  Firstly i changed color borders of my sheet to white, because i want to have a white sheet. Then i made some headers and want to make border around it. The Problem is it made borders between the values in header but top, down are not seenable. • Alpha transparent PNGs not displaying correctly in Mobile Safari

  I'm using some semi-transparent PNGs as background-images on various websites. These are usually something like a 1x1 image with a 30-percent opaque white layer. I've noticed that Mobile Safari does not display them correctly, giving them a darker/grayish tint. I've created a couple test pages to illustrate. View them both in your normal browser, and then on Mobile Safari, and you should see what I mean. • OpenGLES mix and match blending options complicated question

  So I have a background line drawing, black and white. I want to be able to draw over this, keeping the black lines in there, and drawing only where it is white. I can do this by using glBlendFunc(GL_DST_COLOR, GL_ONE_MINUS_SRC_ALPHA); And the black stays black and white gets whatever color I want. However in the white areas, I want to be able to draw some color, pick to another color and then blend. However this doesn't work because the blend function is messed up. So what I was thinking is having a linedrawing framebuffer, and a user-drawing framebuffer. The user draws into the userdrawing framebuffer, with a different blending, and then I switch blending options and draw into the linedrawing framebuffer. But i don't know enough OpenGL to say whether or not this will work or is a stupid idea. Thanks a lot

  I've got a UINavigationController and i've changed it to white using the Tint property of the navigation bar in Interface Builder. But the text in buttons and the title is still the default color, white, and so gets lost against the white background. Anyone know how to work around this?

• Why does calling IEnumerable<string>.Count() create an additional assembly dependency ?

  Assume this chain of dll references Tests.dll >> Automation.dll >> White.Core.dll with the following line of code in Tests.dll, where everything builds result.MissingPaths Now when I change this to result.MissingPaths.Count() I get the following build error for Tests.dll "White.UIItem is not defined in an assembly that is not referenced. You must add a reference to White.Core.dll." And I don't want to do that because it breaks my layering. Here is the type definition for result, which is in Automation.dll public class HasResult { public HasResult(IEnumerable<string> missingPaths ) { MissingPaths = missingPaths; } public IEnumerable<string> MissingPaths { get; set; } public bool AllExist { get { return !MissingPaths.Any(); } } } Down the call chain the input param to this ctor is created via (The TreeNode class is in White.Core.dll) assetPaths.Where(assetPath => !FindTreeNodeUsingCache(treeHandle, assetPath)); Why does this dependency leak when calling Count() on IEnumerable ? I then suspected that lazy evaluation was causing this (for some reason) - so I slotted in an ToArray() in the above line but didn't work. Update 2011 01 07: Curiouser and Curiouser! it won't build until I add a White.Core reference. So I add a reference and build it (in order to find the elusive dependency source). Open it up in Reflector and the only references listed are Automation, mscorlib, System.core and NUnit. So the compiler threw away the White reference as it was not needed. ILDASM also confirms that there is no White AssemblyRef entry. Any ideas on how to get to the bottom of this thing (primarily for 'now I wanna know why' reasons)? What are the chances that this is an VS2010/MSBuild bug? Update 2011 01 07 #2 As per Shimmy's suggestion, tried calling the method explcitly as an extension method Enumerable.Count(result.MissingPaths) and it stops cribbing (not sure why). However I moved some code around after that and now I'm getting the same issue at a different location using IEnumerable - this time reading and filtering lines out of a file on disk (totally unrelated to White). Seems like it's a 'symptom-fix'. var lines = File.ReadLines(aFilePath).ToArray(); once again, if I remove the ToArray() it compiles again - it seems that any method that causes the enumerable to be evaluated (ToArray, Count, ToList, etc.) causes this. Let me try and get a working tiny-app to demo this issue... Update 2011 01 07 #3 Phew! More information.. It turns out the problem is just in one source file - this file is LINQ-phobic. Any call to an Enumerable extension method has to be explicitly called out. • Word-wrap grid cells in Ext JS

  (This is not a question per se, I'm documenting a solution I found using Ext JS 3.1.0. But, feel free to answer if you know of a better solution!) The Column config for an Ext JS Grid object does not have a native way to allow word-wrapped text, but there is a css property to override the inline CSS of the TD elements created by the grid. Unfortunately, the TD elements contain a DIV element wrapping the content, and that DIV is set to white-space:nowrap by Ext JS's stylesheet, so overriding the TD CSS does no good. I added the following to my main CSS file, a simple fix that appears to not break any grid functionality, but allows any white-space setting I apply to the TD to pass through to the DIV. .x-grid3-cell { /* TD is defaulted to word-wrap. Turn it off so it can be turned on for specific columns. */ white-space:nowrap; } .x-grid3-cell-inner { /* Inherit DIV's white-space from TD parent, since DIV's inline style is not accessible in the column definition. */ white-space:inherit; } YMMV, but it works for me, wanted to get it out there as a solution since I couldn't find a working solution by searching the Interwebs.

