  • Issues with the [embed] tag and fonts

    - by Legogo
Hi, I have some issue with the [embed] tag. Even if I set the embedFonts property of the textfield to true the text doesn't show up. The thing is that it worked previously and after some changes (not related to fonts) it doesn't. I'd like to understand how the embed process for font works to find the error in my code. I declare : [Embed(source = 'asset/font.ttf', fontName="font", mimeType="application/x-font-truetype")] private static var font:String; to assign the font to the program. Then i call "font" when declaring my textFormat. Is the "fontName" property the link with the textformat ? I work with flashdevelop and the flex_sdk_4.0.0.14159 (the big adobe one, with air (~140mo)) Thx ! -Leg

  • Help me understand Rails eager loading

    - by aaronrussell
I'm a little confused as to the mechanics of eager loading in active record. Lets say a Book model has many Pages and I fetch a book using this query: @book = Book.find book_id, :include => :pages Now this where I'm confused. My understanding is that @book.pages is already loaded and won't execute another query. But suppose I want to find a specific page, what would I do? @book.pages.find page_id # OR... @book.pages.to_ary.find{|p| p.id == page_id} Am I right in thinking that the first example will execute another query, and therefore making the eager loading pointless, or is active record clever enough to know that it doesn't need to do another query? Also, my second question, is there an argument that in some cases eager loading is more intensive on the database and sometimes multiple small queries will be more efficient that a single large query? Thanks for your thoughts.

  • 2 Select or 1 Join query ?

    - by xRobot
I have 2 tables: book ( id, title, age ) ---- 100 milions of rows author ( id, book_id, name, born ) ---- 10 millions of rows Now, supposing I have a generic id of a book. I need to print this page: Title: mybook authors: Tom, Graham, Luis, Clarke, George So... what is the best way to do this ? 1) Simple join like this: Select book.title, author.name From book, author WHERE ( author.book_id = book.id ) AND ( book.id = 342 ) 2) For avoid the join, I could make 2 simple query: Select title FROM book WHERE id = 342 Select name FROM author WHERE book_id = 342 What is the most efficient way ?

  • JSP cant find bean Class using "" modifiers

    - by Ravana
Hey I'm using Netbeans for my IDE and I'm getting an error when I try to run my EJB program. I get an error when I declare and give the path of the class in my JSP to a bean. <jsp:useBean id="book" class="BookBean.Book" scope="application" /> <jsp:setProperty name="book" property="*" /> When I run the program I get this error javax.servlet.ServletException: java.lang.InstantiationException: class BookBean.Book : java.lang.IllegalAccessException: Class java.beans.Beans can not access a member of class BookBean.Book with modifiers "" and java.lang.InstantiationException: class BookBean.Book : java.lang.IllegalAccessException: Class java.beans.Beans can not access a member of class BookBean.Book with modifiers "" I removed the "" and put in '' to see if that works, but it doesn't. Any idea? I also put a breakpoint there and it def. is the root of the problem. Thanks.

  • Load a single symbol from a LaTeX package

    - by Martijn
When using the MnSymbol package, pdflatex gives two font warnings: LaTeX Font Warning: Encoding 'OMS' has changed to 'U' for symbol font (Font) 'symbols' in the math version 'normal' on input line 120. LaTeX Font Info: Overwriting symbol font 'symbols' in version 'normal' (Font) OMS/cmsy/m/n --> U/MnSymbolF/m/n on input line 120. It turns out that this is probably due to a clash with the AMSSymb package. Since I need just a few symbols from the package: is there a way to load one symbol from a package, in stead of all?

  • Windows fonts not immediately useable in application after installing?

    - by Jappie
Whenever I install a new font on a Windows 2003 server, I can't use it immediately in my asp.net web application. The application gets the font through the CreateFontIndirect gdi32.dll win api. It seems like fonts get cached somewhere, because I will just get the default font returned. The font cache gets updated after a reboot, and then I get the correct font, but obviously I wouldn't like to do a reboot on a production server just for getting a new font to work. Is there a way to flush the font cache?

