    Hello, I need to perform asp.net web-service function call via jQuery and pass asp.net application path to it. When I debug it I see that backslashes are removed, function gets "C:ProjectsSamplesmytestwebsite" instead of "'C:\Projects\Samples\mytestwebsite\'". How can I overcome this?

  • MPI_Bsend and MPI_Isend. How do they work ?

    Hi, using buffered send and non blocking send I was wondering how and if they implement a new level of parallelism in my application eventually generating a thread. Imagine that a slave process generates a large amount of data and want to send it to the master. My idea was to start a buffered or non blocking send then immediately begin to compute the next result. Just when I would have to send the new data I wold check if I can reuse the buffer. This would introduce a new level of parallelism in my application between CPU and communication. Does anybody knows how this is done in MPI ? Does MPI generate a new thread to handle the Bsend or Isend ? Thanks.

    I am using the below class file, where some variables are declared to use in the entire application. Now I used that variable BlockLogOut in another class file to make the value true. I just put this below line and getting error in it.. TypeInitializationException Global.BlockLogOut = True; The weird thing is, it was working fine for many months and i am getting this error now on the above line. Of course i was modifying some other stuffs in the application, but surely not this class file.   • How to create a MySQL query for time based elements with a 'safe window'?

    I am no SQL expert, far from it. I am writing a Rails application, and I am new at that as well. I come from a desktop programming background. My application has a table of data, one of the columns is the time at which the data was logged. I want to create a query with a 'safe window' around EACH row. By that I mean, it returns the first row, then for X minutes (based on the timelogged column) it won't return any data, once X minutes is up, it will return the next row. For example: ID | TimeLogged 1 | 3/5/2010 12:01:01 2 | 3/5/2010 12:01:50 3 | 3/5/2010 12:02:03 4 | 3/5/2010 12:10:30 5 | 3/5/2010 01:30:03 6 | 3/5/2010 01:31:05 With a 'safe window' of 5 minutes I want to create a query to return: 1 | 3/5/2010 12:01:01 4 | 3/5/2010 12:10:30 5 | 3/5/2010 01:30:03 (It skipped the 12:01:50 and 12:02:03 items because they occurred within 5 minutes of the first item.) Another example, with a 'safe window' of 15 minutes I want to return: 1 | 3/5/2010 12:01:01 5 | 3/5/2010 01:30:03 Perhaps I have to just return all data and parse it myself?

  • Extreamely fast way to clone the values of an array into a second array?

    I am currently working on an application that is responsible for calculating random permutations of a multidemensional array. Currently the bulk of the time in the application is spent copying the array in each iteration (1 million iterations total). On my current system, the entire process takes 50 seconds to complete, 39 of those seconds spent cloning the array. My array cloning routine is the following: public static int[][] CopyArray(this int[][] source) { int[][] destination = new int[source.Length][]; // For each Row for (int y = 0; y < source.Length; y++) { // Initialize Array destination[y] = new int[source[y].Length]; // For each Column for (int x = 0; x < destination[y].Length; x++) { destination[y][x] = source[y][x]; } } return destination; } Is there any way, safe or unsafe, to achieve the same effect as above, much faster?

  • Secure Webservice?

    I'm trying to create a secure webservice (that provides simple database data) with PHP that can be connected to through my Silverlight application. I don't know enough about PHP to be able to see another way to do this. The webservice should only be accessible through the client, and only with the proper username/password. The only two ways I can imagine to do this would be by passing the username/password hash via URL, or use a "hidden form" and do it via POST_. I'm just trying to get past this point, I'm the sole developer on this project and I'm just trying to get past this PHP webservice part so I can get back to being an application programmer :) Normally, I would learn PHP, but I'm on the clock, so I'm just looking for a point in the right direction on how to achieve this!

    Hi Guys I am finding the solution for my application. I create an iphone application have 3 screen: First screen not contain any tab bar. Second screen have 2 tab bar item. Third screen have 3 tab bar item. http://c.upanh.com/upload/7/719/L50.11932623_1_1.jpg If i create a UITabBarController - the tab bar will be appeared from first screen. So I have to hide tab bar in first screen. But second and third screen have different tab bar - not good idea. Do you have solution for this issue, please help me. Thank you !!!