• CSS - changing the font color for a from select option in firefox

  I'm building a website for my church, and I'm teaching myself all about web design along the way. http://www.wilmingtonchurchofgod.org/contact_us.html is the link where you can see my issue. If you look at that page in firefox, and you click the select part of the form (next to, "Who would you like to contact?") you will see that when you hover over a choice, the font is white. I have tried various things to fix this, but can't find a solution. This seems to be specific to Firefox. • Override transparency color when converting transparent PNG to JPG

  I'm using Dragonfly to generate thumbnail images in a Rails app. I'm serving all picture images as JPG's. Now the client is uploading transparent PNG files, like this one: http://www.ibanez.co.jp/products/images/eg2010/ART120_TRF_12_02.png Dragonfly uses RMagick to convert these images to JPG. The problem is that it converts the PNG images to JPG with a black background, and my site's design requires a white background. I've tried to override it like this: encoded_image = Magick::Image.from_blob(image.data).first if encoded_image.format.downcase == format image # do nothing else encoded_image.format = format encoded_image.background_color = "white" encoded_image.transparent_color = "white" encoded_image.to_blob end But the produced JPG images still contain a black background. Does anyone know how to beat RMagick into using a white background when converting the transparent layer? I know I could just serve as PNG, but then the images are 10 times as large, and the site is already pretty bandwidth heavy.

  I've a web server and a separate SQL server. I'm trying to use transaction scope to ensure that SQL queries are completed with my linq queries. I wrap everything with this using (TransactionScope scope = new TransactionScope()) I want to know where I need to install DTC. Do I need to install it on the IIS 7.5 box AND the SQL server? Do I need to unblock some ports? Are there any security risk in doing so? I've setup this up once before but don't remember how. If I can't get access to DTC then is there any other way to ensure a lINQ and sql query is atomic?

• Changing Color with LinearLayout and TextView in Java (Android)

  I'm a relatively new Android developer and I noticed what seems like an oddity to me that I'm hoping someone can explain. I have LinearLayout ll. This line of code fails for me when executed: ll.setBackgroundColor(R.color.white); However this line of code works: ll.setBackgroundResource(R.color.white); I assume its simply because I have white defined in my resources. However, I've also tried passing 0xFFFFFF in setBackgroundColor() and that doesn't work either. Similarly with my TextView text this line of code fails when executed: text.setTextColor(R.color.white); I can see my TextView so I know I initialized it correctly (like my LinearLayout which I can also see). So I guess my question boils down to: How do I properly use LinearLayout.setBackgroundColor() and TextView.setTextColor() ? Thanks a ton in advance. I've read through the docs and tried to find information online via googling and haven't come up with anything.

• Changing UI color in Eclipse

  I'm aware of this topic: I've used it to change most of the editor colors, and that's great. But that wasn't enought, there's still too much white (and I need to change it because it hurts my eyes). I've searched in the preferences (both using Eclipse itself and editing the files) for instances of while (255,255,255) and changed them all. The add_shown fires when the ModalPopupExtender had shown and add_hiding fires when the user cancels it by CancelControlID,note that it fires before hiding the modal.   i cant seem t figure out what is going on here. The Linux machine I am using is running as a VM on a Win7 machine using Virtual Box running as a service. • Simple image editor to select area of image as wallpaper

  I've spent way to many hours looking for software to do the following simple task, so now I'll ask. I need software that will open an image and put a 'crop box' on it. You can set the 'crop box' to standard screen resolutions (1024x768) or define a custom one. You can move the 'crop box' around on the image to select the area you want. You can re-size the 'crop box' (selecting a corner and dragging w/mouse) and it maintains the correct aspect ratio. You can save the area in the 'crop box' to use as the Windows background. (The software doesn't need to set it as the background, I can do that myself in Windows XP.) The free software sites (CNET.com, etc.) have lots of image editing software that do things much more complicated than this simple task. I've spent too many hours downloading them to see if they will do this particular task. The ones I've tried would require manual trial and error to get the part of an image that I want saved as an image, with the correct aspect ratio so Windows doesn't screw with it (stretch, tile, crop) when I select it as the wallpaper.

