• IP-restricted port forwarding with iptables

  For an example, I have two authorized client computers, 1.1.1.1 and 2.1.1.1. My server running iptables is 3.1.1.1 and my firewalled web server is 4.1.1.1. When one of the authorized client IPs connects to 3.1.1.1 on port 80, I would like the connection to be forwarded to 4.1.1.1 on port 8888. If any other IP attempts to connect I would like it to refuse/drop the connection. What iptables config would accomplish this? Is there something more specific out there that would be better suited for this job?

  Hello all, I hope someone can direct me on the right path before I put a lot of time and effort on this. I'm currently trying to parse an AAC+ frame to get information such as number of channels and sample frequency. So it seems that we can simply get this information from the ADTS header but most of the time this information is inaccurate. So the question is: -Why is this data inaccurate? What is the meaning of the ADTS header channel and sample freq? Should I rely on it? -Should I parse further down the frame to get this information? FYI, the AAC+ raw data is coming from streaming servers... Thanks for the help! -Moto

  I have three SSID. one is a guest network and I'm having problems with lease times. Its set for web authentication so it passes IPs out even if someone doesn't try and authenticate. Is there a way to get that IP back and not hand another to that mac for a period of time? Poor planning and we didn't allocate enough address space, and we are sandwitched. We could go with another address, but we would have to reconfig lots. since its guest its vlan'd with no access to anthing but the firewalls. would have to change ACLs and routes and interfaces. if it isn't possible we will just have to go that route, just thought there might be an easier solution. session timeout is enabled with 1 hr lease time is set to 4 hrs. no helper DHCP and internal DHCP is set with the space split across three WLCs (60 waps split across those as well).

• invalid postback event instead of dropdown to datagrid

  I faced with funny situation. I created a page which is having some value, I set these value and control my post back event also. The problem is happening when I change a component index(ex reselect a combobox which is not inside my datagrid) then I dont know why without my page call the Page_Load it goes to create a new row in grid function and all of my parameter are null! I am just receiving null exception. So in other word I try to explain the situation: when I load my page I am initializing some parameter. then everything is working fine. in my page when I change selected item of my combo box, page suppose to go and run function related to that combo box, and call page_load, but it is not going there and it goes to rowcreated function. I am trying to illustrate part of my page. • Invalid Cross-Thread Operations from BackgroundWorker2_RunWorkerCompleted in C#

  Hello. I'm getting an error that does not make sense. Cross-thread operation not valid: Control 'buttonOpenFile' accessed from a thread other than the thread it was created on. In my application, the UI thread fires off backgroundWorker1, which when almost complete fires off backgroundWorker2 and waits for it to complete. backgroundWorker1 waits for backgroundWorker2 to complete, before it completes. AutoResetEvent variables are used to flag when each of the workers complete. In backgroundWorker2_RunWorkerComplete a function is called that resets the form controls. It is in this ResetFormControls() function where the exception is thrown. I thought it was safe to modify form controls in the RunWorkerCompleted function. Both background workers are instantiated from the UI thread.   Hey guys I'm trying to use a RegularexpressionValidator to match an IP address (with possible wildcards) for an IP filtering system. I'm using the following Regex: "([0-9]{1,3}\\.|\\*\\.){3}([0-9]{1,3}|\\*){1}" Which works fine when running it in LINQPad with Regex.Matches, but doesn't seem to work when I'm using the validator.   I have this in my ~/.ssh/config directory: Host 12.34.56.78 IdentityFile ~/.ssh/my_identity_file When I ssh to 12.34.56.78, everything works fine. I'm asked for the passphrase for "my_identity_file" and I can connect to the server. However, sometimes I'd also like to ssh to another server. But whatever the server, if I do: ssh [email protected] I'm also asked for the passphrase for "my_identity_file" (even though the server has a different ip address). This is very annoying because I don't have the public key for this file set up on all my servers. I'd like to connect to this other server (an old shared hosting account) with a password, and now I cant. How do I manage to use the key authentication only with one server, and keep using password by default for servers that aren't listed in my ~/.ssh/config ? Thanks for your help.

