  • Can't install PHP after apt-get dist-upgrade

    - by WASD42
I had a server with perfectly running for months classical LAMP installation on Ubuntu 8.04: Linux localhost 2.6.24-23-generic #1 SMP Wed Apr 1 21:47:28 UTC 2009 i686 GNU/Linux DISTRIB_ID=Ubuntu DISTRIB_RELEASE=8.04 DISTRIB_CODENAME=hardy DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION="Ubuntu 8.04.4 LTS" Don't know why I've started apt-get update, apt-get upgrade but everything ended with apt-get dist-upgrade :) Everything gone alright... But now I can't start nor Apache, nor PHP, because PHP was simply deleted. When I'm trying to install it: > apt-get install php5 <...> The following packages have unmet dependencies: php5: Depends: libapache2-mod-php5 (>= 5.2.4-2ubuntu5.17) but it is not going to be installed or php5-cgi (>= 5.2.4-2ubuntu5.17) but it is not going to be installed E: Broken packages When I'm trying to install libapache2-mod-php5: The following packages have unmet dependencies: libapache2-mod-php5: Depends: php5-common (= 5.2.4-2ubuntu5.17) but 5.3.6-6~dotdeb.1 is to be installed E: Broken packages I don't know what 5.3.6-6~dotdeb.1 is and where is this package, because I've already removed dotdeb repository from APT sources :/ Tried to do apt-get update, apt-get upgrade, apt-get install php5 php5-common php5-cli with no success... Don't know what to try next :(

  • Macros's that define macros

    - by David Thornley
    Does anyone know how to pull off something like this... I have alot of repetitive macros as : - #define MYMACRO1(x) Do1(x) #define MYMACRO2(x,y) Do2(x, y) #define MYNEXTMACRO1(x) Do1(x) #define MYNEXTMACRO2(x,y) Do2(x, y) The code above works fine, but I want to write a macro that creates macros (a meta macro). For example: - #define MYMETAMACRO(name) \ #define #name1(x) Do1(x) \ #define #name2(x,y) Do2(x, y) \ Such that I can do : - MYMETAMACRO(MYMACRO); MYMETAMACRO(MYNEXTMACRO); and then : - MYMACRO1(2); MYMACRO2(2,3); MYNEXTMACRO1(4); MYNEXTMACRO2(4, 5); The preprocessor bombs out at the #define as it thinks it is a missing parameter of the macro.

  • Avoiding symbol capture when using macros to generate functions (or other macros)

    - by Rob Lachlan
I'm a bit confused as to exactly when symbol capture will occur with clojure macros. Suppose that I have a macro which defines a function from keywords. In this trivial example, (defmacro foo [keywd1 keywd2] `(defn ~(symbol (name keywd1)) [~(symbol (name keywd2))] (* 2 ~(symbol (name keywd2))))) I call (foo :bar :baz), and this gets expanded into (defn bar [baz] (* 2 baz)). So now the question -- can this lead to symbol capture? If so, under what circumstances? I know that it's preferred to use gensym (e.g. bar#) to prevent symbol capture, but in some cases (not many, but still) I'd like to have a pretty macro-expansion, without the auto-generated symbols. Bonus question: does the answer change if we are considering a macro that creates macros?

  • Inserting snippets from macros

    - by Matt
In Visual Studio 2008 I had a macro which would insert a snippet and input today's date in one of the replacements. When I try to run this macro in VS 2010 it doesn't work. No matter how I try it will not insert a snippet. When I try the following command: DTE.ExecuteCommand("Edit.InvokeSnippetFromShortcut", "snippetName") This fails with error "Error HRESULT E_FAIL has been returned from a call to a COM component. I tried recording a new macro and when I pressed the keyboard shortcut for inserting a snippet (Ctrl+K, Ctrl+X) VS gave the error "The command Insert Snippet is not currently available." Did MS remove the ability to insert snippets from macros? If so this really is a shame because macros have functionality not found in snippets and vice versa.

