    I am a wondering if there is a recommended "best practice" for a product search SEO. I know to create a dynamic sitemap file that lists links to all products in the site. However, I want to implement a a bookmark-able "advanced search". Should I let search engines index any of the results? Take the following parameters for a search on a make believe used car website: minprice (minimum price in dollars) maxprice (maximum price in dollars) make (honda, audi, volvo) model (accord, A4, S40) minyear (minimum model year) maxyear (maximum model year) minmileage (minimum mileage) maxmileage (maximum mileage) Given these parameters, there could be an infinite number of search combinations: Price Between $10,000 and $20,000 /search?minprice=10000&maxprice&20000 Audis with less than 50k miles /search?model=audi&maxmileage=50000 More than 100,000 miles and less than $5,000 /search?minmileage=100000&maxprice=5000 etc. Over time, there may be inbound links to a variety of these types of searches, yet they are all slices of the same data. Should I allow for all of these searches to be indexed?

  • Style list of divs as 2 column layout with css

    I'm trying out ASP.NET MVC 2 by going through the "NerdDinner" tutorial. But apparently version 2 of MVC doesn't create a Details page the same as in the tutorial, and you get divs with css classes on them to style. However, I want to get the style where each label is followed on the same line with the field, and I can't do it, I get them on top of each other, or if I try using floats weird things happen (probably because I don't know exactly how to use it in this situation, where every other div should be on the same line). When a user clicks the application it pops up etc. What I would like is similar functionality to that in MSN when one of my friends logs in. Apparently this is know as a toast popup?     I am having problems sorting list items using the Sortables class when the list items are displayed horizontally. Removing this style fixed everything: display: inline Created an example on jsfiddle. This works. Check the stylesheet for .countries li - it does not display the list inline - http://jsfiddle.net/Wgpqw/ This does not work properly. I can drag the list items around the list, but the sort randomly happens when moving around - http://jsfiddle.net/Wgpqw/1/ I suspect it has something to do with the list element positioning in inline mode. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    This might be a duplicate, but I can't find a solution in other posts. Whenever I try to update I get this message: ERROR###ERROR###ERROR###ERROR###ERROR###ERROR###ERROR E:Encountered a section with no Package: header, E:Problem with MergeList /var/lib/apt/listspackages.medibuntu.org_dists_quantal_free_i18n_Translation-en, E:The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened. I have tried runnig this in the terminal: sudo rm /var/lib/apt/lists/* -vf sudo apt-get update It doesn't work at all. I cant even open the software sources and "sudo apt-get check" gives me this message: Reading package lists... Error! E: Encountered a section with no Package: header E: Problem with MergeList /var/lib/apt/lists/packages.medibuntu.org_dists_quantal_free_i18n_Translation-en E: The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened. UPDATE: solution for me was to remove the medibuntu-keyring through synaptic manager and removed mediubuntu from the software sources too manually. This seems to have solved the problem. The update manager doesnt give me any error messages anymore.

  • Wine pollutes "Open With" application list

    The dialog box in question here is the one you get with the context menu option "open with other applications". Wine seems to have inserted more than a dozen or so entries for each application I install, which makes it a pain to find the correct application: What can I do to remove the duplicates? Update: Neither of the two solutions really work. The bug is interesting, but the symptoms does not match my problem (I'm not having problem with uninstalling applications, but rather the things that are inserted after installing them), and with the other one, all references to the Wine application are removed, which actually makes the problem worse (although it may be an acceptable solution if nothing else can be found). So this is still an open question; any takers?
