    So, I was at TechEd 2010 talking a lot about Office 2010 solutions development last week and love was in the airmostly because I gave out hundreds of t-shirts with our www.iheartmacros.com URL on them.     Hi everyone, my name is Joash Mitei. I am a graduate Intern at Oracle Systems Kenya and I will briefly take you through our offices and the working environment here in Nairobi, Kenya. I’ve been with Oracle since February 2012 and I’m responsible for Applications Pre-sales focusing on Oracle EPM and E-Business Suite. My background is Finance and Accounting therefore joining Oracle was almost a totally a different ball game but the transition has been smooth. The Oracle offices here are located on the second floor of Mebank Towers. We moved to the 2nd floor just three months ago from the 5th floor mainly because of the growing workforce. We are covering the whole Eastern Africa region hence diversity in culture is evident. This is a plus since you get to interact with people of very different backgrounds, cultures and ways of thinking. The building itself is on the outskirts of the CBD hence free from the hustle and bustle of the town. The office is split into different sections; there is a main working area which has an open desk design that fosters interaction between colleagues, there are 4 conference rooms for meetings and presentations, there are 3 quiet rooms for a little privacy when needed and there is a dining area for meals and ‘hanging out’. The working environment is world-class, to say the least. The employees are very professional, quite smart and needless to say, very busy. There are 4 interns covering sales and pre-sales in both Tech and Apps. As an intern you get support from your supervisor but you are required to show initiative yourself and thus the need to be very pro-active and inquisitive. The local management is well structured and communicative to ensure effectiveness and efficiency in the office. Apart from the daily work, we usually have events to boost staff morale such as ‘TGIF hang -out’, football matches against each other or versus other companies, and team building retreats. All these are monumental in fostering the RED POTENTIAL. We also do numerous CSR activities in the local communities . Well, that’s the Kenyan office for you. Glad to be your tour guide.   • What's currently the best way to extend Excel using C#?

    I have the professional versions of VS2008 & VS2010. I wish to add a couple buttons to a toolbar in Excel. When they are clicked I'd like to be able to open a form (either WinForms or WPF is fine) collect a few values from the user in the form and then take that data + read cell values from the current worksheet to perform some database operations. What's currently the best way to do this using C#? I'd greatly appreciate a pointer to any examples / tutorials. My understanding is that VS2010 has improved the process alot but I may have to deal w/ Excel 2003 which I don't think it supports. I get confused between Visual Studio 2008s Extensibility-Shared Addin template and other Office Addin templates I've seen. I'm not sure when which type of solution is appropriate. I'm new to Office development so I'd really appreciate any help to get me going on the right track. Thanks much.

  • How do I increase maximum attachment size in Exchange 2007 SP1?

    I've been looking all over for a relatively simple answer to a fairly straightforward question: "how do I increase the maximum size of attachments that can be sent and/or received in Exchange 2007?". But I have yet to find a solution that works. We have a pretty straightforward setup: Exchange 2007 SP1 running on a single server, with the OWA role delegated to a second server. We did a clean install of Exchange 2007 a year or two ago: we did not upgrade from a previous version. I forget if we installed RTM and then patched it to SP1, or if we installed with SP1 already baked in. I just thought I'd mention those items, in case they influence the answer. So far, I've tried running the following Powershell commands on the main Exchange server and verified that they've taken effect: Set-TransportConfig -MaxReceiveSize 40MB Set-ReceiveConnector "RcvConnector" -MaxMessageSize 40MB Set-MaxReceiveSize "MailboxName" -MaxReceiveSize 40MB As of right now, though, the specified mailbox is still rejecting messages over 10MB. You get brownie points if you can also tell me how to set the default mailbox attachment size limits, so that new accounts don't have default Set-MaxReceiveSize values of "unlimited" they currently do. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Tx in advance!

  • Show Recent Documents in Sharepoint

    Hello, I want to display the list of recently added documents to any (or a few) library in a Sharepoint site. Unfortunately, there is no Content Query Web Part in the Web Part list. Also, I can't deploy any custom code. I came up with the idea, to create workflows for each library, which will copy the uploaded document to a "Recent Documents" library. But my client does not want this solution, saying that it will increase the storage usage. He also says that he saw this done in another Sharepoint site and insists on that the whole thing shouldn't be a problem, cause it's a basic Sharepoint function. Perhaps he is right, perhaps he is not. Either way, I'm to solve this. Thank you.

