  • Download Spring 2.5 sample applications

    - by Don
    Hi, I've seen various references to a couple of Spring MVC 2.5 example applications, named 'petclinic' and 'jpetstore'. I can't seem to find where to download these examples. Can anyone can provide a link to download them (ideally also with instructions for setup/deploying)? Thanks, Don

  • Obtaining FontMetrics before getting a Graphics instance

    - by Tom Castle
    Typically, I'd obtain a graphics instance something like this: BufferedImage img = new BufferedImage(width, height, BufferedImage.TYPE_INT_ARGB); Graphics2D g = img.createGraphics(); However, in the current project I'm working on, the width and height variables above are dependent upon the size of a number of text fragments that will later be drawn onto the graphics instance. But, to obtain the dimensions of the font being used I would usually use the FontMetrics that I get from the graphics object. FontMetrics metrics = g.getFontMetrics(); So, I have a nasty little dependency cycle. I cannot create the graphics object until I know the size of the text, and I cannot know the size of the text until I have a graphics object. One solution is just to create another BufferedImage/Graphics pair first in order to get the FontMetrics instance I need, but this seems unnecessary. So, is there a nicer way? Or is it the case that the width, height etc. properties for a Font are somehow dependent upon what (graphics, component...) the text is to be drawn on?

  • Why in the following code the output is different when I compile or run it more than once

    - by Sanjeev
    class Name implements Runnable { public void run() { for (int x = 1; x <= 3; x++) { System.out.println("Run by " + Thread.currentThread().getName() + ", x is " + x); } } } public class Threadtest { public static void main(String [] args) { // Make one Runnable Name nr = new Name(); Thread one = new Thread(nr); Thread two = new Thread(nr); Thread three = new Thread(nr); one.setName("A"); two.setName("B"); three.setName("C"); one.start(); two.start(); three.start(); } } The answer is different while compiling and running more then one time I don't know why? any idea.

  • Find top N elements in a Multiset from Google Collections?

    - by dfrankow
    A Google Collections Multiset is a set of elements each of which has a count (i.e. may be present multiple times). I can't tell you how many times I want to do the following Make a histogram (exactly Multiset) Get the top N values from the histogram Examples: top 10 URLs, top 10 tags, ... What is the canonical way to do #2 given a Multiset? Here is a blog post about it, but that code is not quite what I want. First, it returns everything, not just top N. Second, it copies (is it possible to avoid a copy?). Third, I usually want a deterministic sort, i.e. tiebreak if counts are equal.

  • How can I change the arrow style in a JComboBox

    - by Stephane Grenier
    Let's say I want to use a custom image for the arrow in JComboBox, how can I do this? I understand it's possible using the synth xml files, or maybe even UIManager.put(...), but I don't know how. All I want to do at this time is change the arrow image to something else, either programatically or even just overriding the image it uses. How exactly can I do this?

  • Usual hibernate performance pitfall

    - by Antoine Claval
    Hi, We have just finish to profile our application. ( she's begin to be slow ). the problem seems to be "in hibernate". It's a legacy mapping. Who work's, and do it's job. The relational shema behind is ok too. But some request are slow as hell. So, we would appreciate any input on common and usual mistake made with hibernate who end up with slow response. Exemple : Eager in place of Lazy can change dramaticly the response time....

  • deploying project to tomcat ROOT

    - by stsd
    I have deployed my project to tomcat root, and it works fine without any problem. To acheive this I created a ROOT file TOMCAT_HOME/conf/Catalina/localhost/ROOT.xml with content below: <Context docBase="/home/user/project.war" path="" reloadable="true" /> So right now I can see my project under localhost:8080/ without any problem.. but I don't know where my project has been extracted, there is even no ROOT directory under TOMCAT_HOME/webapps, any idea?