  • Code coverage (c++ code execution path)

    - by Poni
Let's say I have this code: int function(bool b) { // execution path 1 int ret = 0; if(b) { // execution path 2 ret = 55; } else { // execution path 3 ret = 120; } return ret; } I need some sort of a mechanism to make sure that the code has gone in any possible path, i.e execution paths 1, 2 & 3 in the code above. I thought about having a global function, vector and a macro. This macro would simply call that function, passing as parameters the source file name and the line of code, and that function would mark that as "checked", by inserting to the vector the info that the macro passed. The problem is that I will not see anything about paths that did not "check". Any idea how do I do this? How to "register" a line of code at compile-time, so in run-time I can see that it didn't "check" yet? I hope I'm clear.

  • Documentation concerning platform-specific macros in Linux/POSIX

    - by Nubok
    When compiling a C/C++ program under Windows using Visual Studio (or a compiler that tries to be compatible) there is a predefined macro _WIN32 (Source: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/b0084kay.aspx) that you can use for platform-specific #ifdef-s. What I am looking for is an analogon under Linux: a macro which tells me that I am compiling for Linux/an OS that claims to be (more or less) POSIX-compatible. So I looked into gcc documentation and found this: http://gcc.gnu.org/onlinedocs/cpp/System_002dspecific-Predefined-Macros.html Applied to my program, the following macros (gcc 4.4.5 - Ubuntu 10.10) looked promising (I hope that I didn't drop an important macro): #define __USE_BSD 1 #define __unix__ 1 #define __linux 1 #define __unix 1 #define __linux__ 1 #define _POSIX_SOURCE 1 #define __STDC_HOSTED__ 1 #define __STDC_IEC_559__ 1 #define __gnu_linux__ 1 #define __USE_SVID 1 #define __USE_XOPEN2K 1 #define __USE_POSIX199506 1 #define _G_USING_THUNKS 1 #define __USE_XOPEN2K8 1 #define _BSD_SOURCE 1 #define unix 1 #define linux 1 #define __USE_POSIX 1 #define __USE_POSIX199309 1 #define __SSP__ 1 #define _SVID_SOURCE 1 #define _G_HAVE_SYS_CDEFS 1 #define __USE_POSIX_IMPLICITLY 1 Where do I find a detailed documentation of them - as to the mentioned Windows-specific macros above? Additionally I'd be interested in macros normally defined for other POSIX-compliant operating systems as *BSD etc.

  • Declaring local variables in assembly

    - by dcmoebius
Is it possible to allocate locally-scoped memory in assembly? For example, consider the following (completely contrived) situation: I have two macros, one of which is dependent on the other. The first is: minimum MACRO dest, num1, num2 ; Finds the minimum of two unsigned numbers, stores the result in dest And the second is: tripMin MACRO dest, num1, num2, num3 ; Finds the minimum of three unsigned numbers, stores the result in dest minimum firstMin, num1, num2 minimum secondMin, num2, num3 minimum dest, firstMin, secondMin (I know that this isn't a realistic example for a variety of reasons, but bear with me.) Assuming that all the registers are otherwise occupied, is there any way to declare firstMin and secondMin locally within the macro? Or am I just better off freeing a register by pushing its value onto the stack and popping it back when I'm done?

  • C language preprocessor behavior

    - by khanna_param
There are different kind of macros in C language, nested macro is one of them. Considering a program with the following macro #define HYPE(x,y) (SQUR(x)+SQUR(y)) #define SQUR(x) (x*x) Using this we can successfully compile to get the result. As we all know the C preprocessor replaces all the occurrence of the identifiers with the replacement-string. Considering the above example I would like to know how many times the C preprocessor traverses the program to replace the macro with the replacement values. I assume it cannot be done in one go.

  • Parenthesis operator in C. What is the effect in the following code

    - by Andre
Hi everyone, I was playing with a macro to enable/disable traces when I came out with the following code when the macro is disabled: int main { ("Hello world"); } This code is valid and I got the desired effect (nothing happens when the macro is disabled) but I couldn't figure out what exactly is happening. Is the compiler seeing the parenthesis as a "nameless" method declaration? To make it clearer the code is : #ifdef TRACE #define trace printf("%s %d -> ",__FILE__, __LINE__);printf else #define trace #endif int main { trace("Hello world"); } Thanks in advance.

  • What is the worst real-world macros/pre-processor abuse you've ever come across?

