  • Python OSError not reporting errors

    Ive got this snippet that Im using to convert image files to tiff. I want to be informed when a file fails to convert. Imagemagick exits 0 when successfully run, so I figured the following snippet would report the issue.   • SQL Server Reporting Services Data Extention

    Hello! So... here's my story: I'm trying to create a SQL server data extension (to be precise, I'm trying to get some sample code to run) (SSRS2005). I've done the following: Placed the extension assembly into the ReportServer/bin folder. Placed the assembly into the Private Assemblies folder. Modified rsreportserver.config in, and added the assembly info to the data section. Modified rssrvpolicy.config, and added a code group for the assembly with Full Trust. Modified RSReportDesigner.config in PrivateAssemblies. Added the assembly to the data and the designer sections, specifying the generic query designer. Modified RSPreviewPolicy.config. Added the assembly with Full Trust. The new Data Source type is available for selection, but when I try to view the dataset I get this error: The data extension DataSet could not be loaded. Check the configuration file RSReportDesigner.config. The location of the assembly is configured properly (I think), because I've added logging code and I can see that the constructor of the Connection object is being called. In fact, I've added logging code to every method of every class in the assembly, and as far as I can tell the failure occurs right after the connection object's constructor is called. Any ideas on how I might proceed to debug this? Thanks alot!

    The Reporting Brick concept is not really anything new, it starts the walk toward bringing the work Jim Gray and Tom Barclay et al did on CyberBricks up-to-date in terms of current kit. A reporting brick is simply a box built from commodity kit utilising commodity SSD, namely the OCZ IBIS drives to gain extremely high levels of performance for a fraction of the cost required for typical server and san installs today. I'll write up over the next few months as I work further on the concept, for now the deck attached summarises some of the ideas around it, the deck was presented at last nights London SQL Server User Group, I will be presenting it again in Edinburgh on the 29th June and other locations later in the year.     I got the error today when debugging some of my PowerShell Script in PowerGUI. The script works perfectly fine in PowerShell console. Then I had spent a couple of hours scratching my head, trying to figure out why. It turns out that the PowerShell Variables Panel causes the problem. Not quite sure why, but collapse the panel fix the problem. Problem: It throws the following exception when debugging my PowerShell Script. Analysis: It turns out that the PowerShell Variables Panel causes the problem. I assume it calls some function to grab value of some of variables which cause the problems. Solution: Collapse or Close the variables panel fix the problem

  • Method to capture a screenshot of user's browser to aid in bug reporting

    I'm looking for a way to make it easy for technically unsophisticated users to submit screenshots of their browser to me, to aid in debugging web application problems. There will be a button on all pages inside a web application they can use to report problems, which I would like to submit a screenshot (among other things). http://www.snapabug.com/ is very close to what I want, but I need to be able to customize a few things that service won't let me. Production environment is LAMP. I expect there must be something Flash-based that can do this, but I've not been able to find something. Thanks!

  • Building Interactive User Interfaces with Microsoft ASP.NET AJAX: Refreshing An UpdatePanel With Jav

    The ASP.NET AJAX UpdatePanel provides a quick and easy way to implement a snappier, AJAX-based user interface in an ASP.NET WebForm. In a nutshell, UpdatePanels allow page developers to refresh selected parts of the page (instead of refreshing the entire page). Typically, an UpdatePanel contains user interface elements that would normally trigger a full page postback - controls like Buttons or DropDownLists that have their AutoPostBack property set to True. Such controls, when placed inside an UpdatePanel, cause a partial page postback to occur. On a partial page postback only the contents of the UpdatePanel are refreshed, avoiding the "flash" of having the entire page reloaded. (For a more in-depth look at the UpdatePanel control, refer back to the Using the UpdatePanel installment in this article series.) Triggering a partial page postback refreshes the contents within an UpdatePanel, but what if you want to refresh an UpdatePanel's contents via JavaScript? Ideally, the UpdatePanel would have a client-side function named something like Refresh that could be called from script to perform a partial page postback and refresh the UpdatePanel. Unfortunately, no such function exists. Instead, you have to write script that triggers a partial page postback for the UpdatePanel you want to refresh.   • Problems with zend-tool reporting that providers are not valid

