  • How can I change the Python that my Django project is using?

    - by Burak
I have 2 versions installed in my server. I used virtualenv to install Python 2.7. I am using WSGI to deploy my project. WSGIPythonPath /home/ENV/lib/python2.7/site-packages WSGIScriptAlias / /var/www/html/my_project/wsgi.py My http.conf is like that. python -V gives Python 2.7.3 But in my projects Debug window, it says Django is using 2.6.8. Where am I wrong? UPDATE: Here is my wsgi file import os import sys sys.path.append('/var/www/html') os.environ.setdefault("DJANGO_SETTINGS_MODULE", "myproject.settings") from django.core.wsgi import get_wsgi_application application = get_wsgi_application() Python Version: 2.6.8 Python Path: ['/home/ENV/lib/python2.7/site-packages/setuptools-0.6c11-py2.7.egg', '/home/ENV/lib/python2.7/site-packages/pip-1.1-py2.7.egg', '/home/ENV/lib/python2.7/site-packages/Django-1.4-py2.7.egg', '/home/ENV/lib/python2.7/site-packages', '/usr/lib/python2.6/site-packages/pip-1.1-py2.6.egg', '/usr/lib/python2.6/site-packages/django_transmeta-0.6.7-py2.6.egg', '/usr/lib/python2.6/site-packages/ipython-0.13-py2.6.egg', '/usr/lib/python2.6/site-packages/virtualenv-1.7.2-py2.6.egg', '/usr/lib64/python26.zip', '/usr/lib64/python2.6', '/usr/lib64/python2.6/plat-linux2', '/usr/lib64/python2.6/lib-tk', '/usr/lib64/python2.6/lib-old', '/usr/lib64/python2.6/lib-dynload', '/usr/lib64/python2.6/site-packages', '/usr/lib64/python2.6/site-packages/gtk-2.0', '/usr/lib/python2.6/site-packages', '/usr/lib/python2.6/site-packages/setuptools-0.6c11-py2.6.egg-info', '/var/www/html'] In my error_log of httpd: [Tue Jul 10 20:51:29 2012] [error] python_init: Python version mismatch, expected '2.6.7', found '2.6.8'. • apache proxy module gives 403 forbidden error

    - by naiquevin
I am trying to use the apache's proxy module for working with xmpp on ubuntu desktop. For this i did the following things - 1) enabled mod_proxy by creating a symlink of proxy.conf, proxy.load and proxy_http.load from /etc/apache2/mods-available/ in the mods-enabled directory. 2) Added the following lines to the vhost <Proxy http://mydomain.com/httpbind> Order allow, deny Allow from all </Proxy> ProxyPass /httpbind http://mydomain.com:7070/http-bind/ ProxyPassReverse /httpbind http://mydomain.com:7070/http-bind/ I am new to using the proxy module but what i can make from the above lines is that requests to http://mydomain.com/httpbind will be forwarded to http://mydomain.com:7070/http-bind/. Kindly correct if wrong. 3) added rule Allow from .mydomain.com in /mods-available/proxy.conf Now i try to access http://mydomain.com/httpbind and it shows 403 Forbidden error.. What am i missing here ? Please help. thanks Edit : The problem got solved when i changed the following code in mods_available/proxy.conf <Proxy *> AddDefaultCharset off Order deny, allow Deny from all Allow from mydomain.com </Proxy> to <Proxy *> AddDefaultCharset off Order deny, allow #Deny from all Allow from all </Proxy> Didnt get what was wrong with the initial code though

  • PATH_INFO in Apache is eating the first part of the path. Why?

    - by makenai
I'm writing a simple mod_perl handler that relies on $r-path_info() to do some request routing. However, I find that it's always eating the first part of PATH_INFO when mounted on root. Let's say that the handler just prints the value of $r-path_info: <Location /TEST> PerlHandler MyHandler </Location> Request: /TEST/123 Expected PATH_INFO: /123 Got PATH_INFO: /123 (yay!) <VirtualHost *:80> # or <Location /> for that matter PerlHandler MyHandler </VirtualHost> Request: /123 Expected PATH_INFO: /123 Got PATH_INFO: nothing! (boo!) Request: /TEST/123 Expected PATH_INFO: /TEST/123 Got PATH_INFO: /123 (boo!) What's happening here and how can I fix it to get the results I expect?

