    Is there a succinct but complete example project or tutorial that brings together the pieces of the Microsoft stack for a complete application? WPF MVVM Business Objects EF Database I find plenty for WPF and plenty for EF, but am having trouble fully understanding how the EF generated classes relate to business objects, and how those business objects in turn fit into the MVVM pattern.

    Some of the degree sysmbols in my sql server database are displaying like this: 173-¦F. When I do a search for that - SELECT * FROM PRoduct WHERE description LIKE '%-¦%', it does not bring them up. How can I find (and replace) such characters?

  • What is the best forum plug-in solution for the Symfony framework?

    I'm looking for a good solution to integrate a forum into a symfony application. Something like phpBB would be excellent. I've seen phpBB plugins to integrate with symfony but that's not enough for my purposes, also, mapping database tables is a lame approach in my opinion. If anybody knows a good working forum component for Symfony then I would really apreciate it. :) Thanks!

    MySQL stores the date in my database (by default) as 'YYYY-MM-DD' The field type for my date is 'DATE' (I do not need any time storage).. Is there a simple way to change it by default to DD/MM/YYYY ? I call up different dates in 2 different tables, and no where in any of my code do I have anything resembling a date variable or anything! Hopefully this is a straight forward change?

    Hi, I am having a hard time establishing a connection to my database file using JDBC-ODBC bridge. The driver I am using is sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver but I believe it is not present on Mac OSX by default and hence throws an exception for class not found. So far, I have this query SELECT * FROM sys.columns WHERE object_id = OBJECT_ID('table1') The only thing is that I don't know how to use the sys.columns to reference a database other than the one that the query is connected to. I tried this SELECT * FROM db.sys.columns WHERE object_id = OBJECT_ID('table1') but it didn't find anything. I'm using SQL Server 2005 Any suggestions? thanks!

  • Getting row right after insert returns no result

    I am running unit tests and when I try to insert data in the database and getting it right after, I don't get anything (I have tried with DataAdapter and DataReader). However when I put a 3 seconds sleep (even with 1 second it doesn't work...) between the insert and the select I get the result. In SQL Server Profiler I can see the execution, the insert is well done and is completed about 10 miliseconds before the select begins. I can't find out where this comes