  • IE issues with my Website (Help me fix my CSS)

    - by cam77
    I'm struggling geting my website to test fully positive in IE, the following problems keep arising, only in IE; My '#grey box' div displaying 200px to the left out of place, and it seems to move with the adjustment of the IE window size, does this in no other browsers, just IE. It creates this unnecessary horizontal scroll. I have the width set to pretty large, but have "overflow: hidden" and again, works fine across except for IE. On a few of my pages, the footer is somewhat cropped and out of place. My biggest concern is the particular page's CSS, pasted below. #container { width : 1265px; height : 920px; background-color : #addceb; overflow : hidden; padding : 0; } #logo { font-size : 38px; height : 167px; width : 427px; margin-left : 435px; padding-top : 20px; margin-bottom : -10px; margin-top: 10px; border : none; } #menunav { width : 100%; background-image : url(../imagesnew/menunav.png); background-repeat : repeat-x; height : 40px; text-align : center; font-size : 14px; font-family : Palatino Linotype, Book Antiqua, Palatino, FreeSerif, serif; overflow : auto; } #menunav ul { list-style-type : none; background-image : url(); height : 40px; width : 800px; margin : auto; } #menunav ul a { background-image : url(); background-repeat : no-repeat; background-position : right; padding-right : 32px; padding-left : 15px; display : block; line-height : 30px; text-decoration : none; font-size : 14px; } #mainbox { position : relative; background-image : url(../premiumslideimgs/premiumbox.png); background-repeat : no-repeat; width : 900px; height : 800px; margin-left : 16%; top : 22px; padding-top : 5px; overflow : hidden; } #simplegallery1 { position : absolute; left : 50%; width : 800px; height : 800px; margin-top : 44px; margin-bottom: -44px; margin-bottom : 240px; margin-left : -397px; background-color : #a1bbfe; padding-top : 0; } #textbelowbox { position : absolute; width : 830px; height : 45px; margin-left : 209px; margin-bottom : 240px; margin-top : -240px; overflow : hidden; } #footer { background-image : url(../imagesnew/footerimg.png); background-repeat : no-repeat; background-position : right; height : 275px; margin-top : -285px; } a:hover { color : #addceb; } #right { float : right; margin-top : 3px; } #left { float : left; margin-left : 30px; } body { font-family : Palatino Linotype, Book Antiqua, Palatino, FreeSerif, serif; background-color : #addceb; margin : 0; padding : 0; } #textabovebox { width : 920px; position : absolute; margin-left : 228px; margin-bottom : 80px; margin-top : 38px; z-index : 2000; font-family : Palatino Linotype, Book Antiqua, Palatino, FreeSerif, serif; } a.submenu:hover { color : #333; font-weight : bolder; } #dialog { font-size : 12px; } #greybox { position : absolute; width : 275px; height : 465px; margin-left : 715px; margin-top : 80px; overflow : hidden; z-index : 2000; } ul { background-image : url(); height : 40px; width : 800px; margin : auto; } ul a { background-image : url(); background-repeat : no-repeat; background-position : right; padding-right : 32px; padding-left : 15px; display : block; line-height : 30px; text-decoration : none; font-size : 14px; } li { float : left; } a:link { color : #ffffff; text-decoration : none; } a:visited { color : #ffffff; text-decoration : none; } a:active { color : #ffffff; text-decoration : none; } a:hover { color : #addceb; } #right { float : right; margin-top : 3px; } #left { float : left; margin-left : 30px; } #text { float : left; margin-left : 30px; } body { font-family : Palatino Linotype, Book Antiqua, Palatino, FreeSerif, serif; padding : 0; margin : 0; } body { background-color : #addceb; } a.submenu:link { color : #333333; } a.submenu:active { color : #333333; } a.submenu:visited { color : #333333; } a.submenu:hover { color : #333333; font-weight : bolder; } { margin: 0; padding: 0; } Please help if you can, thanks a lot.