• Replicate / SYNC / Copy thousands of files

  Windows 32BIT Box (Server OS) 4GB RAM a 800GB LUN Mapped to the above box as a local drive Around 700GB of text files (Yes text files and a few thousand word documents) nested in thousands of directories. I need to move this to a new storage and map another server to it. What would be the best way to go about it ? What I did was mapped the existing LUN to our new box and mapped a LUN from the New storage to the new box too, and tried copying (windows copy) but that wasn't good / fast enough considering the downtime. I am now looking for either a script which will do this or a utility (prefer opensource / free) to move this size of data at a good speed. 2 x 1GB Nics teamed ether channel 2GBPs Any suggestions or pointers would be off great help Thanks !

• Sharing files between Mac Mini and Ubuntu

  I want to get files off a Ubuntu box (10.04) and transfer them to a Mac Mini. I am connecting the two directly with a piece of network cable (Its not crossover, but I am told the Mini can handle this). The Ubuntu box has Samba installed(I think), but no internet connection. When I create a shared folder in Ubuntu it doest show up in Mac OS. But the Ubunutu box is appearing in the 'Shared' section in Mac Finder. Help

• Apache times out after 2 minutes, when Apache TimeOut is 1200

  We have a set up where the browser makes an http request to Box A which in turn makes an http request to Box B. What we're encountering is that Box A waits for Box B to respond for two minutes then the users sees: The page cannot be displayed Explanation: There is a problem with the page you are trying to reach and it cannot be displayed. Try the following: * Refresh page: Search for the page again by clicking the Refresh button. The timeout may have occurred due to Internet congestion. * Check spelling: Check that you typed the Web page address correctly. The address may have been mistyped. * Access from a link: If there is a link to the page you are looking for, try accessing the page from that link. Technical Information (for support personnel) * Error Code: 404 Not Found. The requested item could not be located. (12028) Watching the logs on Box B we see that it takes 5 minutes to do the work requested. The problem is that the apache time outs on both boxes are set 1200 (20m), not 120 (2m). Any ideas where to look?

• Loose component cables causing HDMI video problems

  I'm not sure this is the correct forum, but I'll ask anyway. I have an A/V setup at home that has something like the following: Five Components (actually a few more, like a CD player, but they don't really relate to this question): Older Pioneer Receiver Digital Set Top Box Sony BluRay Player Samsung Plasma TV Speakers The reason for the receiver is so that all the sound can go through the speakers, rather than some going to the TV speakers and some to the external speakers. They are connected as follows: Digital Set Top Box connects via component video to Samsung TV directly via Component 2 (audio goes to Older Pioneer Receiver). Sony BluRay player is connected via HDMI 1 to TV, but audio goes to the receiver. Now, the problem I'm having is that when I have the digital set top box connected, there are times when the Netflix or Hulu streams I watch through the Sony BluRay player (it's connected to a router for internet access) will lose video. What I mean by this is that the sound of the episode will keep playing, but the screen will go black. If I jiggle the component cables, it will often come back. If I disconnect the component cables, it will always come back. I've noticed that one of the connections (the red component cable) doesn't like to sit very well in the component socket in the back of the digital set top box. It seems like there is a bad connection here, but it doesn't seem like this should be affecting the HDMI input at all. What I've noticed, though, is that when I disconnect the digital set top box completely (i.e. remove the component cable from the back of the TV), the problem seems to resolve itself. I'm not talking about actually removing the cable physically, because I thought perhaps the cables were mashing against one another, and possibly jiggling each other loose. To correct this possible problem, I took the component cable completely out of the cable ties it was in in the back of my entertainment center, as well as pulled the digital set top box out from the entertainment center altogether. It's now connected directly to the TV, without any other cables touching it to cause some kind of weird interference or just physical pulling on the cable. Same problem. If, however, I disconnect the component cable and just leave it sitting behind the TV, then the problem goes away. So, my question is this - what could be causing this? Is it a case where it's an improperly shielded component cable that's causing interference with the HDMI input, or something that's wrong with the TV? It's an intermittent problem, so it's difficult to track down. The TV isn't that old, so it's probably still under warranty. I'm just wondering if there is something else I can do that might reduce this problem without having to haul a massive television set out of my house to get repaired/replaced.
