• Android app works on emulator but not on phone ("Can't dispatch DDM chunk XXXX: no handler defined")

  Hey all, I made a very simple application to start playing around with Android development. It works fine on the emulator, but it gives me the following error when I try to install it on my HTC Hero (v1.5): Sorry! • TableView - iVar reset when returning from details view

  Hi, anyone knows what I need to do to retain my TableView iVars whilst pushing a details view onto the navigation stack? I have an array and a date defined as iVars and the array is retained, whilst the date is not. I checked whether there may be an autorelease hidden somewhere but there are no obvious ones. The properties are defined as nonatomic, retain. I use custom NSDate category methods to determine specific dates at stages. • Getting Windows XP colours in .NET

  I am trying to get a specific colour used by Windows XP in my .NET application. In Windows XP, if you go the Control Panel in 'category view', on the left hand side you have some 'See Also' options (Windows Update, Help and Support, Other Control Panel Options). The colour I'm trying to get is the light blue background colour shown behind these options. I don't need the hex/RGB value of the colour, as it can change depending on the style settings used on the desktop. My question is - is it possible to programmatically get hold of this colour in a .NET app? The colour doesn't appear to be in SystemColors, although it's very similar to SystemColors.InactiveCaptionText (and I think I can probably get away with using this). I'm just wondering if there is a way to get hold of the exact colour.

• wp_redirect acting weird. requires die() afterward?

  I am writing a wordpress plugin that redirects the user. for some reason, wp_redirect does not work as think it should, namely: it seems not to redirect the user at all, unless I put a die command in directly after. here is some code: switch($_GET['wp_favorites_tax']) { case 'post_tag': wp_redirect(add_query_arg('tag', $_GET['wp_favorites_term'], get_bloginfo('url'))); die(); break; case 'category': wp_redirect(add_query_arg('cat', $_GET['wp_favorites_term'], get_bloginfo('url'))); die(); break; default: wp_redirect(get_bloginfo('url')); die(); } It seems really strange to me that I should have to tell my script to die so that the redirect can work.   Most web frameworks are still using the traditional action based MVC model. A controller recieves the request, calls the model and delegates rendering to a template. That is what Rails, Grails, Struts, Spring MVC ... are doing. The other category, the component based frameworks like Wicket, Tapestry, JSF, or ASP.Net Web Forms have become more popular over the last years, but my perception is that the traditional action based approach is far more popular. And even ASP .Net Web Forms has become a sibling name ASP .Net Web MVC. I think the kind of applications built with both types of frameworks is overlapping very much, so the question is: Why are action based frameworks so predominant?

• MS Chart Control for ASP.NET 100% Stacked Bar Chart Question.

  Hello All, I am trying to display a chart with several different bars that represent a ratio of some values. For example, one bar may say that there are 25 items in three different groups (maybe dirty, clean, and broken) and of those 25 items x items from each category add up to the total. Later the data will dynamically change and be displayed accordingly. But for now all I want to do is be able to display three different values on the same bar. Unfortunately, whatever properties I need to bind the data to are buried somewhere in the menus and I cannot seem to find them. Do any of you guys have experience with this sort of chart?

I removed my javascript that automatically refreshes the page to make sure that wasn't refreshing before anything was submitted somehow. Could the difference in IE7 have to do with the fact that the domain of the form (forms.netsuite.com) is different than the domain of the parent page(checkout.netsuite.com) and it's being submitted over HTTPS?

• Waiting on multiple asynchronous calls to complete before continuing

  So, I have a page that loads and through jquery.get makes several requests to populate drop downs with their values. $(function() { LoadCategories($('#Category')); LoadPositions($('#Position')); LoadDepartments($('#Department')); LoadContact(); }; It then calls LoadContact(); Which does another call, and when it returns it populates all the fields on the form. The problem is that often, the dropdowns aren't all populated, and thus, it can't set them to the correct value. What I need to be able to do, is somehow have LoadContact only execute once the other methods are complete and callbacks done executing. But, I don't want to have to put a bunch of flags in the end of the drop down population callbacks, that I then check, and have to have a recursive setTimeout call checking, prior to calling LoadContact(); Is there something in jQuery that allows me to say, "Execute this, when all of these are done."?