  • How to make a css navigation menu "selected" option still clickable

    - by aslum
    So I have a fairly simple vertical CSS menu based off of UL. <ul class="vertnav"> <li><a href="unselected1.php">Item1</a></li> <li><a href="unselected2.php">Item2</a></li> <li><a href="selected.php" class="vertnavdown">Selected</a></li> </ul> I want three basic colors (say tan for default LI, orange for VERTNAVDOWN, and red for A:HOVER. However I can't seem to get the vertnavdown class to inherit right, and the .vertnav li a:visited overrides it every time. if I use !important to force it through I can't seem to also get the hover to work. Any suggestions? I thought I understood inheritance in CSS but I guess I don't. .vertnav{ list-style: none; margin: 0px; width: 172px; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 11px; padding: 0px 0px 0px 0px; margin: 0px 0px 0px 0px; text-align: left; height: 45px; } .vertnav li{ margin: 0px; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 11px; border-bottom: 0px none; border-right: 0px none; border-top: 1px solid #fff; border-left: 0px none; text-align: left; height: 45px; width: 172px; padding: 0px 0px 0px 0px; margin: 0px 0px 0px 0px; } .vertnav li a{ display: block; text-align: left; color: #666666; font-weight: bold; background-color: #FFEEC1; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 11px; text-decoration: none; padding-top: 10px; padding-right: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 15px; height: 45px; } .vertnav li a:visited{ display: block; text-align: left; color: #666666; background-color: #FFEEC1; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 11px; font-weight: bold; text-decoration: none; padding-top: 10px; padding-right: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 15px; height: 45px; } .vertnav li a:hover{ color: white; background-color: #ffbf0c; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; height: 45px; text-decoration: none; font-weight: bold; } .vertnavdown a { display:block; color: #FFF; background-color: #ff9000; } .vertnavdown a:hover { background-color: #ffbf0c; } ^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Edited to add CSS. ^^^^^^

  • Need help with regex parsing (in perl)

    - by Charlie
    Hi all, need some help parsing an html file in perl. I used the LWP module to retrieve a webpage into $_ with $/ undefined so there are no newline issues. Then I'm trying to find all strings matching a pattern. How do I do that? I know how to find 1 instance of it, but how do I match all instances? and what data structure would the results go to? a multi dimensional array? my text (excerpt) looks like the following: <TR> <TD BGCOLOR=EEEEEE><A HREF="/program.cgi?pid=1233"><FONT FACE="ARIAL,HELVETICA,SANS-SERIF" SIZE=2>Title 1</A></FONT></TD> <TD BGCOLOR=EEEEEE nowrap><FONT FACE="ARIAL,HELVETICA" SIZE=2>Jun 27 2010 3:00PM</FONT></TD> <TD BGCOLOR=EEEEEE>&nbsp;</TD> </TR> <TR><TD BGCOLOR=EEEEEE COLSPAN=3><IMG SRC="http://images.domain.com/images/spacer.gif" WIDTH=1 HEIGHT=2><BR></TD></TR> <TR><TD COLSPAN=3 BGCOLOR=999999><IMG SRC="http://images.domain.com/images/spacer.gif" HEIGHT=1 WIDTH=1></TD></TR> <TR><TD COLSPAN=3 ><IMG SRC="http://images.domain.com/images/spacer.gif" WIDTH=1 HEIGHT=2><BR></TD></TR> <TR> <TD><A HREF="/program.cgi?pid=1234"><FONT FACE="ARIAL,HELVETICA,SANS-SERIF" SIZE=2>Title 2</A></FONT></TD> <TD nowrap><FONT FACE="ARIAL,HELVETICA" SIZE=2>Jun 29 2010 7:00PM</FONT></TD> <TD>&nbsp;</TD> </TR> <TR><TD COLSPAN=3><IMG SRC="http://images.domain.com/images/spacer.gif" WIDTH=1 HEIGHT=2><BR></TD></TR> <TR><TD COLSPAN=3 BGCOLOR=999999><IMG SRC="http://images.domain.com/images/spacer.gif" HEIGHT=1 WIDTH=1></TD></TR> <TR><TD COLSPAN=3 BGCOLOR=EEEEEE><IMG SRC="http://images.domain.com/images/spacer.gif" WIDTH=1 HEIGHT=2><BR></TD></TR> <TR> <TD BGCOLOR=EEEEEE><A HREF="/program.cgi?pid=1235"><FONT FACE="ARIAL,HELVETICA,SANS-SERIF" SIZE=2>Title 3</A></FONT></TD> <TD BGCOLOR=EEEEEE nowrap><FONT FACE="ARIAL,HELVETICA" SIZE=2>Jul 3 2010 7:00PM</FONT></TD> <TD BGCOLOR=EEEEEE>&nbsp;</TD> </TR> I want to get the following into an array (or any structure): { ["/program.cgi?pdi=1233", "Title 1"], ["/program.cgi?pdi=1234", "Title 2"], ["/program.cgi?pdi=1235", "Title 3"] } Thanks