  • Writing a recursive sorting algorithm of an array of integers

    - by 12345
    I am trying to write a recursive sorting algorithm for an array of integers. The following codes prints to the console: 3, 5, 2, 1, 1, 2, 6, 7, 8, 10, 20 The output should be sorted but somehow "it doesn't work". public static void main(String[] args) { int[] unsortedList = {20, 3, 1, 2, 1, 2, 6, 8, 10, 5, 7}; duplexSelectionSort(unsortedList, 0, unsortedList.length-1); for (int i = 0; i < unsortedList.length; i++) { System.out.println(unsortedList[i]); } } public static void duplexSelectionSort( int[] unsortedNumbers, int startIndex, int stopIndex) { int minimumIndex = 0; int maximumIndex = 0; if (startIndex < stopIndex) { int index = 0; while (index <= stopIndex) { if (unsortedNumbers[index] < unsortedNumbers[minimumIndex]) { minimumIndex = index; } if (unsortedNumbers[index] > unsortedNumbers[maximumIndex]) { maximumIndex = index; } index++; } swapEdges(unsortedNumbers, startIndex, stopIndex, minimumIndex, maximumIndex); duplexSelectionSort(unsortedNumbers, startIndex + 1, stopIndex - 1); } } public static void swapEdges( int[] listOfIntegers, int startIndex, int stopIndex, int minimumIndex, int maximumIndex) { if ((minimumIndex == stopIndex) && (maximumIndex == startIndex)) { swap(listOfIntegers, startIndex, stopIndex); } else { if (maximumIndex == startIndex) { swap(listOfIntegers, maximumIndex, stopIndex); swap(listOfIntegers, minimumIndex, startIndex); } else { swap(listOfIntegers, minimumIndex, startIndex); swap(listOfIntegers, maximumIndex, stopIndex); } } } public static void swap(int[] listOfIntegers, int index1, int index2) { int savedElementAtIndex1 = listOfIntegers[index1]; listOfIntegers[index1] = listOfIntegers[index2]; listOfIntegers[index2] = savedElementAtIndex1; }

    - by natrollus

  • Why does every thread in my application use a different hibernate session?

    - by Ittai
    Hi, I have a web-application which uses hibernate and for some reason every thread (httprequest or other threads related to queueing) uses a different session. I've implemented a HibernateSessionFactory class which looks like this: public class HibernateSessionFactory { private static final ThreadLocal<Session> threadLocal = new ThreadLocal<Session>(); private static Configuration configuration = new AnnotationConfiguration(); private static org.hibernate.SessionFactory sessionFactory; static { try { configuration.configure(configFile); sessionFactory = configuration.buildSessionFactory(); } catch (Exception e) {} } private HibernateSessionFactory() {} public static Session getSession() throws HibernateException { Session session = (Session) threadLocal.get(); if (session == null || !session.isOpen()) { if (sessionFactory == null) { rebuildSessionFactory();//This method basically does what the static init block does } session = (sessionFactory != null) ? sessionFactory.openSession(): null; threadLocal.set(session); } return session; } //More non relevant methods here. Now from my testing it seems that the threadLocal member is indeed initialized only once when the class is first loaded by the JVM but for some reason when different threads access the getSession() method they use different sessions. When a thread first accesses this class (Session) threadLocal.get(); will return null but as expected all other access requests will yeild the same session. I'm not sure how this can be happening as the threadLocal variable is final and the method threadLocal.set(session) is only used in the above context (which I'm 99.9% sure has to yeild a non null session as I would have encountered a NullPointerException at a different part of my app). I'm not sure this is relevant but these are the main parts of my hibernate.cfg.xml file: <hibernate-configuration> <session-factory> <property name="connection.url">someURL</property> <property name="connection.driver_class"> com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver</property> <property name="dialect">org.hibernate.dialect.SQLServerDialect</property> <property name="hibernate.connection.isolation">1</property> <property name="hibernate.connection.username">User</property> <property name="hibernate.connection.password">Password</property> <property name="hibernate.connection.pool_size">10</property> <property name="show_sql">false</property> <property name="current_session_context_class">thread</property> <property name="hibernate.hbm2ddl.auto">update</property> <property name="hibernate.cache.use_second_level_cache">false</property> <property name="hibernate.cache.provider_class">org.hibernate.cache.NoCacheProvider</property> <!-- Mapping files --> I'd appreciate any help granted and of course if anyone has any questions I'd be happy to clarify. • distinguishing a string with flex

    - by haluk
    Hi, I need to tokenize some strings which will be splitted of according to operators like = and !=. I was successful using regex until the string has != operator. In my case, string was seperated into two parts, which is expected but ! mark is in the left side even it is part of given operator. Therefore, I believe that regex is not suitable for it and I want to benefit from lex. Since I do not have enough knowledge and experience with lex, I am not sure whether it fits my work or not. Basically, I am trying to do replace the right hand side of the operators with actual values from other data. Do you people think that can it be helpful for my case? Thanks.

