• No rear audio when front jack is connected

  I have Ubuntu 14.04 64bit dual booted. When I connect something on front audio jack then rear audio is not working. I have tried changing analolog-output-headphones.conf file. After changing that alsamixer showing that both centre and surround not muted with full volum. • How to install a wiki server

  I would like to install a wiki on my server so I can let people I know to edit documents. So, I don't wan it to be as open as wikipedia. I would like something as google docs (the thing is google docs doesn't handle images and tables on documents very well), doesn't have to be in real time as google does it. The first thing I noticed looking over internet there are different solutions. Maybe what I'm looking for is the easiest one to install. • Ubuntu boots to totally blank after I installed some graphic card updates

  I am using Ubuntu 10.04 LTS, dual boot with win7 on ThinkPad T400, I followed Ubuntu update hints and installed some update for my ATI Radeon graphic card, but when I boot to Ubuntu(means I can still load GRUB), the tragedy happened, the screen goes to blank and no matter what key stroke, I can not get any responds, I try to go to text terminal, but impossible! However when I hit the power button, the computer would pop out the Ubuntu shutdown screen briefly and shut down. I figure out I should delete the updates package of my graphic card, but I don't even get a chance to go to text terminal, please help me!

  I'm coming from a background of Android. I would like to figure out what kind of iBlah device hardware I need to support for iPhone game development. From my research, it seems that I need to support both iPod and iPhone. But which versions of hardware? is 3G still used? What about 3GS? For example, the -S phones seem to have dual core instead of single-core CPUs. I also worry about performance. In Android, I had a severely low-end phone, which meant pretty much anything that ran okay there ran okay on other phones. For iPhone, how do I figure out what to support in terms of performance?

• Forward a port with modem (with built-in but disabled router) + a separate router

  I have a Motorola SBG6580 that is a modem and a wireless router in one. However, the wireless router part was bad so I disabled it and got a separate wireless router. I can go into the configuration pages of both the modem and the router now, and I'm confused as to which device needs to be configured for port-forwarding. I have a raspberry pi that I want to set up as a webserver. Do I configure the router, the modem, or both? Right now, the SBG6580's 1st LAN is connected to the wireless router's WAN, and the internet is working well. Note that the SBG6580 only has 4 ports, and I'm assuming they're LAN,as they are not labeled.

• GParted doesn't see any partition

  What I am trying to do couldn't be more logical I think. I have a 40gb drive with two partitions, Xp and Ubuntu. I have dual boot, everything boots and works perfectly. I have about 9gb free in the Windows partition When I run Gparted I only see 40gb unallocated space, booting from Gparted Live CD. What the hell is going on ? I've read everywhere this is a common problem, however it has no sense something like this remains unsolved by gparted developers, considering what I am trying to do is the very basic step anybody wanting to migrate from Windows to Linux would od Something like this honestly doesn't give anything else than frustration Could anybody on this forum be so kind to explain whats' going on ? • Have I fixed my partition problem with os x 10.5.8? Are my GPT and MBR back to normal?

  I'm new to linux and I have overstepped by abilities. I tried dual booting os x 10.5.8 with ubuntu 11.10 with rEFIt, but I been having problems with partitioning. Instead of enduring more headaches, I've made the decision to simply use ubuntu on VirtualBox. I've tried to return my HDD to normal, but I am looking for confirmation that my partitions are ok.   Regards. I am using a: 2009 Compaq Presario CQ40-415AU Notebook AMD Athlon X2 Dual core Processor 2.1 GHz 1024 MB L2 cache 3GB DDR2 RAM ATI Radeon + HD 3200 Graphics 256 MB, screen is 14 inch widescreen with resolution of 1280*800. I installed Ubuntu 12.04 LTS 32bit on my laptop. It works brilliantly until I installed graphics driver. When I installed the driver, the graphics became slow. Everything slowed down. Even the splash screen resolution changed to something like 640*480. I have liked Ubuntu since 9.10 and for the freedom it provides and its versatility, but graphics problem remains the same. I even installed Ubuntu on a 50 GB partition with 6 GB swap partition. My HDD is 320 GB. Please tell me what is wrong.

The exe constructs the request with all the data in it. when the request reaches my web page, I don't see any data. I wan to monitor the Request object and the traffic to find the reality. • Apache (XAMPP 1.8.0) access.log/Intrusion Detection Concern

  [I originally posted on SO but it earned me a Tumbleweed badge. This looks like a better venue for the question.] I have Apache (XAMPP 1.8.0) running on Vista Pro x64. A couple times now I have seen a pattern like the example below in access.log. Concerning is the "attack" seems to somehow shift from a public IP to a valid private IP on my network (happens to be the WAN address of one of my routers). Two questions: How is this possible, and what happens if the "attacker" stumbles on a valid request? • Battery management doesn't recognize removal of power supply

  I have a Lenovo Y460p running Ubuntu 12.04 (64-bit). The battery does charge normally, but unplugging the power supply only very briefly shows the correct battery indicator. After about 1 second, it reverts to the charging indicator. If the power supply is connected the power statistics show: "Supply Yes" "Online Yes" If it is not connected it shows: "Supply Yes" "Online No" My problem is almost exactly like the one in this post: Ubuntu 11.10 power management does not recognize removal of power supply The only exception is that my system does not dual-boot with Windows. This is Ubuntu only. The computer in the other post is a Lenovo as well; not sure if that has anything to do with it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

• Ubuntu Slows down over time?