  Hi there, here is the thing, I have to deploy a web app and the the log4j.properties file is created by the client so I dont have control over it. Their properties file is like this: log4j.rootCategory= FILE !-----------FILE--------------! log4j.category.FILE=DEBUG log4j.appender.FILE=org.apache.log4j.RollingFileAppender log4j.appender.FILE.File=${catalina.base}/logs/rcweb.log log4j.appender.FILE.MaxFileSize=1024KB log4j.appender.FILE.MaxBackupIndex=10 log4j.appender.FILE.layout=org.apache.log4j.PatternLayout log4j.appender.FILE.layout.ConversionPattern=%-2d{dd/MM/yyyy HH:mm:ss} [%t] %5p %c:%L - %m%n And in my classes I do something like this: private static final Logger LOG = Logger.getLogger(MaterialController.class); LOG.info("my log"); But the log file has never been created. I did the test and changed the log4j.properties file and deployed in my computer adding the following line: log4j.logger.br.com.golive.requisicaoCompras=DEBUG This works, but I cant use the file like this. What is the best strategy to store a todo item? Is this related to application pool recycle? if so , is it a must to recycle iis pool? thanks!

• JSF - Prevent validationFailed when raising a WARN ValidatorException

  Hello, I have a form which uses validators for its fields. These validators can send back either Severity.SEVERITY_ERROR or Severity.SEVERITY_WARN messages, as illustrated: if (!isInMainFamily) { FacesMessage message = new FacesMessage(FacesMessage.SEVERITY_WARN, "You should make sure to tag your competency in at least one main category", null); throw new ValidatorException(message); } However, SEVERITY_WARN messages are not blocking for me. They are just a way to tell the user they should correct their input, but won't prevent them from submitting the form and saving their data. However, it seems that throwing any kind of ValidatorException flags the FacesContext as "validationFailed", which then prevents the submission of the form. Is there a way to get around this?   I am trying to implement some localization in my database. It looks something like this (prefixes only for clarification) tbl-Categories ID Language Name tbl-Articles ID CategoryID Now, in my tbl-Categories, I want to have primary keys spanning ID and language, so that every combination of ID and language is unique. In tbl-Articles I would like a foreign key to reference ID in categories, but not Language, since I do not want to bind an article to a certain language, only category. Of course, I cannot add a foreign key to part of the primary key. I also cannot have the primary key only on the ID of categories, since then there can only be one language. Having no primary keys disables foreign keys altogether, and that is also not a great solution. Do you have any ideas how I can solve this in an elegant fashion? Thanks.

• Quickly retrieve the subset of properties used in a huge collection in C#

  I have a huge Collection (which I can cast as an enumerable using OfType<()) of objects. Each of these objects has a Category property, which is drawn from a list somewhere else in the application. This Collection can reach sizes of hundreds of items, but it is possible that only, say, 6/30 of the possible Categories are actually used. What is the fastest method to find these 6 Categories? The size of the huge Collection discourages me from just iterating across the entire thing and returning all unique values, so is there a faster method of accomplishing this? Ideally I'd collect the categories into a List.

I have to classify automaticaly those books into separated sets by topic, example : IT BOOKS : Java for dummies Javascript for dummies Learn flash in 30 days C++ programming HISTORY BOOKS : World wars America in 1960 Martin luther king's life BIOLOGY BOOKS : .... Do you guys know a classification algorithm/method to apply for that kind of problems ? A solution is to use an external API to define the category of the text, but the problem here is that books are in different languages : french, spanish, english ..

  I'd like to know how can I sort values in the Django admin dropdowns. For example, I have a model called Article with a foreign key pointing to the Users model, smth like: class Article(models.Model): title = models.CharField(_('Title'), max_length=200) slug = models.SlugField(_('Slug'), unique_for_date='publish') author = models.ForeignKey(User) body = models.TextField(_('Body')) status = models.IntegerField(_('Status')) categories = models.ManyToManyField(Category, blank=True) publish = models.DateTimeField(_('Publish date')) I edit this model in django admin: class ArticleAdmin(admin.ModelAdmin): list_display = ('title', 'publish', 'status') list_filter = ('publish', 'categories', 'status') search_fields = ('title', 'body') prepopulated_fields = {'slug': ('title',)} admin.site.register(Article, ArticleAdmin) and of course it makes the nice user select dropdown for me, but it's not sorted and it takes a lot of time to find a user by username.