If used in combination with the ADF security expression language and security checks performed in Java, this protection already provides you with fine grained access control that can also be used to secure UI components like buttons and input text field. For example, the EL shown below disables the user profile panel tabs for unauthenticated users: <af:panelTabbed id="pt1" position="above">   ...   <af:showDetailItem        text="User Profile" id="sdi2"                                       disabled="#{!securityContext.authenticated}">   </af:showDetailItem>   ... </af:panelTabbed> The next example disables a panel tab item if the authenticated user is not granted access to the bounded task flow exposed in a region on this tab: <af:panelTabbed id="pt1" position="above">   ...   <af:showDetailItem text="Employees Overview" id="sdi4"                        disabled="#{!securityContext.taskflowViewable         ['/WEB-INF/EmployeeUpdateFlow.xml#EmployeeUpdateFlow']}">   </af:showDetailItem>   ... </af:panelTabbed> Security expressions like shown above allow developers to check the user permission, authentication and role membership status before showing UI components. Similar, using Java, developers can use code like shown below to verify the user authentication status: ADFContext adfContext = ADFContext.getCurrent(); SecurityContext securityCtx = adfContext.getSecurityContext(); boolean userAuthenticated = securityCtx.isAuthenticated(); Note that the Java code lines use the same security context reference that is used with expression language. But is this all that there is? No ! The goal of ADF Security is to enable all ADF developers to build secure web application with JAAS (Java Authentication and Authorization Service). For this, more fine grained protection can be defined using the ResourcePermission, a generic JAAS permission class owned by the Oracle Platform Security Services (OPSS).  Using the ResourcePermission  class, developers can grant permission to functional parts of an application that are not protected by page or task flow security. For example, an application menu allows creating and canceling product shipments to customers. However, only a specific user group - or application role, which is the better way to use ADF Security - is allowed to cancel a shipment. To enforce this rule, a permission is needed that can be used declaratively on the UI to hide a menu entry and programmatically in Java to check the user permission before the action is performed. Note that multiple lines of defense are what you should implement in your application development. Don't just rely on UI protection through hidden or disabled command options. To create menu protection permission for an ADF Security enable application, you choose Application | Secure | Resource Grants from the Oracle JDeveloper menu. The opened editor shows a visual representation of the jazn-data.xml file that is used at design time to define security policies and user identities for testing. An option in the Resource Grants section is to create a new Resource Type. A list of pre-defined types exists for you to create policy definitions for. Many of these pre-defined types use the ResourcePermission class. To create a custom Resource Type, for example to protect application menu functions, you click the green plus icon next to the Resource Type select list. The Create Resource Type editor that opens allows you to add a name for the resource type, a display name that is shown when granting resource permissions and a description. The ResourcePermission class name is already set. In the menu protection sample, you add the following information: Name: MenuProtection Display Name: Menu Protection Description: Permission to grant menu item permissions OK the dialog to close the resource permission creation. To create a resource policy that can be used to check user permissions at runtime, click the green plus icon in the Resources section of the Resource Grants section. In the Create Resource dialog, provide a name for the menu option you want to protect. To protect the cancel shipment menu option, create a resource with the following settings Resource Type: Menu Protection Name: Cancel Shipment Display Name: Cancel Shipment Description: Grant allows user to cancel customer good shipment   A new resource Cancel Shipmentis added to the Resources panel. Initially the resource is not granted to any user, enterprise or application role. To grant the resource, click the green plus icon in the Granted To section, select the Add Application Role option and choose one or more application roles in the opened dialog. Finally, you click the process action to define the policy. Note that permission can have multiple actions that you can grant individually to users and roles. The cancel shipment permission for example could have another action "view" defined to determine which user should see that this option exist and which users don't. To use the cancel shipment permission, select the disabled property on a command item, like af:commandMenuItem and click the arrow icon on the right. From the context menu, choose the Expression Builder entry. Expand the ADF Bindings | securityContext node and click the userGrantedResource option. Hint: You can expand the Description panel below the EL selection panel to see an example of how the grant should look like. The EL that is created needs to be manually edited to show as #{!securityContext.userGrantedResource[               'resourceName=Cancel Shipment;resourceType=MenuProtection;action=process']} OK the dialog so the permission checking EL is added as a value to the disabled property. Running the application and expanding the Shipment menu shows the Cancel Shipments menu item disabled for all users that don't have the custom menu protection resource permission granted. Note: Following the steps listed above, you create a JAAS permission and declaratively configure it for function security in an ADF application. Do you need to understand JAAS for this? No!  This is one of the benefits that you gain from using the ADF development framework. To implement multi lines of defense for your application, the action performed when clicking the enabled "Cancel Shipments" option should also check if the authenticated user is allowed to use process it. For this, code as shown below can be used in a managed bean public void onCancelShipment(ActionEvent actionEvent) {       SecurityContext securityCtx =       ADFContext.getCurrent().getSecurityContext();   //create instance of ResourcePermission(String type, String name,   //String action)   ResourcePermission resourcePermission =     new ResourcePermission("MenuProtection","Cancel Shipment",                            "process");        boolean userHasPermission =          securityCtx.hasPermission(resourcePermission);   if (userHasPermission){       //execute privileged logic here   } } Note: To learn more abput ADF Security, visit http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17904_01/web.1111/b31974/adding_security.htm#BGBGJEAHNote: A monthly summary of OTN Harvest blog postings can be downloaded from ADF Code Corner. - by TATWORTH
Today's $10 Deal of the Day from APress at http://www.apress.com/9781430231714 is Introducing Visual C# 2010."If you're new to C# programming, this book is the ideal way to get started. Respected author Adam Freeman guides you through the C# language by carefully building up your knowledge from fundamental concepts to advanced features." Adam Freeman is an excellent author. This is an excellent introduction to C# programming and a manual for those with experience. Having read through book, I am very impressed by its practical approach to C#. I cannot improve on the by-line "Get started on your C# journey with an expert by your side leading by example" Adam Freeman teaches C# by precept and example. I suspect he drives a Volvo C30 as it comes up in many of the code examples! Throughout the book there are numerous links back and forth so as to avoid over complicating the current topic. I have have no hesitation in recommending this book both to programmers starting out with C# and to the seasoned professional. It is a book that should be on every C# development team's book shelf.

