  • Is segfault signal always sent to application

    My application usually crashes and prints stack to log if received segfault signal. But in some environment the 'dmesg' shows segfault messages related to my application, but application uptime is much older. Can segfault be suppressed and application doesn't receive signal? Or what errors from dmesg can mean ?

  • Problem deploying GWT application on apache and tomcat using mod_jk

    I'm trying to deploy a GWT app on Apache using mod_jk connector. I have compiled the application and tested it on tomcat on the address localhost:8080/loginapp and it works ok.   • Complications registering a punycode domain name

    Not sure if any of you have experience with this, but I am trying to include the anchor (?) in my domain name (using the appropriate punycode to allow it) but upon registering it I encounter the error that the symbol is not supported by the language I have chosen. Does anyone know what language would support this if I were to continue or even how I would go about doing so or if i can even do so. Thanks

    Hello, CentOS 5.3 After booting up. I am wondering what is the name of the log file that contains if all services where successfully loaded or not? For example when computer boots you get a list of start services and they can be OK or FAILED. Is there a log file where this information is kept? I had a look in the following directory /var/log/ but not sure which one will contain the informaiton that I need. Many thanks for any advice,

I have about 930 pictures which are called like: 5210841 Tuinset Senator.jpg 5210898 Traptrede Premium.jpg etc. I'm looking for a way to rename these pictures, without losing the number part.     I'm noticing on MS Network Monitor a ton of NetBios Name Service broadcasts coming from a particular workstation. When I run netmon on that desktop it cannot resolve the application producing them (but does log them). First question, is this bad? Next question, what could be causing this so we can either move it to a server or stop it entirely?

    In Ubuntu, when we right-click a icon and use "open with", there is an option to remember that application for that file's type. For some reason, my system is no more memorizing the application (I think it was aftare some update). And, even when I have already used the "open with" command, the application is not showing in the "open with" list, so I have, everytime, to go to "open with"-"Other Application". Any hint to solve this?

    When I started using git I just did a git init and started calling add and commit. Now I am starting to pay attention and I can see that my commits are showing up as cowens@localmachine, rather than the address I want. It appears as if setting GIT_AUTHOR_EMAIL and GIT_COMMITTER_EMAIL will do what I want, but I still have those old commits with the wrong email address/name. How can I correct the old commits?