  About a few months ago I was using Ubuntu (doing something in the command line) when it started lagging really bad. I would hit S (or any other key) and like 20 seconds later it would show up in my terminal. Naturally I killed the machine and rebooted. The system started working just fine, but about 30 minutes later it did the same thing. Now I'm forced to use Ubuntu in 30 minute spurts. I've looked at my running processes and none of them are taking large amounts of CPU or RAM. Luckily I've dual-booted so I could still use my machine. Now I need to get this fixed and I'm wondering what my options are. Will I be forced to do a fresh install or is there another way?

• Connected 2 routers, but they won't talk

  I'm trying to set up a second WLAN at home (since the Nintendo DS firmware won't connect to my WPA-encrypted main WLAN), but when I connect my second router's WAN port to one of my main router's LAN ports, the routers won't talk, and I can't connect wirelessly to the second router. I can still see the second router's WLAN - I am just unable to connect to it. And it seems that even the main router can't see the second router, despite being plugged directly into it - I went to the main router's admin console and pinged the second router (which is receiving an IP address), but it was unable to reach it! Does anyone know what might be wrong? Thanks!

• Ubuntu suddenly won't boot on a Mac

  I installed 11.10 in dual-boot mode following instructions here: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/MactelSupportTeam/AppleIntelInstallation Everything worked fine, until I recently updated from Mac OS 10.6.x to the latest 10.6.x (this was a minor update prompted by OS X). The update made the rEFIt screen disappear, so I ran Boot Repair and reinstalled rEFIt and everything worked. I accidentally left my computer without power while booted into Ubuntu, until it presumably died or hibernated itself. I have been unable to boot into Ubuntu since. I didn't see the GRUB screen when I selected Linux the rEFIt chooser. Then I reinstalled rEFIt and the Linux option disappeared from the rEFIt chooser. • Running 12.04 as a gateway - resolvconf, dhclient and dnsmasq integration

  I have a gateway server which is set up originally with Ubuntu desktop 12.04 - perhaps a mistake, I don't know, something to bear in mind. I ripped out network-manager and now want to get resolvconf, dhclient and dnsmasq to play well together. dhclient gets the gateway's eth0 WAN ip address and the ISP DNS name server from the modem. dnsmasq needs to serve dhcp to the rest of the lan on eth1 and acts as a DNS cache both for the lan and for the gateway machine. I also set up iptables as a firewall. Right now, the gateway's /etc/resolv.conf shows only name server = 127.0.0.1 which is correct AFAIK. However I don't think that dhclient is giving dnsmasq the ISP DNS name server nor is dnsmasq picking up the OpenDNS and Google name servers I specified in /etc/network/interfaces - at the moment look-ups, i.e. ping or surfing, don't work unless I manually edit /etc/resolv.conf to put in an upstream name server like 8.8.8.8 So I removed the resolvconf package. Now I'm not getting dhcp on my lan and I'm not able to do DNS look-ups on the host itself - I can surf and ping on the net, but not 127.0.0.1. Where do I go from here? This setup with the config for dhclient and dnsmasq, and the same resolv.conf and hosts files worked on my old debian box.

• Screen Corruption in half the screen only

  About 50% of the my NATTY desktop screen is corrupted. Once that happens I can re-boot as many times as I want but the problem continues. If I logout and then into WINDOWS for a day I may be successful and boot UBUNTU with a good screen. The desktop is formatted correctly, there's no pixelation, rather there is a fine grained white crosshatch pattern covering the entire screen. If I open any application the screen corruption worsens eventually to the point I can no longer make out anything. I ran ram memory test w/o any errors. I have no display issues when running WINDOWS 7. Any ideas. My computer is a Dual Boot stock DELL 5150 w/3gig of ram an on board video.

• Edimax wireless router is not providing DNS services correctly

  I have an Edimax router that is set up to connect to the internet via L2TP on cable, and on the LAN side it's set up as a DHCP server. The DHCP server gives correct IP addresses, but it sets itself up as the DNS server. However, it doesn't provide the DNS service. I am sure that it's a problem with the router, because I have two computers on the network with the same problem. I see that on the WAN side it gets correct DNS addresses from the ISP, so I'd expect the router to either pass these addresses through to the DHCP clients, or to serve the DNS requests itself by forwarding them to the ISP's DNS. However, it apparently does neither, and there is no DNS. I switched from ADSL to cable last week. On ADSL it connected using PPPoE, and the DNS worked fine. What can be the problem here?

• What's constitute an entry on the IPTables and how to find out which client it is originated from

  I have a Billion BiPac 7700N Modem/Router/Access Point and I connect another router (TP-Link TL-WR1043ND) in wan-bypass mode to extend the wireless coverage. Lately, I noticed that the connection through TP-Link has been dropping out quite regularly. Having read some posts on the Internet, I checked system log on 7700N and found that there are many "nf_conntract: expectation table full" errors, which I suppose the iptables are full. My questions: What does constitute an entry on the iptable? Is it a client or a connection (which means one client can have multiple connections) How could I find out where are those connections originated from? Note: Many reported that the issue is usually related to having torrents running but I don't have any torrents running. Thank you.