  • Apache setting mod_auth_ldap require settings per sub-directory

    - by Anthony
I would like to set up a primary directory that has one set of LDAP-based restrictions and then have various sub-directories use other restrictions, but only have the actual LDAP search done in the base directory. For example: .htaccess per directory /Primary_Directory AuthLDAPURL "ldap://ldap1.airius.com:389/ou=People, o=Airius?uid?sub?(objectClass=*)" Require group cn=admins ../Open2All Require valid-user ../No_Admins_Allowed Require group cn!=admins So basically, the primary directory (in this example) can only be accessed by users who are in the admins group, while the first sub-directory can be accessed by anyone in the directory, and the second sub-folder can be reached by anyone who is NOT in the admin-group. But I only want to set the Require line for the sub-directories, and not re-setup the LDAP query on each sub-directory. Is this possible, even though there are clear permissions conflicts from level to level? Does the deepest .htaccess file know that the Require line refers to the LDAP search in the parent folder?

  • Linking Apache to Tomcat with multiple domains.

    - by Royce Thigpen
Okay, so I've been working for a while on this, and have been searching, but so far I have not found any answers that actually answer what I want to know. I'm a little bit at the end of my rope with this one, but I'm hoping I can figure this out sometime soon. So I have Apache 2 installed and serving up standard webpages, but I also have that linked to a Tomcat instance for one of my domains currently supported. However, I want to add another domain to the server via Apache that points to a separate code base from the one I already have. I have been coming at this from several different angles, and I have determined that I just don't know enough about setting up these servers to really do what I want to do. Little information on my server: Currently running a single Tomcat5.5 instance with Apache 2, using mod_jk to connect them together. I have a worker in workers.properties that points it's "host" field to "localhost" with the correct port my Tomcat instance, so that all works. In my Tomcat server.xml file, I have a host defined as "localhost" that points at my webapp that I am currently serving up, with that host set as the defaultHost as well. One thought I had was that I could add a new worker with a different host than "localhost" (i.e. host2) and then define a new host in my server.xml file called "host2" to match it, but after reading around some on the internet, It seems the "host" of the worker must point to a server, and not a hostname in the Tomcat instance, is this correct? Again, a simple rundown of what I want: Setup in apache/tomcat combo such that www.domain1.com points at "webapp1" and www.domain2.com points at "webapp2".

  • Is there a way that I can force mod_perl to re-use buffer memory?

    - by Pavel Georgiev
Hi, I have a Perl script running in mod_perl that needs to write a large amount of data to the client, possibly over a long period. The behavior that I observe is that once I print and flush something, the buffer memory is not reclaimed even though I rflush (I know this can't be reclaimed back by the OS). Is that how mod_perl operates and is there a way that I can force it to periodically free the buffer memory, so that I can use that for new buffers instead of taking more from the OS?

  • how to get apache mod_cache work with mod_wsgi (django)?

    - by harmv
I thought i'd speed up my django projects, by letting apache doing some caching for me. Unfortunately I see that apache never caches my dynamic pages. Has mod_cache problems with mod_wsgi served code ? My apache config: <VirtualHost *:80 ServerName myserver.com CacheEnable mem / # for testing only CacheIgnoreQueryString On CacheIgnoreCacheControl On WSGIDaemonProcess aname processes=1 threads=25 WSGIProcessGroup aname Alias /media/ /home/harm/projects/test/media/ WSGIScriptAlias / /home/harm/projects/test/wsgi.py The response does have the correct caching headers: Content-Length 2647 Content-Encoding gzip Vary Accept-Encoding Cache-Control public, max-age=3600 Keep-Alive timeout=15, max=100 Connection Keep-Alive Content-Type application/x-javascript Am I missing something ?

  • Django + dbxml + Apache = problems. Any solutions?