    - by Trevor Boyd Smith
What is the worst real-world macros/pre-processor abuse you've ever come across (please no contrived IOCCC answers *haha*)? Please add a short snippet or story if it is really entertaining. The goal is to teach something instead of always telling people "never use macros". p.s.: I've used macros before... but usually I get rid of them eventually when I have a "real" solution (even if the real solution is inlined so it becomes similar to a macro). Bonus: Give an example where the macro was really was better than a not-macro solution. Related question: When are C++ macros beneficial?

  • Dynamically create labels in gas macros?

    - by pgod
Hi everyone, I would like to dynamically create a set of labels in an assembly function using a gas macro. I would like to do something like this: .macro set_up_jumptab_entry prefix, from=0, to=10 .quad \prefix_\item .if \to-\from set_up_jumptab_entry \prefix,"(\from+1)",\to .endif .endm set_up_jumptab_entry myfunc 0 10 Here \prefix_\item would be something like myfunction_7. Now, I can find lots of examples of recursive invocation, but I haven't found one of just label concatenation involving passed-in macro arguments. Gas is quite poorly documented, so answering this question is difficult for me. Can you concatenate arguments to macros with other tokens to make single tokens? What's your favorite gas assembler reference?

  • How to change the range of a chart in Excel using VBA?

    - by Pieter
Hi guys, I'm using an Excel sheet to keep track of a particular time series (my daily weight, if you must know). I created a macro that inserts a row, automatically adds today's date and calculates a moving average based on my input. There is also a chart to visualize my progress. I have tried recording a macro that updates the time series in the graph, but to no success. How can I create a macro or VBA script that, when executed, updates the range of the graph from A(x):Cy to A(x-1):Cy to include today's measurement? Thanks!

  • Install the proper bitness Visual C++ Runtime Library via a Setup project

    - by chiru_valentin
Hi all! The context: I have a solution that contains amongh other C# projects, a VC++ project that suports compiling only as x64 or Win32 (but not Any CPU). In order for the application (which in fact is a macro for a third party application) to run, it requires Visual C++ Runtime libraries (x86) or (x64) (The macro will run on both x64 and x86 operating systems.) The problem: I want to create a Visual Studio setup project that would install the macro on both x86 and x64 operating systems, and the problem I have is to specify what Visual C++ Runtime library to use a prerequisite. If both are selected (x64 and x86) than I have a runtime error message when running the setup.exe, as on x86 operating systems you cannot run x64 executables like the Visual C++ Runtime libraries (x64) kit is...(which the setup calls in the back). So I would need a bitness condition, or something like that to tell the setup what bitness version of the Visual C++ Runtime library to try to install...I'm not sure if this is possible, or even where such a code should be placed in the setup. Thank you for the support, Vali

  • Get the folder where the last mailitem was moved in Outlook?

    - by user2892971
I have a vbscript macro that I'm using in Outlook. It moves a mailitem to some folder, say X. After I run the macro and I try to manually move a mailitem from Outlook with Control-v, it defaults to folder X. I would like Control-v to default to the folder that it would have used before I ran the macro. Is there some way in VBScript to find out what folder the last mailitem was move to, and to return that to be the default folder after I run my script? Or is there a way to move a mailitem in my script without the destination folder being remembered by Outlook Control-v after I run the script? Thanks for any hints.

  • Faster Matrix Multiplication in C#

    - by Kyle Lahnakoski
I have as small c# project that involves matrices. I am processing large amounts of data by splitting it into n-length chunks, treating the chucks as vectors, and multiplying by a Vandermonde** matrix. The problem is, depending on the conditions, the size of the chucks and corresponding Vandermonde** matrix can vary. I have a general solution which is easy to read, but way too slow: public byte[] addBlockRedundancy(byte[] data) { if (data.Length!=numGood) D.error("Expecting data to be just "+numGood+" bytes long"); aMatrix d=aMatrix.newColumnMatrix(this.mod, data); var r=vandermonde.multiplyBy(d); return r.ToByteArray(); }//method This can process about 1/4 megabytes per second on my i5 U470 @ 1.33GHz. I can make this faster by manually inlining the matrix multiplication: int o=0; int d=0; for (d=0; d<data.Length-numGood; d+=numGood) { for (int r=0; r<numGood+numRedundant; r++) { Byte value=0; for (int c=0; c<numGood; c++) { value=mod.Add(value, mod.Multiply(vandermonde.get(r, c), data[d+c])); }//for output[r][o]=value; }//for o++; }//for This can process about 1 meg a second. (Please note the "mod" is performing operations over GF(2^8) modulo my favorite irreducible polynomial.) I know this can get a lot faster: After all, the Vandermonde** matrix is mostly zeros. I should be able to make a routine, or find a routine, that can take my matrix and return a optimized method which will effectively multiply vectors by the given matrix, but faster. Then, when I give this routine a 5x5 Vandermonde matrix (the identity matrix), there is simply no arithmetic to perform, and the original data is just copied. ** Please note: What I use the term "Vandermonde", I actually mean an Identity matrix with some number of rows from the Vandermonde matrix appended (see comments). This matrix is wonderful because of all the zeros, and because if you remove enough rows (of your choosing) to make it square, it is an invertible matrix. And, of course, I would like to use this same routine to convert any one of those inverted matrices into an optimized series of instructions. How can I make this matrix multiplication faster? Thanks! (edited to correct my mistake with Vandermonde matrix)

