  • Anchor HTML DIV tag to right of screen

    - by Phillip
Hello, I have a site that has 2 DIV tags, one floats left the other floats right. The left DIV contains text for the page, the other DIV is used to display a video. When I have text in the left DIV that fits the entire width of the screen the video shows up where I want it. However, a few pages have very little text and cause the video to show up in the right-center of the screen. I want to anchor this DIV to the right of the screen regardless of how much text is shown. I don't seem to get this problem in lower resolutions, it occurs more in the higher resolutions (such as 1280x1024). You can see an example on these pages: http://www.quilnet.com/TechSupport.aspx - Positions the right DIV where I want it regardless of the resolution. http://www.quilnet.com/ContactUs.aspx - Makes the right DIV closer to the center in higher resolutions. I want it in the position of the page TechSupport.aspx. I am trying to refrain from using the width parameter because I want it to be resolutionally compliant. I don't want my viewers to have to move a scroll bar left and right. Any ideas? Thanks!

  • Html combo box to database record Id

    - by LanguaFlash
I'm fairly sure there has to be a simple solution to my problem, but I am a new web developer and can't quite figure it out. On my page I have a combo box whose values are filled from my database. When the user submits the form, how to I go about converting those values back to the record numbers in the database? Up to now I have been just doing a sort of reversed lookup in my database to try to get the record's ID. This has quite a few obvious flaws and I am sure that there has to be a better way. I am used to MS Forms combo boxes where the record data and ID are never separated. But in the case of a web form, I have no way to do multiple columns in the combo box like I am used to. Thanks! Jeff

    - by Cuong Le
    I am a new kid with dojo, I got weird issue which I take lots of time and have not yet found out, assume I have 4 buttons: <button id="btnMoveFirst" data-dojo-type="dijit.form.Button" iconclass="plusIcon"> &lt; &lt;</button> <button id="btnMovePrev" data-dojo-type="dijit.form.Button" iconclass="plusIcon"> &lt;</button> <button id="btnMoveNext" data-dojo-type="dijit.form.Button" iconclass="plusIcon"> &gt;</button> <button id="btnMoveLast" data-dojo-type="dijit.form.Button" iconclass="plusIcon"> &gt; &gt;</button> And use dojo with event onclick as below: dojo.connect(dijit.registry.byId('btnMoveFirst'), "onclick", function(evt){ alert('test1'); }); dojo.connect(dijit.registry.byId('btnMovePrev'), "onclick", function(evt){ alert('test2'); }); dojo.connect(dijit.registry.byId('btnMoveNext'), "onclick", function(evt){ alert('test3'); }); dojo.connect(dijit.registry.byId('btnMoveLast'), "onclick", function(evt){ alert('test4'); }); But when I click any one of 4 buttons, or even any button in form, I got 4 alerts instead of only correct one. Does anyone know this?

  • where should i encode this html data in an asp.net mvc site

    - by ooo
here is my view code: <%=Model.HtmlData %> here is my controller code: public ActionResult GetPage() { ContentPageViewModel vm = new ContentPageViewModel(); vm.HtmlData = _htmlPageRepository.Get("key"); return View(vm); } my repository class basically queries a database table that has the fields: id, pageName, htmlContent the .Get() method passes in a pageName (or key) and returns the htmlContent value. Right now i have just started this (haven't persisted anything to the db yet) so i am not doing any explicit encoding in my code now. What is the best practice for where i need to do encoding (in the model, the controller, the view ??)

  • How to impose maxlength on textArea in HTML , Javascript

    - by Rakesh Juyal
I would like to have some functionality by which if i write <textarea maxlength="50"></textarea> <textarea maxlength="150"></textarea> <textarea maxlength="250"></textarea> it will automatically impose the maxlength on the textArea. If possible please donot provide the solution in JQuery. Note: This can be done if i do something like this: <textarea onkeypress="return imposeMaxLength(event, this, 110);" rows="4" cols="50"> function imposeMaxLength(Event, Object, MaxLen) { return (Object.value.length <= MaxLen)||(Event.keyCode == 8 ||Event.keyCode==46||(Event.keyCode>=35&&Event.keyCode<=40)) } copied from another thread But the point is I don't want to write onKeyPress and onKeyUp every time i declare a textArea.