    I am writing a .NET 3.5 WPF application in C#. This application needs to be able to get the URL(s) out of the browser window when it is in the foreground. I already have the code working that handles a global Windows hotkey and then checks to see if the foreground IntPtr is from a browser. If so, I am able to obtain the System.Diagnostics.Process objects that maps to the browser. At this point, I would like to obtain the URL(s) from the browser. Thank you, G

    My idea is to avoid magic string keys in my Asp.Net MVC application. To do so, I want to create string constant keys to be shared in the application. For example, I can write TempData[MyClass.Message] or TempData[MyEnum.Message.ToString()] instead of TempData["Message"]. public class MyClass { public const string Message = "Message"; } and public enum MyEnum { Message, Others } My questions are: Which is the better way to avoid magic string keys?   • securing a webservice for use from a custom iphone app only

    I want to create an iphone application which consists of two parts: The app itself and a server side component. On a users request, the app sends data to the server which is to be handled by human operators. To prevent abuse from an iphone app user, the id of the iphone is sent along with the request, and the operators can blacklist pranksters to deny their iphone access to the service. So far so good. Now the problem is: Someone could easily discover the address of the serverside component, and write a script to send bogus requests, using multiple IP addresses etc. So my question is: how can I defend myself against this? Captchas to protect against scripted attacks or requiring the user to register himself are not an option for this particular application. If I had control of the download, I would associate a unique ID with each downloaded app, but obviously this is not an option with the appstore. What would be your approach to make the server side part more secure?

  • WPF: Menu items and combo boxes don't render in Windows 7 64-bit

    I'm trying to use an existing internal WPF application (I do have access to the source), but it was developed on XP and I'm using Windows7 64-bit. When I click (for instance) the File menu, 90% of the time I see no drop-down menu at all. The menu still exists - I can use the arrow keys to navigate up and down and choose an option if I happen to know the order of the options, but nothing renders at all. The other 10% of the time, the menu or some portion of it DOES render, but as I move the cursor up and down I get graphical corruption or disappearing options until I end up back at the "no menu is visible at all" state. This is also true of combo boxes within the application - they show no data when I drop them down, but I can arrow down and choose an entry. Microsoft has some advice about WPF rendering issues here but none of these steps has helped with my issue.

  • Take advantage of multiple cores executing SQL statements

    I have a small application that reads XML files and inserts the information on a SQL DB. There are ~ 300 000 files to import, each one with ~ 1000 records. I started the application on 20% of the files and it has been running for 18 hours now, I hope I can improve this time for the rest of the files. I'm not using a multi-thread approach, but since the computer I'm running the process on has 4 cores I was thinking on doing it to get some improvement on the performance (although I guess the main problem is the I/O and not only the processing). I was thinking on using the BeginExecutingNonQuery() method on the SqlCommand object I create for each insertion, but I don't know if I should limit the max amount of simultaneous threads (nor I know how to do it). What's your advice to get the best CPU utilization? Thanks

    Hi, I have a windows form project using VS2010 and I am deploying using clickonce. I need the application to work offline as well as online. I have configured the prerequisite - .net client profile 4 and set the location to the same as the application. Everything seems to work as expected, but upon testing I have found it takes 5+ minutes to install the .net client profile 4 and it also requires a reboot. Why does it take so long to install offline (I thought this was going to be mega fast like promised? And why does it require a reboot!!!!????

  • Drupal and Back-End Complexity

    Currently I am working on a school website, and we are still in the decision-making process of choosing a framework (we know that we're not using Joomla! or hand-coding). Drupal came up as a viable choice, and currently, that is my best bet for the site. However, I have an issue with CMS's in general. I would like to develop a quite complicated and specifically custom-suited back-end application for teachers to interact with individual students, including the design of shared/custom calendars, announcement privileges, etc. I currently have a bit of expertise with HTML, CSS, PHP, MySQL, and I could wrap my head around some JavaScript and AJAX stuff if need-be. However, would such a complicated application work with Drupal (in that I could create it to specifically suite my purposes)?

I wan't to have free application with basic functionality. And then it should be extendable with some non-free extensions (dlls?, databases?, SaaS?)     I'm trying to make sure my Java application takes reasonable steps to be robust, and part of that involves shutting down gracefully. I am reading about shutdown hooks and I don't actually get how to make use of them in practice. Is there a practical example out there? Let's say I had a really simple application like this one below, which writes numbers to a file, 10 to a line, in batches of 100, and I want to make sure a given batch finishes if the program is interrupted. I get how to register a shutdown hook but I have no idea how to integrate that into my application.     first example: i worked on a vb.net application for several months. the client paid, said thank you, and posted it on their website. their site is not functional and has not been functional for a while. another company asked me to develop a c# application for their biotech business. i worked on it for a year. they paid me, said thank you. the project was not finished but they just forgot about it. how often do you get a project, get paid for it, and then the client completely forgets about it? they dont ask for support, and they just leave it hanging. does this happen often?