  • Troubleshoot Perl module installation on Mac OS X

    - by Daniel Standage
I'm trying to install the Perl module Set::IntervalTree on Mac OS X. I recently installed it today on an Ubuntu box with no problem. I simply started cpan, entered install Set:IntervalTree, and it all worked out. However, the installation failed on Mac OS X--it spits out a huge list of compiler errors (below). How would I troubleshoot this. I don't even know where to begin. cpan[1]> install Set::IntervalTree CPAN: Storable loaded ok (v2.18) Going to read /Users/standage/.cpan/Metadata Database was generated on Fri, 14 Jan 2011 02:58:42 GMT CPAN: YAML loaded ok (v0.72) Going to read /Users/standage/.cpan/build/ ............................................................................DONE Found 1 old build, restored the state of 1 Running install for module 'Set::IntervalTree' Running make for B/BE/BENBOOTH/Set-IntervalTree-0.01.tar.gz CPAN: Digest::SHA loaded ok (v5.45) CPAN: Compress::Zlib loaded ok (v2.008) Checksum for /Users/standage/.cpan/sources/authors/id/B/BE/BENBOOTH/Set-IntervalTree-0.01.tar.gz ok Scanning cache /Users/standage/.cpan/build for sizes ............................................................................DONE x Set-IntervalTree-0.01/ x Set-IntervalTree-0.01/src/ x Set-IntervalTree-0.01/src/Makefile x Set-IntervalTree-0.01/src/interval_tree.h x Set-IntervalTree-0.01/src/test_main.cc x Set-IntervalTree-0.01/lib/ x Set-IntervalTree-0.01/lib/Set/ x Set-IntervalTree-0.01/lib/Set/IntervalTree.pm x Set-IntervalTree-0.01/Changes x Set-IntervalTree-0.01/MANIFEST x Set-IntervalTree-0.01/t/ x Set-IntervalTree-0.01/t/Set-IntervalTree.t x Set-IntervalTree-0.01/typemap x Set-IntervalTree-0.01/perlobject.map x Set-IntervalTree-0.01/IntervalTree.xs x Set-IntervalTree-0.01/Makefile.PL x Set-IntervalTree-0.01/README x Set-IntervalTree-0.01/META.yml CPAN: File::Temp loaded ok (v0.18) CPAN.pm: Going to build B/BE/BENBOOTH/Set-IntervalTree-0.01.tar.gz Checking if your kit is complete... • What are some really simple rules to keep a PHP codebase organized?

    - by wowest
I'm new to PHP in a professional context. I want a few macro thumb rules to keep me on the enlightened path. Here are a few I'm proposing to myself: no absolute paths in include|require(_once)? statements no .. dirname(foo), or other means of walking up in include|require(_once)? statements put libs on the include path, not in subdirectories You can see that all of this is focusing on managing dependencies, because that is the problem I've encountered thus far. What other thumb-rule solutions to macro level problems do you have?

  • Why doesn't my implementation of El Gamal work for long text strings?

