  • Selectively search and replace certain lines using a regular expression

    I have a file containing a lot of SQL statements, such as: CREATE TABLE "USER" ( "ID" INTEGER PRIMARY KEY, "NAME" CHARACTER VARYING(50) NOT NULL, "AGE" INTEGER NOT NULL ); COPY "USER" (id, name, age) FROM stdin; 1 Skywalker 19 2 Kenobi 57 I want the column names in the COPY statements to be uppercased and quoted: COPY "USER" ("ID", "NAME", "AGE") FROM stdin; Using sed, I found the following regexp: sed -r 's/([( ])(\w+)([,)])/\1"\U\2\E"\3/g' It does replace the column names, but it is not selective enough, and replaces other words in the file: ~/test]$sed -r 's/([( ])(\w+)([,)])/\1"\U\2\E"\3/g' star_wars_example CREATE TABLE "USER" ( "ID" INTEGER PRIMARY "KEY", "NAME" CHARACTER VARYING("50")NOT "NULL", "AGE" INTEGER NOT NULL ); COPY "USER" ("ID", "NAME", "AGE") FROM stdin; 1 Skywalker 19 2 Kenobi 57 To avoid this problem, I want sed to only apply my regexp to the lines starting with COPY and ending with FROM stdin;. I have looked into lookahead / lookbehind, but they are not supported in sed. They seem to be supported in super-sed, but I am currently using Cygwin (Windows is mandatory here...) and it does not seem available in the package list. Is there a way to force sed to only consider specific line? I've considered piping my file through grep before applying sed, but other lines will then disappear from the output. Am I missing something obvious? It would be great if the answer was easily applicable on a default Cygwin install. I guess I could try installing super-sed on cygwin, but I'd like to know if there are more obvious ideas

  • How do I not include part of a regular expression

    I'm pretty new to using regexes and I can figure out how I would go about extracted a specific number from a string. Suppose the string was any amount of whitespace or random text and somewhere within it is this, "Value: $1000.00." In order to retrieve that value I am currently using this: string value = Convert.ToString(Regex.Match(BodyContent, @"Value:[ \t]*\$?\d*(\.[0-9]{2})?", RegexOptions.Singleline)); So the variable 'value' now has, "Value: $1000.00" stored in it. My question is, using Regex is there a way to use 'Value:' to find the number value but only store the actual number value (i.e. 1000.00) in the 'value' variable?

    I want to match both the src and title attributes of an image tag: pattern: <img [^>]*src=["|\']([^"|\']+["|\'])|title=["|\']([^"|\']+) target: <img src="http://someurl.jpg" class="quiz_caption" title="Caption goes here!"> This pattern gives me one unwanted match, title="content", and the match I actually want which is the value between the quotes after the word 'title', i.e 'content'. So, my matches are: <img src="http://someurl.jpg http://someurl.jpg title="Caption goes here!" Caption goes here! Is there a way to avoid the third of these matches? I'm using PCRE in PHP 5.2.x

What is the most efficient way to get the selected word of that string ?     I want to be able to check if I can edit a cell in a database with a new object Example method declaration: something.isValid(Object newObject, row, column); Example cases: If the editing cell stores an Number and I give it a String, the method will return false... If the editing cell has to be different than every other entry and the new object is the same as something else, the method will also return false.... My main goal... I want to check a whole row, and if everything is valid, I will edit the whole row. Right now, the only way I can find out if I can actually edit something is by actually editing it and seeing if I get an error.

    I have a project that uses PageMethods to call functions on the server. The server functions (written in C#) return the values as array of strings, without doing any kind of serialization and in the client side (from Js) the accessing of the return values is by using static variable called arguments. I found that sometimes for some users (cases are not repro) sometimes an exception occured "WebServiceFailedException the server method 'Foo' returned invalid data. the 'd' property is missing from JSON." Some searching on google I found that people are serializing the return values using DataContractJsonSerializer class and in js accessing the return value using one of the callback function Example: function OnRequestComplete(result, userContext, methodName) { var Person = eval('(' + result + ')'); alert(Person.Forename); alert(Person.Surname); } So is the first technique is correct? or what?

    Having problems with regular expressions in JavaScript. I've got a number of strings that need delimiting by commas. Unfortunately the sub strings don't have quotes around them which would make life easier. var str1 = "Three Blind Mice 13 Agents of Cheese Super 18" var str2 = "An Old Woman Who Lived in a Shoe 7 Pixies None 12" var str3 = "The Cow Jumped Over The Moon 21 Crazy Cow Tales Wonderful 9" They are in the form of PHRASE1 (Mixed type with spaces") INTEGER1 (1 or two digit) PHRASE2 (Mixed type with spaces") WORD1 (single word mixed type, no spaces) INTEGER2 (1 or two digit) so I should get: result1 = "Three Blind Mice, 13, Agents of Cheese, Super, 18" result2 = "An Old Woman Who Lived in a Shoe, 7, Pixies, None, 12" result3 = "A Cow Jumped Over The Moon, 21, Crazy Cow Tales, Wonderful, 9" I've looked at txt2re.com, but can't quite get what I need and ended up delimiting by hand. But I'm sure it can be done, albeit someone with a bigger brain. There are lots of examples of regEx but I couldn't find any to deal with phrases; so I was wondering if anyone could help me out. I know this is not ideal as there are methods for SOAP sending files, however, I am limited to having to use the SOAP that is set up, and it is not set up for sending with file support. Therefore I need to parse out the markup tags < and replace them with []. What is the best way to do this?

  • mscomctl.ocx on my dev machine gives me problems since security patch of MS

    I am busy on this problem since 2 days ago and hope someone can get me out of it. I have Excel 2010 (full install 944Mb) on my Windows 8 computer. It works well. But when I modify my workbook (containing a ListView version 6.0) I am not able to run it on my client's computer. I get the error: Could Not Load An Object. Not Available on This Machine. Even it works well on my dev machine. The reason is: Microsoft applied a Security Patch (near august 2012 I think) on mscomctl.ocx and my Excel 2010 installation files (downloaded not long ago) contains the new version of mscomctl.ocx. The clients using my Excel file don't apply the security patch at this moment. Se everytime I publish my Excel file to client's computers (from my dev environment), I reference the new mscomctl.ocx. That's the problem. I already try to get the old mscomctl.ocx from client's computer and copy & register it on my dev machine but then I got errors (Class not registered, ...) when I create a userform and drag a listview on it. So: mscomctl.ocx on client's machine is version 6.1.98.13 from 2008. mscomctl.ocx on my dev machine is version 6.1.98.34 from 2012. My question: Does someone have an idea how to proceed to have a usable version of mscomctl.ocx on my dev machine? Thank you very much.

    I'm currently using this regex ^[A-Z0-9 _]*$ to accept letters, numbers, spaces and underscores. I need to modify it to require at least one number or letter somewhere in the string. Any help would be appreciated! This would be for validating usernames for my website. I'd actually like to support as many characters as I can, but just want to ensure that I prevent code injection and that characters will display fine for all users. So I'm definately open to regex validation suggestions that would support a wider set of characters.

  • Connecting to an MS SQL Server from Silverlight?

    Normally, I would use a PHP webservice to do this, but since the front-end is hosted on a linux box, I need another way to do this (so I don't have to go through the trouble of installing FreeTDS, etc. I will if I have to). Is there a better way to do this? I'm not a web guy, but I'm trying my best.
