempting to write a python daemon that will launch at boot. The goal of the script is to receive a job from our gearman load balancing server and complete the job. I am using the python-daemon module from pypi (http://pypi.python.org/pypi/python-daemon/). The nature of the job that it is completing is converting images in the orf (olympus raw image format) to jpeg. In order to accomplish this an outside program is used, ufraw in this case. The problem comes in when I start the daemon at boot, if I launch from the shell it runs perfectly and completes the work. When it starts at boot it is unable to launch the subprocess command. commandString = '/usr/bin/ufraw-batch --interpolation=four-color --wb=camera --compression=100 --output="' + outfile + '" --out-type=jpg --overwrite "' + infile + '"' args = shlex.split(commandString) process = subprocess.Popen(args).wait() I am not sure what I am doing wrong. • Is loading a video in a browser multithreaded?

  It's hard to know what is multithreaded in a browser and what isn't. It seems while a video streams or progressively downloads, it does not affect page performance, so my guess it is. Note I'm using Flash video, but it's really about video in general. Any other tips on what else is multithreaded (image loads?) is also helpful. I know JavaScript is not, and I thought Flash wasn't but I heard somewhere that it may be (or it could be done), but I think they were not well informed.

  Can I have text in the background of a jQuery UI progress bar? You know the kind I'm talking about don't you? The kind that where color:white because the progress bar is over it, and color:black because the progress bar hasn't reached it yet. I think I've seen that type of effect while installing software. Also, what about a background-image, which works, except that it is totally covered up by the progress bar? I'd like for the progress bar itself to be a little bit transparent.

• Web App fails when moved to production environment. Which server permissions do I need?

  I have developed a small web app. This app allows users to upload images. It also produces text files with the names of those images (the names are stored and retrieved to/from an MySQL Database.) I have developed this app using MAMP. To create the uploaded image files I use the PHP function imagejpeg('my/path/name.jpg') and to delete the files I use the PHP function unlink('folder1/folder2/name.jpg') to write to the text document I am using the function fopen('folder1/folder2/name.txt', 'w') all three of these functions produce errors related to permissions - now the site has been moved to a live hosting environment. Why is this? and what permissions do I need to set the folder's folder1 and folder2 to? I know that permission 777 is generally bad because it opens up your server to the public. However what I have found is that the functions fail to work unless I use 777 on the folders. Can anyone shed any light on my dilemma?

• Creating a Cocoa Framework

  Hi, I've created a working Cocoa framework which I wish to redistribute. The problem is however, it won't run outside of Xcode. I've read something about @executable_path/../Frameworks, which I did not include, because I don't know where to put it :/ Therefore I run my app in Xcode using the DYLD_FRAMEWORK_PATH variable which works fine, but only in Xcode - if I try to run it on its own it crashes straight away and says IMAGE NOT FOUND. I'm sure @executable_path/../Frameworks is what's missing, but I don't know where to put it. Could anyone help me out please? :) Thanks

  All I need to do is download some basic text-based and image files from a web server that has a self-signed SSL certificate. I have been trying to figure out how to use HttpClient to do this, but getting the SSL to work is a nightmare that seems to be way too much trouble for such a simple task. Is there a better way to perform these file downloads? Perhaps through a WebView or Browser feature? • iPhone - UIView Animation not looping correctly

  Hey all, got a little problem here and can't figure out what I am doing wrong. I am trying to animate a UIView up and down repeatedly. When I start it, it goes down correctly and then back up but then immediately shoots to the "final" position of the animation. • ADT will not allow creation of Android Activity

  I installed the ADT bundle from http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html yesterday, and I was following a basic Hello World tutorial. I created a new Android Application Project with a Blank Activity named MainActivity. The resulting project has an empty src folder and empty res\layout folder. There is a R.java file in the gen folder but it has no reference to MainActivity. This is what the SDK manager says I have installed Android SDK Tools v 22.6 Android SDK Platform-tools v 19.0.1 Android SDK Build-tools v 19 SDK Platform v 3 ARM EABI v7a System Image v 2 Android Support Library v 19.0.1 Google USB Driver v 9 I also tried manually creating an activity by right clicking the src folder and going to Android Activity, but when I hit Finish on the creation wizard, nothing happens. Does anyone have any clues as to what's going on? Did I miss a key component to install or something?

• How to convert a C++ program that uses CUDA into MEX

  For work, I am converting the Image Denoising program that comes with the CUDA SDK into a MATLAB program. As far as I know, I have made all the necessary changes required by MATLAB, but when I try to call mex on it, MATLAB returns a bunch of linkage errors that I have no idea how to fix. If anyone has any suggestions on what I might be doing wrong, I would greatly appreciate it.   I am trying to view camera feed from a Logitech9000 camera using DSVL(DirectShow Video Library) http://sourceforge.net/projects/dsvideolib/. • Computer graphics: programatically create duotone (or separations)

  There are special kind of images called "duotone" which have just two channels. It is mostly used when you want to achive higher quality reproduction - have a printing press with two colors (black , gray). My question is, I have normal gray-scale image, how to convert it to duotone? I know I can tweak the curves in Photoshop - this is not what I'm asking, rather than how to do it programmatically? Perhaps there is a library which can do just that? What about "dot gain compensation"? "Total ink coverage"?

• iPhone checklist app

  I am trying to create a simple app that displays a list of items with check boxes next to each item, then give the user to simply check each box. Nothing (aside from the checkbox image switching) needs to happen when the check box is touched. Each checklist is a seperate NSDictionary contained in a single master NSDictionary. The checklist dictionary contains arrays for different sections of each checklist. At the top of the view, the user selects which set (dictionary) of checklists they want to open then I want that checklist to display underneath the picker once a "select checklist" button is pressed. Any ideas on the best way to get this done?

• Explorer right-click uploader for CMS?

  I'm looking for a "right-click upload" application like RightLoad - an application that can upload media files to a remote FTP server from the Windows Explorer's context menu. I want to customize the application to serve as a customized image uploading tool to a PHP-based CMS. The user would upload images and other media files to a defined FTP account (I'm also very open for other methods of transport, as long as they are supported by run-off-the-mill web hosting stacks) that they could then use in the CMS they log in to. For me to be able to do these customizations, the application would have to be Open Source - RightLoad is "only" Freeware. Alternatively, I'm open for closed-source and commercial suggestions as long as they allow "pre-packaged" server settings that can easily be deployed to the user. Does anybody know such a tool compatible with at least the most current versions of Windows (XP, Vista, 7)?