    - by angstrom91
I'm playing with the El Gamal cryptosystem, and my goal is to be able to encipher and decipher long sequences of text. I have come up with a method that works for short sequences, but does not work for long sequences, and I cannot figure out why. El Gamal requires the plaintext to be an integer. I have turned my string into a byte[] using the .getBytes() method for Strings, and then created a BigInteger out of the byte[]. After encryption/decryption, I turn the BigInteger into a byte[] using the .toByteArray() method for BigIntegers, and then create a new String object from the byte[]. This works perfectly when i call ElGamalEncipher with strings up to 129 characters. With 130 or more characters, the output produced is garbled. Can someone suggest how to solve this issue? Is this an issue with my method of turning the string into a BigInteger? If so, is there a better way to turn my string of text into a BigInteger and back? Below is my encipher/decipher code with a program to demonstrate the problem. import java.math.BigInteger; public class Main { static BigInteger P = new BigInteger("15893293927989454301918026303382412" + "2586402937727056707057089173871237566896685250125642378268385842" + "6917261652781627945428519810052550093673226849059197769795219973" + "9423619267147615314847625134014485225178547696778149706043781174" + "2873134844164791938367765407368476144402513720666965545242487520" + "288928241768306844169"); static BigInteger G = new BigInteger("33234037774370419907086775226926852" + "1714093595439329931523707339920987838600777935381196897157489391" + "8360683761941170467795379762509619438720072694104701372808513985" + "2267495266642743136795903226571831274837537691982486936010899433" + "1742996138863988537349011363534657200181054004755211807985189183" + "22832092343085067869"); static BigInteger R = new BigInteger("72294619754760174015019300613282868" + "7219874058383991405961870844510501809885568825032608592198728334" + "7842806755320938980653857292210955880919036195738252708294945320" + "3969657021169134916999794791553544054426668823852291733234236693" + "4178738081619274342922698767296233937873073756955509269717272907" + "8566607940937442517"); static BigInteger A = new BigInteger("32189274574111378750865973746687106" + "3695160924347574569923113893643975328118502246784387874381928804" + "6865920942258286938666201264395694101012858796521485171319748255" + "4630425677084511454641229993833255506759834486100188932905136959" + "7287419551379203001848457730376230681693887924162381650252270090" + "28296990388507680954"); public static void main(String[] args) { FewChars(); System.out.println(); ManyChars(); } public static void FewChars() { //ElGamalEncipher(String plaintext, BigInteger p, BigInteger g, BigInteger r) BigInteger[] cipherText = ElGamal.ElGamalEncipher("This is a string " + "of 129 characters which works just fine . • Create new folder for new sender name and move message into new folder

    - by Dave Jarvis
Background I'd like to have Outlook 2010 automatically move e-mails into folders designated by the person's name. For example: Click Rules Click Manage Rules & Alerts Click New Rule Select "Move messages from someone to a folder" Click Next The following dialog is shown: Problem The next part usually looks as follows: Click people or public group Select the desired person Click specified Select the desired folder Question How would you automate those problematic manual tasks? Here's the logic for the new rule I'd like to create: Receive a new message. Extract the name of the sender. If it does not exist, create a new folder under Inbox Move the new message into the folder assigned to that person's name I think this will require a VBA macro. The instructions for actually triggering a message when a new message arrives are a little light on details (for example, no mention is made regarding ThisOutlookSession and how to use it). Thank you.

  • jQuery AJAX Character Encoding Problem

    - by Salty
Hi everyone, I'm currently coding a French website. There's a schedule page, where a link on the side can be used to load another day's schedule. http://aquate.us/film/horaire.html (At the moment, only the links for November 13th and November 14th work) Here's the JS I'm using to do this: <script type="text/javascript"> function load(y) { $.get(y,function(d) { $("#replace").html(d); mod(); }); } function mod() { $("#dates a").click(function() { y = $(this).attr("href"); load(y); return false; }); } mod(); </script> The actual AJAX works like a charm. My problem lies with the response to the request. Because it is a French website, there are many accented letters. I'm using the ISO-8859-15 charset for that very reason. However, in the response to my AJAX request, the accents are becoming ?'s because the character encoding seems to be changed back to UTF-8. How do I avoid this? I've already tried adding some PHP at the top of the requested documents to set the character set: <?php header('Content-Type: text/html; charset=ISO-8859-15'); ?> But that doesn't seem to work either. Any thoughts? Also, while any of you are looking here...why does the rightmost column seem to become smaller when a new page is loaded, causing the table to distort and each <li> within the <td> to wrap to the next line? Cheers