  • position of options in HTML select element

I have a element that contains options. The element is 150px wide but some of the options are wider. So when rendering, the browser shows the overflow to the right. • RegEx to replace html entities

    - by DeltaFox
Hi, all. I'm looking for a way to replace the bullet character in Greasemonkey. I assume a Regular Expression will do the trick, but I'm not as well-versed in it as many of you. For example, "SampleSite.com • Page Title" becoming "SampleSite.com Page Title". The issue is that the character has already been parsed by the time Greasemonkey has gotten to it, and I don't know how to make it recognize the symbol. I've tried these so far, but they haven't worked: newTitle = document.title.replace(/•/g, ""); newTitle = document.title.replace("•", ""); //just for grins, but didn't work anyway

  • Making form submissions unique using PHP and HTML

    - by canadiancreed
Hello all I'm currently developing a page where the user fills out a form, and when submitted they are taken to the next page. When on the next page, I want to have it so that if the user went back to the previous page using the back button, or hit refresh, the submission will not be saved into the DB. Now I recall reading somewhere that if you had a way to make each submission unique, this issue is averted, but after screwing around for hours on end, for the life of me I cannot recall how this could be done (using PHP), so long story short has anyone ran into this, and if so, what was your solution?

  • reading non-english html pages with c#

    I am trying to find a string in Hebrew in a website. The reading code is attached. Afterward I try to read the file using streamReader but I can't match strings in other languages. what am I suppose to do? // used on each read operation byte[] buf = new byte[8192]; // prepare the web page we will be asking for HttpWebRequest request = (HttpWebRequest) WebRequest.Create("http://www.webPage.co.il"); // execute the request HttpWebResponse response = (HttpWebResponse) request.GetResponse(); // we will read data via the response stream Stream resStream = response.GetResponseStream(); string tempString = null; int count = 0; FileStream fileDump = new FileStream(@"c:\dump.txt", FileMode.Create); do { count = resStream.Read(buf, 0, buf.Length); fileDump.Write(buf, 0, buf.Length); } while (count > 0); // any more data to read? fileDump.Close();

  • Align table columns HTML

    - by Luigi Tiburzi
I finally was able to align the columns in the tables of a page of my website. Though I found the solution I don't understand it. This is a fiddle I prepared. If you delete display: block from the CSS the columns are centered perfectly. The fact is that I don't understand what that instruction is causing problems, doesn't it means that elements are displayed as block elements? Shouldn't it cause the elements (the raw in particular) to fill an entire line? Thanks for your explanation

  • [IE] Remove the complete styling of an HTML button/submit

    - by Saif Bechan
Is there a way of completely removing the styling of a button in Internet Explorer? I use a css sprite for my button, and everything looks ok. But when I click the button, it moves to the top a little, it makes it look out of shape. Is there a css click state, or mousedown? I don't know what triggers that state. I know it's not a really big deal, but sometimes it's the small things that matter.

  • HTML divs can go outside browser window??

    - by Nelson
I was playing around with ASP.NET Web Parts which has a "drop down" div. It's all the way to the right of the page. When I click to bring it up, it goes off the window. Usually anything off the viewable area will trigger the bottom scrollbars. How is this possible? See screenshot: http://i42.tinypic.com/4sejww.png

  • Lock HTML select element, allow value to be sent on submit

    - by ILMV
I have a select box (for a customer field) on a complex order form, when the user starts to add lines to the order they should not be allowed to change the customer select box (unless all lines are deleted). My immediate thought was that I could use the disabled attribute, but when the box is disabled the selected value is no longer passed to the target. When the problem arose a while ago one of the other developers worked around this by looping through all the options and disabling all but the selected option, and sure enough the value was passed to the target and we've been using since. But now I'm looking for a proper solution, I don't want to loop through all the options because are data is expanding and it's starting to introduce performance issues. I'd prefer not to enable this / all the elements when the submit button is hit. How can I lock the input, whilst maintaining the selected option and passing that value to the target script? I would prefer a non-JavaScript solution if possible, but if needed we are running jQuery 1.4.2 so that could be used.