  • download file exception handling

    - by klaus-vlad
    Hi, In my application I download several critical files from a server, and I want to write some code that handles the case where the a file download didn't complete for a reason or other ,to retry downloading it at next startup. The function that downloads a file at a time however throws only MalformedURLException and IOException , but if these exceptions are thrown that means that the download didn't even begin. How should I arrange things so I can treat the case where a download failed , even if it began ? download(String file) throws MalformedURLException ,IOException { }

  • android - How to draw only the sprite from an image on the canvas

    - by user1320494
    this is the first time for me here, so I hope I'm doing this right :) My question is the following: how do I draw the sprite from an image on the canvas, so that I don't get the entire (squared) image to show, but only the parts of the image I want (= the sprite). For example, I have an image of a robot on a white background and I only want to see the robot, and not the white background. I hope someone here can help me with this problem, because it's giving me headaches of not knowing how to do it :P

  • How to make a daemon which will accept arbitrary commands

    - by Jono
    Right now the program can be launched in a linux terminal. Once running you can type various commands and the program will do stuff on the machine until the user quits. I would like to make the program into a service that the user runs and it goes to the background. Then the user should be able to make commands to it. Like start and stop, and write something to a log and whatever else my program does. Note that I need to send it arbitrary commands that my program will handle, not just start and stop. Maybe this means it is no longer a daemon - I dont know. How do I do this? Also, if this is not too hard, I would like to be able to run multiple instances of this service. But it is not essential.

  • Android-Close Other Apps

    - by Luke
    I have some code that will launch a different application using intents but what can I do to close or kill the other app? Here is the launch code (works great): Intent i = new Intent(); i.setAction(Intent.ACTION_MAIN); i.addCategory(Intent.CATEGORY_LAUNCHER); i.setFlags(Intent.FLAG_ACTIVITY_NEW_TASK); i.setComponent( new ComponentName(resolveInfo.activityInfo.applicationInfo.packageName, resolveInfo.activityInfo.name)); I tried to kill the background processes but no luck: ActivityManager activityManager = (ActivityManager) context.getSystemService(context.ACTIVITY_SERVICE); activityManager.killBackgroundProcesses("com.pandora.android"); I also tried this to kill it: context.stopService(new Intent(context, Class.forName("com.bla.bla")));

  • How to align Button to the right, without being overlapped by TextView?

    - by Kilnr
    Hello, I'm trying to get something like this: http://img202.imageshack.us/img202/552/layoutoy.png. I'm using this as a list item (technically as the group view of an ExpandableListView). Here's the XML file: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <RelativeLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:orientation="horizontal" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="?android:attr/listPreferredItemHeight"> <TextView android:id="@+id/list_item_text" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:ellipsize="end" /> <Button android:id="@+id/list_item_button" android:text="Click me!" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_alignParentRight="true" android:layout_toRightOf="@id/list_item_text" /> </RelativeLayout> But this doesn't work. The Button doesn't wrap its contents, instead it uses all available horizontal space. The TextView does wrap its contents, but what I want it to do is to cut off when it overlaps the Button. In other words, I want all the buttons to be of the same width, regardless of the amount of text in the textviews. Is this at all possible?

  • Generate encoding String according to creation order.

    - by Tony
    I need to generate encoding String for each item I inserted into the database. for example: x00001 for the first item x00002 for the sencond item x00003 for the third item The way I chose to do this is counting the rows. Before I insert the third item, I count against the database, I know there're already 2 rows, so the next encoding is ended with 3. But there is a problem. If I delete the second item, the forth item will not be the x00004,but x00003. I can add additional columns to table, to store the next encoding, I don't know if there's other better solutions ?