    - by Jason
I'm trying to set up a Django application using WSGI. That works fine. However, I am having some issues with part of my Django app that uses BDB XML. My Apache config is as follows: Listen 8000 WSGISocketPrefix /tmp/wsgi <VirtualHost *:8000> ServerName <server name> DocumentRoot <path to doc root> LogLevel info WSGIScriptAlias / <path to wsgi> WSGIApplicationGroup %{GLOBAL} WSGIDaemonProcess debug threads=1 WSGIProcessGroup debug </VirtualHost> However, I'm still getting the following error: DB_ENV->repmgr_stat interface requires an environment configured for the replication subsystem [error] child died with signal 11 My environment is opened as: environment = DBEnv() environment.open( <absolute db env path>, DB_CREATE|DB_INIT_LOCK|DB_INIT_LOG|DB_INIT_MPOOL, 0 ) I am using: python 2.6.2 apache 2.2 ubuntu 9.04 dbxml 2.5.13 compiled from source (so libdb-4.8, bsddb3, all that jazz) I see Apache seems to link to libdb-4.6. • Wicket application + Apache + mod_jk - AJP queues are filling up!

    - by nojyarg
Dear community, We are having a Wicket-based Java application deployed in a production server cluster using Apache (2.2.3) with mod_jk (1.2.30) as load balancing component w/ sticky session and Jboss 5 as application container for the Java application. We are inconsistently seeing an issue in our production environment where our AJP queues between Apache and Jboss as shown in the JMX console fill up with requests to the point where the application server is no longer taking on any new requests. When looking at all involved system components (overall traffic, load db, process list db, load of all clustered application server nodes) nothing points towards a capacity issue which would explain why the calls are being stalled in the AJP queue. Instead all systems appear sufficiently idle. So far, our only remedy to this issue is to restart the appservers and the load balancer which only occasionally clears the AJP queues. We are trying to figure out why the queues are filling up to the point that no calls get returned to the end user although the system is not under a high load. Has anyone else experienced similar problems? Are there any other system metrics we should monitor that could explain the queuing behavior? Is this potentially a mod_jk issue? If so, is it advisable to swap mod_jk with mod_cluster to resolve the issue? Any advice is highly appreciated. If I can provide additional information for the sake of troubleshooting I would be more than willing to do so. /Ben

  • Making an asynchronous interface appear synchronous to mod_python users

    - by Trey
I have a Python-driven web interface powered by Apache 2.2 with mod_python and Python 2.4. I need to make an asynchronous process appear synchronous to users of this web interface. When users access one module on this website: An external SOAP interface will be contacted with a unique identifier and will respond with a number N The external interface will respond asynchronously by contacting a SOAP server on my machine between 1 and 10 times (the number N tells us how many responses we will receive) I need to somehow aggregate these responses and pass them to the original module which will display the information back to the user. The goal is to make the process appear synchronous to the user. What is the best way to handle this synchronization issue? Is this something Twisted would be well-suited for? I am not restricting myself to Python for the solution, though it is preferred because everything else on the server is in Python. I prefer a solution that is both scalable and will take a minimal amount of programming time (though I understand that these attributes are somewhat at odds).

  • Reload mod_fcgid without killing Python Service

    - by Tobias
Hi I'm currently running a Django project on my school's webserver with FCGI. I did follow the multiple guides that recommends installing a virtual local Python environment and it worked out great. The only issue i had was that "touching" my fcgi-file to reload source-files wasn't enough, but instead i had to kill the python service via SSH. This because mod_fcgid is used. However, the admin didn't think it was a great idea that i ran my own local python. He thought it better if i just told him what modules to install on root, which was a pretty nice service really. But doing this, i can no longer kill python since it's under root(though immoral as I am, I've definitely tried). The admins recommendation was that I should try too make the fcgi script reload itself by checking time stamp. I've tried to find documentation on how to do this, but fund very little and since I'm a absolute beginner i have no idea what would work. Anyone have experience running python/django under mod_fcgid or tips on where to find related guides/documentation?

  • mod_perl and libs

    - by paulj3000
Hi, I just installed my system with Oracle 64bit Linux5.4 running Apache Server version: Apache/2.2.3 and mod_perl 2. Now, I have my perl libraries set in a specific path: /my/perl/libs and I have adjusted my httpd.conf to compensate for this (I added the below): SetEnv MY_LIBS /my/perl/libs and in my cgi I'm setting my environment to compensate: use lib($ENV{'MY_LIBS'}); Now the problem: Sometimes my perl modules will recognize the path of /my/perl/libs and call all the functions appropriately, and sometimes they won't, thus thowing a 500 error. Some observations: when I restart apache (/etc/init.d/httpd restart), things work fine but then the 500 error comes up. Are there any ideas? What should I be looking at? Thanks

  • How do I use multiple settings file in Django with multiple sites on one server?