  • Sharepoint Lists.GetListItems Method rowLimit problem

    In SharePoint I am using the default view of a list. When I use GetListItems method I can pass into it the following: public XmlNode GetListItems ( string listName, string viewName, XmlNode query, XmlNode viewFields, string rowLimit, XmlNode queryOptions, string webID ) I am passing in "" for the viewName and am passing a rowLimit of 1000. By Default view only returns 100 items. 100 Items are still being returned not 1000. Can you use the rowLimit when not specifying a view? Is it possible to bring back 1000 items using the query instead? I do not really want to use a GUID for the viewName as I would have to look it up for each list and perform a big refactor. Update I am now using the guid of the view and my list still returns the incorrect number of items. I know the guid is being used as I sued an incorrect one and it errord out. Any ideas what could be wrong?     When I try and save something to my list in SharePoint I get the following error: Unable to complete this operation. I have checked my server and the smallest amount of space left on any of the drives is ~4GB. The file size is 1MB. I have checked the database and the data file is on unrestricted growth. Any ideas?

    Hi All, Is it possible to hyperlink a url in excel automatically. I mean when the cell starts with something like http or www can I hyperlink that. Currently, I have to hit enter in the cell value in the formula bar to make the link as clickable. Also if I change the value in the cell, the link doesnt get refreshed until I hit enter. Is there a way in excel where it will automatically detect and apply a hyperlink.

    Hi there, I'm having problems with a cascading combo box. Everything works fine with the combo boxes and the values get populated correctly. Everything works fine and dandy moving between records and the boxes show the correct fields for each record. When i use the first combo box, and then select the appropriate option in the second combo box, everything works great on the specific record. However when I move to the next record, the values in the second combo box are all empty. If i close the form and reopen it, and avoid using the cascading combo boxes all the values are all correct when i move between records. Somehow using the cascading combo boxes creates a conflict with the row source of the secondary combo box. Hope that is clear!     User 'X' is the site-collection owner. He tries to upload a 500kb file into a document library, got the error "The server has aborted your upload. The files selected may exceed the server's upload size limit. If you are transfering a large group of files, try uploading fewer at a time." however web-application owners are able to upload the file. what would be the issue, any thoughts? Upload size limit for a file – 5 MB Site Quota template set – 50 MB Used Site Quota – 10 MB file format: pdf file size : 500kb file is on : desktop special characters : no Os : xP IE : 6.0 .Net : 3.5 any thoughts?

  • Excel Prorated SUMIF

    I have a worksheet with 2 columns, one is a dollar amount, and the other is a day of the month (1 through 31) that the dollar amount is due by (the dollars are income streams). So, I use the following formula to SUM all the income streams due on or before a certain day: =SUMIF(C5:C14, "<="&$B$42,B5:B14) Column C is the due day B42 is the cell in which I input the day to compare to like "15" for "total of all income due on or before the 15th" - the idea is to have a sum of all income received for the period. Column B is the dollar amount for each income stream. My question is: Some of the income streams don't have a day next to them (the day cell in column C is blank). That means that that income stream doesn't come in as a check or a chunk on a certain date, it trickles in roughly evenly through out the month. So if the amount for the income stream is $10,000 and the day is 15 in a 30 day month, then I should add $5,000 to the total. That would be something like: =SUMIF(C5:C14, "",???) So where the due date is blank, select ???. ??? isn't just the number, it's the number*(given_day/total_days_in_month). So I think what I need for an accurate total is: =SUMIF(C5:C14, "<="&$B$42,B5:B14) + SUMIF(C5:C14, "",???) But I'm not sure how to write that exactly.

    I have a sharepoint custom list which has 5 columns ..the user should fill in first three columns and the other two should be locked..when the user enters the items and start the workflow if the workflow gets approved the 3 columns should be locked for editing and then the other two should be available for editing .