Two KM articles reflect Oracles policy towards the use of VMware: 249212.1 and 475484.1 . The bottom line is: “you may use it at your own risk, but Oracle does not recommend it”. So far we have seen few problems with the use of VMware (other than performance and the usual limitations) but Oracle does not certify its software for the use in VMware (and specifically for RAC Software actively refuses any support) and any issue that may occur will be fixed for the native OS only. It is on the customer to prove that the issue is NOT due to VMware in case that an issue is encountered. See: “Oracle Fusion Middleware Supported System Configurations page” And also “Supported Virtualization and Partitioning Technologies for Oracle Fusion Middleware”

Use the power of XPATH i.e Will use a Simple (Do while) as an example. We could have many different techs all achieveing the same result Instead of   xmlNI2 = xmlNav.Select("/p:BookShop")         if (xmlNI2.Count != 0)            {                                 while ((xmlNI2.MoveNext()))              string aNode =xmlNI2.SelectSingleNode('Book', nsmgr); if (aNode =="The Book I am after")       Console.WriteLine("Found My Book);   This lengthy cumbersome task can be achieved with a simple XPATH query Console.WriteLine((xmlNavg.SelectSingleNode("/p:BookShop/Book[.='The Book I am aFter ']", nsmgr)).Value.ToString()); Use the power of the parser and eliminate the middleman C#/MSIL/JIT etc etc Get Started Fast and use the parser as Outlined 1) Open XML and goto Grid Mode 2) Select XPATH tab on the bottom viewer/window as shown  From here you get intellisense and can quickly learn how to navigate/find the data using XPATH A key component to Navigation with XPATH is to use the "../ " command . This basically says from where I am now go up 1 level . With Xpath all commands are cumalative. i.e you can search for a book title @ the 2nd level of the XML and from there traverse 15 layers to paragraphs or words on a page with expression validation occuring throughout this process etc  (So in essence you may have arrived @ a node within the XML and have met 15 conditions along the way ) Given 1-2 days with XmlSpy and XPATH you unlock a technology that is super fast and simple to use. XML is a core component to what lays under the hood of so many techs. So it is no wonder that you want to be able to goto  the atomic level to achieve the result you want Justin P.S For a long time I saw XML as slow and a bit boring but now converted
