• Derby 10.9.1.0 released

In addition to the usual chunk of bug fixes, this release includes the following new features: NATIVE authentication, a new authentication mechanism with better support for managing credentials. • Google Analytics goal funnel does not recognize virtual page views

  I have a setup wizard with 3 steps. Since I'm using AJAX each step uses a virtual pageview with an appropriate URL for each step (see below). The pageviews are being recorded in the Content section of Google Analytics but the Goal Funnel still shows zero for each step. I've tried advise on other forums such as... Make sure Goal URL is set to Exact match Make sure no steps or the Goal URL are a parent directory of any other steps. For example, don't track /wizard/ as a Goal/step and track /wizard/step2/. Not sure why this would be a problem since it is an exact match, but it shouldn't hurt so I tried it... Require (or don't require - tried both) the first step in the funnel ...but none of these seem to work. Thoughts? • xrdp setup over ssh

  Here are the steps to install xrdp on ubuntu 12.04 and get it working: http://www.ubuntututorials.com/remote-desktop-ubuntu-12-04-windows-7/ However, I want a secure xrdp connection over ssh and I am able to achieve it by using port forwarding in the software putty as below: L1234 == localhost:3389 But I am still able to remote login to the ubuntu through xrdp connection when I am not connected using SSH. It is supposed to deny remote login when SSH is not present. In the file /etc/xrdp/xrdp.ini I tried to change the [global] section by adding "ip=127.0.0.1" and it didn't work.

  JavaFX 2.1.1 released on June 12, and few documents were updated on the docs.oracle.com/javafx website. Besides a new set of release documentation, the Concurrency in JavaFX article was updated with a discussion of how to cancel a task, with a code sample to illustrate that. A new section describes the WorkerStateEvent class and how to use the convenience methods such as cancelled, failed, running, scheduled, and succeeded, which are invoked when the Worker implementation state changes. Other documents were updated to reflect minor bug fixes, many of them contributed by JavaFX readers using the feedback alias in the sidebar of all of our documentation. Yes, we do respond and pay attention to what you say and at least try to point you in the right direction if we can't solve a problem you're having with a tutorial. We appreciate your feedback!

• How can I change this isometric engine to make it so that you could distinguish between blocks that are on different planes?

  I have been working on an isometric minecraft-esque game engine for a strategy game I plan on making. As you can see, it really needs some sort of shading. It is difficult to distinguish between separate elevations when the camera is facing away from the slope because everything is the same shade. So my question is: can I shade just a specific section of a sprite? All of those blocks are just sprites, so if I shaded the entire image, it would shade the whole block. I am using LWJGL.   There is a news website / blog - I'll call it the Site from now on. The site mention a keyword in one of its articles. I add a Google Alerts for the keyword, but I do not get any alert for the word from The Site. Furthermore, searching the keyword in the news section don't getting any results from The Site. The Site has a sitemap, that indexed by Google every x minutes. And in the main search, searching for a news title bring the item on the top. What are the best ways to get included in Google Alerts mails?

• Application lens as default

  I want to open the Application lens in the Unity Dash as the default lens, since I much more open a programm then searching for a wikipedia article, the weather or anything else the home lens offers. Here How do I show the Applications Lens By Default? and here What are Unity's keyboard and mouse shortcuts? are the same questions, but the suggested answers don't work anymore on Trusty. I know that I can open the application lens with Super + A but I just would like to press Super to open it. An alternative would be to only get online suggestions whe partikular asked for them, but even though I just select the application scope in the filter section I get some useles online results. Btw. I don't want to open the online search results in generall, since I just reactivated them to try it out.

Most of the times people hear "forum" they imagine unresponsive phpBB with terrible color scheme and unnecessarily huge user info sections (avatar, signature) about 600px high each, which make it impossible to see more than 5 posts on a really big screen. I'd like it to be the other way around with my future forum. The game will be a platformer which will use tile maps, so to start i will create a mask matrix indicating the tiles to be loaded, and etc..., so my problem is, how to handle the scrolling? should i create a giant mask matrix indicating in each position of the whole level what is supposed to be loaded, and according to the position of the player, change the section to be drawed?? Is this a correct approach to this situation??

• Joomla: Prevent certain user from visiting a certain page

  I have an internal section in my Joomla only for "Registered" users. There they can edit preferences. Multiple users can access the same preferences (different stakeholders). Now I have "smithcorp" and "smithcorp_guest". They should both be able to view the same things, but "smithcorp_guest" shouldn't be able to edit the preferences. Is there a way to forbid "smithcorp_guest" access to this page? I have only seen access regulation via the user level, i.e. unregistered, registered, admin. Thanks, MrB

• Is it possible to track an outsourced adwords campaign?

  We have a site that is paying a 3rd party to run adwords campaigns on our behalf. They do this using their own Adwords account and so we are unable to link it to our Google Analytics account. We do have our own Adwords account for the site which is linked but the majority of campaigns are being run by this 3rd party. At the moment, in our Adwords reports (ie the Adwords section within Google Analytics) we are seeing that for the majority of visits the campaign and keyword data is not set. I am assuming that this is because even though the visit is being recognised as coming from an Adwords account, because it is not the Adwords account linked to our Analytics account, we don't get sent the campaign and keyword information. Is this correct and if so is there a way that we can start tracking this information so that we can see for ourselves how the campaigns are performing? Many thanks