  Turns out that the IP of a much-needed new website is blocked from inside our organization's network for reasons that will take weeks to fix. In the meantime, could we set up a reverse proxy on an Internet-based server which will forward SSL traffic and perhaps client IPs to the external site? Load will be light. No need to terminate SSL on the proxy. We may be able to poison DNS so original URL can work. How do I learn if I need URL rewriting? Squid/apache/nginx/something else? Setup would be fastest on Win 2000, but other OSes are OK if that would help. Simple and quick are good since it's a temporary solution. Thanks for your thoughts!

We are having a network problem: My partner can access an internal website using the domain name, e.g. http://website.name, but I can only access that website using the direct IP, e.g. 192.168.1.85. I can not ping that web server using "ping website.name" but it works if I using "ping 192.168.1.85". I want to use the domain name. Please help.

• ssh can't connect after server ip changed

  I have a server with ubuntu installed. After I change the network configuration and restart server, ssh client can't connect server any more. But in the server I can use ssh client to connect itself and the netstat command shows that sshd is listening port 22. And in my computer (win7) ping command is OK to server's new IP. The configuration in /etc/network/interfaces is: auto eth0 iface eth0 inet static address 10.80.x.x netmask 255.255.255.0 gateway 10.80.x.1 I'm very confused about this. Hope somebody can give me some idea. Thank you in advance!!!

• Ubuntu in Virtualbox - web server very slow when using local IP address

  I'm using Ubuntu (Lucid Lynx) to learn Ruby On Rails. I'm running Ubuntu in VirtualBox (the host is Windows 7 Ultimate), using bridged networking. When I run my Rails app and point the browser at it using localhost:3000, the app responds immediately and my page is rendered in a second or two. However, if I use 10.0.0.5:3000 (where 10.0.0.5 is my IP address reported using ifconfig), the response from my rails app is incredibly slow - maybe 30 seconds or more for the server to respond and render the page. This happens in both Firefox and Chrome. Also, when I hit the Rails app from the host (to test it in IE), I get the same slooooooow response. Any ideas what might be going on? I've tried it with two different routers, and on two different networks (work and home) with the same result. Cheers all.

  I have a problem with my web server; I can't access it from the external IP address. I'm using an IIS 7 server, but I've tried with apache on Linux as well. I have forwarded all traffic on port 80 to my computer, but it just won't work. I've done port forwarding with my Minecraft server, and it did work, but when I try it with a web server, no. I've been looking on many many forums, but their methods don't work for me. My router is a Speedport W 723V, if anyone knows that one. Any help is appreciated.

  How do I setup an IP alias on a bridge (br0) device on Ubuntu ? If I wait for br0 to come up and then do /sbin/ifconfig br0:0 192.168.10.1 netmask 255.255.255.0 then it works fine.   I'm looking into virtualizing a Hylafax server which currently runs on a dedicated hardware running CentOS with a Divalogic card. The main issue obviously is, how to connect the modem to the VM. There are serial over IP devices available at digi.com. Maybe there are others? Regarding digi.com devices, as far as I understood one can install the RealPort software and then have a /dev/ttySx device presented to the Linux server. This device then can be used as serial connection to the modem. Does someone have such a configuration in place? Or does someone have another idea to virtualize a Hylafax server (outbound faxes only). Thank you in advance

  I use SSL certificate for a web site I set up in Amazon EC2 Machine Instance. The SSL certificate is for one domain name, which is not public DNS for the Amazon Machine Instance. The browser always complains the mismatch in the domain name because it compares the domain name of the SSL certificate to the Amazon public DNS. How can I set up not to cause this problem? I tried both domain name forwarding and A Record setting. Maybe it's because I'm not so familiar with Amazon EC2 and I haven't configured domain name correctly. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