    - by William Bing Hua
I have an ec2 instance running Ubuntu 14.04 and I want to host two sites from it. On my first site I have two settings file, production_settings.py and settings.py (for local development). I import the local settings into the production settings and override any settings with the production settings file. Since my production settings file is not the default settings.py name, I have to create an environment variable DJANGO_SETTINGS_MODULE='site1.production_settings' However because of this whenever I try to start my second site it says No module named site1.production_settings I am assuming that this is due to me setting the environment variable. Another problem is that I won't be able to use different settings file for different sites. How do I start use two different settings file for two different websites?

  • Best (or appropriate) WSGI server for this Python script? - Python

    - by RadiantHex
Hi folks, I'm having quite a problem deciding how to serve a few Python scripts. The problem is that the basic functionality could be generalized by this: do_something() time.sleep(3) do_something() I tried various WSGI servers, but they have all been giving me concurrency limitations, as in I have to specify how many threads to use and so on. I only wish that the resources on the server be used efficiently and liberally. Any ideas?

  • Website image caching with Apache

    - by Piskvor
How can I get static content on Apache to be {cached by browser} and not {checked for freshness {with every request}}? I'm working on a website hosted on Apache webserver. Recently, I was testing something with headers (Content-Type for different types of content) and saw a lot of conditional requests for images. Example: 200 /index.php?page=1234&action=list 304 /favicon.ico 304 /img/logo.png 304 /img/arrow.png (etc.) Although the image files are static content and are cached by the browser, every time an user opens a page that links to them, they are conditionally requested, to which they send "304 Not Modified". That's good (less data transferred), but it means 20+ more requests with every page load (longer page load due to all those round-trips, even with Keep-Alive and pipelining enabled). How do I tell the browser to keep the existing file and not check for newer version? EDIT: the mod_expires method works, even with the favicon.

  • Error in django using Apache & mod_wsgi

    - by Ignacio
Hey, I've been doing some changes to my django develpment env, as some of you suggested. So far I've managed to configure and run it successfully with postgres. Now I'm trying to run the app using apache2 and mod_wsgi, but I ran into this little problem after I followed the guidelines from the django docs. When I access localhost/myapp/tasks this error raises: Request Method: GET Request URL: http://localhost/myapp/tasks/ Exception Type: TemplateSyntaxError Exception Value: Caught an exception while rendering: argument 1 must be a string or unicode object Original Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/local/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/django/template/debug.py", line 71, in render_node result = node.render(context) File "/usr/local/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/django/template/defaulttags.py", line 126, in render len_values = len(values) File "/usr/local/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/django/db/models/query.py", line 81, in __len__ self._result_cache = list(self.iterator()) File "/usr/local/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/django/db/models/query.py", line 238, in iterator for row in self.query.results_iter(): File "/usr/local/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/django/db/models/sql/query.py", line 287, in results_iter for rows in self.execute_sql(MULTI): File "/usr/local/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/django/db/models/sql/query.py", line 2369, in execute_sql cursor.execute(sql, params) File "/usr/local/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/django/db/backends/util.py", line 19, in execute return self.cursor.execute(sql, params) TypeError: argument 1 must be a string or unicode object ... ... ... And then it highlights a {% for t in tasks %} template tag, like the source of the problem is there, but it worked fine on the built-in server. The view associated with that page is really simple, just fetch all Task objects. And the template just displays them on a table. Also, some pages get rendered ok. Don't want to fill this Question with code, so if you need some more info I'd be glad to provide it. Thanks

  • Configure Django project in a subdirectory using mod_python. Admin not working.