  If you've added a poorly written webpart to your 'default.aspx' page, the consequence of this action will be that you won't be able to load the page anymore... Don't be sad, there is still a way to remove the webpart from the page :) (Yes, even removing the webpart from the webpart gallery would not solve this issue).Steps to fix this:1. Append the following query string to your URL: ?Contents=1.Once you've added Contents=1 as a query string to the webpart page's URL it will display the Webpart Maintenance Page. Example: http://mysharepointserver/default.aspx?contents=12. On that page you can now see the webparts added to the page, delete the problematic webpart.Now try reloading the default.aspx page... Tadaaa!!! you can view your page again :)3. Leave a thank you note @ comments section :)

  I'm trying to determine the best possible schema.org type to declare for the content section in the template of a content management system, which will handle regular news posts for small, local hospitality businesses. The type should represent the content of that page, which is likely to be a wide range of things. The description for Article pretty strongly encourages its use to be limited to the articles of a publication. For purely semantic reasons, I'm not sure if Blog is appropriate in this case -- businesses won't be creating typical "blog" content but are more likely to be writing about upcoming events, special deals, awards, etc. Would Webpage be appropriate in this instance? Although I'm a fan of the schema.org concept, I frequently find myself unsure how broadly or narrowly I'm meant to infer the meaning of a type. In such cases, is it safe to use a high-level element, such as CreativeWork, or does this blunt the usefulness of the markup?

I posted a section on the docs to reach people that wants to help translating but I only got one contributor that attached a German translation. So far I got 4 languages, English, Spanish, French and German. So my question is, how do you guys translate your projects? Where do you find people interested in contributing? • How do I get Chromium to show PDFs using Evince?

  Is there any way to get Chromium to use a mozpluggerrc/evince combination to show PDFs embedded into its own window? Right now, Chromium is just downloading PDFs. I can open them in an external evince window by clicking on the downloaded file. I am using Chrome 18.0.1025.168 under Ubuntu 12.04 (amd64). Here's the pdf section of my /etc/mozpluggerrc.d/62-documents.conf: application/pdf:pdf:PDF file application/x-pdf:pdf:PDF file text/pdf:pdf:PDF file text/x-pdf:pdf:PDF file repeat noisy swallow(evince) fill needs_xembed: evince "$file" mozpluggerrc does show up in about:plugins. BTW, this works just fine in Firefox. Note: I am not looking for hints on how to use Google Chrome's PDF plugin in Chromium.

• How do I configure multiple domain names on my IIS server? [closed]

  We have a few websites that we are running on one instance of IIS that need to be mapped for each of their domain names. For example. Site A has the domain name coolness.com Site B has the domain name 6to8Weeks.com Site C has the domain name PhatTech.com When I look at the "Web Site Identification" section of the IIS configuration window, I notice that I can specify an IP address and port, but if I click the Advanced button, I can also configure the site based on host header values as well. How do I configure each site in IIS? Ideally I would like them to all be able to listen to port 80, so I don't have weird URLs, but I'm not sure if I do this using headers, IP addresses, both, or something else.

• What most games would benefit from having

  I think I've seen "questions" like this on stackoverflow but sorry if I'm overstepping any bounds. Inspired by my recent question and all the nice answers (Checklist for finished game?) I think every gamedev out there has something he/she thinks that almost every game should have. That knowledge is welcome here! So this is probably going to be an inspirational subjective list of some sorts and the point is that anyone reading this question will see a point or two that they've overlooked in their own development and might benefit from adding. I think a good example might be: "some sort of manual or help section. Of course it should be proportional to how advanced the game is. Some users won't need it and won't go looking for it but the other ones that do will become very frustrated if they can't remember how to do something specific that should be in the manual". A bad example might be "good gameplay". Of course every game benefits from this but the answer is not very helpful.

• Ubuntu 12.04 - no wireless network recognized

  I just installed Ubntu 12.04 along with WIN7 on the same laptop - Dell Vostro-3560. Now, on Win7 i can access to different wi-fi networks. However, when i am logging onto the Ubuntu section (after re-starting my laptop) - an error message appears: "Disconnected - you are now offline". When i take a look at my network menu (in the upper bar on the screen), i see that no network is found (and i have a few of them in the area...). I tried to look around but really could not find a concrete practical solution to this specific problem, would appreciate any solution from anyone out there that had this problem and solved it. • Where does UBB store its settings?

  We're moving a UBB forum from one host to another. (This is temporary; we're going to replace the forum eventually, but moving hosts has a higher priority.) We don't have a lot of experience with UBB, so we're feeling our way along in the dark. We got the UBB code installed on the new host, and we've done a dry-run database export from the original site to the new site. However, almost everything set in UBB's Control Panel section didn't come with the database export. If UBB doesn't store this data in the database, where is it stored? And if it is in the database, why would it not show up in a new forum when the database is imported? Did we somehow miss a table?

• How can I get gcc to write a file larger than 2.0 GB?

  I wanted to recompile 'xxd' (written in C), so I installed CodeBlocks as the IDE. All seemed to go well unil I discovered that I couldn't write past the 2.0 GB barrier... I've read that 'gcc' needs to be recompiled... (That sounds a bit dramatic..) I've read that I can use 'fread64()' instead of 'fread()' ... (didn't work) I've read something about a compiler options (?)... but I get lost at that point? I am surprised that it didn't work out-of-the-box, as I thought the 2.0 GB limit was ancient history as far as defaults go ... wrong again?:( My OS is 32-bit, on 32-bit hardware. The gcc version report in as: gcc (Ubuntu 4.4.3-4ubuntu5) 4.4.3 Is there a simple way around this issue? PS.. I was fascinated by the WARNINGS: section of 'info xxd' (..only on Linux ;)