    I have recently setup XAMPP 1.7.3 and ZendFramework 1.10.4 on a new computer and many of the commands that I normally use now fail. Here are the steps I used to setup and test ZF. First I added the ZF library folder (C:\xampp\php\ZendFramework-1.10.4\library) to the include path in php.ini. Then I added the ZF bin folder (C:\xampp\php\ZendFramework-1.10.4\bin) to my Path system variable. To test that everything is configured correctly I ran the command "zf show version" from the command line. The result is "Zend Framework Version: 1.9.6". Immediately something appears to be wrong. The file that is downloaded is "ZendFramework-1.10.4.zip" and the reported version is 1.9.6. I have re-downloaded the latest version (1.10.4) and removed old copy. Still the incorrect version number problem persisted. Having done some research there is a bug in the ZF knowledgebase that version 1.10.3 reports a wrong version number. So that may explain the version number problem. Moving forward I tried to run some zf-tool commands and certain commands reports that the action or provider is not valid. Example: C:\xampp\htdocs>zf create project test Creating project at C:/xampp/htdocs/test C:\xampp\htdocs>cd test C:\xampp\htdocs\test>zf create controller Test Creating a controller at C:\xampp\htdocs\test/application/controllers/TestController.php ... Updating project profile 'C:\xampp\htdocs\test/.zfproject.xml' C:\xampp\htdocs\test>zf create action test Test Creating an action named test inside controller at C:\xampp\htdocs\test/application/controllers/TestController.php ... Updating project profile 'C:\xampp\htdocs\test/.zfproject.xml' C:\xampp\htdocs\test>zf enable layout An Error Has Occurred Action 'enable' is not a valid action. ... C:\xampp\htdocs\test>zf create form Test An Error Has Occurred Provider 'form' is not a valid provider. ... Can any one provide insight into these errors and how to correct them?

This page describes the differences between Mobile Silverlight and Silverlight 3. Of particular interest is this: The System.Reflection.Emit namespace is not supported in Silverlight for Windows Phone. This is precisely why Unity is crashing on the phone, DynamicMethodConstructorStrategy class uses System.Reflection.Emit quite extensively... So the question is, what alternative to Unity is there for Windows Phone 7?

  • WebCenter .NET Accelerator - Microsoft SharePoint Data via WSRP

    Platforms in the enterprise will never be homogeneous. As much as any vendor would enjoy having their single development or application technology be exclusively adopted by customers, too much legacy, time, education, innovation and vertical business needs exist to make using a single platform practical. JAVA and .NET are the two industry application platform heavyweights and more often than not, business users are leveraging various systems in their day to day activities that incorporate applications developed on top of both platforms. BEA Systems acquired Plumtree Software to complete their "liquid" view of data, stressing that regardless of a particular source system heterogeneous data could interoperate at not only through layers that allowed for data aggregation, but also at the "glass" or UI layer. The technical components that allowed the integration at the glass thrive today at Oracle, helping WebCenter to provide a rich composite application framework. Oracle Ensemble and the Oracle .NET Application Accelerator allow WebCenter to consume and interact with the UI layers provided by .NET applications and a series of other technologies. The beauty of the .NET accelerator is that it can consume any .NET application and act as a Web Services for Remote Portlets (WSRP) producer. I recently had a chance to leverage the .NET accelerator to expose a ASP .NET 2.0 (C#) application in the WebCenter UI (pictured above) and wanted to share a few tips to help others get started with similar integrations. I was using two virtual machines for the exercise - one with Windows Server 2003, running SharePoint and the other running WebCenter Spaces 11g. For my sample application data I ended up using SharePoint 2007 lists and calendars (MOSS 2007) to supply results using a .NET API for SharePoint.

  • WinDbg fails to find symbol file reporting 'unrecognized OMF sig'

    I have received a 64bit dump of a 32bit app that was running on Win7 x64. I am able to load it in WinDbg (hint: !wow64exts.sw) running on a 64bit OS. The symbols for most of my dlls are loaded properly. The pdb for one though does not load. The same pdb does load properly for the same dll when reading a 32bit dump on a different system. I've also confirmed that the dll and pdb match each other via the chkmatch utility. I tried .symopt +40 but the pdb still didn't load. I did !sym noisy then .reload - WinDbg reported: DBGHELP: unrecognized OMF sig: 811f1121 *** ERROR: Symbol file could not be found. Defaulted to export symbols Any ideas on what to try to get WinDbg to load my pdb when reading a 64bit dump?