    - by David
HI guys. I was trying to configure my django project in a subdirectory of the root, but didn't get things working.(LOcally it works perfect). I followed the django official django documentarion to deploy a project with mod_python. The real problem is that I am getting "Page not found" errors, whenever I try to go to the admin or any view of my apps. Here is my python.conf file located in /etc/httpd/conf.d/ in Fedora 7 LoadModule python_module modules/mod_python.so SetHandler python-program PythonHandler django.core.handlers.modpython SetEnv DJANGO_SETTINGS_MODULE mysite.settings PythonOption django.root /mysite PythonDebug On PythonPath "['/var/www/vhosts/mysite.com/httpdocs','/var/www/vhosts/mysite.com/httpdocs/mysite'] + sys.path" I know /var/www/ is not the best place to put my django project, but I just want to send a demo of my work in progress to my customer, later I will change the location. For example. If I go to www.domain.com/mysite/ I get the index view I configured in mysite.urls. But I cannot access to my app.urls (www.domain.com/mysite/app/) and any of the admin.urls.(www.domain.com/mysite/admin/) Here is mysite.urls: urlpatterns = patterns('', url(r'^admin/password_reset/$', 'django.contrib.auth.views.password_reset', name='password_reset'), (r'^password_reset/done/$', 'django.contrib.auth.views.password_reset_done'), (r'^reset/(?P<uidb36>[0-9A-Za-z]+)-(?P<token>.+)/$', 'django.contrib.auth.views.password_reset_confirm'), (r'^reset/done/$', 'django.contrib.auth.views.password_reset_complete'), (r'^$', 'app.views.index'), (r'^admin/', include(admin.site.urls)), (r'^app/', include('mysite.app.urls')), (r'^photologue/', include('photologue.urls')), ) I also tried changing admin.site.urls with ''django.contrib.admin.urls' , but it didn't worked. I googled a lot to solve this problem and read how other developers configure their django project, but didn't find too much information to deploy django in a subdirectory. I have the admin enabled in INSTALLED_APPS and the settings.py is ok. Please if you have any guide or telling me what I am doing wrong it will be much appreciated. THanks.

  • Problem compiling mod_wsgi for python2.6 on Cent OS 5.3

    - by webdev
I am running a website on CentOS 5.3. I understand centos will break if the default python 2.4 is upgraded. I followed this site (http://www.question-defense.com/2009/12/25/how-to-install-python-2-6-on-centos-5-without-breaking-yum) and got python 2.6 installed. Now if I run "python" it runs python2.4 and if I run "python26" it runs python2.6. I am trying to compile mod_wsgi-3.2. When it run ./configure it takes only python 2.4 environment. I have tried using the --with-python=/usr/bin/python26. That way, "make" command does not work. Can someone throw some light on this? Thanks in advance

  • Using mod_negotiation to serve webp if the UA requests it.

    - by Rich Bradshaw
Is it possible to use mod_negotiation to serve up a webp image if the browser supports it, and a jpg otherwise? For instance, if I link to an image with the path /images/test, it serves the image found at /images/test.webp if the UA knows about webp, or jpg otherwise? I've tried poking around, but it seems that the Accept headers in Chrome at least look like Accept:*/*, rather than specifying the image type. If this isn't the way to do it, has anyone got any other suggestions?

  • Redirecting http to https for a directory, via .htaccess, using mod_alias only

    - by Belinda
I have the common problem of wanting to redirect requests for a certain restricted access directory from http to https, so that users' login credentials are sent in a secure way. However, I do not have mod_rewrite enabled on my server. I only have mod_alias. This means I have to use the RedirectMatch command. I can't use the usual solutions that use RewriteCond and RewriteRule. (A note on the politics: I am a small-fry subsite maintainer in a very large organisation, so the server admins are unlikely to be willing to change the server config for me!) The following line works, but forms an infinite loop (because the rewritten URL is still caught by the initial regular expression): RedirectMatch permanent ^/intranet(.*)$ https://example.com/intranet$1 One of my internal IT guys has suggested I avoid the infinite loop by moving the files to a new directory with a new name (eg /intranet2/). That seems pretty ugly to me. And people could still accidentally/deliberately revert to an insecure connection by visiting http://example.com/intranet2/ directly. Then I tried this, but it didn't work: RedirectMatch permanent ^http:(.*)/intranet(.*)$ https://example.com/intranet$1 I suspect it didn't work because the first argument must be a file path from the root directory, so it can't start with "http:". So: any better ideas how to do this?