  • HTML Tables with jQuery Filtering

    - by Bry4n
    Let's say I have... <form action="#"> <fieldset> to:<input type="text" name="search" value="" id="to" /> from:<input type="text" name="search" value="" id="from" /> </fieldset> </form> <table border=1"> <tr class="headers"> <th class="bluedata"height="20px" valign="top">63rd St. &amp; Malvern Av. Loop<BR/></th> <th class="yellowdata"height="20px" valign="top">52nd St. &amp; Lansdowne Av.<BR/></th> <th class="bluedata"height="20px" valign="top">Lancaster &amp; Girard Avs<BR/></th> <th class="yellowdata"height="20px" valign="top">40th St. &amp; Lancaster Av.<BR/></th> <th class="bluedata"height="20px" valign="top">36th &amp; Market Sts<BR/></th> <th class="yellowdata"height="20px" valign="top">Juniper Station<BR/></th> </tr> <tr> <td class="bluedata"height="20px" title="63rd St. &amp; Malvern Av. Loop"> <table width="100%"><tr><td>12:17am</td></tr><tr><td>12:17am</td></tr><tr><td>12:47am</td></tr></table> </td> <td class="yellowdata"height="20px" title="52nd St. &amp; Lansdowne Av."> <table width="100%"><tr><td>12:17am</td></tr><tr><td>12:17am</td></tr><tr><td>12:47am</td></tr></table> </td> <td class="bluedata"height="20px" title="Lancaster &amp; Girard Avs"> <table width="100%"><tr><td>12:17am</td></tr><tr><td>12:17am</td></tr><tr><td>12:47am</td></tr></table> </td> <td class="yellowdata"height="20px" title="40th St. &amp; Lancaster Av."> <table width="100%"><tr><td>12:17am</td></tr><tr><td>12:17am</td></tr><tr><td>12:47am</td></tr></table> </td> <td class="bluedata"height="20px" title="36th &amp; Market Sts"> <table width="100%"><tr><td>12:17am</td></tr><tr><td>12:17am</td></tr><tr><td>12:47am</td></tr></table> </td> <td class="bluedata"height="20px" title="Juniper Station"> <table width="100%"><tr><td>12:17am</td></tr><tr><td>12:17am</td></tr><tr><td>12:47am</td></tr></table> </td> </tr> </table> Now depending upon what data is typed into the textboxes, I need the table trs/tds to show or hide. So if I type in 63rd in "to" box, and juniper in the "from" box, I need only those two trs/tds showing in that order and none of the others.

  • HTML to Text Conversion

    - by JSS
Internet Explorer has an option to save a web page as a text file, with all the tags removed. I need a way to batch process that stuff for a project at work. Or there any command line utilities or libraries that can do the same thing for me? COM-interop with IE(not my first choice!)? It doesn't have to format exactly like IE, just give me plain text.

  • Using javascript on an HTML table?

    - by Michael McKay
Hi, few questions, just wondering if anyone can help? I have a table with 1 long row (1000 pixels) and one single column, how do i go about creating a method whereby when the mouse cursor is on the leftmost side of the cell, a variable, lets say X is set to 0, the further right the mouse cursor moves in the cell, the value of X increases. I know that sounds like a strange question but im working on a project where this type of functionality is desired. Is there a javascript method to create this feature? Thanks for any help.

  • Best practice to structure large html-based project

    - by AntonAL
I develop Rails based website, enjoying using partials for some common "components" Recently, i faced a problem, that states with CSS interference. Styles for one component (described in css) override styles for another components. For example, one component has ... <ul class="items"> ... and another component has it too. But that ul's has different meaning in these two components. On the other hand, i want to "inherit" some styles for one component from another. For example: Let, we have one component, called "post" <div class="post"> <!-- post's stuff --> <ul class="items"> ... </ul> </div And another component, called "new-post": <div class="new-post"> <!-- post's stuff --> <ul class="items"> ... </ul> <!-- new-post's stuff --> <div class="tools">...</div> </div Post and new-post have something similar ("post's stuff") and i want to make CSS rules to handle both "post" and "new-post" New post has "subcomponents", for example - editing tools, that has also: <ul class="items"> This is where CSS rules starting to interfer - some rules, targeted for ul.items (in post and new-post) applies subcomponent of new-post, called "tools" On the one hand - i want to inherit some styles On the other hand, i want to get better incapsulation What are the best practices, to avoid such kind of problems ?
