    Hi , I need to query a locations WOEID and grab the WOEID value from the xml returned. So the user would type e.g. London, UK and I need to load the query as below: http://query.yahooapis.com/v1/public/yql?q=select%20woeid%20from%20geo.places%20where%20text%20%3D%20%22London%2C%20UK%2C%20UK%22&format=xml After which I need to grab the WOEID value from the returned XML. Is there a way to do this all client side, using Javascript/ JQuery? Thanks alot

    I have an html page were i can fill in some text and send (with javascript) this to an sql-database. On my pc, everything works fine, but on another one (a french windows), it doesn't save my chars correctly. french chars like é, è, â,.. were saved as 'É', or something like that. I googled a lot but still did not found any solution, i'm also not able to reproduce the problem on my own pc..

  • Javascript crazy idea finding a node

    I had a crazy (but so crazy that it just might work) idea where every element on a page is created in javascript but given an ID which is a hash of its path in the DOM. So instead of searching through the DOM to find an element, you hash the path and then getElementById() with that hash. Problem with this is getting the path might be more expensive than searching the DOM in the first place. Any ideas how this could be done or if it is just plain stupid?

  • Javascript to match a specific number using regular expressions

    I was using javascript to detect for specific key strokes and while writing the method I thought I'd try regular expressions and the test() method and came up with: if (/8|9|37|38|46|47|48|49|50|51|52|53|54|55|56|57|96|97|98|99|100|101|102|103|104|105|110/.test(num)) { // do something if there's a match } This doesn't seem to work 100% as some values seem to make it past the regex test, such as 83. I've since moved on, but I'm still curious as to why this didn't work.

Ideally I'd like a handler that behaves much like adding a marker to a map - i.e. onclick causes a marker to be displayed at the point that was clicked, and returns the x/y pixel coordinates of the point that was clicked. Is it proper to think of the .h header file in ObjectiveC as an Interface in Actionscript? Lets take the following code example in Objective C which calls a method containing 2 arguments [myTextObject setString: @"Hello World" color: kWhiteColor]; In Actionscript(or javascript) would this be the same as calling 2 accessor methods on 'myTextObject'? ie myTextObject.setString("Hello World") myTextObject.color(kWhiteColor);
